Hopefully someone here can brainstorm with me and find a way to get the EVO for $199 on launch day. Here is my situation:
I have a Touch Pro on my primary line that was pristine, but is now on its death bed (unfortuante pet accident). I don't have insurance on the phone (I know...i'm an idiot!). I am not eligible for the $150 upgrade until 8/1/2010 (22nd month, contract is up on 10/1), but I doubt that my phone will last that long. I have a second line on my acct that is eligible for the $150 upgrade credit but I was planning on removing that line as it rarely gets used. I have a $200 ETF until the end of contract, so that's not an option.
I called CS and even account services (retentions) and the best they would do is move up my eligibility date to 7/1. My TP might last until then but I was hoping there might be another way.
If anyone has any suggestions i'd very much appreciate it. If not i'll just suck it up and wait until July 1st. Thanks!
Get it for $199 on your second line, reactivate the old phone back on that line, then switch the EVO to your primary line. Just buy the EVO at RadioShack or Best Buy or else your $100 mail-in rebate won't go through.

Yup what he said, I believe it's only an extra 10 bucks for the second line.

That sounds all well and good, but my goal is to:
1) Retain my primary phone #
2) be able to remove the secondary out of contract line, ending up with only one phone on the acct with the primary phone #.
I was told that getting the Evo on the secondary line (and activating it on the primary line) would renew the contract for the secondary line another 2 years, which I do not want to do. Where does that leave me with the Primary line though? I of course realize I have to renew my contract on one of the lines, but I definitely don't want to renew both. I believe the minimum plan I have to use if I have two lines on my acct (one of which is the Evo) is the $129 Everything plan. Right now i have an old $59.99 family plan with $10 unlimited data; they surely won't let me get an Evo and keep that plan!
In the end, will what you folks recommended allow me to achieve that?
Get evo on 2nd line
Port number from 1st like to 2nd line
Cancel 1st line
Might work?

You're going to end up paying an ETF if you absolutely must cancel the second line...
You can get the phone on the 2nd line but there are some stipulations
1. You must retain the 2nd line for 60 days otherwise it is considered fraud and you forfeit your rebate.
2. You can switch your evo to the primary as long as you have another phone to put on the 2nd line
3. You don't have to wait to do this. This can be done immediately.

I would rather not retain the 2nd line as it is my mom's 'emergency' Samsung flip phone and is rarely used (~ 30 min of usage a month, no data or texting). The plan was to drop it and get her a prepaid phone. I only pay $10/mo right now to have it on my current contract, which is $59.99 for both lines. With the new contract it's more like $60 a month more ($69.99 vs 129.99 for the two line Everything Data), definitely a waste of $$$ compared to what I pay now for that second line.
Also, paying a $200 ETF negates any savings i'd realize getting the phone at the upgrade pricing.
At this moment i have a pre-order at Best Buy, so let's assume I am not worried about the rebate.
So, let's say I get the phone on the secondary line upgrade eligibility, then activate it on the primary line. That I assume will leave me with:
1) The secondary line I don't want with a new 2 year contract and
2) The primary line with a new EVO which I assume will stay on its current contract timeline and end on 10/1/2010 - all with a $129 plan the secondary phone will never take advantage of.
Am I missing something here?

Yeah, that is correct. Nothing on your primary line will change, just the secondary line will be extended for 2yrs for utilizing its upgrade. So the $129.99 plan plus the $10 premium data charge for the Evo. If you want to cancel that secondary line, only way is ETF or waiting of course. The way you would most save money though is keeping the secondary line and canceling your primary. OR getting a corp discount/ $20 credit each month for 2 years by resigning contract.

It would seem that i'm gonna end up spending more money trying to get this phone on launch day no matter how I slice it. I just hope that my TP lasts until 7/1, the date account services says they can move up my primary line's 22 month upgrade eligibility (from the original 8/1). I just might have to call them up and tell them that's what i'm gonna end up doing.
Maybe I might get a more sympathetic rep that will give me some sort of discount as you suggested, but it's doubtful. When I called the first time I told her that I may have to cancel my account and go with someone else, but they didn't really offer anything.

