I use Yoda's "Message from the dark side there is".

Where do you put the sound so you can actually select it? I put the sound in my ringtone folder but it never came up.

Cheers mate.. that worked...
If you really want to find best ringtones etc you should not limit the thread to HD only. The only reason to do that would be the acoustic differences between models speakers and "sounding boards". But I can assure, these differences are SO small

Can I change the alarm?

I've had my TP2 for about 2 months now, and I'm waking up to the same lame sound every morning on my alarm. Now I've looked around on the forum, pretty much everywhere, and can't find a thing on it. (Or there's just too much, and I skipped it?)
So here it goes:
Does anyone know how to change the alarmtone? I would've thought it'd be the same as changing your ringtone on TP2, but I guess not.
Any ideas? All the standard alarm sounds on there are so lame. It's a ***** to wake up to it every morning.
Put the tone you want directly in My Documents. Not My Documents/Ringtones. Then it will show up in the list of options. At least, it did for me on the stock T-Mobile ROM and on all of the Energy Roms.

Custom Ringtones on HD7 via SSH?

Hello, I have a pretty simple question: Can custom ringtones and notification tones
be put on the HD7 via SSH? I know when I had my iPhone I was able to go into
it and add ringtones, change sms notifications, etc. Just wondering why this isn't
an option.

not a programmer/coder/hacker, I'm a tinkerer who stands on the shoulders of

buddy im the same loved the whole ssh on the iphone to change anything you wanted to do tones effectscustomise the screen ..
got tired of the iphone and bought a new hd7 and unlocked it ..
loved it all the windows stuff in 1 place videos music Xbox intregation stuff like that..
than .. freezing phone no updates . bad call alerts .its not the loudest phone in the world either .. found lots of little bugs id didnt like .. lots of them..
brought phone back to shop and am now going back to iphone 4 when it arrives in the shop should be today..whooo who . jailbreaking i love it..
until hackers and other developers jump on this phone it will have to wait for a place in my pocket again..
now i do love the phone and its features its just that well i miss just tinkering like you said and im no hacker myself ..
hope you get an answer .. there is chipron7 or something like that you install on your pc and can side load tones to the phone form that program but its kinda well hard for me anyhow ..
best of luck with the phone mate
to add ringtones at the moment you have to developer unlock it using the chevron program, load your ringtones into their apk and side load it onto the phone.
I would wait and see if they make it into the first update before going through all that trouble.

[Q] ExtSD hide

Is it possible to hide files on the external SD card from certain apps? Primarily video player and photo gallery. I've got little kids in the household that I don't want seeing certain things, if you catch my drift. I searched and couldn't find any way to hide the SD card from those apps, so as soon as you open the app kid-inappropriate thumbnails pop up. If possible I'd like to make those apps not scan the SD card so Iddon't have to worry about letting the kiddos play with the phone. Is this possible?
I'm running Jedi X6.1.2 ROM. Any help or advice is much appreciated.
Kids and phones are a bad combination.
So is porn and phones.

Lol, it's homemade, not downloaded from the net. I was just wondering if there was a way. I'm also usually sitting next to the kids while they use the phone, but I don't want them accidentally getting into the wrong place and seeing something theysshouldn't.

smh.. lol anyways:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.droida.nomedia&hl=en
I have never used an app to hide files from apps. I usually just put a ".nomedia" file in the folder in question. That makes it so no apps except a file explorer can see it.
However, it may be easier to keep track of by using that app. (actually WAY easier)
it looks like the app marks the hidden folder in red so you know which ones are being hidden. That feature alone is enough to make it better than adding a .nomedia
That app puts a .nomedia file into the folders that you select to "hide." Works perfectly! Thanks!

Haha yeah that's what I meant. That's why I referenced the ".nomedia"
Long night..
No problem! I'd rather have you hide the video then have to explain what going on in them to a kid lmao

Get Rid of Unread Message Sound?

Ok... I have been searching for an answer and I cannot find this anywhere.
If I have an unread text message, when I reboot my phone I get this annoying "song" letting me know I have an unread text message. It does not stop until I unlock the phone and at least pull down the notification bar.
I think it is some version of the "over the horizon" jingle.. I have searched in the system/media folder to see if it is located there in order to delete it, however the only one that sounded similar was the acoustic "over the horizion" .ogg - but renaming that with .bak at the end did not rectify the problem.
Does anyone know where the system is pulling this sound from? I want to replace it with something a little more.. mature. Or get rid of it all together.
Any help is appreciated. If you don't know what I am talking about, please leave the thread for more experienced users to reply instead of cluttering it with questions.

It's not going to be easy to help you without asking a question, but I'll try.
Check the Notifications folder on intsd for the sound file. If not there, you can search for audio files with any file explorer to find it. But the folder you checked and the one I listed are going to be the most common places for notifications.
Stop using stock Samsung messaging app because it's garbage. In any case, you've overlooked a setting (in messenger app), probably.
I have already run a search using root explorer that covered the entire system, and did not find any .ogg or .wav sound files I had not already checked.
It's not a setting in the stock messaging app (which, btw, works perfectly for me and definitely better than any 3rd party messaging app IMO)
There's nothing in the internal SD card notification folder except for the facebook pop sound. Only a beginner would not have checked that.
This is why I said let more experienced users answer, preferable Devs who understand the architecture of the stock GS3 system folders.
The further I look into this issue, the more I am beginning to think it's a T-Mobile function that cannot be disabled in the stock ROM without modifying the ROM itself. I have found threads in other forums where it's even an issue in T-Mobile Windows phones.
I do however remember there was a way to disable it on one of my old phones.. either the MyTouch 4G or the SGS2.. but I cannot find the xda thread from way back then.
My search continues.. I will post any information I find out.
Update: Checked the build.prop file and I can see where the default "alarm_alert=Walk_in_the_forest.ogg" is called out, however I do not think this is the cause as that .ogg file does not sound like the alert I am hearing. I believe the line of code I am looking at only dictates the default alarm sound. Continuing to troubleshoot..
