Best call quality I have had on any phone.
Agreed. VoLTE is life changing when talking to someone else using the technology. Even my wife noticed.
Wonder if the cloth ear piece speaker grill has anything to do with this? The call quality has been very good for me. On other phones the earpiece can sound hollow or distant. The Pixel sounds more like talking to someone across a boardroom.
Yes. Best call quality I've had on any phone.

Just got off my first conference call on this phone. The other party (using a Polycom-type setup to broadcast multiple people in a room) said that my call quality was the best they have heard from a mobile phone.

The call Quality is excellent. I'm coming from a background of a Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z3 an Alcatel Idol One Touch 3 and a number of other phones. The speaker phone quality is awesome and the earpiece quality is very good as well and no one has to ever say they cannot hear me. I'm very pleased with my purchase beyond the shadow of a doubt.
Fairly good and reliable signal
I know it's not unique to the G5 but the HD voice calls on Verizon are pretty good. I just wish it wasn't solely a Verizon thing.

it isn't.
On the off-brand T-Mobile aka MetroPCS with the EU H850...best speeds I've had on a phone but I was with Sprint for so long that barely counts...
European H850 here and it has hd voice too... sounds pretty good
Poor but I think its a defective device. I have a G4 on the same network and it is flawless.
The best I've experienced as you'd expect, it's difficult to make. Judgement though given I switched networks with my latest contract. There are probably too many variables to give a concrete answer but calls are always crisp with 2+ signal. 4.5/5 for me.
Id give it a 4/5. Using HD voice apps to get its full potential, it is crystal clear
Nice call quality. But, when it's really really windy (and only then), my moto x force does the noise filtering job much much better tough.

No complaints, everyone hear me...I hear them...everyone is happy. No background noises what so every, very ...very clear.
Clear sound, had to turn down the default volume though, the first caller made me jump as he began to speak!
Hey Honor 8 owners! What is background noise cancelling like? What if you use the speaker instead and hence have the mic away from your mouth? Thanks in advance.

Works well, I've never had any trouble walking on speaker phone, I can both hear the person and they can hear me.
So I have no complaints!
Anyone install a sound mod? I hear Dolby can definitely improve it!
Call clarity has been great, hearing the other party clearly. Though, it doesn't integrate with Google Voice like other phones do.
As a very unsatisfied previous owner of a Moto X Pure with VoLTE choppy audio on T-Mobile network, I am very satisfied with the call audio quality of the Honor 8. Even in low bandwidth areas VoLTE is very clear. Great speaker phone. I wish it was a little louder in speaker phone mode. But it seems that all Android phones are this way from my experience.
No complaints on call quality/volume here. It just works....!
okay quality when talking
Very clear, no issues at all
Hi , call quality is great , sound is clear .. but ..
i am using L10 , with 2 sims , the 4G major sim works just great in calls , the 2G one always get disconnected and / or very bad call sound quality.
i exchanged the sims , and the 4g / 2g options , and still facing the same problem ! so when i want to use sim 2 for a clear call , i just have to set it to 4G , then set it back to 2G after the call .
Huawei Honor 8 FRD-L10 running B380 Android 7
I use two sim card.. and the call quality is actually very good.. couse this is the firs phone I can hear my girlfriend very clear LooOOooL.. becouse on every other phone she sounds very silent .. but on this one its not the case.. I hear her very good and clear..
Clarity is very good as well as the volume.
good call quality.no issue
Call quality is good but then the hybrid sim support ruined the fun here. Wish it had dual sim+sdcard support
Loud and clear calls.

Sound is distorted.... from most callers.. but not from all of them.. (to loud??)
I too found call quality lacking.
I don't have issues with calls at all. Same quality as I had on Note 5, Nexus 6p and iPhone e 7plus