I think they will offer you a discount because you're still on the old family plan and they want people to start using the new Everything Plans. I heard they usually offer it to people with old family plans. Just ask them or something.

First time around all they wanted to do was give me a replacement phone (i'm assuming another Touch Pro) and move my eligibility up a month...no discounts or anything. I guess i'll give them another call and see what happens.
This is what I am doing (Sprint said this is possible):
1. Get Evo on second line.
2. Transfer just the phone numbers between the lines (this leaves the Evo on the 2nd line contract).
3. Cancel the first line contract (old phone).
This would leave you with an extra line for maybe a month but then you can change to a single line plan.

I was thinking about something like this.
I am the primary on a family plan. I am not eligible for $75 until Oct. So I was thinking of adding a 4rth line $19.95 and getting the EVO. Transfer my primary # to the 4rth line to use the EVO. After 60 days, cancel the Primary line.
But wouldn't I have to pay an ETF for the primary line then?

The ETF is prorated. If your secondary line or primary line contract is 2 months out, you will not pay more than $50 to cancel.... so having said that... if you call sprint ask them what your etf is, ask them to pay it, and renew your contract on the fourth like everybody else

I wish it was prorated for me. I signed my contract the month before they introduced the pro-rated system. It's $200 for me until the end unfortunately.

Well since it is only $10 to keep it around, you can either re-up and spend $240 over 2 years for it or cancel it after 60 days and spend $200 ETF + $20 for 2 months. So either way it is basically the same. Personally, I'd just keep it around and pay the $240 over 2 years.

It unfortunately won't be an extra $10 a month anymore after I get the Evo, since I won't be able to keep my old Family plan and will be forced to sign up for the $129.99 2-line Everything data plan if I want two phones on my line. If it was only going to be $10 it'd be a no-brainer. No sense for me to spend (at the very least) $240 for the four months i'd be keeping the second phone on the acct (10/1 is end of contract, while 8/1 is upgrade eligibility), especially since the second phone won't be using any of the benefits. It's just a 4 year old Samsung flip...$60/mo for just voice service is a waste.

It`s pretty scarce on detail, I guess it`s with 3 year contract. I figure I would post it for future T-Mo user...
EDIT: it's on a two year Contract.
If anyone gives it a try post your experience!
I used this deal back when I got my T-Mobile Shadow. I plan on doing so again for the Touch Pro 2, probably tomorrow. I'll post about how it goes!
A 3-year contract? People actually sign those? Aren't you (in the end) paying more than double?
That site doesn't even mention contracts... Where did you get the 3 year contract from?
It will require a 2 year contract, T-Mobile doesn't offer 3 year contracts.
Great deal
I already have a family plan that is maxed out (5 lines). Between myself, my wife, my 18 year old colege freshman, my 16 year old (HS junior), and 14 almost 15 yr old (sophmore) we were maxed out.
I ordered with this promotion getting a 2-line family plan (all activation, etc waived) and getting it for $300 + tax, etc for 2 of them shipped. Note that the promotion also includes other phones and the @Home package if you are so inclined. Awesome deal.
Basically, I am spending between $50 and $150 than many people and getting two of these phones for it. I had to get the new data plan. I have the old grandfathered $19.99 plan on my other phones and $10 unlimited family messaging plans... wish I could use the same plan.

So you now have 2 more lines than you used to have? Doesn't that cost about $70 more per month? That is $1680 for 2 years, FAR more than the difference of just buying 2 unsubsidized Touch Pro2s...
Would someone explain how this works, if you are already an existing T-Mobile customer? Do I have to call T-Mobile and cancel, then call this other number and sign back up? I know this deal saves $200, but this seems like a lot of trouble to go through. Plus, how do you keep your current phone number?
The number is T-Mobile Business Direct. They'll be able to handle everything on the phone with you.

My bad, I just assumed it would be the longest contract since it didn't mentioned anything.
I wasn't aware that T-mobile didn't have them, we sure as hell have them in Canada!
Thanks for the correction, good luck to the T-Mo guys, sound like a very descent deal!
T-mobile OEM on the AT&T network?
I'm wondering, if I buy the T-mo version, can I just SIM-unlock it and run it on the AT&T network, or will the radio ROM not work on the AT&T band? Any thoughts? sick of waiting for AT&T, and they're probably gonna fark up the keyboard anyhow.

