Music over Bluetooth - Desire General

In the past I have used my HTC hero with my cars stereo to talk to people and also play my music as it is able to do both. For some reason though it looks like HTC has taken the option to play music through my car kit out of the Desire as all I can do is use the phone feature.
Does anyone know why this has been done and is there a way of getting it to do as the hero did with an apk.? Or am I being stupid here and missing something real simple?
Cheers

I got my desire yesterday and the music plays back over bluetooth to my headunit without any problem. I'd suggest re-pairing.

I too can confirm it works correctly with my new ford fiesta, using the standard bluetooth

Cheers for the feedback. I will try re-pairing again and see if it was just a bad original set up.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Cheers

[Q] Playing Google Navigation Voice directions through in car Bluetooth connection?

I'm looking at getting a new vehicle. The vehicle has bluetooth connectivity designed for handsfree phone use. I was only briefly able to test during the test drive but there was no problem connecting and using the phone function with the cars Bluetooth but when I switched to the Google Navigation app the voice directions would not play via Bluetooth. I've looked for some kind of internal setting to force this to happen but I don't see anything.
Is it possible to play the Google Navigation voice directions and or Voice Search functionality through a vehicles built in Bluetooth connection?
I thought it automatically did so.

Swyped from Eva running Myn's RLS4!
it does automatically do so...at least in my car...I have a 2011 ford mustang
I believe your car needs to support A2DP for those to play through
Works in my car fine. 2008 Aston Martin Vantage. (Not to brag, that's just what car I have.)

Aston Martin's don't care where you drive to, just that you drive.

I have to concure with Brian... The newer bluetooth devices have a2d2 support and you might want to check the specifications of the Bluetooth that installed in the car. Alot of the newer bluetooth models are able to be updated. I just purchased the BlueAnt Q1 and it had two firmware updates, one which contained the a2d2 update. Before the update, I couldnt play music or GPS thru my head set - afterwards how ever, I was able to play music and GPS also feeds thru my headset... hope this helps you figure it out..

Yep, it must be capable of A2DP bluetooth streaming. My wife's BT car kit will only do phone calls, no bluetooth streaming so voice directions won't work. I on the other hand have an after market Kenwood headunit that does both and it works great. It's the car/stereo, not the phone.
Also when switch roms i have noticed on repairing with my unit sometimes it just pairs phone audio and a dissconnect and repair gets them.both agian Just a thought

Use Tunewiki instead of the stock music player.

Mine has navigation, yes, however it's the most complicated POS you've ever seen.

I checked the manufacturers website for the 2011 Honda Odyssey (it's no Aston Martin but I have 3 kids under age 2 and need a vehicle that can hold 3 car seats in one row ) and it says A2DP is supported. Honestly I didn't try to make any changes or test anything in the Bluetooth settings. I only tested it with the phone and then started Navigation and it directed output to the built in speaker. I will try it again when I get a chance. Thanks for the help!!!

Bluetooth not syncing to car properly

Ok, so I'm new to the forum and have a question. I have a 2012 hyundai elantra and a galaxy s3. the problem that I am having is that everytime I get into the car I have to resync the bluetooth. I had a iphone before and never had a problem, I would get in and out of the car and the car would recognise it without me doing anything at all, this is how I know its not a issue with the car. Can someone please help me out with any tips or suggestions on what to do? also, I lurked around this forum for reasons for why to switch from the iphone and it was a great help and I dont miss the iphone at all! oh, also if it matters, I'm in canada and I have done nothing to the phone, its completely stock from telus.
If you turn bluetooth off you might havebto resync it everytime if you leave it on it should auto connect just see if that works

How long are you waiting to see if it will connect? My S3 sometimes takes almost a minute before it automatically connects (2011 Kia). My Atrix used to connect almost instantly.

[Q]A2DP on CM 10.

I'm curious as to how to set up bluetooth audio. My car supports it (Jetta TDI 2010). When I connect with bluetooth I can't seem to figure out how to use it. This is my first android phone and I've never used bluetooth audio before.
Just looking to be pointed in the right direction. Google hasn't been too helpful.

I'm not sure I understand what your problem is?
You can't figure out how to use bluetooth in what way, exactly?

When my phone is connected to my car via bluetooth, I cannot get the phone to stream audio, nor can I get the car to recognize that the phone has A2DP capabilities (I know my car works, I have the bluetooh audio connection and my friend used it with his droid)
I'm just not sure if I'm missing some small important piece to get the audio streaming.

So the phone call bluetooth works but not the music bluetooth?
Go into the bluetooth settings for your phone. And make sure both checkmarks are checked, one for phone and one for audio. You'll do this by editing the bluetooth connection to your car.

[Q] Streaming audio questions? T-Mobile

Hey guys, I have a question for you. I have a VZW GNex and have no issues at all with it (except the high bill). I am looking to transfer to T Mobile and have purchased a used GNex unlocked to run on the TMo network. The phone works great.
However, I do have one issue, streaming audio. I use either iheartradio or google music to stream, and when sitting here in my room I don't have an issue, but in the car the audio keeps cutting out every 10 seconds or so and I have to restart the stream.
Anybody else on TMobile have this issue? Any way I can change it?

I have tried with using bluetooth AND just a cable running from the headphone jack of the phone to the aux in port on my stereo with the same result.
Figured it out when I got on the phone with Tmo... apparently they had to update the IMEI number to fully unlock it? Doesn't make much sense to me, but it works now.

Anyway to force bluetooth metadata to send to my car?

I have a brand new 2015 Hyundai Sonata, and my girlfriends Galaxy S5 can send metadata and track info to my stereo no problem (using google play music). My new Galaxy Note 4. refuses to send the track info... I've tried using the AutoAudio app which will allegedly fix the problem, but that didn't help. I also tried using Poweramp and the stock music player as well, hoping that something would work, and nothing does. However, my dash unit and steering wheel can CONTROL the phone, just not display what it's doing.. So it appear AVRCP is working but not bluetooth metadata.
It's such a minor thing, but it's driving me nuts. Any ideas?
Bump -- I also noticed the sound quality over bluetooth (for the same files) is way worse with my Note 4.
I get the same problem on my 2012 Mazda 3. My understanding is it's a problem with Bluetooth 4.1 compatibility. It makes no sense as it is supposed to be backwards compatible, but it's pretty regularly reported that many car stereos aren't fully compatible with the latest Bluetooth spec and this is the result. Bothers me too. If anyone is able to get it working, please share. I'm certainly interested in a solution.

So Hyundai themselves actually called me and said that my headunit is running some really old Bluetooth stack... So old that the new version of bluetooth isn't that far backwards compatible.. It will play audio, but at a lower quality and without metadata.. They said the headunit software manufacturer (MNSoft) might have a firmware update, but they generally only do those for nav systems.

I googled MNSoft and what showed up for me was the mapping software that Hyundai uses. Would that really have to do with Bluetooth and metadata? I have a 2013 elantra with nav. I get no metadata on my screen either. Sound quality is great though since mine does come with the upgraded sound system.

2011 mazdaspeed with nav here. Same results. Haven't called for update
Last I heard from Mazda, they can't (or won't) update the software. They consider it done. I find that aggravating as cars should last longer than phones and the radio isn't easy to change out
