Is there a way to send my txt messages from Android to WM6.5? It's not that big of a deal but somethings If I am in a big conversation it gets split between the OSs (because I get the sudden urge to go to Android lol).
I'm looking for a way to handle this too, I hate when I get an important txt in android and then forget that I won't have in in winmo or vice versa.

Well, it's not a very good solution, but I suppose if you are on a GSM phone, you could copy the messages to the sim card, and transfer them 30 at a time...
As for the other better solution, I don't know of a software solution yet, but I think it's time to start developing one that will export them into an intermediate format, and re-import them from the same format on both windows mobile and android. Think PIM backup but for both android and WINMO...
Psst.

Anyone else have problems with text messaging?
Scenario: I receive a text message, the notification pops up on screen. I have my phone handy, so i hit the reply button.
The phone takes me to Windows Mobile text messaging. I send my text message reply. If the same person texts me back, it is not registered as being read.
So i exit the screen back to the TouchFlo 3d menu. I have a new text message (that i have already seen and read)
So i go to the windows mobile text system to read it...again.
NOW, lets say i have a full conversation with someone. 30 messages later, I still have 30 unread messages, every time i open the windows mobile text messanger, it removes ONE new message, not all.
So, i never get to use the TouchFlo 3d messenger, which is half decent, and the WM6.1 text messenger is stupid.
Does anyone know of a setting, or a third party text program that will over ride this crap, or am i just hoping this all works out.
Am i really the only one who has text messaging difficulties?

this is a known issue my friend...
download SafeInBoxExtender... search the main forum...
it will let you "mark all messages as read" ..
it will cure your problem right up..
*nods* i have it already, it doesnt exactly "cure" the problem, UGH!
We shouldnt have to come up with stupid fixes for stuff microsoft should already have fixed.
Is 6.5 slated to fix some of this garbage?
I have another problem
i cant use the TF messaging
allot of times it tells me message not sent
and if not there is no delivery report
i found out the there is a TF delivery report i must check 1st
but its not fixed !!!
when i go out of the message it becoms unchecked !!
So at the end i used the Win messaging with no problems there
but i wish i can just click the incoming message and reply right away
hmm how odd, i don't have either of those issues.
Which version of the TP2 are you guys using?

U mean u reply on sms from the TF thread mode with no problems and u receive a delivery report ???
without having to use the Win messaging mode ?
why me then?
hope any one can help me
my Rom version is 1.19.415.1
dated 06/12/09
im using the sprint TP2
Another partial fix here...Partial because Ive only using the new dll for a bout a week(not sure of long temr effects) & I cant make a successful backup using sprite backup etc without adding the dll files to the exclude list of files to backup.
im not quite sure i understand what you just said.
The way Windows Mobile handles sending SMS when in low or no signal areas is very annoying. If it fails to send the message it stores it in the drafts with a link to try resending it in the conversation view. You can tap the retry link but if it fails again it will store it in drafts AGAIN and now you have multiple retry links. When it succeedes it doesn't even remove the failed ones.
If someone could change it so that it will keep auto-retrying and wait until signal is back to send it, it would be great.
If that is too hard, is it possible to make it just show only 1 retry link in the conversation view and then auto-remove it once it successfully sends? I hate having to go to drafts and delete multiple messages.
Dear petard,
it seems as if nobody is intersted in developping such an useful hack in order to remove one of the most annyoing bug our PDA are provided with.
I'd like my PDA to look like a Nokia phone sometimes, even though I wouldn't need to..... but I wonder why such an advanced device as a PDA phone can't have a similar feature. It's really weird, I didn't expect Microsoft not to solve the problem
Agreed, this is highly annoying...
Worse yet is that if an SMS fails to be sent from HTC's TF3D SMS app, it actually appears in the stock WM SMS app's conversation view without a resend link, so you don't even know that it hasn't actually been sent.
this is so annoying and has drove me crazy since i got my phone back in april. i dont understand why all my older cell phones did this but my SMARTphone does not. i am constantly needingt this feature
Not sure what phone you are using, however with my HD2 if you use custom message client made by Death Angle then he has a built in auto retry sending message. It is quite a nice message client.

