OK....long story short...finally decided to delve into rooting and custom roms. Flashed CM6 yesterday and everything was going great. Then suddenly yesterday evening as I was swiping between home screens on my device everything froze, and I have been trying to recover ever since.
Anything I flash now just freezes, and i have a touch panel-fail so even when i do get a rom to boot i cant actually get into set it to usb mode or anything.
using bootloader i can not get it to connect using the adb driver so that I can push via adb.
about an hour ago I was successfully able to run the latest RUU and it ran successfully, but device is still way laggy (takes 15 minutes to boot) and no touch screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! don't know where to go from here. From what I have read its not bricked because I can get into Bootloader and Recovery???
Just a shot in the dark here, but it sounds like since you're stock now it's an actual hardware failure.

Is there way I can verify that the RUU did indeed flash *EVERYTHING* back to stock?
It seen like you have a HARDWARE issues, Re-Boot the Stock Rom. Call Sprint and explain what's going on with your phone, please *DO NO'T MENTION YOU ROOTED YOUR PHONE* Tell them you try to wipe your phone and it was really laggy before you wipe, since you gonna Re-Boot the stock rom the phone is going to get UNROOTED, I know this cause I work at Sprint... So good luck...

I definitely wont rule out hardware issues...this is a refurb device i just swapped my original EVO for on Monday. I guess I just want to rule out any software issues for sure.
You mention that re-booting the stock rom will UNROOT the phone...however I hav no way to currently re-boot the rom??
Also looks like i can not get into recovery now, when I select the option in the bootloader it just takes me to the screen with a picture of a device and a red triangle

Get a Memory Card adapter for PC or use anything that will let you connect your SD card to your computer... As soon as you put the *ORIGINAL STOCK ROM* in your SD card your phone will do everything by itself...

I assume I need to load it onto my sd card as the pc36IMG.zip so that i can load it from the bootloader?
you got it...just put it on the root of sdcard and good luck.

OK, so I loaded this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874091 onto my sd card as PC36IMG.zip
It loads the zip then says parsing for about 1 second then just reverts back to the HBOOT option ???
Doesn't ask me if i want to install????
Looks like I grabbed only the OTA update rom that was posted on that page. I am going to try the odexed version on this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874251

I think so, on the bootloader it still shows "S-off" ...doesn't that indicate it is still unlocked?
OK, so I was able to flash the file in the bootloader. It looks like it won't load past the 'HTC EVO 4g' splash screen.
ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!
But the Installation finish without problems ?

yeah, as far as i can tell. It said it completed and gave me the option to press the power button to reboot.
It did finally load up...after about 15 minutes, but touchscreen is still erroring out and not funtional.
Hey guys. I have a problem and not sure how to go about this. My Evo was at 2.2 rooted for a long while and all of a sudden it started acting up. It would always freeze and had to be rebooted constantly. So I had a back that I went back to successfully but it is at 2.1 now (Baseband 2.15.00.09.01)
Now I'm not getting the OTA update to 2.2. I go into HTC software update and it says no available updates for my phone.
So how do I get to 2.2 or 2.3 rooted?
FYI after going into bootlaoder and choosing Recovery, I get Clockworkmod Recovery. Is this normal?
You need to flash the stock rooted ROM for the latest OTA update. I would suggest trying out some different Roms, though. That's the best part of rooting.
And ClockworkMod is the most popular recovery for the Evo, so yeah that's probably right.

Sounds like the perfect time to throw CM7 on there and see what you think about AOSP Gingerbread.

It's pretty easy actually. Once you have root again (if you don't already), go to http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=supersonic and download either the newest nighly (30) or RC2 to your memory card.
Boot into Clockwork and go to backup and restore, and choose nandroid backup or backup (I'm not using clockwork, so I don't know the exact verbiage). Once the backup is complete, do a full system wipe by clicking on wipe data/factory reset.
Once that is done, choose install zip from sdcard, scroll down to cm_supersonic_full-30.zip and select it. It will install and then ask you to reboot. Go ahead and reboot.
Once your phone is up and running again, you'll want to get back into recovery so that you can flash GoogleApps, which you can find here: http://goo-inside.me/gapps/latest/7/universal/.
You'll flash these just like you did CyanogenMod 7 a minute ago, although you will want to wipe your cache and dalvik cache (which is located under "advanced" in the Clockwork menu) first.
All you have to do then is boot back up, go through the walkthrough to set up your google account, and then you'll be running (close to) stock Gingerbread 2.3.
If you need any help, feel free to ask.
Awesome!!! Thanks blackroseMD1!! I'll give it a try when I get home from work tonight. I'm not rooted right now. The last time I rooted I used unrevoked because it was so easy. Would that be good enough to get the process rolling?

