As title. Searched but can't find a sensible solution for this. Pattern lock gives a bit of security against casual intrusion, but it's a pain having to undo the HTC lock first. Any way of disabling the HTC lock?
doesn't 'No Lock' from the market do this?
How about stopping the green line from showing up? Too many people are figuring out my code .

Tilt the screen in daylight - smudgy fingerprints give you away!
Still no answer to my original question.
Yea I thought this too. So I got rid of pattern lock and just use slide until I can get rid of slide.
You could try out "Lockpicker" it can disable the HTC Password Screen and let you keep the pattern lock.
I'm guessing that you have the HTC Password screen due to Exchange Security Policy ?
No I think they mean just unlocking the phone normally. Nothing to do with Exchange.
I am also keen to figure this one out. Also 'No Lock' lets you wake the screen and unlock by presssing any physical button on the phone. I would like to be able to press any button to wake the screen and then use pattern unlock. Simple really, but seems so hard to get working?!?
Is there any way of getting the password lock to apply after a set time rather than every time I want to wake the phone? I don't want to have to unlock if I've put it down for a few minutes but would appreciate some password security if has been unused for a user definable period of time.

Use Locale. I set mine to only have the lock screen when not at home.
i believe the reason that the "HTC Lock" is enforced is because you could easily lock yourself out of the phone if your phone turns on in your pocket.
imagine: you have no HTC lock, and your phone turns on in your pocket. walking around, the screen gets pressed either because you have your hand in your pocket, or other reasons, and the phone then registers 20 incorrect attempts at unlocking the phone. BOOM! you're locked out. the htc lock thing largely prevents this from happening.
i know it's annoying, but there is a reason it's there i think. and remember, if it wasn't the HTC lock, it'd be the android lock. it's not just htc that's doing this.

I have the Exchange setup and I was forced to setup a password to unlock the phone (plus Lockpick to remove it) - unfortunately I cannot change password or unlock to a pattern - simply I can't see it in the security menu...
I have figure out the solution.
After setting up you lock pattern. Go to Security -> Lock phone after and set it to
Immediately
This will actually lock your phone which require unlock pattern to unlock it.

Hi! On the GS3 in Ice Cream Sandwich, the power button could either 1) lock the phone or 2) simply turn the screen off without locking, seen in the "Lock instantly with power key" toggle:

In 4.1.1/Jelly Bean, though, Samsung or AT&T removed that toggle, forcing users to use 1) lock the phone; the entire option is now missing:
Do any smali gurus or ROM modders or anybody else know how to get this toggle back?

Nope. I have mine with 3 mins inactivity. And using power button or after 30 second screen timeout it doesn't lock immediately. If it turn it on within the 3 minute time period, it does not show lock screen.
Try using a different launcher.

Huh. OK, thanks for the info.
Launchers can affect lockscreens? I'm on Nova and I tried the TW launcher: no dice on either.
Could it, though, be your ROM? I'm on stock. The Intergalactic v2.8 release notes lists "Many other tweaks..." at the end, which might include this functionality.

It's a known issue with the AT&T JB ROM. I've used Verizon and Sprint ROMs ported over to AT&T and the option is there and works fine. Seems like only by using a 3rd party app can you get this functionality back, unless someone had a mod that can be flashed.
Hi guys,
Does anyone know how to get a third party lock screen like go locker to work to replace the stock lock screen? I can get it to work but it runs on top of the stock lock screen, which means I have to unlock twice ?
Any help would be great. I'm not rooted.

There seems to be no way to disable it

You can set automatic lock time to a high value (maybe higher with an additional app) and disable lock at button click.
A look screen which worked for me is mentioned in my guide at the bottom ('make fireos looks and feel like...')
Happy Christmas!
I tried slidelock, but the original lockscreen won't stay away, even after trying all the options... I only want a different lockscreen or app for my notifications really as they don't stay on the lockscreen :\
I really hate Lock screen :crying:
Use es explorer to rename *lockscreen apks in ./system/apps to .apk.exe.
Or you can just delete them.
The only one you shouldnt change is the lockscreen.apk, if you do then the home button and voice control stop working.
you have to be rooted though.
Hope this helps.
Next lock screen works and seems to over ride Amazon lock screen without having to disable it.

Well I can't answer that sadly. But you've proved one of my points earlier which was that next doesn't display properly on fire phone. Your first shot shows the top row of pixels on the icons at the bottom of the screen. It should and does show two full rows of icons on all other compatible phones.
I've just tried the app called start from play store. It has under advanced settings an option to make it default home and then let's you choose your launcher. I've also frozen lock screen apk, and now everything works ok. The start button issues I had when just freezing lock screen are resolved.

I wouldn't say Next doesn’t display properly on the Fire phone, as others aren't having the same issue. It may have to do with how you have your settings configured, but Next works perfectly for me. I have no idea why you see icons at the bottom. I'm using Nova for my launcher with no problems. In phone settings, I have lock method as none and set to lock immediately on screen off and I only see Next since there is no lock method set for system settings.