I am trying to narrow down why some of us are having SMS lag. Lets say when you send or receive SMS, your phone lags for a few seconds to sometimes a minute. I have tried a few ROMs and still have this small amount of lag. I believe it might be the radio I am using.
TP2: TILT 2 from ATT
ROM: Feb 7th NRG Sense 2.5 from 21XXX
RADIO: 4.48.25.20

I had some SMS lag on my stock 6.1 tmobile ROM, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore after I ran the fix to kill the "sent" notification. I can't find the cab for it just now, but you can find it easily in the forums here.
EDIT: I have radio 3.45.25.14, just fyi.
Thanks. I disabled that. Are you using Sense 2.5?

I just switched to Sense 2.5. I haven't been using it enough to experience this lag, but I noticed when in a text message and switching to landscape I freeze up on occasion. I have to make sure the text screen is fully loaded before sliding my keyboard.
Energy.RHOD500.21891.Leo_07.Feb.2010
I have the sms lag with official T-Mobile WMO 6.5 and Sense 2.1. When I exit a chat it hangs for 5-10 seconds everytime. I also get lags after sending SMS's. I didn't have this problem with stock 6.1.
What are the chances we get a hotfix from HTC/WMO?
I've had the sms lag with every Manila 2.5 ROM I've tried. Starts out nice and quick and then after about 3 days it's very laggy. Deleting text messages brings it back up to speed usually.
Otherwise no lag here, specs in signature.

It's simple...the core code for the sms app is crap. Like Toleraen said, if you clear out your messages it's good for a few days...or less depending on the volume of text messages that you send/receive. I send/receive anywhere from 100 to 150 messages everyday so my tilt2 doesn't take long to start lagging. The problem is within the windows mobile code. The sms code has been crap since winmo 5. I've had the treo, mogul, tp and now the tilt2 and they're all the same...lag lag lag. That's why you still see the lag even in cooked roms. I don't believe any of the core code is re-written in any of the cooked roms (correct me if i'm wrong). The problem for me is that I need to keep all my text messages (for business purposes) so I will ALWAYS experience this lag. Either way, you shouldn't need to constantly be clearing out your messages for your phone to work. With all the text messaging people do these days it needs to be a daily task, and who has time for that. Microsoft needs to re-write this app and make it more efficient. BTW, htc released a hotfix for this "sms freezing" for the tilt2 and I installed it on my tilt2 and it didn't make a bit of difference.
So, if anyone out there has actually found a real solution to this, please share.
BTW I have an att tilt2 with the stock 6.5 rom.

I think a lot of the reason I don't experience this is because I keep my sms storage trimmed almost all the time. I too need to retain a lengthy history of texts, I just use a solution that stores and backs them up off-device in a way I can quickly reference via a PC...any threads I'm not actively using get backed up (manually), singly or in batches, at least once a day. There's a number of tools that can do this, I personally use MyPhone and Jeyo Mobile Companion.
If your need to keep the messages also dictates that you need them on-device at all times, then you might want to see if any of the SMS apps available for WM have the ability to save them in an accessible format elsewhere on the phone, like in a folder on the SD card (ideally).
This obviously doesn't solve the root issue (which I agree is endemic to WM...the same exact issue occured on my Wizard and my dad's TyTN), but it's a fairly painless way to sidestep it

I also use a couple of tools to back up my messages (jeyo mobile extender and mIQ live) so I guess there really isn't a need for me to keep my messages on my phone. I just don't have the time to sit there and trim down my sms storage on a daily basis. Deleting messages is also a slow process on winmo. It just annoys me that something this simple and easy to reproduce passes QA and gets released to the public. It shouldn't be up to the consumer to find workarounds for these bugs. Ultimately I think it comes down to trying to keep up with the competition. Microsoft and HTC are trying so hard to keep up with the iphone, blackberry and now the droid that they've really eased up their QA process and let things like this get passed QA just to release a phone. From my standpoint, they're not doing themselves any favors by doing this.
I text about 100 times a day as well. That is sending and receiving.
I was thinking that was the problem too, and as it seems a lot of us that have experienced the lag have a lot of text messages.
It sucks because I like to keep all my text!
This never happened on the WM 6.1 on my Tilt 1 though.
Coming near a conclusion that it is the major amount of text we have guys?
With my GF thread we probably have about 1000 something text messages over the past few months.

