Anyone had any luck with the built in Bluetooth FTP feature and Windows 7?
Pairing the device then going to the newly created bluetooth folder in "Computer" just gives a connection error, device doesn't even prompt me to try and allow.
I don't want to use third party stuff.
Ideas?
Thanks.
Nevermind, A reboot of Windows and the Desire got it working, although I couldn't copy over the default music folder that came on the built in memory card because some reason the FTP connection found all mp3s as extension-less and so couldn't copy or manipulate them.
On the same note, linux of course had no problem with Bluetooth FTP and could copy and move files easily from within Ubuntu 10.04.
I would image it would be the same for Mac users too, just Windows gets a hard time, and it clearly isn't the phone to blame.

I can't copy files from PPC to PC through activesync. When I tried to copy, the conversion window of copying files popped up and it seems like its doing its job (converting and copying) and finished with no error. But when I go to the directory in my PC where the file copied to, there is nothing inside the directory. I've upgraded the activesync to version 4.1 (Build 4841) and still no luck. I tried from bluetooth and craddle connection and same result. However, I can successfully copy any file from my PC to PPC.
Does anyone had the same problem?
That's unusual.
I haven't had that problem myself, and it would be maddening if I did.
Tell me:
- Can you copy the other way around (PC to WM)?
- Is it every file, or certain types only?
- Can you try installing AS on another PC and trying the same process?
Same problem here, but with a S110. Various pc's and different version of AS tested. Some time ago it did work, but something triggered it to go wrong. Learning to live with it and copying stuff via sd-card.
Anyone a clue?

PC to WM5 works fine and it always successfully transfer the file for every type. The problem is only one way (WM to PC) through activesync.
I haven't tried to install AS on different PC yet. Will report after trial

In my case to upload file from WM to PC i use WiFi and connect through ftp to transfer data (Although it's inconvenient but it does the same job)
Thanks for the replies[/quote]
Hi, i have searched the forum for an answer but i had no luck, plenty of threads on how to map a drive of a PC onto your Universal but not the other way round, i have a folder on my SD card that has all my simple system tools for PC in it and i would like to be able to go to a WiFi network and be able to access the folder from any PC regardless of activesync.
I hope i didn't make my request too confusing but im sure you will know what i mean because it would be very usful
Thank you so much for your time on replying in advance
The best software for you is WM5torage.
By Ingvarr:This program will export the flash memory card as usual USB Mass Storage device (ordinary "usb disk") - effectively turning smartphone into flash reader. It works with many (not all) Smartphones and PDAs on the market that use WM5 as OS.
Latest version is v1.53 - it's free , fully working Mass Storage Software working with WM5.0 :
You can find previous version here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45411 or new after some changes here:
Thats Brilliant, thank you so much for your reply, but i don't think i didn't explane it right, i already have a program for doing the USB mass storge, its called 'Card Export 2', its brilliant and so fast, but thats not what im looking for because you still have to physicly plug your phone in to a PC, i want to be able to 'SHARE' a folder on my phone, i.e Mydevice\my document\STUFF, just like you do on a PC, and then be able to run/edit/copy/paste stuff in that folder from another PC using WiFi, so in other when i go into work and connect my phone to the network using WiFi i want to be able to go to any desktop and access my files on my phone without wires, i.e in explorer type-
\\myphone\stuff
('myphone' being the name of my device & 'stuff' being the shared folder on my phone)
have i made it any clearer?
please let me know if im not making myself clear
hi jab1a,
in the past i was also dreamin about a solution you have described. in the meantime i have learned by other posts that this is not possible as providing drives or folders as a network ressource is not implemented in windows mobile. so no way of getting an easy solution for that. but in other cases wm5torage works very well for me until somebody has worked out a way for wireless sharing of folders.
best regards
peter
Hi,
I use a piece of software called V m Network Browser. lets you copy and paste files and play files over the wifi network.
Great app
its shareware but small price for a good piece of software.
hope this helps
hi nightspider,
thanks for your input. just one question left: is this software running on your desktop/server pc and it allows to play around with files on your mobile device or do you run the software on your mobile device and play around with files on your desktop/server pc?
greetings
peter
It was small misunderstanding from me  . So maybe ( not tested on WiFi) idea of the ftp server on PDA :?: ?
You cand find ShareIt FTP( no shure if working on WM5.0 :?: ) http://www.noisette-software.com/products/pocketpc/ShareIt/
Hi peter_altherr
Yes it runs on the Pocket pc nothing needed on the desktop pc apart from the shared folders
When I connect my phone to my laptop and try to copy a file to Gnex it says moving but never moves the file over..When this happens i click cancel and unplug my phone. When I open up my file manager all my internal storage is gone. All that is there are the Android, DCIM and ect folders with a modified date of just then and are empty
THis has happned 3 times already. The last time when I plugged the phone back to the PC the files came back but then went away.
What is going on? Is there a way to format the internal storage incase there is a issue somewhere before I start over again. I am tired of losing all my pictures, wallpapers and backed up rom mods and ect. I dont set them to autobackup to the cloud cause the battery needs all the life it can get LOL.
Running AOKP lastest and Franco kernel
Laptop: Vista 32bit
I find MTP very buggy, even with win7.
Do you have wireless access? If yes I suggest you try airdroid (gives you full access on a pc on the same wireless network) or one of the other wireless connect apps, or set up a wireless ftp server over ssh if you're a command line person.
airdroid was the first one I tried, it works well for me (ubuntu 10.04 and 11.10, vista 32, win7 64) so I've not looked further.
Just tried it...Not bad...only down side is copying stuff from the phone to PC you have to export zip files. And its slow over wifi. I'll have to keep exploring
Windows Explorer MTP transfer is buggy as hell. What I typically do with media is either use MediaMonkey for music (which works flawlessly and very fast over MTP, unlike Explorer) and just adb push for video.
For small transfers (<250MB), MTP through Explorer works okay.
Hi guys, how come that whenever I try to create a new folder in Galaxy Nexus from my desktop, my connection to the phone will always get stuck. Some files I tried to copy over also face the same problem. But files like video and mp3s are able to get through.
Any ideas guys?