Phone Quality is good, but when it comes to Whatsapp Calls or Skype its pretty bad compared to my really old iPhone 5s, people do complain a lot and ask me to use a headset cause if put on Speaker they cant hear me very well.
Call quality is decent imo, microphone's sensitivity could be a bit better. Yesterday while driving I received a call so I had to use loud speaker mode. The phone was lying on the passenger's seat and the person I talked with could hardly hear me
Call quality issue was fixed for me on 4.0.2!!! now is perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!
****** (five stars now) .. but changing vote not allowed .. REALY !?!
Sounds like crap...:crying:
Both myself and my friend have the 3T, we both complain about the quality and we both cant hear each other.
It's very decent IMO.
OnePlus 3T - OxyOS 4.0.2 (Nougat)
Running two SIMS - AT&T and T-Mobile in Dallas. Call quality is really inconsistent. I get lots of people complaining about me breaking up. Never had this problem with my LG G4 on either network. Would love OnePlus to enhance their radio or at least allow some tuning of the radio.
So far, "thumbs down" on the call quality.
I have been using iPhones for years before switching to the OP3T now. Although I'm happy with the decision overall, call quality definitely is a step down from the iPhone, particularly in terms of clarity.
Not too bad though, so it's still ok.

Also have a lot of trouble with Whatsapp and Skype calls both on Oneplus 3 & 3T.... I beg for the developers to fix this, i suppose it is only due to OS optimization of these apps or just poor microphone settings
Yep, same here unfortunately. I have serious issues when calling via hangout. My girlfriend complains about not hearing me as well as about seeing bad video quality. Never ever had such problems with my nexus 6p or my iPhone 6s plus...
Actually this is kind of frustrating...

i thought it was pretty good. better then my note 4
Anyone moved to one plus 3T from S7 edge or lg g5?
How good is the call quality compared to them? Voice clarity and volume.
Thank you
It's better from s7 edge more clean.

You mean the S7 edge is better. The sound is louder in the S7 edge, one thing i really noticed. And the screen colours...
No i mean the call quality in op3t its better.

Nope, not in my opinion! Or my s7 edge was very good or the OP3T i have now is really bad. I can listen well but the sound was better in the S7.

What did you say?
Sounds like me and my wife. Thanks for commenting - I'm looking into a new phone, and appreciate hearing this. Seems like all everyone wants to talk about are the camera, videos, speed, how good it looks, etc. Reviews leave out how well it works as a phone.
See gsmarena review on loudspeaker
The sound seems perfect
It's the best and clearest speakerphone I have used. I even use it in my car in preference over the factory hands-free.
Played music using my S8 Active (assuming they are alike) next to iPhone X, the loud speaker of the iPhone X was way better.
Can't say is perfect. As ex user, of htc phones with boomsound, this speaker sounds like a joke to me, sorry but I had to say it. I also read that, the speaker is ****ty and will continue to be with the next flagships because it's hard to make good speaker with water resistance. So we have to deal with it. Also depends how you hold the phone, for example when I play games I don't have any sound because of the way I hold the phone hand is always on the speaker and I can't hear a single sound.
My iPhone 6 had better sound. S8 sounds small and tinny.
Try these settings and tell me if you like them more. Volume is decreased but sound quality is miles better in my opinion.
any idea what is the RMS rating of the speakers? will the S9 be better?
i don't think its very loud at all
Hey guys! Does anybody get any crackles or rattling at max volume when listening to a podcast or when using the speaker during a call?
awesome work
My experience with the speaker is different contrary to what most people on YouTube says. My S8+ sounds pretty audible even in relatively crowded places, sometimes I even had to lower the volume. Clarity is acceptable too. But it's not the best speaker by any means, just isn't as bad as what people says. Mine's Exynos variant.
Hii
Thanks!
My speaker seems clear but I do prefer the stereo speakers on s9

Yes i have same issue my laud speaker sounds crackle when i listen to ws vns, or watching youtube videos were people are talking.
My speaker is.. different than 99% of the answers.
Mine is actually amazing. Bass response is there, treble, mids, and it's pretty loud too.

Hate to say it but my call quality is horrible.
I've not had one conversation that didn't break up. My girlfriend and I used to talk for like an hour or two before bed an now it's like 10 minutes because at home whether I'm on wifi or cellular she only hears like every third word.
It's terribly dissapointing.
I really wish I'd gone for the pixel xl
I'm about to switch back to Samsung ! This McLaren cell reception sucks bad !
Am I the only one who's cell reception (calls not data) drops frequently? I have to reboot the device once or twice a day to make sure I can get calls. For a month I had no idea I was missing calls because the data stayed connected. I thought it might be a TMobile tower or APN issue, but it has happened in several locations. If I do *#*#4636#*#* it clearly shows the voice connection is not connected. This is a bad look for an otherwise good phone. I may have to switch phones.
