Is there anyway to remove this & the missed calls? Kind of hte purpose of locking the phone ya know...
Yeah, exactly what I thought!
If you use Handcent SMS, which is much better than the stock app imo, you can enable, disable popup over the lock screen.
You can also tell it to show the popup so you can see who its from but not show the text contents.
i actually think that option is quite useful, being able to see if you have new mssages with one click
I like it alot too, i can see if it's worth unlocking the phone accoring th who did the missed call/sms or mail. It's the main reason why i like senses lock screen over androids stock!
Sense lock screen? How do I enable that....This is my 1st android phone so i know nothing about the OS

if only it did it for emails too!
I realize it has been a while but no body came up with a solution.
I'm don't like the fact that anyone who picks up my phone can see the actual text message on my screen. Having the sms icon on the notification bar is enough, is there way to remove the text from the lockscreen?
Use pattern lock?

Even when using pattern lock, when you wake the phone you will first see HTC lockscreen. So it doesn't help...

No solution to this? It is the most annoying thing. I can not believe that there is no options to disable sms preview on the lock screen. I would make great donation for someone who can fix this
Buy widget locker from market. It replaces the while lock screen with a customizable one
I see no reason why its causing problem. Its only showing a little right?
yeah, it only shows the number (or name) and some words of the message (maybe the first 3?), not more. Don't see where it is such a huuuuuge problem or is your phone always in other people's hands?
well 3 words can make a huge problem, and yes my phone is very often in other people hands But I found a solution. with chomp sms there is a setting which disable this notifications...It is pain in the ass to use two different sms clients but it is better than nothing.
Well I guess a small option could've been included, but I can't see any real issue here really. Every tentht user here doesn't have a Facebook with hundreds of unnecessary people who can take participation in your private lives, and it is not considered a privacy issue, but three small words and a name on a lock screen are??
The real issue here is that your phone should be holstered in your pocket when not used, and not in other people's hands.
well IMO, the issue here is that, when you use a different app from stock one, the unread SMS count does not disappear when you read messages with a non stock app...
That's annoying!

I was looking at my HD today and had an idea.
I use a silicone cover/case, and hence it covers the power button (LED light)... so my idea was some sort of visual notification via the display for various items (such as missed call, new SMS, etc.)
This idea comes in part from the Diamond's visual notification via the round circle/d-pad.
I think this would be possible... here is my thinking:
Since the phone already "wakes up" during a call/missed call... and there is the "wake on SMS" option as well -- then after either, have a program change the screen to black (hide TouchFLO or Today Screen), and display a design or color pattern on the screen. I think the program would also have to prevent the screen from going to sleep and/or offer a timer setting for this. In any case, displaying something on the screen to alert you to a missed call... something like a screen saver.
Once a program is created, then the fun part will be creating new designs / patterns / colors for the screen.
Any ideas on this?
Thanks.
Anyone?
Or anyone at least think this is a good idea? Or perhaps, are there other programs out there like this?
Thanks!
I think it's a great idea, to be honest.
With the creativity of people in these forums, it shouldn't be an impossible mission

Sounds interesting I wonder how it would be on the battery though. I think it would be nice if the screen would light up but maybe not as bright as the notification on the Raphael but something to that effect. I like the idea though.
i like it too.. i think im gonna try writing something for this one!
Any updates on this one?
Or any one know of any other programs out there that might do something similar. I hate not knowing I have missed calls/SMS.
Thanks all...
I saw in an other post a program that vibrates/sounds the device in a set interval until you acknowledge the missed call/sms.
No idea where it's located, but the search functionallity can do wonders.
I use S2U2, and if I understand your requirements correctly, it does exactly that.
I usually have the phone switched off using the power button (so the screen is blank). If there is a missed call or a new sms, my phone automatically wakes up and S2U2 gives me notifications about new SMS and/or missed call.
Under the Windows power settings, I have the phone configured to turn off backlight after 10 seconds, and the the option 'Turn off device if not used for' option disabled. This makes sure my device does not go back to sleep if there is a missed call or SMS. You also need to have the option to show missed calls and SMS alerts in S2U2 settings enabled. So when a call is missed or new SMS, my phone will be awake with backlight switched off. If I tap on the screen, S2U2 will show my anything I have missed.
I think you also need 'Wake up on new SMS' option enabled in HD Tweak.
PhoneAlarm
Or you can use Phone Alarm, this can be set to repeat alarm noticifcations for missed calls, messages, etc including vibration and sound options for each type of alarm. Also, offers an otpion whether or not the backlight comes on. Have been using this softwarte for years, also provides profile options.

