Sometimes when i try to make a picture, the screen (in camera mode) screws up. It turns Pink and getal divided into numerous squares. If i press the trackball Button to take the picture than the picture looks just fine, but its Pretty anoying sometimes.

Since I'm new here, can't post link, so search on youtube for :
HTC Desire camera glitch
hardware or software?

I watched the video you mentioned and that is exactly the problem im having. I Hope its a software problem, so it can be fixed easily. It seems we are not the only ones having this issue. There are lots of desire owners having this same issue... but i haven't found a solution so far.

Found another at modaco too

I made a thread late april about that problem, in Desire General:
f o r u m .xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6512903
Looks like it is a real issue plaguing the Desire, threads are starting to pop-up from everywhere.

Yes it looks familiar. You have the same camera issue. Is it a Desire, android 2.1 or sense issue. Any word on this issue on other phones (Legend, n1) ?

Finally got my Desire back from HTC Repairs, after just over 2 weeks and in that time they managed to do a full-on, no-holds-barred, kill-or-cure, lets-get-this-sorted-once-and-for-all.... rom flash.
Yes, thats right, the camera was buggered and in 2 weeks they managed to flash the rom. Needless to say, within an hour of receiving the phone, it happened again.
Sent back to HTC for repair again, this time including photos of the problem and prints of this and a number of other threads on the problem. Hopefully they will do something about it this time.

I get this occasional, I didn't find it enough of a problem to return the phone though, good luck with that.

look like the cause is using data on 2G network
try downloadung a webpage trough a 2G or edge connection and launch the camera, the pink sqares are visible.
With 3G it seems I do not have the issue
hope this helps

Email mark as read / multi selection missing ?

Well.. I'm in a very lucky position to have a HTC desire AND a Galaxy S.. one must go! At the moment my desire is on eBay but as each second passes I'm thinking I've made the wrong decision.
There are a few things I like on the samsung that if I were to keep my desire would want.. I've managed to add the patch so I can now press to trackpad to wake the desire (like the samsung) this was one major thing that bothered me coming from an iphone is you have to press the power button at the top.. anyway that's sorted now.
The other thing (main reason for this post) Is...
On my mail app on the samsung you can select multipul emails by tapping a tick box at the side, I can then select 'set as read' or something like that in the menu. On my desire I need to go into each email which is a pain.
SO.. the question is can I make the desire work something similar to the galaxy? I've noticed the default android has this tick box.. and so does the Desire HD?? so is it just my phone thats messed up? I've rooted it so I can load whatever into it.
Just found a pic.. the tick boxes are missing on mine!!!

Is there no stock apk that can be flashed ? O and something else.. contacts - I like them listed first name / surname.. from what Ive found it's not possible on the desire to swap these round... any fixs for this ?
thanks,
Steve
Let's hope HTC will update mail app to the Desire HD version on the 2.3 update.
well.. the decison has been made for me.. the Desire went tonight for £280 on eBay.. not a bad price I dont think. Will have to see how I settle with this ssamsung now.
Thanks
Steve

Stock browser

Hi everyone, I'm new here.
I really love the stock browser it supports flash which many other browsers now don't. The problem I am having is internet pages are taking 5 mins to load sometimes I have to reset it because it takes so long and the loading bar doesn't move.
Is anyone having this problem? What can I do? I have looked on the app store other browsers do not support flash anymore I used to use opera mobile.
Thanks people.

Try clearing the data and cache out of the stock browser and see if that speeds things up. IMO however Chrome is the best and quickest browser available (and it supports Flash I think)
Hi and welcome
i'm having the same prob as you but it's been happening to me randomly on and off for years, i guess it can't be rom related or even phone related so it must be the signal/reception in the area ... have you tried on wifi?
Chrome doesn't support flash otherwise I would use it as it is really good. Stock is good just has its moments when it doesn't work. I haven't had any problems with wifi on so far but then I have only started having problems with the browser today. It might just be the reception and the signal like you said due to the rain (In the UK).

That's a shame. When Chrome comes out of Beta then im sure it going to support Flash (desktop version already has it built in).
When is it coming out of beta?

I have the same problem, with the stock browser and chrome. "connection to the server timed out". I actually sold my original X because of it. It's not as often on my new one.
My DHD was the same, but at least "Force stop" fixed the problem. No such luck with my X.

Is this a new One X problem/issue?