Actually, I would say next doesn't display properly on fire phone. Poster #14 above proves my point. See the first screenshot? With only a couple of pixels visible of the icons at the bottom of the screen? Well, that's a display bug whether you like it or not. It's supposed to show a row of full icons at the bottom. I guess If you've never tried next on another phone you might not understand.

I've disabled Screen Lock both in NLS and System settings
Hello, guys.
Knock code is not working on my G4...
I need to turn on the screen to use the code...
I have to make some configuration?
Thx.
This happens to me sometimes to, it works with the screen off sometimes, but most of the time I have to turn the screen on. Usually use double-tap to wake when that happens. Probably going to get better functionality with an update hopefully.
Happen to me too... Never had this problem on G3

Not the double tap to wake. The option where you tap a code into the screen instead of using a standard lock screen code or pattern unlock.
Same here, too many misses of the Knock code (compare to the G3). I really hope that it's just software issue and not hardware (digitizer).
It's hit or miss with mine (no pun intended). When the screen is on, there is a square, blue outline of a box in the lower half of the screen. I assume at that point you're supposed to tap within the box, rather than using the entire screen?

I was having this same problem and even factory defaulting the device did not help.
I later found out that I was accessing it the wrong way and all is well now.
Go to Settings > Display > Lock Screen > Select Screen Lock and you should be able to choose them properly.
However, I was accessing it through:
Settings > General > Security > Screen pin and over here the options for knock code is grayed out.
I hope this helped~!
I've been having the same issue with the knock code only working 70% of the time when the screen is off. I didn't own the G3 so I have no idea if this is worse performance than it. It's very frustrating. This and the slow charging issues the G4 has are really disappointing.

FYI, T-Mobile pushed out an update this week. Among the changes (actually, the only change I've noticed so far) is the knock to unlock has improved. That seems to suggest a software fix can help.

I'm confused also. That just looks like the aod. What's the problem here?
You mean that you have AOD off, and when you touch the screen you want to go directly to homescreen instead of the AOD, right?
The behavior on mine is exactly this one, I would like to have the AOD instead...

the bug is from nov, or maybe from beginning.
Is this about the phone screen constantly waking up whenever you touch the phone, regardless of whether you have disabled things like Always On Display and all the gestures like "Lift to wake phone"? If so, there's a fix you can use through ADB. I found this solution on reddit, and it's worked perfectly for me. No downsides.
Code:
adb shell settings put secure doze_quick_pickup_gesture 0
Found the solution from this reddit thread:

Yes, thanks, I did this, and when lift to check is set OFF, I have the ambient display when I lift up the phone, and this is OK for me. But if I enable Tap to check, the phone goes to homescreen, if I disable it the screen remains dark.
The usual things (integrated solutions or the many ideas I found online) do not work. I don't want to permanently disable it but I am absolutely annoyed to constantly have to unlock it while i'm just at home.
I want Automate to have it off while home and on while outside. Such a simple task and yet so complicated :-(
(Smart-Lock doesn't work at all for me. Never had on any phone.)
Maybe someone has found a solution?
Set lock_screen_lock_after_timeout to any longer value. I have created a task that runs after every boot which sets this value. You phone will never be locked. Make sure you uncheck Settings -> Security -> Screen lock -> Power button instantly lock.

Ah thank you, another option that will work. Thanks for sharing!
If you don't want to go down the tasker route,
Macrodroid with _Screen unlock at Home does the job.
Just change the SSID in the template. (Parts 1 and 2 needed)
What about on first boot? Don't you need to enter a password then? I want to bypass the password always, even after a reboot. Is there no way to have Tasker auto-login when the lock-screen is shown?
NOTE: I do have lockscreen set to Swipe, but that causes multiple issues which is what I am trying to fix... 1) No VPN without a lock, 2) No GPay without a lock, 3) Can't view Chrome saved passwords without creating a lock. Therefore disabling the lock at home is not a solution for me. I want it always disabled (swipe to unlock), but I want 1, 2, & 3 to work anyway.
PS: Here is how to do the timeout thing without Tasker... I will try that out for now, as it should solve everything except reboot (maybe I can live with that).
Code:
adb shell settings put secure lock_after_timeout_rollback 86400000
adb shell settings put secure lock_screen_lock_after_timeout 86400000
86400000 = 24 hours in miliseconds. You can change to a number that you find suitable.
This secure settings will survive after reboot so you only need to do once.

probably using this you can use your locations to enable or disable....
lockscreen.disabled=0
Click to collapse
Sadly this was amongst the things I've already tried, but alas: Nope. Simply does nothing (for me).
Click to collapse
Shouldn't it be
lockscreen.disabled=1
0 = false -lockscreen.disabled=0 =false =lockscreen.disabled=NO
1 = true -lockscreen.disabled=1 =true =lockscreen.disabled=YES
