Hero themed rogro82 launcher

Basically rogro82's awesome modified launcher.apk hero themed.
Much thx you's to rogro82.
Since I know people here like the hero theme, i decided to change up rogro82's launcher a bit to my liking and post it up here.
Pretty much my first skinning job, and i only tested it on cm 3.6.8.1 jsuk. so just update and enjoy =]

I am about to try with ion r2. I will let you know how it works. All the files look like they should match up perfectly. Thank you!
EDIT: Well sad to say it didn't work for me. I will try working with it when I get home next week and back to my computer.

hmm...i cant understand why it wouldnt... maybe a second flash? I didn't change anything other then the application drawer png's and i signed both the launcher.apk and the update.zip.

To be honest if I was at home I would try a lot more stuff. But I need my phone right now. I almost screwed myself over by not thinking. haha I don't have a micro sd to sd card with me and my phone started boot looping luckily a wipe pulled me out of it but when I loaded with your launcher all I got was a status bar which is all I needed to be able to put the other update file for just the regular ion r2 file. I think this will work just fine I just need to be at home where I have all my stuff for my phone and working with android setup.
ps. I am also tired and should probably be asleep so I may have just done something not quiet right because I am not completely thinking straight right now. haha. So for anyone wanting to try this I would say go for it.

im thinking it has more to do with rogro82's launcher then the changes i did. cuz i dont think a png can mess up a whole apk
maybe its because of the ion r2 since i tested with cm

it won't work with ion because of the Launcher.odex file still in there. It'll conflict with rogro's launcher (since his classes.dex is different). Just do adb remount> adb rm system/app/Launcher.odex. Or you could add
if -e /system/app/Launcher.odex
rm /system/app/Launcher.odex
fi;
to your update script

yeah see honestly if I was home I would just delete Launcher files read new files compress to zip file and sign. but I am not at home so I don't have adb.

Themes Help

Hey all,
I have searched a little bit, but my brain is fried from rooting today so i'm not having any luck finding a post on how to install a theme. I have found a million and one on how to make a theme, but not install it.
Could someone point me to a good "howto" please?
Or if it's as simple as flashing it using recovery you can just tell me to do that too!

I haven't tried to do one yet for fear of breaking something after spending all day trying to root!
But im looking at installing this one.

I've already downloaded it. Do I just copy it to the root of my SD and then flash from SD with recovery?

Thats exactly what you do.. just make sure you downloaded the one for your rom... Damage control or Fresh.... and you will be all set..
Just so you know after flashing it might take a minute to reboot..just give it sometime and it will finish booting.

OK I spoke too soon....well....still TY, but it didnt quite work. LOL
I flashed it, and the icons all changed, but none of the backgrounds did. Do I need to set those somehow or should it have done that??

Lost again.... When I go to menu > wallpapers I dont see that background in any of the categories. Where would I find them at??

You are looking for the background for the minimalist / movado theme?
I would post the link but it won't let me as I am too new. Simply go to the theme page, save the bottom picture to your phone, which is the background you want. (And by theme page, I mean the link you posted above. It has several images in it. of screen shots. the bottom one is the background. Save that to your phone).
Just save that image to your phone, then go to "menu" / "wallpaper" / "gallery" and select the image.

New to rooting, themes and such.
I found some place that before flashing a theme you need to:
Wipe data+Cache+Dalvik
Is this necessary?

got a stock evo 2.1 rooted it.. with clockwork installed custom rom and kernel updated to 2.2 everything is okay used romanger to go back between clock work and arom... but still cant get the adb commands to work... actuall just trying to push a spc mp3 file tried replacing with root explorer no go

One thing a lot of us had trouble with going from 2.1 to 2.2 was the su app didn't like being bundled with a rom. Uninstall your su app and install the one from the market.
Let us know if this fixes it.

tried that, only because i was not able to install (update) the one from the market so i uninstalled the on on the rom and installed the one from the market

i've read through tons of threads and it seems that alot of people are having issues replacing the spc mp3 file on 2.2

Where is it in the system?
Is that the audio that plays during the boot animation?

yes it does im assuming the stock recovery uses the red exclamation... now i have the yellow one i tried to remount and i get an error.....

so why must we adb on the 2.2 when the 2.1 all you needed was root explorer? to change boot animation and sound.....

The boot animation in 2.2 is a single .zip file. Boot animations are something I haven't gotten into much (on the EVO) so I'm not sure how it was on 2.1 but I'd guess it was more like the Hero where it was a .gif or two and a sound file.
When the boot animation is packaged in a single .zip file you can't just swap out parts of it. You'd have to unzip it, change what you want, and make sure the xml (if there's on in there) is adjusted accordingly. If you swapped the sound file for one that was of the same name you'd probably be fine to rezip and drop the whole zip back in there.
This is pure speculation though. I may be totally wrong. If I were gonna try to customize my boot though that's where I would start.

You can use pushboot found in the development section to change the sound and/or the bootanimation.

Cool, dl'ing virus rom now so I can see exactly what you're working with.
Are we sure you actually do have su permissions and it was just an issue with this boot animation package?
Can you mount your /system as R/W in root explorer?

Same goes for 2.2. Just swap out the files in /system/customize/resource/ I've also seen them in /system/media/ depending on which rom you're using.

[Q] Booting into recovery/flashing zip and img files

im wondering if we can boot into recovery, flash images in order to apply themes, fonts, etc. i've tried rebooting into recovery using better terminal pro, rom manager and it says not permitted..is there any way i can have my phone to boot into recovery like lets say..using android commander, it does its job..you think that will work? thanks

I assume by the nature of how the build is setup, you can't easily (at least not through the normal procedure) or even at all. However, I could be very wrong. Would like to see an answer from a pro.

Yes please, i searched all over the internet and i tried everything.... from the Android Explorer to the Root explorer but couldn't install the Arabic support.

yea im dying to install new fonts and give a new look to my phone but it looks like it isnt possible as of now

Yeah, I'd like some new themes and colors, but as far as I can tell, it can't happen, at least for a while. Maybe someone will figure out a work around, but I doubt well see it happening without a specific fix or app for the rhod and xdandroid set up devices.

May want to wait for the project to be more complete before trivial things like this are worried about... Seriously, c'mon guys.

so i download it and i get past the m screen but then i just goes black and nothing happens and the adb logcat does not seem to be working on this

Hmm weird, if its going past M, you should be able to get a logcat. Its kind of the only way I can tell whats wrong.

ok so i tried it and it did not work. im think that the problem is some where in the installation cause nothing else makes sense

Could be missing files. :|

i can already see if it is missing files it would be a huge pain in the ass to find what its missing :-(
edit: also whats with the DS_store files in the zip?

.DS_Store is useless , My mac makes them

Also I won't be able to adb push things since adb does not work it would have to be in the zip if you compile another zip I will flash it later in the week and get back to you

I have been extremely busy with the Dx/D2 work I've been doing and just living
I won't completely kill this, when I have time, I will upload a newer build for testing.

Ok that's cool I will check in once and a while I'm still learning how this kinda stuff works once I get the hang of it maybe I can take over but I have a feeling that's a longs way off

I was thinking maybe cause the droid pro is a global build while the other phones are just cdma
