Hi,
automatic backlight is still too bright for me in almost any environment. I want to control the brightness of the screen by setting other values.
Is there an app or a hack to do this?
Good question. Loved to know too!
Look under widgets and you will find one called
"Brightness"
I'll let you figure the rest out for yourself

Try to using
Brightenes Level App
I recommend "SwitchPro Widget", which is available from the Marketplace. It allows you to toggle the brightnees, even to levels lower than the automatic setting.
Hi, i dont want to change brightness manually, but want to change the default values which are used for automatic brightness. Is this possible?
Does no one knows??
Hmmm would be handy!

Perhaps you could put some tinted glass/plastic over the sensor, so the phone thinks it's darker than it actually is and doesn't make the screen as bright?

good idea, but that's not the resolution, even in night it's very bright and for me even at manual 1% brightness it's a bit to bright for me...
would be awesome to have more possibilities to work with the amoled screen - by the way - for black it needs 0% energy so better to read white letters on black background
edit: me using "Quick Settings" to handle brightness etc.
Hi I am using dimmer lite download frm market place suits my usage

I would like the automatic brightness to be just a bit more brighter when im outside. Would be great to be able to adjust it!!
If there was something like a -2 -1 0 +1 +2 way to adjust it!
Dont want manually keep setting the brightness all the time.
I just tried the app called Dimmer.
It is perfect.
Goes to a very low setting and then switches back to whatever you had before.
I have the same problem with my Desire that the Auto Brightness doesn't go all the way down and the HTC Denmark support basically just said meh. And said they would report it as a wish for future updates.

This app is great! Thank you!
I have my phone on autobacklight, but I find that in dark settings its too bright!!
This app does what I want with a simple click! Shame however that there's no way to reduce the lowest brightness on auto setting built into the OS.
Hello to all!!.. is possible to find an application to tweak the saturation of the SGS2 screen!!?... it has the worst color rendition I saw in a cellular screen, I work in photography I can not even show the pictures in my telephone!!... I like this phone but with the screen of the iphone, miles away better.
Best regards!

The saturation sliders does not work

Thanks for your feedback, the only problem is the Saturation slider, it does not work on my SGS2 and that slider is the most important
Besides that, that application is not done in good way, the RGB sliders has to modify de levels of color not the levels of brightness as the application do.
Moving all the sliders to the left has to decrease saturation not brightness as it does in a wrong way.
Regards!
I`m disappointed too with the screen colours. If I take a picture of white walls it seems to have a white-green colour. In my old HTC HD2 with HyperDroid-CM7-2.3.7,the white was brilliant white. If I put the same picture that I taked with the HTC in my SGSII,the white looks a lot greener. Is there a fix for that problem?

The colors of SGS2 are pure crap, I dont understand why there are lot of people interested in develop a firmware but they forget this part that is really important, you pay lot of money for a phone that gives you crap colors, totally biased and has no possibility to calibrate them.
Totally agree...My old HD2 with 5MP camera takes a lot better photos than SGSII.The problem is RGB calibration of the screen, not the camera.

Yes, I refer to the color rendition of the screen.
+1 for this... couldn't find any screen tuner/gamma adjuster/saturation adjuster or whatsoever for i9100 that work in ICS...
And my screen is way too blueish... and color is washed....

The gamma should not be modified, if some app is modifying the gamma is doing the wrong thing, it should modify RGB values or saturation remaining the brightness constant.
Hmmm, i thought it was gamma thing also... since I hate the blueish tint... I prefer warmer color.... >,<

