Ballistic HC Series Case - Competitor to Otterbox

Since Otterbox still has the "Coming Soon" sign for their HTC EVO cases, I decided to check out their Facebook page to see if they had any information.
One of the people who is a friend with Otterbox, posted a link to a company that sells rugged-type cases comparable to...well..Otterbox - http://www.goballisticcase.com/products/htc-evo-ballistic-hc-series-case
What do you all think?

Seriously, what's taking otterbox so long? Doesn't look like I care anymore since that ballistic case looks pretty damn sexy! Also looks really really safe for my baby.

I don't know what the holdup is with Otterbox. People have been posting on their wall, asking when they are going to release any of the 3 cases for the EVO. All Otterbox has to say is a general, "they are being produced..." response

Been watching the youtube videos on this, and I'm pretty impressed. I have a sedio active, which makes the phone a bit bigger...hmm

In my original post, I put that this company sells cases like Otterbox. I never said that they were being produced and sold yet. Like a lot of other people, I am just getting tired of waiting on Otterbox. All I did was present another choice or option
At least this company has a picture of the product, on their website. Otterbox doesn't have [email protected]

MT4G Otterbox Defender case?

I wonder if we will get a Otterbox Defender case? These are great and I have one on my HTC HD2. Who else wants One?

I am waiting. It's great for a great piece of hardware.

I'm waiting for an OtterBox, case-mate Tough Case, or something similar. OtterBox made 'em for the Magic & Slide, so hopefully they will for the Glacier as well.

Geez, 5 months after the release of the Evo they FINALLY have an otterbox for it! So don't hold your breath! I'm waiting for a Seidio 3200-3500 Mah battery for it like I have on my Evo and matching belt clip-case/holster. Picking up my Glacier Monday and, like the Evo (got it the day it was released), going to be hard going while waiting for a few accessories for it.

This case is one of those sold in T-Mobile stores.

I got this the other day from Otterbox.
We are currently working on a Commuter and Impact case for this device, but it is still being designed and we don’t have a time table for when it will be ready. I recommend keeping an eye on our website or Facebook page where we will be sure to post more information as soon as it is available. Customer Service finds out about new case releases the moment they are posted to the website.

yeah, on otterbox facebook page they said they are working on cases for the mytouch 4g, but didnt go into details about which ones.. I prefer the defender series but will have to wait and see.
I will say though that I have defender series cases on my iphone, nexus one and hd2..by far the best of the bunch has been the iphone one, just made to a higher standard or something, fits much tighter and the rubber part stays put..on my hd2 the rubber part kinda just lays over the bottom buttons..not real form fitting.

I got in touch with them and they will not be making a defender case for out MT4G. They are developing a commuter and Impact version.

No, I was planning on possibly posting pics of the Ballistic Case to convince everyone that this is an awesome case. My wife and I are using the Cyclops right now, and it rocks. But I would like something more rugged for when I go to work.

I feel that the release of the case was intentionally delayed until this day passed. Basically, if I don't get the EVO case for 40% off because I'm certain this is intentional, I'll be sticking with my Seidio Rugged.

I think I may stick with my Trident Cyclops until I can get a decent discount.

I have been waiting for this case for a while now!! I have been in constant contact with Ballistic about the release date and so forth through phone and email. After they posted the new pics of the redesigned back, and delayed the release even further...I went out and bought the Seidio Innocase Rugged with Holster and LOVE it!! Was considering the Otterbox Defender as I love the Impact and Commuter but the Defender got horrible reviews....
SO, with 40%, I will probably jump back on board. At $50....I'll stick with my RUGGED and like it!! The Seidio Rugged seriously is an AWESOME case, and having the Innocase too is nice. I bought it just for work, the evenings and weekends I let the Evo run around naked. Though I have found myself taking off the exoskeleton and silicone case and leaving on the Innocase in the evenings...its pretty nice!

I have to disagree on the Seidio case. I thought it was great when I first got it, but after just a couple weeks the port covers were tearing back into the case and I had to cut them off to stop the tearing. Then one day when I went to take the skeleton off, a piece of it just snapped off in my hand. The camera cover wouldn't stay pinned back anymore, so I had to cut that off too. Finally, the holster is a really poor design. The lock gets unlocked too easily and then the phone can just fall out. It should be made so you push down to lock it and pull up to unlock.

That sucks!! Hope that doesnt happen to mine. Mine is actually the Best Buy Platinum brand version. Which appears to be slightly different than the ones branded Seidio. I think they took the flaws from the Seidio branded cases and fixed it on the Platinum branded cases, or so I heard (really looks that way too). For those who dont know, the Platinum brand that Best Buys sells is just Seidio product with a different brand name stamped on it (it even says Seidio on the bottom of all of the packages :-D )

I bought my Seidio Rugged from Amazon..not a port cover has torn or a piece of the skeleton broke off in my hand.
I read this in all the reviews..and all I could do was facepalm and make the purchase KNOWING that these behemoths' were just trying to rip the case off rather than "REMOVE" it. A little finesse goes a long way.
I won't replace my Rugged, just like I never replaced my Seidio case for my G1 way back. I will cheat on my rugged for 40% off that sexy looking ballistic though..even though at full price it's ugly.

Mine lasted since the release date until I broke the skeleton a couple weeks ago. No problems with anything else. The rubber on the replacement they sent is quite a bit heavier and the exoskeleton a slightly different design. I told them it would be nice if just the skeletons were available to buy separately in the Seido store and they said they'd pass that on to sales. If you guys have any problems tell them the same. Oh yeah and colors would be nice too.