Yeah 3 year contracts would suck! No U.S. carries have 3 year contracts. I actually select 1 year contract when I upgrade. I pay the same price as 2-year because I have AT&T Premier (you have access to Premier if you have a discount from your place of employment). This way I get to upgrade to the latest HTC phone every year. And every year around this time is horrible waiting for the next one to come out!

Lucky you, I mostly have to get unlocked phone which are expensive, no contract, but lotsa cash =/
Life was easier before 3G. I will mostly get stuck with crappy AT&T keyboard layout as well thought lol.
Called and ordered today, everything went down well
As an existing customer (off contract) my CS rep first offered to set up a new account (with a new phone#) or add an additional line to my existing account in order to take advantage of the deal. I asked if there was any way I could keep my # and get the deal, or if there was another deal somewhere in-between this and $350 the T-Mobile shops are asking.
She took a moment to check with her manager, who approved, and I got the deal with my current phone number, no problem. Also waived activation and added free shipping. Should have the phone by friday!
This is the 3rd or 4th time I've dealt with Business Direct instead of regular CS, and the folks there are amazing. Much <3 to Amy, my rep today

Nice! I played with the T-Mobile TP2 at my local T-Mobile store and I just can't wait to get my own! AT&T's version will supposedly release in October! So long!
I know most people hate the AT&T keyboard layout, but I prefer it.
Argh, perhaps I spoke too soon :/
The CS rep I spoke with had told me I should receive a confirmation e-mail along with a tracking # in my e-mail some time this afternoon, and that if I didn't I should call back to find out what was going on. So sure enough, no e-mail, so I called Business Direct back...
According to the rep I just spoke with, there was an "open order" on my account, but with no phone or contract details whatsoever. He could find no information about the voice/data plans I had set up, nor anything on the phone itself.
I intend to call back tomorrow, in the hopes that Amy (who had mentioned she was having trouble entering the data into the regular system and had to enter the information in manually(?)) has been able to clear this up. My fear is that another CS rep won't be able to give me the same deal Amy was able to work out with her supervisor. Bah!
Just called in and ordered a new line for our family plan and got the 149.99 price. The rep explained that since the TP2 orders have to be done manually it would take an extra day for the order to be completed. Phone should arrive 3-5 days.
Since I am already out of contract I will just cancel my current line once the Tp2 arrives. No Web plan was required to get this deal either. Just unlimited text messages which we already have on the family plan.
That's good to know, Kable. I'll give it some extra time to make its way through the system then

this may be a little of topic but i have question. i just recently purchased a Nexus s 4g for my sister (fifth teens coming up) i have my main line with my ET4G a second one with a EVO and now i want a third one for the nexus . for some reason sprint is making me sign ANOTHER 2 year contract even though im providing the handset myself. iv googled it and it seems like its a hit or miss sort of thing. anybody ever been in this situation? is there a way to get around having to sign a 2 year contract since i am not going to get another handset at a discounted price? any help much appreciated.
if you provide the equipment you do NOT have to sign a 2 yr.
If they try to make you then tell them they are incorrect. The 2 year contract is to gain the discount to purchase the phone.

Not if you're adding a new line. Getting another phone on an existing line wont affect your contract if you pay full price for it, or you already owned it. But if you're adding a line, you have to sign a contract for that new line.

AFAIK, the only carrier in the US (besides the little guys like MetroPCS, maybe,) that allows you to bring a phone and avoid a contract altogether is T-Mobile.

only in California. but everywhere else, yes, you have to sign the 2 year service agreement. but, you still have eligibility from that day forward, so you can get a phone at a discounted rate. think of it like this: when you add a new discount to your account (employer/organization discount), you sign a new contract without affect eligibility. same goes for $50-100 service credits offered to customers who are 2-4 months from contract end but are not interested in a new phone. eligibility and contract terms are actually 2 separate time-lines. the only reason you sign the contract for a new phone is to guarantee sprint you're going to stay with them, in turn subsidizing the heavy discounting they gave you. (i work in a sprint store )
Even if you sign a contract will there be a ETF if you quit? I thought your etf decreases over time as sprint makes their money back from the subsidy. If they don't have to subsidize you're phone what does that mean? Anyone here know the answer?

