Before this purchase, I was using a Sony Xperia X10. I loved the sound both from the phone and the included earbuds. Problem with the GS 3 is the sound is absolutely horrible. The phone sounds nice enough to be acceptable from the speakers. The moment I use any set of earbuds they sound distorted if I turn them up a little. There is very little bass response and I can't seem to tweak it to my liking. Has anyone else had this issue? I just purchased this phone and would return it if these issues aren't normal. Besides that I'm happy with the phone in terms of its hardware and call quality.

Nevermind, I seem to have resolve my problem with a better set of earbuds. No distortion and sound quality is much improved! 1 less thing to worry about

When you call granny, does she keep saying "Huh?! Wut?!" or does the conversation flow pretty well? Rate this thread to express how you feel about the Google Pixel's call quality. A higher rating indicates that calls are clear and crisp, and that regardless of background noise, you can hear the other party clearly (and with ample volume) and they can hear you.

Best call quality I have had on any phone.
Agreed. VoLTE is life changing when talking to someone else using the technology. Even my wife noticed.
Wonder if the cloth ear piece speaker grill has anything to do with this? The call quality has been very good for me. On other phones the earpiece can sound hollow or distant. The Pixel sounds more like talking to someone across a boardroom.
Yes. Best call quality I've had on any phone.

Just got off my first conference call on this phone. The other party (using a Polycom-type setup to broadcast multiple people in a room) said that my call quality was the best they have heard from a mobile phone.
Proper etiquette aside (hint: don't use speakerphone while doing your "business" in a public bathroom), rate this thread to express how you think the Samsung Galaxy S8+'s speakerphone performs. A higher rating indicates that you love it: it's loud and it's clear.

What did you say?
Sounds like me and my wife. Thanks for commenting - I'm looking into a new phone, and appreciate hearing this. Seems like all everyone wants to talk about are the camera, videos, speed, how good it looks, etc. Reviews leave out how well it works as a phone.

The sound seems perfect
It's the best and clearest speakerphone I have used. I even use it in my car in preference over the factory hands-free.
Played music using my S8 Active (assuming they are alike) next to iPhone X, the loud speaker of the iPhone X was way better.
Can't say is perfect. As ex user, of htc phones with boomsound, this speaker sounds like a joke to me, sorry but I had to say it. I also read that, the speaker is ****ty and will continue to be with the next flagships because it's hard to make good speaker with water resistance. So we have to deal with it. Also depends how you hold the phone, for example when I play games I don't have any sound because of the way I hold the phone hand is always on the speaker and I can't hear a single sound.
My iPhone 6 had better sound. S8 sounds small and tinny.
Try these settings and tell me if you like them more. Volume is decreased but sound quality is miles better in my opinion.
any idea what is the RMS rating of the speakers? will the S9 be better?
i don't think its very loud at all
Hey guys! Does anybody get any crackles or rattling at max volume when listening to a podcast or when using the speaker during a call?
awesome work
My experience with the speaker is different contrary to what most people on YouTube says. My S8+ sounds pretty audible even in relatively crowded places, sometimes I even had to lower the volume. Clarity is acceptable too. But it's not the best speaker by any means, just isn't as bad as what people says. Mine's Exynos variant.
Hii
Thanks!
My speaker seems clear but I do prefer the stereo speakers on s9

Yes i have same issue my laud speaker sounds crackle when i listen to ws vns, or watching youtube videos were people are talking.
My speaker is.. different than 99% of the answers.
Mine is actually amazing. Bass response is there, treble, mids, and it's pretty loud too.

I think this is one of the areas people complain about the quality of the phones. Some says it only has a single speaker despite having two places meant for that and the quality lacks bass and other related sound quality levels. From what I have seen on YouTube the sound quality is just on average and I would have not cause for alarm about that when I know what the price for the phone is.
If at the end I found out the speakers produced poor sounds I would have to get good quality headphones for it.
Nevertheless, I ordered one and it's on the way. One thing that really strikes me the most about the phone is the sheer size and weight people complain about, 6-inch screen and over 0.225 KG respectively. Perhaps, I like my handsets to be beefy and have big estate for watching videos and viewing messages.

if you have root right on your alpha, you can install dolby atmos, which helps to improve a bit the sound.
Hi All,
I just wanted to know the general consensus of people on the speaker quality during music playback. For starters, the volume output is definitely high and the vocals are crisp and clear! But I feel it lacks the bass punch and somehow the low-frequency notes do not really come out.
Also, what mode of setting have you kept you "Dolby Atmos" setting to, mine is in "Music" preset. I guess this setting also applies to speaker output doesn't it? But, I haven't observed any significant difference between any of those modes/preset , is it only me or you all think it's the same?
Is there any way we can make the speaker quality better than the current factory tuning? Let me know your feedback folks!
