hi
i want to get as many ppl on this band wagon.... DOnt buy any new ppcs.. lets wait it out and try to get companys like o2,vodafone,qtek and imate to give us 2005 upgrades...
i figure if we dont buy..they might just give in...
BTW: applause to HP and dell for the upgrades
Hello!
Do we know that they are NOT gonna offer this upgrade to us?
Björn
well not sure about s and i
but somebody did get some reply to a mail that 1.72 was the last
rom for xdaII from o2 or something
actually no confirmation yet.. but judging from the support or lack of it more to the point from imate etc.. i can safely assume they will not..
plus the best defence is a good offence..
Hello!
Why is everybody complaining about the support? What has happend?
Björn
I'm having trouble understanding how 2005 can realistically work properly on an XDA2...
isn't it a bit like putting XP on a PentiumII 333?
Ant
well newer pda's with 2005 is not that more powerfull then xda2's
cpu speed or memory have not really skyrocket'd that much
newer devices just come with wifi really and maybe 500Mhz cpu's insted of 400
and VGA
RE
I would be happy if O2 gives my O2 XDA II the WM2003SE upgrade... with a small fee though.
What makes you think they would provide the WM2005 upgrade?
I think O2 is trying to monopolize the market.
@zohaer21: i can agree on your frustration cause the product is not made compatible with other types then the xdaII, coincidentally the type being used the most probably and being modified to the rightful end-owners wishes use, likely against the wishes of the developers.
WM2k5 is launched but forgot to mention that at this moment it's only available for a certain type of mobile phone. Which type of wm2k5 is being discussed and described on all the sites? Neato.
Applause to HP & Dell indeed. Their prices are the same as XDA types yet their upgrades on software... ohlala, what a difference.
@WaspWorld: reading many informational sites on Mobile phones, it's more like one local/geographical user will have luck and another can bite the dust, which is wrong yes. Try finding a general QTek support site, you'll end up biting the dust paying more where you bought it.
@ Anton: from what I've been reading here, wm2k5 runs smooth on an xdaII. Isn't more like it's built with more extras, so the end-user would be obliged to buy a new phone because the current phone doesn't support it? Remember the fact that it's (new) software with new 'features'.
I could get XP running on a PentiumI 200MMX, sluggish system but it ran ok, bugged out the non-necessities and it ran better.
@Rudegar: true, so it's not that the xdaII isn't up for wm2k5.
by not upgrading ?
they dont make their money selling the devices
since the device cost alot more if you dont get it
with a cellphoen subscription
so they are spending money when people buy their phones
of cause they plan on making even more on the subscription
the reason i think they would not offer the upgrade is because of
the support cost it would bring yet another platform for their tech's to
advice people about how to get working and how to get working like their old nokia worked and ....
and about monopolize then i guess that depend on where you are
because they are not present here at all
@Rudegar: so true. That's why large OEM companies like HP & Dell have such a large support staff. For the rest of them like most of use are subject to, it's tougher to provide excellent support. I guess that's one of the major reasons for the existence of this forum.
I think they will never offer an uograde to make us looking always for the missing things as I am sure they will never offer us the device of our dreams. there will be always something missing to look forward to buy it when they offer it in a new device lacking some other things,... and so on
Does the wifi work?
Do you like the mouse button?
Does it take 2 GB mini SD cards?
How many hours can you use TomTom on one battery load? (wifi, Bluetooth, GSM, FM Radio, enabled)
(That's 5 receivers!)
T-mobile germany has a P3300 (T-Mobile MDA compact III) on the website.
A dutch guy maggoo has a preproduction? T-Mobile compact III, only he is on Holiday now...
His wifi is not working BTW...
Offcourse BengalBoy (King of gadgets) has a preproduction? P3300 since august 2006.
Apparently, Bengalboy has posted his on ebay