Yeah I didn't have the text lag with 6.1 either. I find it quite odd and annoying.
No lag in SMS, see signature for specs.
I also get a lag with the latest mighty rom but its mostly a lag when replying to a text message or even trying to close the window for text messaging it takes 5-10 seconds at times to close. I thought it was something with the software < i wish there was some time of program to overclock how fast the sms software works

I text about 500 a month (based on my bill) and I keep a clean inbox. I delete it every few days.

This is why you don't get any sms lag. I do 500 every two or three days and I don't ever delete. I need to keep my messages for business purposes. I have software that backs up my messages to outlook but I like some redundancy. Either way I don't have time to sit there and clean my inbox on a daily basis and I shouldn't have to. With the volume of texting that I do I would have to clean it every day to keep my phone from lagging. Winmo stores an "unlimited" number of text messages (provided there memory available), yet the phone doesn't work properly if the inbox is too large. To me, that's a feature wasted. If you're going to give a phone a feature, make it so that it works.
Tmobile 6.5 Rom Mine lags all the time. I'm not patient so i soft reset most of the time. it is pretty annoying

Same here.
Is there a 3rd party application that can be used? The only thing I can do to stop the lag, is to run traditional mode, which is not what I want. (HD2)
I disable the HTC Messaging service and use the WM client.
You can still use the HTC messaging from the contact page of a person, but it sets the WM as the default
See my post here and try it out if you want.
Theres no lag at all.
I still get the lag after I send a message and exit out of the screen to go back to sms inbox, anyone find a solution yet?
Hi im running android on a HTC fuze and i have some important sms messages i want to save to my pc. Is there any way i can get them copied to my pc???
Is this a question for while you are in WinMo (windows mobile) or are you attempting to do this while running Android? Please, help us help you!
Well, reading his post I would assume the SMS messages were received in Android...
I'll do some digging, I'm sure there's something.
Have you seen Google Voice tho? I think it's open now, and that's the best/easiest way to archive SMS messages.
Woops! Missed that...
I guess the question is, can you save/upload existing sms to GV? I want to say there was a free sms program that would allow exporting of sms. At the moment the name excapes my memory...

Not to my knowledge... Just for SMS messages going forward. Doesn't do him a whole lotta good, I know.
I'm actually kinda swamped at work today so I haven't been able to do any research on this yet...
For Windows Mobile, get Microsoft MyPhone.
For Android, there's SMS Backup, which sends your texts to gmail.

Gah, beat me to it I was going to suggest SMS Backup per this post!
Hi, my company has just changed our phones from G1's to Omnia 7's. I had a handy app on the G1 that I used to forward my SMS's to my personal phone (save carrying both around with me out of office hours). Is there anything available to do this on the Windows mobile 7 omnia at all ? Many thanks
I know that with NoDo you can press and hold on the text you got and it will give you an option to forward it. I don't remember that being there in 7004.

It was there before NoDo... I know cause I dont have NoDo yet and the forward option is indeed there.
Problem is that the OP probably wants an automated process, instead of having to press all SMS's, and for that I don't think there is an application yet.
Hi guys, many thanks for your replies, as Avandor has suggested, I really need this to be an automated process as the phone will probably be at home, so I need it to push it automatically, if possble.
It's been nearly a year now... has any SMS auto-forwarding app popped up yet?
I'm contemplating getting a WP7 phone but need this feature.
Thanks

Mmm, this is all I find:
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/8427cf9a-070a-4453-8024-56d21d81933e
It just looks like an app that sends pre-written SMSes to specific numbers.
I'm looking for something like this:

It's a security issue / consider Google voice instead

This is not possible in WIndows Phone 7.
Under Windows Mobile 6.5 you could write handlers to intercept text messages as they arrive and do various things, such as send it to an email address using an email account.
But, it would not immiately send. It would go to your outbox and only actually send when you synced.
It's kind of a security issue to allow any application to directly send SMS or make calls without any confirmation. I say kind of because any dev could have called a webservice or done an HTTP post to a site instead. But, imagine a malicious devloper making an app that text messages all of your contacts or random people without your knowledge or confirmation with each send. If they allowed the app you want, they would not be able to stop the malicious app.
You may want to consider Google Voice, since users can SMS the google voice number and it will forward to the numbers or email addresses that you wnat to recieve it on. Then you can reply from any device running a Google Voice app.