Hi, Checked out the Website, Looks Good... Does it work with TF3D??
Tnx
Thanks for the replies,
I actually already use PhoneAlarm from Pocketmax. It works GREAT on my Touch HD. What's neat about it, is that it has an option where it makes a softkey at the bottom to toggle between your Today Screen and TouchFLO.
What exactly I was looking for was some "visual" notification of a missed call/sms. This would be both functional and "cool" to see.
The thought comes from the HTC Diamond, where the light around the d-pad flashes in a circle.
Of course on the Touch HD, the only option would be on the display. So I was thinking of cool screen designs (like a screensaver), where if you had a missed call or SMS, the phone would "wake up" but then show some sort of design.
[As I was typing this I paused at this point and went to research S2U2 more... and I am going to try it out right now -- it does seem to do what I am looking for!]
However, if anyone reads what I mentioned above and has any other ideas (or even a more of a simple program) that would do the same, let us know... THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!!
-Keith
I installed S2U2 and i didn't find it of any use (My original intention was to install to provide the Iphone Like Slier). I recall it does show you on screen if you have received a text, not sure if their was a visual notification.
I will have to read up on S2U2 and see what other benefits it has.
So many Apps out their that do so many different things, it's like being a kid in a sweetshop. I guess it's about deciding which app to use based on what you need it for.
Nevertheless...Absolutely brilliant work from all those who actually take time out to develop these apps - and can't thank them enough!
Let me know how S2U2 works for you and meanwhile i'll read up on it again
All the best...
I tried phonealarm, but
Heh Keith,
I actually love phonealarm and have used it for years. But now, though I've been in touch with the developer who btw provides excellent cs, I'm quite convinced that PA is causing a heavy battery drain. I've been experimenting with PA on, then uninstall it, reinstall it, etc. Yesterday, started with a full charge and with PA, 5 hours later down to 60%. I was able to uninstall PA with about 60% charge remaining and immediately, the drain stopped. Charge stayed above 60% for the next several hours. BTW, this is on a fuze. I've also checked all settings in PA. The developer says he did note that he saw a big power drop from the PA logs, but couldn't determine what caused it. Curious how PA is working for you.
I just don't get it
So maybe I'm making a fool of myself-talking to myself at least. I just did a whole day's worth of testing with and without PA. Now there seems to be no difference or perhaps just a very little. The only things that I did different this time was loaded PA after I installed all of the other apps (rather than before) and I didn't enable touch flo support. I wonder if that could be it. With touch flo support enabled, then touch flo runs in the background? Did I read that somewhere in another thread?
If you dont want/need all the bells & whistles & want a 'light' program try alarm pal by the same mob as phone alarm.
I've been using it for awhile on the HTC HD.
If I miss a call/sms/mail it plays an alert every few minutes till I acknowledge it.
I figure I am more likely to 'hear' an alert than 'see' an alert

I've had a good search and this problem's come up quite a few times but I haven't found a working solution. To answer/reject calls the Desire requires a vertical swipe. This obviously causes problems when removing from a pocket. First off an F- for HTC in Product Design. You should test your products before producing them!
Ok, so what is the best solution? I don't understand the technology well, so I'm not looking for any complicated solutions - ideally I'd like a tested app. Can anyone recommend one from experience? Otherwise can anyone recommend another solution, other than orientating or holding the phone a certain way? Everyone's obviously in the same boat here. Thanks.
It's a capacitive screen.
You shouldn't be sliding the screen even if the screen slides against your pants. Don't put your fingers on the screen when taking it out.
It's the simple answer you don't want, but you're probably not finding any other results because it is that simple.
Slide to answer is similar to slide to unlock however, so you might have more luck finding workarounds that change the unlock mechanism and see if they happen to mention ways to change slide to answer.

