Not sure why I tried this, but I was polishing the Alfa in the sun & and thought mmm the paint work is very smooth and noticed it resisted my grubby finger prints.
So I thought I’ll wipe my phone screen with the rag which was a microfiber non scratch cloth and low and behold it was like the Teflon coated Iphone.
Start with a clean screen of course.
Get a clean microfiber cloth, ad a glob of Auto Glym Super Resin Polish cream to the cloth and work into the cloth so when you wipe and polish the screen its not to wet.
Let it dry to white film and polish off.
Let me know if any of you guys try this and your results.
CHECK IT OUT IT'S AMAZING!!!!
Apply 2 coats to make sure you get full effect, not too thin either.
Tempted but rather wait for some more feedback. I guess it doesn't scratch the screen or degrade the quality in anyway? How about anti glare?

It improves the screen as no dirt or finger marks build up.
No issues with this application.

No issues with this application. Just an amazingly clean slick screen....aka teflon coated iPhone 3gs, but better.
Maybe worth applying it to a screen protector to see if it produces the same results?
This sounds like an awesome idea

this is either incredibly good as an idea or a total hoax. any evidence?
Screen protectors are not going to be a good test. Being an uneven surface, unlike your screen.
At the end of the day your phone has a non pouurious surface.
Car paint does have a pouurious surface and you can remove auto glym.
You are trying to coat your screen with a liquid polymer gloss to help repel dirt. that's all, you can wash it off with washing up liquid. But I reconcile soap is more dangerous than a liquid polymer on glass surfaces.
Rod
Will pick some up tomorrow but will be applying it to a cheap screen protector 1st. Will report back tomorrow pm.
ive got a bottle of this in the cupboard. tempted to give it a go but must admit im a little cautious. does it get in the ridge around the edge of the screen? i can imagine it'd be impossible to buff out of there!
No its fine, use a micro fibre cloth to buff off then you get into the small area and apply with your finger using small circular motion as you would buffing it on the car, keep doing it for about 3-- 5mins until it get nice and thick and stops beading on the surface, then let it dry, as it takes a while to go off on the glass surface, indoors.
The crazy thing is if a finger print does transfer to the screen you can use your other finger to wipe it away, as its got a very low friction surface now.
has anyone else confirmed this yet? I managed to get a near empty bottle, sooo tempted! my greasy finger prints are annoying me!

I only see my finger prints when the screen is off! They disappear when it is on so it doesn't matter.
I will not risk damaging the original protection of the screen.
You are all aware that SRP is a very fine polish....polishes by their very nature use very small particles to scrub surfaces down to a smooth finish. In SRP's case it is very small particles but they still scrub. Been using it for years on my cars and its very good at leaving a very smooth surface - it does this by scrubbing away any debris and smoothing out scuffs and scratches.
Car paint is softer then galss but in the long run it may still damage your screen. If you really want to use car cleaning products on your screens then just wipe it normally then add a layer of sealant or wax. Will leave the coating that does exactly as you want but without any of the polishing.
On the odd occasion I actually use the desire as a phone. Is this stuff gonna interfere with my facial moisturiser?
AGRP is a mild abrasive. USE IT AT YOUR PERIL.....
Exactly, as others are saying, car polishes are abrasive. I can imagine it might work, but personally I wouldn't let it anywhere near my Desire's screen.
Sorry to revive such an old thread but I just used some Autoglym Glass Polish on my Xoom, Defy and Galaxy Nexus and it works a treat! Designed to clean car windows, there's no way it will bother fortified glass one bit. It keeps my screens fingerprint free for longer and makes it a breeze to wipe off smudges.

Dude, I'm pretty sure there is already a thread on this a few posts below... personally, I find eBay has the cheapest, and as long as you're careful in your application, they work great. I got one that reduces glare and doesn't collect fingerprints like the screen used to. They also have privacy screens, mirror screens, and more. Just depends on how much you pay. If you really have to have a perfect application of the screen and have the money, then get a screen protector at one of those little mall kiosks, where they are usually more than happy to put it on for you, the right way. It just tends to cost more than buying online.