Actually, I wasnt "ripping" it off. I just used my fingernail to pull back the corner and release it and it just fell off in my hand. However, I still use it every day and it still does a good job of protecting my EVO. I would just expect more from a case that costs $50 and claims to be "rugged". I preordered mine, so it was one of the first batch. Maybe the newer ones really are better.
Discount or not, I do plan on getting the red Ballistic case when they are available.

Yeah, I don't understand why he's talking about finesse with a "Rugged" case. Anyhow, my wife and I are both careful with our phones and don't rip the case off. And it chipped off on both of our phones.

WTF Otterbox

There was a thread a week or 2 ago where someone emailed Otterbox about the SGII Epic Touch and they said they didn't have the phone in hand, so they didn't design the case. That being said, I'd assume it would be just a matter of time before they got in gear and put their noses to the grindstone.
So now I see they already have a case for the new iPhone 4s. Are they just going to completely overlook the SGII Epic Touch? This upsets me.

The 4s is the same exact phone as the 4 as far as design goes.

just wait for trident to release their case next month. way better than an otterbox.

all i know is when i had my evo, the otterbox failed to deliver. everyone i know that bought the highly awaited defender case was sorely disappointed.
meanwhile, my trident cyclops case took a beating and kept going. when i finally sold my evo, it was in mint condition.
otterbox may get the job done, but trident does it cheaper and better.

Otterbox's excuse is a load of crap. Third-party accessory makers have access to prototype shells long in advance of a device's release.

Otterbox has the single most overrated cases out there. They used to have decent iPhone cases but they have gone downhill dramatically in the past year. I had all of their EVO 4G cases, the impact was crap, the commuter was OK, and the defender flat out SUCKED.

EDIT: Oh lawd some of those Trident cases look amazing! I hope they don't disappoint with the Epic Touch case. I'll buy one for sure

Otterbox took a gamble with the 4S case and it proved the smart choice. Most everyone was expectinga radically changed iphone and waited to see what to make new cases for. Otterbox's gamble paid off for them and retailers that carry their brand. Hopefully someone releases a good holster/case for the epic touch sooner rather than later! I hate carrying in the pocket. But until a better option comes out it's the safest place.

Anyone else nervous about dropping their phone before they get something tuff enuf to protect it?? I am!! Seems like it's gonna take forever to find some in stock somewhere. Wish they made the commuter with a holster. Anyone got any other ideas that protect as well as the OB defender that has holster and looks nice 2??

I admit I am too. In fact, I "plan" on waiting till I can get a defender before getting the phone.
That's the plan, though once I see it in a store I may change my mind and get it then.

I bought a couple of these cases to tide us over until the otterbox cases are available.

Yep, that would be me. Mr. Nervous/Paranoid that i'm going to drop my phone before my Otterbox arrives. They do make a Commuter with a holster, it's called the Defender. As for what other cases look and protect as good as the Otterbox, try this

I have been an Otterbox fan since first getting one for my IPT a few years ago, I've only bought Otterbox cases for my devices since but they're taking too long to come out for this phone so I had to go with Incipio and I gotta say, it seems like an equally awesome case.

Black Commuter
The Otterbox site is selling the black Commuter. I snagged one and got a tracking number. I too prefer Defenders. However, Otterbox will not ship Defenders or ANYTHING with color until LATE JULY.
I have Defenders on my Blackberries. I like how the Commuter is less bulky, However, I need a belt clip/holster. Open box; Insert SIM, SD and Battery; Apply screen protector; Install Otterbox. T minus 2 days!
My relationship with Otterbox is starting to deteriorate. It started with the Commuter only for Vibrants and the delay it took to get a Vibrant case out. As a case manufacturer, how do you not have a case ready for a super phone(GS3), that has a released intl model with the same dimensions? It proves my belief that Otterrbox is run by apple fanboys. Betcha they have warehouses full of iPhone5 cases.

I ordered an atomic green and artic white commuter series otterbox from amazon, they shipped and are scheduled to arrive 7/6 (5 days before my phone).

I keep tweeting @otterbox telling them if they don't get their defender cases out soon for the S3 they are going to lose me as a customer and I am sure countless other people sick of waiting for them to get their act together. If you talk to them, they still say they don't even have a ETA date really for release, just broad time frames that they themselves aren't even talking about, it is their distributors that are telling people the time frames of release.
It probably is a bunch of fanboys. They are so involved in getting their precious Armor case out for the iphone 4s they didn't get their act together on this mega-phone that is blowing the iPhone away.

I have the otterbox commuter. It is a very nice, high quality case. Looks awesome too.
Two cons, including the buttons are stiff as hell and it is a PITA to get on and off.
Once it's on though, it's perfect!

I'll be getting a defender ASAP and hoping I don't drop it in the mean time. I'm not normally not a case user though as my MOTO stuff has held up great without.

My commuter is in the mail should be here tomorrow or the next day. I just saw that Trident has their Aegis out and I may be switching to that soon. I had one for my Note and LOVED it.

Yeah look a little closer to the Amazon ship date. That date was originally 6/22 and they have been pushing it back more and more as the days go by. Truthfully I don't think these suppliers know when Otterbox is going to release the Defender, and talking to Otterbox I don't think they have a clue either.

No holster for Aegis, when the Kraken series comes out for the S3 (should be late july) it will have a holster.
