Guys.
Please let me know if this is in the wrong location.
I have created a gold card and also applied a generic rom to my HTC desire removing all T-Mobile branding etc etc. That process has worked and all is good.
The issue i have is that in Recovery mode the PC cant see my device. I have copied the update.zip to my SD card booted into Recovery mode and then tried to run the recovery-windows.bat but all i get is device not found. In FastBoot i can see my device but in recovery nothing.
Can anyone help me fix this as i would really like to get get my applications on my SD card
Thanks in advance
Craig
Have a read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=672970.
That may not be your particular issue, but it's worth reading to rule it out!
Are you running windows 7 64bit?
I had this problem & simply had to uninstall the driver from device manager & re-install it.
Other thing is I had to ensure cmd was running as admin.
Hope this helps

This is a strange problem, I cant tell when it started but it did all of a sudden. When I try to connect my phone to my computer it all of a sudden does not recognize the device (it shows under USB in device manager as unknown device). This happens on my laptop and stationary one (XP and Windows Home Server). On my work computer and my girlfriends laptop (Windows vista) nothing happens at all. The only thing happens is my phone shows notification about HTC Sync (doesnt show the "mount SD card" option). I cant install modaco 2.x since it says it isnt signed when I try to run update.zip from "home+power" mode.
Anyone knows a solution? I really want to flash either modaco or the official HTC rom.

have you instaled HTC Sync + the Android SDK? Drivers are included, also ensure you have gone to settings > Application Settings > Development.. and selected USB Debugging in the handset
if you have done the above you should be able to...
Sync your device
Do a nandroid backup
Root your device
and flash, flash, flash
hope this helps
Thing is, all those stuff is checked. The strangest thing is that the phone doesnt even ask me if I want to mount the SD card (to make the phone like a card reader). I successfully flashed the generic rom again (so my phone is not rooted etc etc) but it still cant connect to any computer through USB (except from when in bootloader (back+power). Its really starting to bugging me since I cant transfer music to the phone anymore I tried a hard-reset, flashed a generic rom (the new one) and formatted the SD card (the phone can read and write to/from it without problems).
I've got the same problem for quite some time now and still no answers...! :-(
It seems very few people on these boards know of our exact problem and i've never seen a solution. Also not from the many people on these boards I consider guru's. :-(
I'm at a total loss here...
I will call HTC Sweden today and see if they can help me solve this issue. I will get back to this thread as soon as Ive been speaking to them. This is starting to really bugging me.
First of all, I would try reformatting your SD card on the phone itself via Menu-> SD card & Phone Storage. If you need anything on the card, you'll have to stick the SD card in adaptor and attach it to your PC directly.
Secondly, by the sounds of it you haven't flashed Cyanogens recovery image, or your HBOOT is wrong, if you are getting a problem with the signature on Modacos image. Either flash Cyanogen recovery, or follow the instructions found on another thread for restoring your HBOOT to an earlier version.
Regards,
Dave

Should I update something? And how would that help me get USB connection to work outside fastboot? Since its only working in fastboot and not in the android system itself?
Answer from HTC:
If you are getting the 'USB Device not recognized' error in XP, then your device has a faulty USB port. You need to call our repair line to gte it booked in for repair. That really is all there is, once the hardware dies and starts giving that error, there generally is no hope apart from replacing the USB socket or the whole motherboard. best regards, HTC Europe Support
Would have been nice if they could include in this message where I should turn etc?
I had the same error when I flashed my unit with wrong radio image (newer version) without flashing system and boot images. Then I reflashed those as well and everything worked ok.

Is there any update.zip containing all those updates? and would it void my warranty? ex, would HTC be able to see any difference to the hboot etc?
Any guide you could point me to on how to update all those things?
See the following threads with people who have the same problems:

I see more and more people with this problem!
Hi there, as stated in the title I had a CM7.0.3, then ran ROM Manager (I've got Pro version) and tried the option "Search updates for installed ROM". It found and downloaded and update, that was CM7.1.0 buuuuut TOO BAD it downloaded and installed the CDMA version!
When I rebooted the phone, I could enter the system but it couldn't see neighter my SIM card nor my SD card. I can enter in bootloader or recovery mode, and tried to install another ROM without using an SD card (http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-install-a-rom-to-an-android-phone-device-without-sd-card/) but the problem is that when I connect the phone to my PC, Windows XP says it needs Qualcomm CDMA MSM driver that, googling, I found ONLY for Windows CE based phones (it seems included in Active Sync ...).
I searched here in the forum, too, but fond solution only for Windows CE based phones ...
Could you please help me? Thank you so much.
have you tried to restore your nandroid backup?
It was the first thing I tried but ... as I wrote I realized that the phone couldn't see my SD card ... If only I could access the SD card I could install a new ROM since I've Amon-RA correctly working.
I dont know if this will help ... but you can try do 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' in fastboot mode.