I'd actually use the link that CheesyNutz posted up there. Universal Auto Root works better than Unrevoked, from what I've heard.

One last question. Is there a tethering app built into CM7 or do I need to get wireless tether from the marketplace?
Edit...Nevermind I think I found it right underneath bluetooth settings

Many recommend wiping data/factory reset (which I know was suggested and you've done), but also cache and dalvik BEFORE flashing any new ROM. Also, with CM, is it not suggested that you use Format_All?

I only started using Format All recently, and never had any trouble before that with just a factory reset. Different phones react differently though...

Your best bet is to use YouMail, which is free in the market. It's a lot like Sprint's Visual VoiceMail that you have on Sense roms, but with more features. I use it, and I love it.
I was running fresh as my rom. I then wanted to try Synergy as my new ROM. It installs, but when i reboot, it will just stay lock on the "HTC Evo 4G" splash screen.
I even try to reload the fresh rom and others as well, but nothing. I can get into the recovery screen fine, but nothing wants to work once i install a rom and reboot. please help and thanks in advance.

Make sure you're using amon_ra recovery as clockwork doesn't play well with synergy. Also make sure to wipe everything 3x.

OK i installed amon_ra recivery and that worked fine. I also wipe everything 3x as you said; however, when i try to install the rom, it installs. When i reboot it, it will stay stuck on the splash screen.
If you're trying to install Synergy RC2 Godmode, you might want to try just regular Synergy RC2, the Godmode version has been hit and miss for a few people.
I haven't been following the Synergy thread for a few weeks, but last I DID read, didn't the Godmode version supposedly take like 45 mins to boot or something like that?

I would leave it for 20 min every time i try it. I also try different roms, and they still do the same thing and get lock on the splash screen.
My brother has a Evo also and his took 5 min to get out of the splash screen.

I don't know, but, tbh, try MikG. It's really almost the same thing as Synergy. Very few real differences and I had better performance with MikG than I did Synergy

As for synergy and other 3.0 roms, it can go up to 8 minutes on the splash screen, due to the size of the rom and re-building the cache.
I need some serious help I have tried everything which means wiping cache, davlik, perform system reset and then tried to install this rom with the latest radio pack and tiamat 4.1 and my phone still keeps bootlooping right when I go to sign into the gmail, no matter what I try it will not work. I can't even get a logcat in adb, has anyone ever had this problem or knows what I can do to fix it
EDIT: I did have some help with putting on this stock RUU rom or whatever but I mean it still did it a couple times today, last night it was doing it every ten mins... but I would still like some help to get it to stop and so I can get back on CM 7.1
Try this
http://www.multiupload.com/RS_7QL6SAXKOD
Download the pc36img.zip and make sure that's what it says then put it on root of sdcard then go into bootloader then let it scan it will ask you if you want to update then hit yes and let it do its thing

ok ill post back after I try it
EDIT: Ok it updated and everything now I believe it is a stock RUU again can I wipe everything and go to CM 7.1 now? or should I give this a day and see if it bootloops anymore and then post back
EDIT: It has already boot looped 4 times now

nope I did not touch it I was waiting to here from you and see if it was safe to go to CM 7.1 obviously not
I even have tried to go do this RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.24.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.05.02_NV_2.15_release_199233_signed
and I just get a error 155 (saying its the wrong RUU) which it's clearly not
Sorry I'm stumped guess you have to unroot it and send it to sprint cuz its probably defective don't know what else to tell you
Sent From way down Bikini Bottom
That's a hardware issue. Had the same problem with mine, last year. Means an insurance replacement, since Sprint can't fix this instore. Bummer man. :-( Unles you're still under warranty, that is. In that case you could send it to HTC. Means being without for a week, but you get Your phone back. Instead of a refurbished one.

Ok,my mom has a Dinc just like me. However, her's is completely stock except an unlocked bootloader. She installed the update and everything ran smooth. With the occasional freeze. But today she turned it to go to school and turned it back on and she was prompted that her Dinc has become unstable. Can anyone explain this or tell me how to fix it?

Something got corrupted during the update it sounds like. You can first try a factory reset from hboot, if that dosent work you can do an ruu. However there is no 4.08.605.15 ruu and im not sure if it will let you flash an older version. If it dosent let you do the ruu, your only option would be to try to root and hope you can get a working rom on there.