What you are looking for is the Kelvin temperature to change, changing the gamma curve will change the behavior of brightness and color and that is not the way.
The controls that should have the telephone are real RGB controls without modifying the brightness, Temperature and Saturation, even better Contrast (but it should not change the colors), with that controls you could calibrate the screen the way best fit to you.
Maybe that's the control that included in CM9...
please try this in your phone .set your brightness in lowest .For me it's most noticeable when i'm scrolling slowly, e.g. when in the settings menu, or the twitter app. Try scrolling very slow up or down in settings,.
I think this should be common problem .please test your one .
Yes that happens, but it is not an actual screen flickering issue, rather an optical illusion created by textured backgrounds. I don’t use twitter, therefore not sure what kind of a background it has, but if you look closely at the white background displayed in phone settings, you will see that it has a textured background with very thin diagonal lines. Its more visible when the brightness is low because otherwise the lines are too light to be noticed.
Go to this page and scroll the page, you will see the same flickering effect on your computer monitor

this link shows the problem that I have with my phone .in this link I see same flickering and I understand this is a optical illusion .but I think our phones problem is not a optical illusion .because I tried several htc one x ,30% of them had this problem .also you can find this problem in any white page.
Can you find this flickering in your phone ?
what about others ?
Just as well I'm using auto brightness - no issues for me!
Seriously, are you trying to find problems??
Try with screen filter app. It flickering a lot
I found a new issue - when I look at my screen through my polarised Ray Bans I see random colours and it flickers like mad - it MUST be faulty!!

I can ONLY see the flickering effect in the settings page. It doesn't happen on any other normal white backgrounds. That is why I said it is an optical illusion.

Mine goes really green (greys) at low brightness.
@mattabyte can you please check this too? Check it in a very dark room/night at low brightness (not the lowest). And please report here.

one plus providing fix for this on next ota plus ram fix tooo so wait
Yes, I get this. I also get purple trails.
This can't be fixed, I don't think, unless they raise the lowest brightness. From my searching it looks like an issue with quite a few older AMOLED phones.
Well, greys would become pink on my Nexus 6P as well. But for it it turned green which looked really weird. I sent in for a replacement.
I have a slight purple tint to some grays on low brightness, yes.
I also have blue/purple trails when dragging black items over a dark background on the screen, visible on all brightnesses but much more so on low.
Yellowish screen
I also have a little issue with my screen. My screen gets yellowish on the left when the background is grey, this don't happens when another color is shown...
Is this a software issue and can it be fixed or do I need to return the phone?
youtube.com/watch?v=8IlHPtAXWGE
I made a video showing this issue.... That clearly appears on grey backgrounds.
Do you guys think that the upcoming update could also fix this issue ?
I also have yellowish tint on the right side of my screen

Yes, display uniformity problems are unfortunately very common on the OP3, as also a thread in Oneplus' own forum shows (with a poll). You have to return the device for a replacement as often as you need to finally have a device with even screen.
I'm searching for an app or something to increase my lowest brightness because pixel 2xl screen is kinda sh*tty in very low brightness. All the apps that I can find offer only the opposite by applying a filter.
Anyone knows anything that can be done?

Are you stock or rooted??. If rooted, you can set minimum brightness levels with a custom kernel and the EXKM app :good:
I'm not sure I understand your question.
When set at it's lowest setting, the display brightness is not bright enough?
Why not move the slider to a little brighter of a setting?

That's what I do until now. I was curious though if I can automate it and not mess with the slider all the time. I keep it at the middle with auto brightness but in the dark the brightness gets too low and the black crush and ghosting is unbearable.

I bought full version awhile ago, not sure what restrictions if any there are in free version.

Oh. So you want to set the perfect brightness as the lowest settings so you just have to swipe all the way left instead of finding the sweet spot with the slider?
Still crazy, but now I get it

I think the right expression is blind as a bat. Thanks mate. @azbiker something like that. I just couldn't find an optimal setting for both day and night.

Auto brightness at 50% still gets you crushed blacks? Can't test that now cause I'm on DP2 but I'm pretty sure when I had that same setting, it was too bright for me actually.

Try this to automate completely! :good: Integrates with Tasker and a tasker plugin named Twilight to change based on home or not, sun rise or sun down, travel speed (brighter walking / dimmer in a vehicle). Incrediable app, I've used it for 4-5 years on many devices. Does not require root but works well if you are rooted.

I set it around 40-45 and in a dark room is really bad. Well reading is ok at that brightness but everything else is a nightmare.