Etf still applies. That's just part of the terms, sprint wants you to stay with em. It is prorated though. For feature phones, it goes down by $10/month after 5 months til a minimum of $50. Smartphones prorate by $20/month after 5 months until thy reach $100
This message will self-destruct in 30 seconds.
The etf should be only 200 even though it is an advanced device, since you aren't receiving a discount on an advanced device. If you have a discount on your line the etf starts at 200 anyway.
There have been reports of people activating the evo view tablet month to month with a few callbacks to customer care. Just a matter of getting the right person on the phone. In the store I don't think the software allows us to bypass it.

ATT will begin offering wireless customers the option to forgo contracts and get more frequent upgrades if they pay full price for their smartphones, allowing the carrier to cut back on the profit-sapping cost of subsidizing devices like the iPhone.
ATT is beginning a program later this month for subscribers to buy their phones using a monthly financing plan that will add payments to their monthly bills. After a year, they will be allowed to trade in the device for a new one. Under the new option, called AT&T Next, there are no service contracts other than the financing commitment. It is available for tablets as well.
So for a $650/20 months we get almost $35 per month added to your bill. what do you guys think: is it worth it?
BTW unlimited data plans are still allowed on Next.

Hmm. I think I'd go for it.
I don't particularly care to wait two years for a new phone. I get tired of phones after 8 months.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
I've never had to wait 2 years for a phone upgrade; usually, after about 12 months, I have been able to call and ask nicely for an upgrade, so, I would NEVER go for this...ATT gets more than enough of our hard earned cash, why give them more???
So when you first buy a phone...you are paying a subsidized price, and that amount is "hidden" in your monthly fee...now they want you to pay another fee...then get a phone...then pay more on top of that?? Makes no sense to me. I'd rather buy a new phone outright on a no-interest credit card or something..shoot maybe even just save up for it. I've even wheeled and dealed my phones on Craigslist...Is business really that bad that carriers are trying to nickel and dime people for everything? 20 months was fine. Gave you time to make a choice on what you wanted instead of paying an arm and a leg when you get that itch to change. Oh well, to each their own. I definitely won't be taking advantage of this new option.
I guess ATT (and eventually Verizon) feel the need to come up with some new razzle dazzle to make people think they are getting something similar to what t-mobile is offering. You are correct, when you do the math, this new "special" program is nothing more than another way for ATT to take money out of your pocket.
Carriers ALWAYS try and nickle and dime the public out of every possible dollar they can, and most of these new "special" deals, aren't special for anyone except ATT executives, and stock holders...

So for a $650/20 months we get almost $35 per month added to your bill. what do you guys think: is it worth it?

you paid $199 for note 2, one year later you sell the phone for $300 (min). then you spend $350 on another phone. total is 199+350=550
with new plan. one year you pay 650/20*12=390, second year you pay 390. total 780.
you know what you should do.
This is a bit tricky.
Say for the Note 2 you paid 199 + locked into a contract. The price isn't actually subsidized into the cost of your monthly contract, rather the cost is the ASSURANCE that you'll be locked into a contract for 2 years. The amount of your monthly bill can go up/down obviously, and you won't find a line on your bill stating "monthly phone subsidized fee".
My take on this new program is that there will be a line listing the cost of your phone bundled into your monthly fee, without a contract locking you in for 2 years.
Difference is that if you're insane, you can get a different phone 12 months down the line, and split that new cost into your existing monthly bill. This allows you to theoretically have the cost of the new phone added onto the bill in addition to the cost of the old phone.
This isn't much of a deal if you're getting a high end smartphone at 6-700 bucks, but a pretty good deal if it's a lower end or less expensive phone.