Weird...i have created a few new folders with no problems...Do you have a mac or pc?
Mine a pc.
Anyone any idea?
Windows XP/Vista/7?
I had an issue with this yesterday (Win7). I created the folder in Windows, but it wouldn't see the folder, or it would only display "New Folder" instead of the name I gave it.
Upon going into the parent directory using the device, it read the directory fine. So it could be a read problem, not a write problem.
Windows 7 user here..
same problem here
any solutions?
If you're running on Windows, make sure you have the correct drivers installed, then just for fun, check USB debugging, that usually solves the problems in Windows...
Or, if you really want to be cool, get rid of Windows and use Linux/Ubuntu, because this is the OS, that is used to cook Android... So, it obviously has all the drivers you should ever need
Hi,
Exist some Explorer of Isolated storage thats run without Zune or
Windows developers tools ?
Thanks for advice.
hi
you use a htc device, so you can install the htc root webserver xap.
read this post and try it. it's really simple to use.
you will have access to isolated storage, too.

Nice looking app, but If I can't connect to wifi how to connect to ISOLATED storage ? Works it also if I connect my device via microUSB cable to PC ?
Thanks.
hi
no at that time, it works only via wlan. you can put in the usb-cabel and a ip is showing up, but you can't connect to this ip.
steps to do:
open the webserver app on your device
in the app change the password in one of yours
connect to the showing ip adress in browser on your computer
type in username and password
have fun, the rest is self explanatory!

ok, if I cant connect to wifi the web server is for me
useless solution.
But I found out something else watch this: I got HD2
my microSD card is 8GB. There are 2 partition one is something 7.5 GB
and second this is important is FAT16 200MB.
I installed new FileBrowser and in this app I can see folder Storage Card
and I am able to copy files on this FAT16 partition without problem
and I can read it in card reader and oposite if I copy something in card reader
to FAT16 I can copy it from this "Storage Card" folder in device File Browser and copy it to device.
Shame that It works only on devices with Storage card.
Thats why I love my HD2, Igot WP 7.5 and microSD slot
