does anyone know if you can send the google navigation voice over BT to a BT speaker/car kit?
Yep, works for me - it interrupts any music you may be playing from the phone.
And how do you do it? I have a Nokia Bluetooth carkit which works fine for phone calls but I don't know how I can play music or have the navigation voice speaking through the car speakers?
@thewebface
What make of car kit do you have thewebface? I suspect a lot of the bluetooth features depend on the carkit.
thanks

It's an original Nokia CK-7W.
I've got a Motorola T505 bluetooth carkit / FM transmitter and Desire does work fine with it for both navigation and music. Out of the box configuration, no parameter setup needed.
The feature I liked most was that I could set up individual volume levels for each application running in parallel (i.e. max volume for calls, 2/3 for navigation, 1/3 for music) and then control the general volume from the car stereo.
I've got Bluetooth built in to my car, will this do the same thing?
Didn't even know you could do that! I bought Co-Pilot, is it possible with that too?
Would be great if it was as at the moment Im using Front Aux on the head unit which is cutting out all the music!

Hi all, i'm about to /buyfit a CK3100 but does anyone know if the satnav apps like copilot will route the audio instructions through the stereo ? And if so, does it mute the stereo each time it does?
Unfortunately, it doesn't. The parrot just handles audio related to phone calls. It doesn't work for navigation instructions, music and other sounds. (EDIT: Read your other post.. I've only tried navigation with Google maps so far, so I wouldn't know about any other navigation apps)
Whenever I use my Desire in the car, I hook up a cable between the headphones jack and the car stereo. This results in:
- Music from the Desire plays on the car stereo
- Navigation instructions pause music playback (in car mode)
- Traffic information broadcasts on the radio mute music playback (but do not pause it)
- Phone calls mute and pause music playback
The Parrot still has a lot better audio quality than the HTC car dock, so it has some added value. But I haven't found a way to play music or navigation instructions on the car stereo without usig a cable.

I had the same experience, however have found a workaround. I have added a plugin xCarLink iPod CD changer adaptor with an optional bluetooth module.
This allows me to connect my Desire using it for both handsfree and also A2DP bluetooth music playing. This does then pause my music or podcast if I receive a call.
I also have Copilot - this is flakey as to how it uses the bluetooth module - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Hope this helps...
hmm shame.. I'm guessing then that the only way to get sat nav through is to buy an A2DP enabled bluetooth car kit. Shame as i've got a CK3100 just sitting here which i've had for a while but never installed. The problem is if i buy another car kit, plus a charger/holder, its going to cost a small fortune.
Thanks for the info.
I've looked in the phone but haven't found out if it's possible. I have a Bluetooth head unit in my car (Pioneer AVH-P8400BH) and am wondering if it's possible to have apps (specifically Navigation) have the audio output through the phone instead of the HU. I use an ipod for music and as such as soon as I'm in the car I can't hear the nav prompts unless I have the HU set to bluetooth audio.
I am sure this is not specific to the SGS3, but I swear this used to work with my S2.
My 2006 VW doesn't have an AUX input so I use one of the FM Transcievers. It works well.
But...I also use a bluetooth headset while driving.
What I want to happen is to be able to answer calls with my bluetooth headset. Right now while the FM thing is plugged into the headphone jack, the callers voice is sent over the headphone jack and on the stereo. It is as if my bluetooth headset is disabled while the headphone jack is used.
Is there any way to use the headphones to listen to music, but use the bluetooth headset for calls?
BTW, I am using PowerAmp.
Have you tried changing the order in which you connect the 2 devices. Try making sure you connect the transmitter before connecting the bluetooth headset. You may also need to edit the properties of the bluetooth headset and disable a2dp to prevent music from going to the headset. If all else fails, there should be a button during a call that you can use to switch between bluetooth, speakerphone, handset. Not ideal while driving, though.
One thing Android needs is a proper mixer control panel...

Actually the Headset button is lit up on the in call screen, as if the bluetooth headset is connected for the call. Unfortunately it is still routing through the headset/handset mic.
The subject says it all. Can I route audio through Bluetooth A2DP and the phone's speaker simultaneously? I want to keep my phone connected to my car's audio system via Bluetooth voice and A2DP. But sometimes I want to switch to XM Radio or other sources. When I do that of course, I lose audio prompts from Google Navigation.
Is this possible?

I'm looking for the same thing. I can get audio through Bluetooth and have notifications go to speaker at the same time, but I can't get other media to go to speaker at the same time.
I would also be satisfied with a widget that lets me toggle the A2DP status of the Bluetooth connection on and off. It would not be the end of the world if I needed to toggle the A2DP off when I switch to another radio source and toggle back on when I go back to Bluetooth as the source in the car.

A2DP + phone speaker simultaneously

If you ask me I'd say it's possible.Whenever my phone is connected to my stereo through A2DP, the music is played through loudspeakers only by default. However, when there's an incoming call and my ringtone is being played I can hear it through loudspeakers AND the phone speaker, which creates a pretty cool surround effect. I'd really love to make my music player interact with all the speakers like this all the time. I took my chance installing various apps like SoundAbout to help me figure it out, all to no avail. Any ideas?
is there a way to listen to navigation audio through the handset speaker when you're connected to the car BT?
or, am I forced to switch the car audio system over to the phone (killing my sat radio connection) to hear the nav audio from the phone?
anyone?

No. Most nav systems should automatically interrupt any audio that is being streamed through the car speakers. It may not necessarily pause your sat radio but you may here any nav voice directions over your radio broadcast. As far as your phone is concerned...well their is no way possible to play the navs audio through the handset speaker. Not sure why any nav system would allow you to do such a thing as it is unnecessary.

just to be clear, I was talking about the Google Maps Nav on the phone itself - hearing the audio from that. Not trying to hear audio from a car nav system on the phone.
When the phone is connected via BT to the car for phone calls and such, I just wanted to be able to hear the Google Maps Nav audio out of the phone handset speaker while the phone was still connected to the car via BT.

Oh my bad...I thought it was your car's sat nav you were talking about. I am still a little confused as to what your issue is but from my understanding your sat radio (from your car I would assume) is being killed whenever Google Maps Nav directions are given? If that's the case well there is no way to play audio both from your phone speaker and car speakers simultaneously via bluetooth. Once connected via bluetooth ALL audio including text notifications, ringtones etc. will be played through the car speakers. It's kind of like plugging in a pair of headphones to your phone, audio will only be played through the headphones and not the handset speaker.