This here^^^^^^^
This is what AT&T stated:
The monthly installments will run between $15 and $50, depending on the phone, and are a function of evenly dividing the full retail price of the phone by 20 months.
By way of example, AT&T says, a Samsung Galaxy S4 in Next will cost $32 a month on top of your monthly service plan. You'll be able to trade it in and upgrade after 12 payments, or pay it off in full after 20 months. That's based on the full $639 purchase price of a 16GB model.

Slight correction. Second year you'd be paying 260, not 390. The split is over 20 months remember.

I'm just guessing here, but I think that if you buy another phone right at the first 12 month point, they'll stack that with (on top of) the existing cost of the old phone. So you'll be paying monthly + old phone + new phone, instead of month + new phone.
If they give you a buyout amount to totally pay off the old phone, that might work better.
Another thing that we haven't really considered are the extra fee (if any) revolving around the extended cost of the phone. Is there a service fee for this 'loan'? I mean, that's what it is after all. It's like a mortgage for your phone.

the new plan, my understanding is that when we have a new phone with this plan, we only need to pay for monthly phone payment, after one year, we can choose either keep the phone and pay for the remaining 8 months (after that the phone is yours), or, upgrade to a new phone and pay for the new phone's monthly payment again (20 months term reset).
so basically every 12 months you can upgrade with no cost, by keeping paying 650/20 each months. convenient for lazy people i think.
monthly service bill won't be affected (call+text+data).
yeah, there might be service fee for every upgrade too.

Well when you upgrade your line you have to do one of two things: either you trade in your old phone (I am assuming it should be in good condition otherwise they will charge you for it) or you can keep your phone and pay the balance left to pay it off.
ATT is marketing the deal like its doing us a favor saying they got rid of the $35 upgrade fee, yet they will charge us the same amount each month for the next 20.
I wonder how many will fall for this?

I ask for retention, since they can make decisions no other department can...
the last 2 early upgrades I got were for 2 Gnote2's; one was about 4 months ago, and then the other one was about 1 month ago; I was less than 12 months in on both of these phone contracts when I called.
The first one I got for 299, less 6 months of unlimited texting credit(180 dollars, so the net was 119. They waived the activation fee on that one...
The most recent one,was 199, about a month ago, and they did charge me activation, but I called when the bill came and asked them to waive it, and they did!
The only take away from this is that you need to ask for an early upgrade, and if you are a good customer,(I have 3 lines,) ALWAYS pay your bill on time, and dont ask for all sorts of crazy stuff, there is a very good chance you can get an upgrade after 8-12 months...the "sales" department, usually cant do these kinds of things, thats why you have to get to retention....

Correction: when you get a new phone after 12 months, you trade in old phone buy new phone and start over. The old phone bill is canceled. With Att Next, you no longer own the phone, it's a "lease phone". The tricky part is now rooting and unlocked bootloader will be difficult decisions because the phone must be in good satisfactory condition on all levels

After giving my T-Mobile Note 4 to my brother for his birthday, I tried to see if I could get a deal from Ma Bell themselves. I was successfully. They price matched the T-Mobile variant at $749.46. I did AT&T next at 12 month of $41.30, and received a credit on my bill for $77. Its not the greatest deal, but hey its better than nothing, right? Not too mention I plan on trading the device in after 12 months, so I will only have paid $418.
Just thought I'd share. Give it a shot, you have nothing to loose.

Yep, I've gotten 3 free phones ($600), 4 contracts given an early upgrade by up to 6 months, and probably $1000 in bill discounts by calling them over the last 7 years being polite, nice, and just asking them if they can help with stuff. Not happy with the whole locked bootloader garbage but they've always hooked me up on that end. Just call and tell them what's up and ask them if they think this is possible because you like AT&T and at least want to give them a chance to keep a customer, unless you owe them money or have burned them in the past most of the time they'll do their best to give you what you want. Just be polite, funny, and nice is they key. I called once and talked to a lady from an Atlanta AT&T call center and we ended up talking about how amazing her fried chicken recipe was and how her kids/grand kids loved it and I got a free phone ($200 waved) and 5 months early on my upgrade. It's crazy but it works lol. Good luck