Nice Phone and a ugly Woman
LOL,
i wish i would own such a sweet device for changing it with my Trion or Wizard. The only thing i really appreciate is the FM receiver. Everything else i wouldnt exchange with my Trion. Due the fact that this device is not that perfomant like other PDAs
But why not having a small device in the pocket? Fits perfectly to my suit
I was thinking about the GPS.... Does the GPS work fine?? I really2 like the size
That ebay auction looks fishy to me. No recent feedback, bank transfer, no warranties etc etc....
guess it has not been release yet still, same here for my country singapore, anticipating it release along with the p3600
Hi!
I did actually test the device last Saturday. It was displayed at the Microsoft stand on a Norwegian multimedia exhibit. The device performed very well and the GPS and FM tuner worked perfectly. The head of Microsoft Windows Mobile in Norway confirmed that the mass production started October 13th, and that the device would be shipped to Europe after 15 days (October 28th).

Blackberry on Artemis?
Does anyone know if it will support Blackberry connections?
The Artemis Proto is available for purchase. The ebay auction was mine and not fishy.
As for the "ugly woman", I suggest getting your eyes checked immediately, or, should you be at CES in Vegas this January, come introduce yourself to me and say it to my face. Hehe... but we all know you never would..
BegalBoy - don't know if anyone else has greeted you, but it's great to have you on the forum! You're a legend! Keep up the exceptional work.

Thank you Vijay555 for the welcome. I visit XDA-Devs all the time. This is the "Site" for operating system development and individual work for improving the performance of the devices we all love. It has been the only place since I got my first XDAII (imate Pocket PC) back in the day to offer assistance and improvement on issues with the operating systems long before solutions are provided by the manufacter. I always have respected the "code warriors" here and the fact that you rarely see any juvenile posts,,, only tech and device related. But I couldn't resist when I saw that unusual comment about one of my girls.
Thanks to all of you for assisting the community, if I can ever be of any help providing ROMs on unreleased devices don't hesitate to ask.

