Vibration duration / pattern - Desire General

Is there any way to change the notification vibration for messages / calls? Every normal phone up until I changed to the desire had heaps of different vibrate options, duration, patterns, sync with music etc.

i use missed call, it allows all that. bit ****ty having to install an app for it though, as you say.

Hi
I use an app called Bar Control, use it to create a button on the notification bar for PrefsSoundVibration. You should be able to do what you're asking for from there.

separating the Ring and Notification volume levels

Anyone have any sort of work around to enable independent control of the ringer and notification volume levels in ICS? Do any of the custom Roms have this ability?

No, they don't. Try this. Download Lightflow if you don't already have it, and try and set the notification tone for texting through that. I read somewhere the other day that the Lightflow notification will either override the global system volume or the other way around. I'm not exactly sure but download Lightflow and poke around in there.
It had something to do with setting the text volume in lightflow and the ringer volume with the global notifications.
Goodluck.
Thanks, I'll give that a try.

I have been using a profile application for a work around just like lightflow is doing, except with more functionaliTY. Basically I have been using Setting Profiles to set an incoming text messages or SMS message always to a profile with a particular ringtone, at a particular volume level. Same for phone calls. Then set exceptions to profiles for vibrate, silent, etc. That way at night I can tell my phone to go to silent but with an exception for phone calls. This is basically saying be quiet for notification sounds, but not for phone calls. There are other exceptions and possibilities but the end result is separate ringer and notification volumes. I can explain more if you are interested.
Does this work with other notifications like Google* or Twitter as wella sms?

Unfortunately I don't think so. But I also use LightFlow and I don't see where it lets you choose the volume level of the notification so it doesn't quite do the job either.
What I do is set my ringer volume to what I want it to be for notifications (any notification as controlled by the program the notification is coming from). Then I set rules for incoming calls and SMS (which is what SettingProfiles supports) to sound at a different ringer volume. That way I have effectively "separated" my volumes and still am able to have unique ringtones for the different applications that support it. Examples are:
1. Make a profile for Silent
2. Make a profile for Ringer set to max
3. Make rule in SettingProfiles for incoming calls to activate the Ringer profile
4. Put phone in Silent profile (ringer speaker completely muted so no ring or notifications)
5. Phone call comes in and Incoming call rule activates the Ringer profile for that call
The result is all notifications are silenced. I get an incoming call and it triggers the ring rule so my phone will still ring. Once the incoming call stops (either i answer it or it goes to vmail or whatever), it exits the Ringer rule and goes back to the state it was in before, which is my Silent profile.
The way I'm doing it, you don't need an application that handles notifications for each application. It's just changing your ringer volume based on different conditions. It only supports incoming call, unread SMS/MMS, schedule, time period, etc, though. But that's fine for me because I usually want all notifications to be whatever volume I've set my speaker to, except for phone calls and text messages, which under certain conditions, I always want to be allowed to sound, and sound loudly at maximum volume.
I use LightFlow to repeat notify for text messages and missed calls and change the notifications for various apps it supports, but all that is for is changing the LED, ringtone, repeat notify, etc. It doesn't do anything for the volume of any of those notifications, at least not specifically supported in the application anyway.
I use SettingProfiles to change the VOLUME of my speaker based on rules and priorities and use LightFlow to change the TYPE of notifications I receive in various applications.

Cant change default Notification sound??

I cant get my default notification sound to change - I can change the gmail new email sound to change from within the gmail settings but for pop email, sms etc the sound doesn't change no matter which sound I pick?
Am I doing something wrong?
Tks
Have a look at the guide below.

Personalizing with sound sets
Each sound set gives you a different combination of sounds for your ringtone and notifications such as incoming messages, email, calendar event reminders, and more. By switching between sound sets, you can instantly make HTC One X ring or alert you with fun sounds when you're out with friends or change to subtle sounds while you're at work.
Creating a sound set
Slide the Notifications panel open, and then tap > Personalize.
On the Sound tab, tap Sound set.
On the Sound sets screen, tap .
Enter a new sound set name, and then tap Done.
The newly created sound set is then added to the list of sound sets. You can assign different tones to the sound set to your preference.
Changing your ringtone, notifications, and sounds
Slide the Notifications panel open, and then tap > Personalize.
On the Sound tab, tap Sound set.
Choose a sound set you want to customize, or create a new one, and then tap Apply.
Change the ringtone, notification sound, and alarm from the Personalize screen.
HTC One X automatically saves your choices to the current sound set.
Deleting sound sets
Slide the Notifications panel open, and then tap > Personalize.
On the Sound tab, tap Sound set.
Tap .
Select one or more sound sets you want to delete.
Tap Delete.

I think the poster meant that regardless of which sound you set as notification sound, it will still use the default notification sound. Just to clarify, even though it wasn't necessary as I've owned an htc android phone before, I did read the guide as i was stumped too. I can select any custom sound for notifications, it just doesn't use it. It's different for email notifications though, that will use the sound I set without problems... Anyone have a fix? It was like this since it first came out of the box.

[Q] Vibration alerts questions.

I am coming from a HTC Sensation 4g and its SMS vibration was very reasonable for SMS alerts and what not, but on my note it is too long in duration.
Is there a way to make the SMS or other alert vibration settings much shorter. I found the settings for the vibration settings for the phone call, but i can not locate it for other alerts. It would be great, right now it was irritatingly long.
Cheers!

I believe it is in settings > sound > Ringtone and notifications > device vibrations for the actual pattern, and ...sound > vibration intensity has a seperate notification slider for how strong the notification vibration is (notifications are for sms and email etc)

I'm having the same issue. The vibrate for emails, sms, ect is always one big long vibrate. I tried the solution offered by @_Dennis_ but changing the settings here: "Settings -> Sound -> Device Vibration" don't seem to have any effect. I put it on 'Ticktock', and still the vibration is one long vibrate when emails come in, sms, etc. Has anyone found a way to change that?
Thanks!
Im glad im not the only one that can not figure it out.
I have my vibration set to heartbeat or something, it is short pulses. But the SMS alert is still a full on 2 second constant vibration.

Set volume level for individual apps

Is it possible? I like to use viper studio because it allowed me to make the volume louder then usual, and This allows phone calls to wake me up out of my sleep (it's my job calling 90% of the time) but this also let's facebook notifications, emails, etc to wake me up. So I want phone calls to have Max volume, while other notifications to be not as loud

Notification and ringer volume are two different streams.. just adjust ringer volume Max and notification volume to min.

You could try LightFlow and it has different settings for apps that you can choose how the notification volume is set and controlled. It can also controll the volume as a relative volume to "x" or control the volume directly by itself too.
I'm sure ou can have a ball with the settings! I did, and it even shuts some of my apps up when I insert the charging cable. (only text messaging is announced when charging)

Notification help

So I'm loving my G3 but there is a small issue that I'm having. I have my general notifications set to one sound and my ring tone set to another like I have with every other Android phone I've owned. For the most part everything works perfect, but several times I got a notification and it played my ring tone. Not for one single app either, it was different ones. Some apps I could check the notification sound and within the app it had it set for the ring tone. I change it, but other apps don't give that option, like games.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to correct this?

Still having this issue. It seems like any app that has notifications that I cant manually assign a sound to within the app settings will sometimes use the ringtone sound rather than the notification sound. Has no one else had this problem?