Exactly. I was very polite and thanked him. I mentioned how my bill has never been late and is always paid in full. I was actually quite lucky because they didn't have to do that.
While I'm all down for unlocked bootloaders and root, the truth is, I tinker with my phone too much then. Its gets tiring having to switch roms every week. So I think I'm just gonna do my own thing and call it a day. While I fully support those going to the T-Mobile route, I just found that too much of a hassle. That and very rude T-Mobile staff.
Not only have I had retention credit me to help out a bit. I had them upgrade my wifes line a year early and next day her a new 32gb white s4 before our honey moon last year for free.
I see Sprint has the Edge for $840 as opposed to ATT's whopping $945! Going to call Retentions later and see if they will price match. Thanks for the heads up OP.
Let us know if you were able to get one out of contract for less than full price! I tried 3 times already on phone and chat; retention was ready to let me cancel rather than give me anything to stay. I have always been extremely nice on the phone and usually get deals... but am not getting anything to lower the price of this phone.

Technically this one out of contract as it was on AT&T Next's program. Instead of paying $825.99, they gave it to me for $749.46 (T-Mobile's note 4 price).

Do you all know if you on Next plan and you payed off your phone and you want to get new device you have to trade phone you just payed off. Loose , loose on your end. Better is to buy phone some where else for lower price because on Next plan you will end up paying full price on phone and do not get phone. You only trade in your phone if you want a new phone at 12 months. If you keep it 20 (making payments) the phone is yours to do whatever with. Also with my $25 a line discount it only ends up being $19 a month for my note 4 so I end up paying $380 over 20 months to own it free and clear vs $750 buying it outright.

How did you ends up paying $19 a month ? if you choose 18 months Next plan payment you ends up paying $34.42 x 18 = $619 plus you need to trade your phone. $25 line discount is for access not for a phone. If you agree to 2-years contract you pay $15+$25(discount) =$40. I and my wife (accountant) calculate all options and best way is to get phone on some other side then on Next plan. You will ends up paying full price on phone whatever plan and phone you choose from At&t..

I completely agree with you. Next is AT&T's way of charging you the same but making you feel better OR to get you to change phones all the time and give them the old phone back which they can sell for more. The best way is to get the phone out of contract and pay $15 a month under the "bring your own device" discount. My goal is to get the phone out of contract for less than the crazy $825.99 that AT&T is asking for.
Sample Calculation For All Options:
Note 4 out of contract ($825.99) + 2-yr of service with bring your own device discount ($15 x 24 mo) = $1185.99
Note 4 with Next 12 ($41.30 x 20 mo) + 2-yr of service with Next discount ($15 x 24 mo) = $1185.99
Note 4 with 2-yr contract ($299.99) + 2-yr of service with no discount ($40 x 24 mo) = $1259.99
Sample Calculation for Next 12 to make yourself feel better but not really:
Note 4 with Next 12 and service discount ($16.30 x 20 mo) + 2-yr of service with Next discount ($40 x 24 mo) = $1185.99
Let's also consider that you turn in your phone at 12 months like AT&T wants you to; you end up paying $495.60 out of pocket and end up with nothing. AT&T, on the other hand, has to pay for the rest of the bill for the device, which is $330.39. If they could sell the Note 4 in a year for more than $330.39, which of course they could, then they are making even more money of you. You may wish to argue that under the "make yourself feel better" option, you're only paying $16.30 a month so after one year you pay much less than $495.60; great deal, right? No, you just paid the rest under the service plan. AT&T will gladly take your money.
Not sure where your calculations came from but why are you adding the discount to the bill instead of subtracting. I pay 41.30 for next 12 on my note 4 but with my 25off discount i pay 16 a month for my phone. 16x12=192. After 12 months i would only need to pay 192 and then i can turn my phone in and get a new one with no penalties and if i keepy my phone i end up paying 320. The access discount is only appied when you are on the next plan or buy outright so it needs to be considered in your calculations because if you sign a contract your bill jumps +25. For 2 note 4s on next 12 plus 15gb family share with unlimited calling and text i only pay 180 a month. Just playing with the at&t cart i added 2 smartphones to the cart with 10gb share and on contract and the price is 180. I pay exactly what new customers pay but with the option to upgrade early.

