Ive got a desire from Orange UK and Im using it here in Pakistan... I dont know why or how did the time zone get messed up. In the settings its showing the timezone as GMT +6 where as it is supposed to be GMT +5..it shows okay on the google website...
Ive manually entered the time for now but the HTC widget clock is still on the GMT +6 timezone..
Is there some kind of fix or workaround for this?
And is there some daylight saving option?
Secondly it shows correctly on my G1 which was also from the UK..
Try removing the widget and then replacing it back (only workaround for me).
You're using the Orange sim in South Asia?

I am using a Ufone sim here in Pakistan.
There is another problem with the workaround. It fixes the time mismatch problem but the messages are all jumbled up as the time on the received messages is still another ahead
I think the only fix would be to wait for froyo..maybe they have fixed the issue in that.. as the time zones are correct on 1.6 that my G1 is running!
i have created a patch for the timezone problem

howdy all,
beleive it or not but i am expiriencing massive problems keeping the time zone. roughly estimated since 2007, i am finding the zone to shift irregularly from GMT +1 Berlin to GMT -8 Seattle. this leading to a shift of all appointments and alarms means massive complications. i find this to be reproducable by opening the alarms sections and setting an alarm. as if this is abug, the time zone shifts around this action, though not directly traceable.
any ideas???
I am having the same problems. It makes it really hard to appreciate the calendar and alarm and keep using it.
it seems i have found at least a remedy for this somewhere else:
set both the "home" and the "visited" time zone to the required one on your ppc. that does it for me.
at all wm5 developers: HERE IS A BUG!
Yes, confirm that bug on Polish T-Mobile MDA3c.
Solution is to set both timezones to the one you want.
They dont change after that.
Thanks. I hope it works.
I had the same problem, ActiveSync changed Home Time zone to Visiting zone on every sync..
I then changed to the same zone on both and got rid of the problem..
Thanks alot, this was driving me crasy.
Not only on activesync.
A set my homezone, close window, open clocks windows again and i have old (bad) timezone.
I send email to htc, and open issue,

Bug and Workaround confirmed.
Updated the Wiki to.
and not to forget thanx you.
I had the smae problem on my cid unlocked Orbit with an HTC rom. I set both zones to gmt +1 - then did a soft reset - then set the visiting time zone back to gmt -8 so I dont wake anyone up when I call from Germany - and I have zero problems since then.
also on my t-mobile. but worse thing is after activesync then changing time manually back and soft-reset, I only could startup in safe-mode (from iLauncher). After a couple of hours all went OK again. one of my app is obviously checking time on files, freezing while it detects time bigger then current.
Thanks for advice
It's still a bug in WM5, an solved in WM6. So You should update to WM6 or set both timezones to the same time
I got problem with the time zone in windows mobile 6.1 in all ROM (4) I've tried.
The time zone is often automatically change to other time zone. In my case GMT +7 (Bangkok, Hanoi) to GMT +7 (Krasnoryask) [sometime], mostly to GMT+1 (prague, Budapest). Clock is also shifted according to "new time zone"
The problem is, all appointments schedulle timing are also shifted to GMT +1.
Is there anyway to fix this problem?
Thank you.

Geez Louise!! Why don't you learn to use your Hermes before you moan, it's in your owners manual. Settings/system/regional settings.........RTFM! or search before you post.
It happened to me too sometimes when I synchronize with my computer somehow that mades timezone changes without my intervention to a zone diferent from my computer or phone which I configured manually in "Settings/system/regional settings", so knowing where "Settings/system/regional settings" setting is doesn't solve the problem even reading the manual to locate "Settings/system/regional settings" doesn't made any difference because guess what, time zone change without you do anything.
cloud_kjo If you find the way to solve de problem please share with us, thank you
Actually, its got to do with the phone settings, look in Settings/Phone/Time Zones/ Uncheck auto change time zone and clock.
Fixed.
I don't think these responses address his problem. I think he's asking how to prevent his calendar appointments from changing.
Yes, you can set the phone to not update to the local time when you are traveling. That will prevent the change to your appointments. But it would be nice to have your phone be on the local time.
My understanding is that it's a deficiency (bug? feature?) in Windows Mobile (and apparently the Nokia OS, too). You CAN'T tell the appointments to not change to the local time, which is really stupid.
A workaround that I'm trying is to use the calendar to simply note your appointments, but not to put them in the time part. In other words, in the subject of your appointment, just put the time. The subject line won't be affected by any time zone changes.

??? Why were you so upset???
Have you read my entire question completely?
Just like Alarido said, it is not "how to set the regional settings", which I know from the "Manual", that it is located in "Setting/system/regional settings" whether "How to prevent or fix the hermes from auto changing its time zone" which from the "Manual" located in "setting/system/clock and alarms". I live in GMT+7 area and don't have any travelling abroad (yet) to GMT+1 area, but my Hermes sometimes "smartly" shift its time zone to GMT+1 automatically eventhough I'm in GMT+7 area.
This time shifting frequently occured after turning on the Hermes, sync with notebook (my notebook is in GMT+7 setting), and soft reset. However it could occured instantly too.
It ruin my entire calendar. Shifting back the time zone doesn't solve the problem because sometimes when my Hermes "smartly" shifting its time zone, it doesn't shift my calendar to GMT+1 time zone. e.g. On 8am I set a meeting on 11am (GMT+7), when Hermes "smartly" shift its time zone to GMT+1, the meeting is still on 11am, but the clock has been changed to 1am (GMT+1). When I shifting back the time zone to GMT+7, and click Yes, the meeting is altered to GMT+7+6, while the clock is slower 1 hour than it should be, in my example now my clock show 7am, the meeting now 5pm.
Until know I don't know how to solve this problem. 4 ROM have been tried, all give the same problem (the latest 3 ROM, didn't give a less one hour when the time zone is shifted back to where it should be).

