hey guys, i'm going overseas right now, and dont want to be charged international roaming data charges, so i need to disable my automatic email downloads. its easy to do it with my first email account, but for the life of me, i cant remember how to disable it on the widows live account. the first email account i just opened it, when it tools, options, account settings, and it was under there... if anybody knows how to disable the windows live, plz let me know asap, thanks
omar
Possibly the most annoying thing about windows live is when you log into messenger it downloads all your hotmail spam to your phone.
Once its all been downloaded you can turn off email sync in the live settings but you need to delete every email manually I think to recover the memory.
Hey guys. For the past couple of months ive been trying to find a solution to this problem and its been driving me absolutely crazy. I have my email @msn.com and its been there for the past 8 years. It would be EXTREMELY inconvenient to change it to somewhere else. Well anyway, i want to be able to check my email from my phone, and be notified when a new message comes in. So i tried to set it up using the Mobile outlook, but apparently msn email isnt compatible with it(which i find to be one of the stupidest things ever). So then i thought to forward all my msn email to a gmail account or something, but msn only allows you to forward email to another msn or hotmail account. So then i found the Windows Mobile Live program, which i gotta say sucks to all hell, but apparently works with msn email so i thought id give it a try. Turns out though that my internet connection (the tmobile proxy hack which only allows me to use port 8080) doesnt work, and theres no way to change the port for Mobile Live. I was hoping someone out there might have a solution or an idea. Thanks in advance.

thats not a program, but a webpage through pocket IE. The problem with that, besides the fact that it sucks, is that it wont automatically download new messages and give alerts. i was hoping for a program based kind of thing. thanks anyway though

Your webmal provider would have to be setup to allow access via POP or IMAP...I don't know if webmail.<>.ca has that capability or not.
Gmail has that ability, and I believe other major webmail providers (like yahoo) do as well, but you'd have to check with yours to see. Just tell them you want to know how to get your webmail into outlook (don't even need to mention it's for mobile).
On my Incredible, I started a gmail account and now I receive gmail on my phone.
Now I want to use gmail on my desktop PC but I don't remember how I started it on my phone i.e. I can't remember my username, password or the email address I used to start gmail.
How how can I recall these facts to add my gmail account to my desktop?
Thanks

Just go to settings>accounts & sync, you'll be able to see your username under gmail, then you can just go to the gmail site and recover your password.

Thank you for the reply. I did what you said and the user name was my gmail address, and they asked for things I couldn't supply, like, who I sent gmail to, when did I open the account, etc.
Apparently I don't really have an account - just an email address. Does that make sense?

If your phone is receiving email you have a GMail account. If you don't recall what information you put in when you originally started the account there's probably not much more that can be done.
Did you find this phone or something?

VERY FUNNY.
I have always had a lot of respect for this forum, but it is open to everybody and everything.
I started up my Gmail and got rebuffed when I tried to buy an apk and it required me to check-out at the Google store. I was told I didn't have a Google account so I wasn't able to buy the apk, but I am still able to send and receive Gmail. Now I want to be able to receive Gmail on my desktop, but I don't have the information to be able to complete that so that's why I asked for help.
Thanks.

You can send and recieve mail because you have a gmail account. You can't buy anything at the store because you don't have a matching account in Google Checkout which you would have had to set up separately.
Based on the information you're providing - which I'll agree with the others comes off as either sketchy or aternatively completely computer clueless that's my best guess.
I rooted a guy that I work with phone and he didn't know his gmail password. He didn't use gmail, just set up the account to use the market and backup contacts.....bit he also was able to figure out when he opened the account because it was the same day he bought the phone.

Thanks for the comments.
I just got off Google's site and I went through the steps to recover my username and recover my password and even though the recovery site accepts my username and my gmail address, it sends me a message that it's database has no reference to a password for either one.
I tried a site that was supposed to be the tech site to help me and after I asked my question, they asked me how much would I be willing to pay for the answer and suggested 37 dollars.
Well, I guess you know, I went no further.
My problem is, why does google recognize my gmail address, but has no reference to a password I would have to have to start the gmail account? ? ?
I know it's my fault I don't remember what I did to create the account, but why is there no record???
Google can't, or won't let me back in without some things I don't recall, but they seem to have no mechanism to let me correct my situation without just cancelling the account and creating a new one.
Thanks again for the dialog.
Are you serious? I can't believe that post (the one before this one)....its kinda making me very angry on how ridiculous this is lol.

Kinda smells like fresh troll doesn't it?
When I first got the phone I had no problem setting up my Yahoo mail account on this phone but it's been acting up lately as right now it doesn't even let me access my email and keep saying wrong username/password (I already checked them btw). Tried to set up manually but still no luck, turn on Wifi doesn't help so I don't know what the problem is. Does anybody have the same issue and know how to solve?
Thanks in advance.
