Hi,
I have a HTC Desire and I received a vcard from a nokia phone via SMS.
I opened the message and it showed a vcard attached.
I clicked on the vcard and received the message: "The vcard has been imported successfully".
The thing is that I cant find that contact anywhere .... where are they saved?
Try looking for unknown in your people tab, vcards don't work for me!

nop, no "unknown" found...
They don't work for me either. I had someone email me the vcards and itdid nothing when downloaded 'run'.
I found a way but not via SMS...
IF you receive the vcard via Bluetooth, then go to People > Menu > Import> From SD Card. The phone will import the vcard (Will ask you where to import it - Phone or Google).
Still no idea how to save the vcard from sms to card or import it directly.

Same here. Desire has a big bug.
Don't think its just the Desire. A lot of phones struggle with vCards irrespective of how it is transmitted or at least that has been my experience.

Worked for me when sended via MMS.
I found its possible to forward the vcard, and then in the editing screen obtain the phone number etc.

I have received vcards, and they have been saved to my contacts, no problem

If you "Forward" the message on, you can then atleast see the details of the vcard contact.
From there you'll have to get your paper and pen out and create a new contact.
Not the best, but atleast you can retrieve the number.

Hello all, have looked but couldn't find any posts about this problem (although I recall reading about this problem some time ago) so please, apologies if this duplicates previous posts.
I have checked the box to keep mail sent in the sent mail folder and am using the pocket outlook application supplied with the BA.
Am using an IMAP email account to send and receive email and have confirmed emails are being sent no problem (sent one to my work email and see it hitting my in box), mail is being received by the BA no problem as well.
The problem is when I send an email it isn't keeping a copy of it in the folder called "Sent Items", this goes the same for my SMS messages :x
I am using GPRS to send the emails at the moment but I guess this shouldn't make any difference.
Am i missing something here or have to reset for changes to take place or something??????
Your guidance is apprecaited.
copy send items
Go to tools - Options in messaging and tick the box keep copy of send mail in send folder ans your problems is solved i think
Hi,
I have a general question: Is it possible (in WM6.1 or new Manila) to send a vcard contact via eMail (and not via MMS)? If I choose "Send contact" always it opens the send MMS dialogue, and I cannot save the vcard file.

hi,
I'm very interested in a solution for this too. When you can only send the contact card pr mms, the new "my contact card"-feature from manial doesn't make sense
I wonder if someone has found a solution to this problem yet? The new manila contacts works so good - but how can I exchange a contact via email?
Eriol
Wow. I find it hard to believe that this isn't possible. Has anyone figured this out yet...?
Meanwhile I am using a newer Manila
but I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
Even HTC seems to ignore this problem - any workarounds/ideas or (freeware) tools that may help us here???
Thanks,
Eriol
Yes, this is unbelievable !
I'm using a workaround for this.
1st/ start a send vcard (MMS)
2nd/ the card is stored in folder /temp. Filename seems always to be 'me.vcf'
3rd/ attach it to a normal email using whatever kind of file explorer !!
this thread is 2 years old, i guess we can consider the matter resolved. also, i already posted a detailed tutorial on this matter a few months ago.
Hi all,
I have been googling around, both on XDA and beyond, and have found no solution to this problem so far..
When I send mail using my exchange account, the mail is sent as it should, hovewer a message pops up "The message have been saved successfully".
What happens, is that my phone, together with sending the message, saves it in the DRAFTS folder. My recipient receives the e-mail as usual, but if I go to my DRAFTS folder, I can see a copy of my sent message there.
Strange enough, if I open this "draft" and then press SEND - the message is sent (again, so that the recipient receives a copy of the first message) but then I can no longer see this mail in DRAFTS folder.
Anyone with a similar problem?
Cheers..
Yep same here.
Rather than starting a new thread, perhaps continue here?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682777
Something that I thought should be simple but strangely (for Android) it's not.
If you get sent contact details in a vcard, it gets saved to the phone memory. I still can't see how to save that vcard info to my Google account.
Anyone got any ideas? A feature I've missed? An app? I use Handcent but that's a bit poo for vcards so I have to go back to the native Messages app to even view vcards.
Any ideas???
+1
I too need it, by far couldn't succeed that. It would be the best way to keep your contacts with details that sim cannot store.

This is the response I got from HTC when I asked for any method they know to get contacts from the phone to the Google account:
I would advise you to savbe the V-Card to your phones memory, so that it show in your contacts. Then in the People app, press Import/Export then Export to SD card. Choose the contact you wish to export. We have now exported a copy of that contact to the memory card. Now.. We are going to import it back into the phone as a Google contact, so, From the People main screen, press Menu, Import & Export, Import from SD card, choose as 'Google' contact. This will now have made that V-Card a Google contact. If you then Sync your phone to your Google account by going to Menu, Settings, Accounts & Sync, tap 'Sync All' this will send the new contact to your Google account. Then you will be able to see this new contact in your Google Mail - Contacts section.

The only problem I had with these instructions is that I found exporting contacts is all or nothing. You can't pick and choose. Luckily for me, all my contacts are on my Google account so it was only the one vcard sent by MMS that I wanted to transfer over.
HTH
I received a vcard from a friend and I am unable to import the contact. I installed Handcent and it was able to import the contact fine.
I also notice that you only have to send/share contacts via bluetooth. Am I doing something wrong ?