When I used Sense ROM (switch to Oxygen some time ago) I used WidgetLocker with the option to hide an incoming call activated. I basically added an vanilla style slider (slide to right to unlock) over HTC's slide down to answer.
Is not a perfect solution because
- the program it's not free
- you have to swipe twice (once to right, once down) to answer a call
But it saved me a lot of trouble with answering too soon or rejecting calls
You could also try Incoming Call Plus, I didn't had the chance.

I hope for mankind's sake that you are not a designer. Ps it occurs too when removing it from a slide-in case, where my fingers have no connection with the screen.
@dboy - is it simple a matter of installing an app and then you have 'slide right to unlock' and it won't install anything else on the phone?
Has anyone tested Incoming Call Plus?

You install the apk and you get an alternative lockscreen that, among others, features slide right to unlocked on incoming call.
It has many other options: place any widget on lock screen, unlock by trackpad, custom sliders, show/hide notification bar, allow/disallow interactions on lock screen
Like any other market purchase you have 15 minute to decide if you want to keep it or click refund.
I use Lookout to make sure no malware lands on my phone, and so far I had no problems, it only changes my lockscreen.

Not with mine. So you're saying HTC design gets an F- for not testing the product with your particular conductive (there's your problem) case in your particular situation? That seems rather blunt.
If you don't want to try out Incoming Call Plus/whatever you could replace your case with a nonconductive one.
You can solve it with WidgetLocker as someone already told you.
Before widgetlocker I also saw sometimes that the Sense slider moved when I took the phone out of my pocket or my slide-in case, but never as far as it would accept the call.
Now I am using WidgetLocker with Sense slider but it does not use this vertical swype to accept calls. Does anyone know if there is an option to activate it? I would like to use the vertical swype in combination with WidgetLocker.
Thanks

WidgetLocker -> Menu -> Settings -> Popups -> Hide Incoming Call.
If check it should hide the vertical slide beneath a horizontal one. Uncheked it should show only the vertical slide.

If I check it, WidgetLocker hides the call and I have to unlock first, then get the screen with the green and red button to accept/reject the call. If i leave it unchecked this screen will pop over the widgetlocker slider. But its both not what I want . I would like to have the slider (that you can slide down for accept and up for reject) poping up when someone is calling me. Is this possible in WidgetLocker or not? Cannot find any option to activate it, just got the normal slider but without this function.

i am searhcing for the same answer..an ideea anyone?
If you're having problems with pocket answering calls, try this app. I've asked the developer to add some sort of incoming call protection, which he did. It works great for me. Before answering/rejecting a call, you have to short-press a precise software button. There's no way it can be pressed while in the pocket.
Later Edit: The feature is also be present in the free version, so try that one first.
Hi,
Sometimes, when my DHD is in my pocket and it rings, I take it out of my pocket and, Unintentionally, rejecting the call (it seems that I am touching the screen).
Any idea how to stop it from happen?
Hi, I use Call Confirm App as I used to have the same problem, thankfully not anymore now.
What is the name of the apps?
Thanks
Call Confirm App
I installed it but it is good only for outgoing calls.
I need an app for incoming calls.
Oops sorry about that still haven't got rid of my hangover yet.
Only other thing I can suggest is get a leather-ish flip case.
I use one I got off the "bay" and it does the job OK.
Del.
Thanks.
No app?
I have exactly the same problem.
If you like, you can check my theme here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911474 and especially its last post... but I havent found any "full" solution yet.
I have the same problem too.. :/ The only solution so far is to pull it out from the pocket very carefully without touching the screen. That just annoys the hell out of me.
I believe this will solve your problem. It's in the market and it allows you to delay button presses, to prevent accidental rejections. Check it out.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/easy-answer-button-free/org.nsd.easyanswer
Via the XDA app for the HTC Inspire
you have several options, but unfortunely none of them are great! =oP
this "slide" is a part of htc framework, so it can't be changed (if you wanna stay with sense)
so, when i'm with sense i prefer widget locker, it's a really great app, "solve" this problem by put a unlock screen over the original one (so, you pick out the pocket, unlock the phone/widget locker, see who is calling and slide up/down to answer/deny, basicaly you need to unlock you phone twice)
other idea is simply disable the lock screen and use widget locker to unlock the phone, the idea is:
- Disabling lockscreen you will get a incoming call with no slider, it will be replaced by that simple two buttons "answer" and "decline" (the same you got when the phone rings and you are using it)
- when lockscreen is disabled, the screen goes off, but any key turn it on again, so, you use widget locker to solve it, and let the option "over the original answer/deny call" ticked (but it won't stay over anything, because lockscreen is disabled)
you can also try http://www.appbrain.com/app/proximity-screen-off/com.itsme4ucz.screenoff
that app has a option that let your phone with screen off when it is in your pocket, using proximity sensor.