Today my phone, for no known reason is trying to download this "tmm.jpg,ttm.jpg" I cannot not stop the process as yet, this is what I have tried...
1. Long and short pressing the icon (nothing happens)
2. Toggling on and off wifi and network data
3. Restart
4. Turn on and off
5. Stopping all running apps
6. 3 & 4 again
Yet it is still trying to download, I have no idea what tmm.jpg,tmm.jgp is, but, I assume some kind of picture file, maybe something to do with android or the 3 branding on my phone?
I am on 3 network UK and yesterday I upgraded to 1.28.771.9 the latest 3 branded software.
Not only is this problem annoying, but it is killing my battery. Please can someone help I don't want to factory restore if I don't have to.
Here is a screen shot...

Weird, it has finally stopped downloading on its own, after about 2 hours?!! Not sure what it was, but should this happens to anyone else just wait, it takes a long time whatever it is.

I've had that prob a few times in the past and found that going into settings > apps > all > download manager > clear data + cache gets rid of the gremlins
Thanks I'm sure you're post will help others. Fortunatly for me this issue hasn't returned, touch wood.

Nothing to do with 3, look's like you went on a website with some sort of virus. If that download has completed, I'd be extremely weary. I recommend Kaspersky or maybe even AVG like mentioned above.
Hi all,
Just installed avast anti virus from the market, it says my phone is virus free so that's a relief.

Losing connectivity (3g data) randomly

My HTC One X keeps having issues and I'm looking forward to future updates that will hopefully fix them.
I am losing 3g/2g data connectivity every now and then. When it happens I have tried pinging 8.8.8.8 (google dns) and get a "host unreachable... 9".
Airplane mode or toggling data doesn't help. I need to restart the phone to get back 3g data.
I am On O2. I frequently use the widget 2g3g onOff to toggle 2g/3g
Is there any way to troubleshoot the connectivity to try and find out the root cause?
cheers
Others had this issue. If you have an unbranded phone. Try the 1.29.401.12 ruu this included a new radio which might fix your problem.

It's a branded and unrooted HTC One X so a different ROM isn't an option at the moment.
Would be interested in further troubleshooting like traceroute, ifconfig (is not present on android?) and etc

I know you've probably already got over this or perhaps even switched to a new device, but I found an application that really helps with that problem.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dazbradbury.restartConnections&hl=en
I face this problem at least four or five times every single day but I am afraid to go to HTC about this since my phone is rooted and with a custom ROM on it and I cannot actually revert to Ice Cream Sandwich because I updated my HBOOT to 1.31 and I cannot revert to 1.28 since I have a S-ON device.
I have tried several custom ROMs and the one with least network/signal problems was the stock ICS ROM, whereas custom ones seem to have a lot more bugs and issues with them, but I guess that's expected. Battery life is much better on stock ROMs, though, and overall performance. I am hoping Jelly Bean will be released for my HTC_J15, though.
My connectivity issue was resolved with the last update from HTC.
thank for taking the time posting the info. If I ever get networking problems again then I'll check out the app.
Oh you're most welcome, mate. Your thread appeared as I was Googling the problem and trying to find a permanent solution for it.
I've also heard that the Radio version could be a factor in the network strength.

I don't really understand the whole dB thing because I am not into networking. lol
What pisses me off is that the device drops data connection while I am in the same spot and haven't moved. When I am outside and drops it, I keep convincing myself that perhaps this spot has no signal or something, but then again other people are using their devices just fine, and I used my BlackBerry in those same spots just fine a month and a half ago!

Partial "crashed" screen for a split second - soft- or hardware issue?

I've been using my One X for several weeks now (I think the hboot date is around early June so it's not one of the early batches) and so far didn't have any problem except for the following:
Twice, first a few weeks ago and the second time last night I saw some "artifacts". I'm not quite sure but I think different parts of the screen were affected each time. What happens is that everything is shown how it's supposed to be except for a 30%-40% area which looks a little like a computer screen right after a software/driver crash can look like. Without doing anything, it disappeared each time after less than a second.
I wasn't able to take a screenshot but the following photo shows how it roughly looked like. In my case, there were only lines and cubes in black, white and bright green instead of the more "fuzzy" parts shown in the photo.

Is this a driver issue? A lose connection? A display fault? I was close to unlocking my phone but with this having happened twice so far I wonder whether I should wait a little longer...
PS: It's probably unrelated, but like a minute later I encountered some "keypad ghosting" via swiftkey, i.e. I was pressing some keys on the keyboard and it was inserting several different ones each time. I do suppose that it's a software glitch, though, as I tried the stock keyboard another minute later and this worked fine.
If you can still swap your device with your retailer I would do that, just to be on the save side...
did u update to latest already?
if yes,
was it there before u updated..??
it doesn't look like a hardware issue

No, everything was where it was supposed to be and the artifacts faded away after probably less than a second.
I still have the latest stock Rom, haven't updated yet. I do think it's been more of a software glitch but I couldn't find information on here or anywhere else which would state a similar problem. Which is good?