It would be nice if you could dump the roms on your unreleased devices and post them here, if you need technical assistance just ask
just out of curiosity, where do u get the devices so early?? I saw that no one bid for them on ebay... but what you have to do if you want to sell them is send the ebay auction link to people at imei-check, they usually buy preproduction devices at any price to have the unlockers ready when the devices are released.
was really tempted to bid n buy the item coz its not available in singapore yet, really a neat device after seeing the video introduction on Youtube by none other than bengalboy himself, the p3600 n p3300 are really devices worth waiting for, would choose either one to replace my exisiting O2 mini aka magician which have been serving me well still...
any idea regarding the price over in your country yet?
Zomg it's BengalBoy
hey there bro nice to see you here, yeah this is probably the best gadget forum in regards to wm phones, hope to see ya around more often you could contribute greatly to the community,
p.s. nice site you have
Be happy to dump the ROM for you guys, got some instructions??? Its prototype, but, maybe you guys can help me.... I have this proto rom as well as a new ROM with Tom Tom on board.. Which do you want? Would be nice if someone could help me CID unlock my device to install the new ROM on.. Also have the Trinity if you want that ROM as well...
pardon my newbie-ness but just whats the purpose of dumping the ROM here?
BegalBoy, this is a good description of how to dump roms the "hard way", so to speak. There are other easier tools, but they've given mixed result on the Treo, so this method is generally sound.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HowtoDumpRom&action=BackLinks
lmf_slacker: we enjoy taking roms apart to see what's been changed, updated, perhaps incorporate new features that haven't migrated into our roms yet. Not all operators are diligent in updating "obsolete" devices, but we like to keep them alive!
V
i can see from the link http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...on=Back Links that u can change the language of the device if u change the ROM, is that all u change?
I know this isn't a real Hermes topic but this is where I see vp3G more than anywhere else on the board. I just picked up a Kaiser, and it is bloated and needs to be cleaned up. The reason I came to this board is that I was a happy owner of a Wizard then a Hermes and I want to share my excitement with other owners of the previous phones. If you liked either the Wizard or Hermes you will love the Kaiser (my biggest thing is built in GPS!!!). So now that the phone is in the consumer channels I would like to see more ROMS from people I trust and vp3G roms have always been the best (in my humble opinion), so what I am suggesting here is those of us that get this new phone if we donate enough to vp3G (or your favorite ROM chef) so he can pick up a phone at no cost to him, he will be working his magic on the Kaiser. Is anyone else up for the idea???
honestly i would have absolutely no problem donating to a chef like vp3g (i mention him bcuz I am stuck on his ROMs). Unfortunately I'm in college and dont work so income is spotty at best. I was actually just thinking that when I do have a little to spare im definitely going to be making a donation to him anyways. now if the chefs were to take the money from donations and purchase a tilt (or kaiser or whatever u prefer to call it) so they could begin working on something for that that would be great. so...ive said all that to say i planned on donating anyways because i enjoy the great work.
As more and more Chef end their awesome work on the Hermes because they´ll buy a new device like MaHaRoX and Schap or brick their Hermes like PaY87 or Abusalza (PDA Corner), time for Hermes seems to come to an end after almost three years on the market.
Which device will be your next?
I think Touch Diamond Pro (Raphael)
Even jasjamming will cook again for that device. Check the new Raphael thread and you will see how many chefs are going there..
That was my first idea also - the Raphael.
What about the SE X1? It´s also produced by HTC, I guess.
i going to Raphael too...
my first thought: iphone 3 g or raphael
after second thought : raphael
Hi,
i hope htc have at next year 5 megapixel camera and real flash.
This 5 MP (more is better) Device is my Favorit.
The best mobile camera and real flash is in Samsung SGH-i8510.
Also not bad would be a GPU.
wfg
starbase64
i will stick on the hermes threads for unknown period. still waiting to get new 2nd hand hermes. i hope my old hermes came back on good condition (if possible) from repair centre. i 'll sell it to buy new device (hope with one i can handle 4 flavour of my rom).
i will keep my new hermes coz to many people have contribution for give me one. thanksssssss for all donators and hermes community
Im quite tempted To get a Raphael, blow my student loan on it, though I only just got my Hermes.
The problem is, that I normally get the phones when the great guys here at XDA have sorted out all the annoying problems (first Blue angel now Hermes)
Ill have to see what the early reviews ect say, and how many problems pop up.
I was thinking about getting a Kaiser, but its just the same phone with more ram, and iffy vid drivers ;/
"blow my student load on it"
hey keep it civil!
I am hoping to get a Kaiser within the next 2-4 months. Love my Hermes to death, but I would love to have built in GPS and a bit more available memory. Since I have T-Mobile US, I'm trying not to get anything too extravagant since they're slower than a snail to roll out 3G.
I'm going to stick with Hermes until Touch Diamond Pro comes to at&t in USA...looks like I'll see the rest of you guys in 2010.
Don´t worry! The Raphael is even not out in Germany until now.