my screen goes blank.. but the call is still pending sometimes.
I am using WidgetLocker along with Go SMS Pro. I really like the popup feature, but I dont want it to popup when I am on my Lockscreen in WidgetLocker.
I causes me to miss out on some sms because when WidgetLocker locks my screen again after the popup GO SMS think it is because I have read the sms, and then it removes all notifications of ever receiving a new sms.
When using stock lockscreen the popup is visible after unlocking my screen, but not i WidgetLocker. Any solution to get this working? It works find with Handcent, so I guess this has something to do with GO

Go into WidgetLocker settings, and then Popups. Click the box that says "Hide SMS Popups" and see how that works. If it doesn't work, you might have to figure out the package name of the GO SMS alert and do "Hide other".
Hide sms popup doesn't work, go sms seems to override it.
Under "hide others" I got rid of the popup, but it also removes all kinds of notifications from GO SMS. I used com.jb.gosms
This is a bug in GoSMS. GoSMS is prematurely dismissing the notification when their activity is paused, even if the activity is paused by the system like during an incoming phone call or when WidgetLocker takes over. The Android API provides onUserLeaveHint specifically for an activity to use to know if it should dismiss the notification or not, however GoSMS does not use this.
I've contacted them multiple times about this issue and received no response.
A user has reported a work around, though it's suboptimal:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13407339&postcount=1195
The work around with gosms/WL to make the led blink on new messages is to always have an unread text. Use whatever means you want, sent yourself a text; I use something simple, "DO NOT ERASE". Upon receipt, do not open, or if you have popups enabled, press 'to do', which leaves it marked unread. Now, for any new texts received, the led will always blink.

how about just putting the gosms widget on the widgetlocker lock screen? That way the last message received will always be there.
I am not interested in having a sms widget on my lock screen.
Regarding the "fix", my phone dont have a notification Led. It this wont be sorted out soon I guess I have to look for a different SMS app, even though I think GO SMS is the best one (except from this bug).
Have you tried Noled? I haven't tried it with GoSMS as I use Handcent but I don't think Go will overide it's notification once activated.
Rather than start a new thread, thought I'd ask if anyone else was able to hear their notification sound when receiving a message as I haven't

I'd say give his suggestion a try anyway. Even though the phone doesn't have a physical LED, the OS itself still supports it, and that might be more important than anything. It's very possible that it'll still work.
gosms released an update yesterday which supposedly fixes this problem.
Hmm, no update in marked for Go sms as I can see
That's weird mine updated and is working fine now
The update showed up today. It is better now, but the popup still gets on top of WidgetLocker, but now it dont remove the notifications when the screen get locked again.

From what I have experienced it is seen throughout the Android OS, but as I said a modification could exist or an application on the play store
You can also try using Go SMS, there's an option for msg pop up and direct reply. I used to like it on my Desire Z, but the stock messaging app is just so nice xD
Rocking the Lee on my HTC One X
Use Sms Popup - does exactly what iphone does =] (and can even set a mode to make the message pop up private so that the name/message doesnt appear straight away). Plus you can still use the stock messaging app.
If you only want the screen to light up, Tasker can do this. Tasker in combination with Secure Settings (which you can find here on XDA)

I know this isn,t going to help you but my HOX does this on the standard unrooted 1.28 ROM for some reason. The funny thing is that it also started doing this for my emails a week ago without me changing anything! Also I hate this feature and wanted it to go back to how it should behave as standard but I haven' t been able to turn it off.