Easy fix!
Go to settings/personal/phone, then "time zones" tab and uncheck "automatic change time zone and clock". It will never change your time zones again.
This issue has been addressed on numerous previous postings.
Perhaps you could set your appointments according to the timezone that you would like (i.e. if you are travelling from GMT+8 to GMT+1, you could set yr appointments in GMT+1 time).
How can this be done? Well if you're working from outlook on your PC, you can right click on the bar that displays the time (in daily view) and select the "Change Time Zone" option where you will have the option to display two time zones..
I hope that the above is clear.. Cheerios
Same Problem
I just found this thread.
I've have the same problem (though on HTC Touch Pro) as cloud_kjo. It's been happening to me, I believe, only ever since I've installed this time zone fix from Microsoft, which is essential in the time zone I reside in most of my days, namely Israel (so please don't offer that I remove it...).
It seems that most of the people on this thread haven't really read cloud_kjo's post, and the answers are mostly irrelevant. Same as cloud_kjo, my "automatic change time zone and clock" setting is unchecked, and still the problem occurs - time zone shifts automatically, to London (GMT) in my case.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks ai6908 for your answer. I never post anything and wait in hope for an answer unless I've serched the threads first. I haven't found a solution, yet.
I have exactly the same problem with Windows Mobile. I want the clock to change automatically when I arrive in another city (knowing the local time is very useful) but the last thing I need is for it to change all my appointments and flight times! I know how it works and why it works that way but to not give the user an option to turn off appointment changes is, IMO, lunacy. I have searched and there is no obvious solution so it looks like Windows Mobile is not for me. A product called TimeZone5 addressed this problem in earlier versions of WM but it doesn't work with 6.x. Anyone know if the IPhone has the same problem?
Nope, iPhone does not have this problem. Even if the timezone changes, the appointment time remains the same, which makes sense to me. I am looking for a solution to my HTC Cruise since the appointment timing is all messed up by the change in time zone.
Hi Guys,
Forgive me if i missed this in the search, but I couldn't find this subject already covered.
My issue is, that the clock on my TP2 keeps setting itself one hour ahead. I set the country and city ofcourse for my location but cannot find the settings for automatic/manual summer/winter time or where ever i might have missed setting a proper timezone.
Thanks for any feedback
Do you have automatic daylight correction switched on?
Originally yeah butonly when I first got it not anymore since I
changed the setting. typing this reply on it too cool!

err... i might have, but i cannot seem to find the setting... pointer please?
thanks
I found with my phone (I am in Perth, Western Australia) that my time kept getting set to a timezone that was GMT + 8 but that was on daylight savings and so my time was 1 hour out.
I fixed it by turning off auto time update:
- All settings
- Personal
- Phone
- Time Zones
- Uncheck 'Automatic change time zone and clock'
Hope that helps.
Thanks dude, i found the setting now.
The really odd part is, that the setting wasn't checked on... I tried that now and will update when i know if the clock keep setting itself one hour ahead
OK i found out that the clock still sets itself one hour ahead regardles of the setting to automatically change timezones in the phone settings. any other help is much welcome thanks guys.
Are your pc and phone on the same regional setting?
I had a similar problem when mine wasn't
the pc is set for the correct time zone, and i cannot find the place on the phone to set the timezone manually, except if the home city has anything to do with it
Ok, have you used the Weather Database Editor to add you home location to the system?
If so, the you need to go to the thread that you downloaded the weather app from, and on page 3, I think, are the instructions rto edit the weather file. the weather app misses a bit apparently
no, my city was already on the list to chose from ...
For example: Someone sent me a message at 5:00pm, but Desire time stamp says that message is sent at 6:00pm, or sometimes it would say 7:00pm...
How to fix that? Date and time on my desire is configured correctly...

what time did u receive it ? at 5 ?
Yep, at the same time when it was sent...
I've just made some tests, apparently it's only affecting some networks. Is it possible that network message server is set to wrong time?

Can't find it too . But, as I recall, my girlfriend had that option turned on, and I wasn't able to reply her because she was on other provider.
I've goggled that problem, and apparently it's showing a lot on WM devices...and they have some sort of fix...
I have the same Problem here. receive messages are never correct
had the same problem before..my sms conversation thread not showing the correct reply & response chronologically..what i did was to disable the AUTOMATIC (use network-provided values) under SETTINGS-DATE & TIME..also switched to Handcent app to manage my SMS..now it's displaying correctly
there is no solution for it.
I just got a used P1i about a week ago and noticed the SMS timing problem right away. What I did to solve the problem was to set my home zone to Vancouver( i live in vancouver and currently on Fido network), zone of interest to Reykjavik and finally set the current time zone to Buenos Aires. Once everything is set, then i manually adjust the time and date to Vancouver time.
My phone works fine for me now. Hope this will help you too.
cheers
download handcent from the market, it's a better messaging app than the stock one and it also fixes the timestamp issue
and best of all, its free! =)
There's an application on the Market called "SMS Time Fix" that automatically catches any incoming SMS and lets you apply a time offset to fix that... if anyone's still looking for a solution.
I have bought HTC Desire,
Time zone for my country , mentioned as '
Karachi, Islamabad' is Configured as GMT+6. Wheres as actual vorrect timezone is GMT+5.
All my calender, appointments, world clock etc are offset by an hour and are not useable.
I contacted HTC support regarding this and they say no fix is available for now
Can anyone help me fix this problem please? Or shall i throw away this otherwise nice device?
Cheers

turn off automatic network provided values in settings > date and time
set time zone manually
That is the best solution until HTC release a fix.