Woopss! I blame Firefox spell checker and proofreading! sorry! all fixed now
I have been drooling over the Touch Pro all day, maybe if I can get it for £400
It will be my first "new" HTC phone!
Omnia
I'm thinking that the Samsung i900 (Omnia) will be my next device after the Hermes. Still WinMo, so I'm sure ROM updates will continue in my future, but it looks like it has everything that I want. We shall see -- I do love HTC devices...
maybe one of these.
touch pro, XPeria and omnia.
hmm
For me will be a kaiser, known issues already been 'fixed' by the doctors here, and plenty support. after that I will get a raphael, after it has been in distribution for two or so years.
same choose. in the end of year, or maybee later will jump to kaiser. when all troubles whith raphael gone, and his price become more polite. I realy love the backslide qwerty, only thing I miss is a little more bigger display.
Can anyone tell me, is a kaiser much faster than a Hermes, with the new drivers ect?
I just watched a vid of the touch pro, quite speedy, even with HTC's default rom.
Anyone got any pics of a kaiser running a new rom in action or anything? GPS would be nice, but I dunno if its much of an overall upgrade.
raphael???
hmm that's a dream for me now
but if i able to cook rom for this one, it will give me more experience
I buy, fix, and resell a lot of HTC smartphones. This is a list of HTC smartphones that share a battery with other phones. Any help would be appreciated.
Sometimes you can't find a battery for the phone you have, so you need a substitute. Here is a list of substitutes I know of:
THINGS THAT DO:
- Diamond Extended Battery and Raphael Standard Battery (I imagine the diamond battery would work in the Raphael, just poorly)
- Trinity and Titan
- Hermes and Apache
- Magician and Charmer and Magician Refresh and Prophet and HP IPAQ hw6510 (Beetle)
- Alpine and Himalaya {Thanks To Mobile of Sorrow}
- Willow or Snap and Rhodium and Supersonic {Thanks to qben88}
- Tattoo and Mega {Thanks to yayyap159} and Topaz
- Whitestone and Desire and Hero 200
NOTE: The Desire's standard battery cover is a bit too small for the Hero 200 and Whitestone battery. (Both lines from tbaker077. Thanks!)
- Opal and Pharos
- Wizard and Gene {Sorry about the late response ravichandrabr}
- Wings and Libra
- Artemis and Polaris and Love
- Blue Angel and Harrier
- Hero 100 and Dopod T5399 (Twin 10000) can't tell you if the twin was even made, but they have the same battery
THINGS THAT SHOULD, BUT DON'T:
- Touch Dual (Nikki) and Touch Dual (Neon) {Strange.......}
- Hero 100 and Sprint Hero 200 (could be wrong)
THINGS THAT MIGHT:
- Wizard and Polaris and Love and Artemis and Dell Axim V50 (Don't know it's codename, but I know HTC made this)
- HD2 (leo) ad Nexus One (They have the same capacity extended battery and the batteries look very close in the pictures I have seen. Need to do more research)
Any help would be appreciated and accredited with proof. Please no spamming. I am trying to provide a service because I am no good a programing and feel I should give back to the community.
alright,dood!
Himalaya (XdaII,MdaII etc.)
and the Alpine (XdaIIi )uses both the same Batteries !
Thanks, I'll make the change
the touch pro2 and the Dash 3G also share the same batteries. i swap them around all the time. the mt3g and the hero different batteries
I'll make the change and remove the line about the mytouch 3g
HTC Touch Dual (Niki) does not interchange batteries with the HTC Touch Dual Neon
My HTC Mega (Touch2) uses the same battery as my friend's Tattoo......
I'll clarify what I meant by things that should and will make the change about the tatoo

From what I have seen on-line, the opal and pharos might share a battery. But without feedback from somebody or Internet research , I'm not sure.
HTC Imagio and HTC Hero on Sprint both use the same battery. The HTC Eris also use the the same battery as those two, but the stock battery cover doesn't close all the way as the standard battery is smaller than the 1500mah the other two use.
I'll make the edit about the Hero, Droid Eris and CDMA Hero

Apparently I am reading that the TP2, also shares the same battery as the Hero(Sprint), Imagio, Snap, and Eris.

I'll look into that. If that is true, HTC is very lazy. Almost every new phone might take the same battery, but on the same hand this laziness bight be genius.
I can confirm the TP2/Snap battery interchangeability. Yesterday my battery died completely... wouldn't take a charge anymore, and for the past 24 hours I've been in a search frenzy. And nobody and I mean nobody... Tmobile, ATT, Sprint or Verizon. They all carry the TP2 but no batteries... Until I ventured in a Tmobile store to try and swindle something due to being a corp customer with authorized user access to the 800+ user account and under warranty on the phone. No love until they tell me they have the Snap (Dash 3G) batteries only. I look at the damn thing... same size! I take it out of the box, fits like a glove! The sales girl looks at me in astonishment
Bought the battery and walked out happy.
So, if you need, go to Tmobile and ask for Dash 3G batteries. Don't say Snap... they won't know what you're talking about.
The thing i am curios about is does the snap and the willow share a battery. They are very close or are they going to do something stupid like with the 2 touch duals.
HD2
Hi all , first post lol ! Does the HD2 share batteries with any other models ? Thanks in advance for any help !
Anyone know of the Vogue and Elf share batteries?