Well, this could help, but if I connect the phone to Windows XP, it says that "Qualcomm CDMA MSM driver" is missing and I can't do any adb o fastboot instruction ... I can't communicate to the phone through my PC ... at least if I can't find those drivers.
it says 'qualcomm' even in fastboot (back+power) mode ?
No it says "Android 1.0" whatever it means...
Yes that's what it's supposed to do. Then while in fastboot run the command mentioned earlier.
But first boot into recovery and see if you have access from the sd-card(you should have) from there. if so, just use the recovery to transfer a new rom to your phone and then flash it.
So, good news. First of all thank you for your suggestions.
I connected the phone to a Windows PC and even in fastboot mode it can't see the HTC. Buuuuut I connected the phone to my Mac using ADB for Mac and I could access it in fastboot mode! So, I ran the command you wrote, then entered recovery mode and I could see my SD card, so I could install CM7.0.3 and now I can access SD card e use SIM card. So good!!
There's still only one issue: Bluetooth doesn't work! I try to activate it, it says "activating" but after few seconds it fails. I tried to reinstall the latest radio e then again CM7.0.3 wiping, first, alla data. But it still doesn't work. There's a reason for that? But above all, there's a solution?
I'm reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639 right now, hope that works.
Well.. You should try another ROM.. just try any small ROM i.e. devnull.. and check your blutooth.. as it seems your mobile is connecting to pc.. so USB and SD both working.. no need to USB fix.
So, I used the instructions in the link posted before and do an USB fix and now BT is working. I can't test, right now, GPS and USB. To be true, I didn't test USB connection so I am not sure that a USB fix was not needed.
What is strange, is that, fixed BT (and other) issues, I tried to reinstall a new fresh ROM (the CM7.0.3 I had before) and ... the "no SD and no SIM" issue was there again! I had to do the entire process again and then again BT didn't work. I fixed this one too, and now my phone "seems" ok ... I let you know in the next few days hoping now is really all fully working.
Thank you all.
UPDATE: tested GPS and radio, fully working now
HELP!!! yes , its that bad and frustrating for me.
What happened?
I installed the latest CM7#218, and the phone never was able to restart. It was giving the '3-5 vibrates' symptom. After managing to get into recovery mode, i couldnt see anything from SD card. I later erased and reformatted the sd card but to no use.
In detail:
1. Installed CM7#218.
2. phone restart gives 3-5 vibrate symptom, cant even get into recovery mode.
3. tried factory reset , sd card reformat, repair from windows but doesnt help.
4. only when i unplug the device, power on or when i click on recovery mode, and while on the HTC splash screen, if I connect charger, ONLY then i can get into recovery mode or start the base CM7 OS.
5. in recovery mode i cannot see card , tried all possible mounts/unmounts. thus unable to restore any backups
6 when the base OS boots, (using point#4 above), i still cannot see sd card, nor able to format from phone. in file manager i can see my internal storage. But the phone does not give me any usb mount option , so cannot even view the internal memory from windows.
7. referred to the following thread and many other options etc, but doesnt work.
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/6433-solved-messed-up-partitions-on-internal-storage/
the adb shell does not detect my device, tried using 'PDANET' ' ends with 'cannot handshake with device'. tried installing droidexplorer, cannot see my device in the refresh list.
8. Thus as it stands now, i cannot use my internal as well external memory, the web downloads wont go, saying cannot see any memory, same for camera, it cannot see any memory available to it.
9. have already tried N number of restarts, connect disconnect and battery pulls.
10. tried even running the unrevoked, but it cannot connect to device.
11. tried installing all possible drivers as well.
12. its surely not bricked cuz i can use the base OS, and get into recovery through #4 tactics.
HELP!!
Have you seen this?
http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=33
Firstly my sdb shell is nto detecting the device..."error: device not found"
my device manager show "ADB INTERFACE -> HTC BOOTLOADER" and there are no warning icons aroind any other devices, so driver seems to be fine.
You need to install the adb drivers on your pc. It should say adb composite device. I believe you get them from the android sdk.
ok now that i was playing around from recovery..i ended up formatting everything...even boot....so now i no longer get the base OS...the moment i power on my device it automatically goes into hboot...
So, as per the link you shared. it says my phone need to be in fastboot mode...and in fastboot mode the device manager should read 'android bootloader interface'?
I did go through most of the search items initially...stumbling from one issue to another...finally it boils down to adb -device not found issue....its been 2 days and i've almost given up now...
any last minute help?
only the recover mode is working with no access to sd card,
it can access teh internal memory , but there is no way for me to copy any files to the internal memory...it doesn mount neither the adb is working
Have you tried reformating your sd fat32 with a pc, or tried a different sd card? Thats the only other thing i can sugest to try.
yes, that is the first thing i found in other forums and already tried that....