Let me clear your mind. The $25 discount is for your line which they normally charge you $40. With the discount you pay $15 instead of $40. Your $41.30 payment stay the same no change what so ever.
Anybody else taking advantage of the $325 T-Mobile rebate? With new phone deals as rare as they are these days, I jumped on that ****! After 18 years with AT&T (well, it was Pacific Bell then Cingular THEN AT&T), I'm moving to T-Mobile and saving $100 across 5 lines, plus everyone has unlimited voice/text/data, PLUS free Netflix, AND a $325 rebate on the Pixel 2 XL.
I'm going to switch from Verizon to T-Mobile and get this deal. I would not have been able to justify the cost of a Pixel 2 XL 128 GB otherwise.
T-Mobile Promotion: Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL
You mean this one? OMG, that deal is so sweet, makes me so envy on your guys in US...
It really isn't a deal for existing customers. Every new promotion T-MOBILE implements, it ignores existing customers.
so the terms do not say if or how long you have to stay with them. as they have no contracts can you switch a couple months later??? also does their senior discount plan qualify for this promotion?? i am on fi averaging less than $40 a month,on the senior plan it would be $50 by myself but unlimited everything.

This statement is sort of contradicting. If I'm an existing customer with 2 lines on a family plan, why would I want to create a new line? I have to create and pay for a new line, just to get a deal? That doesn't help me in any way. T-MOBILE isn't allowing people to do what they did last year. Some were able to use the promotion with a current line, but if I have to create a new line this isn't a deal.

At the end of the day, the average existing TMobile customer isn't going to take this deal. It holds minimal value. It's only used to sway Verizon customers to T-MOBILE.

true but it is still available and some may take advantage of it depending on their needs etc
I'm considering this deal as well. Looks like it's effectively a $169 rebate. My take on what I've read you have to keep your TMO line for 2 months, the cheapest plan is SC unlimited at $65/mo, plus there is a $25 fee for a SIM card. After 2 months you get a prepaid debit card with $324 on it. So $324 - $65 - $65 - $25 = $169. A hassle, but maybe worth $169.
It's not worth it to me, since I currently pay $40 per month, unlimited everything, with MetroPCS. If I switch to Tmobile, that bill goes up to $70 per month, so after the 10th month, it's no longer a good deal for me.
if you do the math, a new line will cost 40-50$ on a family plan depending on which t-mo family plan you're already on.
Do the math and over time you're paying for the phone all over again just to add a new line

its not contradicting at all. he said it wasn't available to existing customers. I explained it is and this is what you have to do. You not wanting to do it is your prerogative.

He didn't say that at all. He said "It really isn't a deal for existing customers" as in it's not something an existing customer would want to do. Everyone can take advantage of the deal, but it wasn't designed for current customers. Anyways, it likely has the same terms and conditions as when they had the BOGO LG G6 deal... You must add a new line, but you're ineligible if you had cancelled a line X amount of months prior and you cannot cancel a line for X amount of months after. Any other previous deals that they've made for existing customers required that they change their plans to the new T-Mobile ONE plan. Those of us who are grandfathered in pay less for unlimited than those on the ONE plan and they often do deals to try to entice their grandfathered customers to switch to the new plan.
I am doing this deal, I already have a family plan with 5 lines, so adding a new line will only cost $10 a month with kickback credit. After I get the rebate I will cancel the line.
Im on cricket now and I am going to take advantage of this offer. Some "free" money and i get to see the true speed of the phone, signal wise. Has anyone initiated this deal yet or do we need the phone in hand? I believe it only asks for proof of purchase?
I think its only for the one unlimited plan which is 70$ a month.. what if i dont want the sim card..lol company pays for my phone but saving a buck im good with... They only pay for srrvice

If you enable autopay it brings it down to $70, and if you use less than 2 GB, they give you a $10 "kickback" credit. If you are a Costco member they don't charge for sim cards
I am going to add a line to get this deal. I really don't need the new line so once I get the master card I am going to cancel it
If on a family plan, adding a line is only $10-$20 a month. If you have it for 1 month for the gift card to ship, it's not much. Once it shows shipped online, you can cancel. Customer service usually will waive sim card fees as well. Not bad to get $325 back.