you think you have any suggestions to atleast access my internal memory , may be, from linux (i am not a linux guy but have a ubuntu live cd) so that use the option 'install zip from internal memory'
Im not sure im not much of a linux guy eithet, mabey someone who is will chime in.
Hello:
I just got me an LG G pro E988 and rooted it using the "ZV9-ZVB-Universal-Root" it worked very smooth and nicely,
and downloaded ""FreeGee Free **ROOT Required**"" after booting to recovery made a backup using ""FreeGee Free **ROOT Required**""
then rebooted to verify the backups after reboot, using explorer+ to enter data folder, true to the work, I was able to find the backup I just made, at the internal sd card, data/media/TWRP folder 2GB+!!! but then but then I saw the kitkat! and got excited to upgrade, downloaded the ROM from Cyanogen and saved in my external SD, then I booted to recovery and in the recovery mode at the **Teamwin** menu I wiped and formatted data, system, dalvik, internal storage!!! (I wish I had not done!!) then I clicked install, but ""FreeGee Free **ROOT Required**"" teamwin"" could not locate my new kitkat rom! the external SD card is not visible, so I thought ok let's restore the new backups!!! but the "teamwin" could not even find its own backups!!!! the folder under data\media\TWRP is just vacant nothing in there and no options either just the back button!!! now I can not even do a hard reset to restore by factory reset either because there is an error message and a success boot!!! the "teamwin" boots successfully LOL!!!! I even tried the latest LG PC Suite to restore but the drivers for MPT can not get installed keeps on failing to install so could not even transfer my ROM .zip files to the internal SD to try to install from zip....!!! my device has been rendered USELESS!!! please help, Anyone I am hoping for advise and sulotion!!???? tnx and please in case of any advise just email me at [email protected]
Hi
Don't worry you can solve this using adb sideload you will be able to transfer files to your phone
http://teamw.in/ADBSideload
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CivvxcM1PCY
thanks for advise
thank you so much for your reply
I did read and watched the video in the links you sent me, but my version of the recovery is "team win recovery project
v2.6.3"what they are using and discussing is v2.6.3.1 which comes with a usb mount mine does not have the option or
it is not capable of mounting a usb device I could have transferred the ROM image to the internal sdcard! and my computer
fails to recognize the MPT port and fails to install the drivers for it so no luck yet in using the adb push! or if I am doing
anything wrong please help if you can.
even the LG PC suit is not detecting the my device properly, even when I connect to LGMobile Support Tool and
change the language and country to Singapore! ( its where I have bought the device!) and install the drivers for LGE988
which is the exact unit I have, it does detect the device for a few seconds and goes up to %18 but then it says disconnect
your device and remove the battery and place it back in the device while holding the restart button! I follow exactly as
instructed but when I plug it in again as instructed it goes few more % but again keeps on saying the device is disconnected
RETRY and I keep on retrying with no luck, that's all what it does!!!
I hope you or other guys who have had the same problem with me could help and share experience to solve this little
BIG problem
Thank you very much for the taking time to help....
0. install adb
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269
1. uninstall lg drivers
2. install pdanet software & drivers:
http://pdanet.co/bin/PdaNetA4126.exe
3. boot into recovery
4. plug in your phone and wait until it's recognized by pdanet
5. In TWRP go to Advanced then ADB Sideload
6. put your rom zip file in c:\
7. start the command line, go to your adb folder (step 0) and type adb sideload c:\your-rom-name.zip
thank you i just did it...
thank you so much for your efforts to reply
I did it with my old edb.exe before coming back here to your new reply, I am so thankful to you and this forum for
being very fast and very Helpful, I do not know how but my computer at last was able to recognize my device
under the android devices in device manager! I guess a zillion times of install and uninstall of new usb drivers did it,
and of course, your first reply how to use the adb.exe(I was totally un-aware that it could be done.... LOL.) thanks to
you I have learned it.... after my phone was recognized it was just not difficult to use the side loader...
but I am gonna follow your new advise too and see what I get.... I NEVER give up until I have learn it well
again thank you very much for your guidance and efforts to help this old retired doctor (I may be a good doctor but I
make a lousy programmer it took me the whole day to the things you guys do in minutes.... )
cheers....! I got the kitkat on my phone also a BIG thanks to Cyanogen and TWRP guys...
thanks
Thank you
thank you I did download the minimal edb and fast root installer
and I am gonna do the thins all over again, thank you and keep up
the Very Good work that you do Helping the others its very nice of you.
Cheers!!!

"Device driver software was not successfully installed" While trying to fastboot.
I'm attempting to flash the Color OS recovery.
Normally when the device is on I can plug it in and access the files within the phone on the internal memory / SD card.
The problem arises when I put the phone into fastboot mode and then plug the phone in I get a unsuccessfully installation method.
Whats up?
I assume I need to install a certain type of driver but i'm not sure which one. Any pointers would be really usefull.