You've got to make sure that your screen is absolutely clean and dustless. If there's dust, a bubble will form around the dust particle and no amount of pushing will get rid of the bubble. I use a lint free wipe (the kind sold for cleaning glasses or computer screens) as well as a piece of microfiber cloth to dry the screen off. Then I blow the screen clean with canned air. I make sure my hands are washed and I don't touch the screen protector directly. I find that even if I hold the screen protector by the edge only, I'll leave at least one speck of dust. Instead, I put a piece of scotch tape on the upper surface of the screen protector and use that as a handle to manipulate the protector while I install it.
I've also had luck carefully lifting off the protector with scotch tape and then sticking the corner of a lint free wipe in, sandwiched between the screen and the protector, to pull out that one last dust particle.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Thanks guys.
I've ruined two so far. Haha.
Got dust all over the adhesive side.
They are probably unsalvageable now aren't they?
You can save them...use clear packing tape and secure it to a table sticky side up.
Take your screen protector that has the dust (the side that sticks to the screen) face down on the sticky take. Keep a hold of the screen protector by using scotch tape or similar...push down and just pull up...and repeat until the protector is clean and reapply to your phone.

Thats a great idea! Will this also remove finger prints?
I made the mistake of grabbing the sticky side out of frustration and put a nice smudge on it.
Yes it sure will. It will totally clean it off. The only thing that method can't fix are creases or bends.
This way, it'll save you from having to buy more screen protectors since those are still pretty new.

really doesn't matter what type of screen protector it is... I've always found that, Glass Cleaner, blow dryer, and a credit card always work best. Make sure your screen is clean, hold your phone about half of an arms length away, spray the cleaner so there's a light mist of it on the phones screen. Place the screen protector, and the cleaner should give you a bit of play before it's set, get where you want it, use the credit card to remove any air bubbles, and the blow dryer will help dry what little cleaner is left behind the screen protector... Hope this helps

I've had my Realook on late November. It's still in excellent condition. I occasionally use scotch tape on one corner to lift it up and remove what little dust collects around the edges.
Another trick I know of is to apply the SP in the bathroom after running the shower on hot for a few minutes. It gets a lot of moisture in the air and causes dust to settle for a bit. Combine that with an impeccably clean screen, careful application (with latex or nitrile gloves if you got some), and a good squeegee and you'll be tip-top.
best out there

For those of you with the realook protector, are you having any problems with the proximity sensor on the phone? There's reviews on amazon stating that the realook covers the entire front face of the phone (including the little proximity sensor in the top left). Apparently, this makes it impossible for the phone to tell when it's up to your ear during calls, and subsequently the screen stays dark no matter what you do. Can anyone else confirm this issue, and does your realook screen protector cover just the rectangular lcd screen, or the entire front glass face of the phone?

I have no cut out for the sensors and it covers the entire glass. I've never had problems with the proximity sensor.
However, I do remember reading that they changed their template and that the newer version isn't as good. Might want to look into that before buying.
yeah with ZAGG, you pay a premium, but it also contains the pieces to cover the back and sides of the phone. This + the tmobile clear hard shell case is quite the combo to a protected phone

For all the people that have bubbles/ lint /dirt / fingerprints behind their screen protector from a fumble or rushed / botched install. here is your salvation!
It is a little known fact that *most* of the screen protectors are completely washable. The "sticky" side wont wash off or smear or in any way ruin.
1. Peel it off
2. Run under water and use your hand to remove lint, dirt specs, smudges ect.
3. Hold by the corner tightly (little as possible) with an absorbant towel and shake vigorously in front of a fan or air purifier (better) until completly dry.
NOTE. Slowly air drying will leave water spots from impurities in the water. Purified water may solve this problem.
4. clean screen
5. reapply protector CAREFULLY THIS TIME!!!
6. and, repeat if necessary for perfect clean lay.
there is nothing i find more annoying than a bubbled screen. i got a perfect lay on my third attempt. first got botched by an incomming call, then got lint in there.. you know, life..
hope this helps some people. spread the word.
I know the feeling, I live in a dusty old house, and it is almost impossible to get a protector on there without some mote of dust landing.
But thanks for the tip

thats a good idea too.
Heh, nice tips, had this issue when i owned an iPhone 3Gs.
Some other tips that work for me.
Instead of water, get an alcohol screen cleaner wipe as it will clean and dry quickly.
If you are in a dusty environment, go into the bathroom and run the shower on hot to create alot of steam, this will remove most of the dust from the air.
Will definitely have to try this when I get home. Thanks!

Anyone is using Exim screen protector on I9100? Is it perfect fit? Is it a fingerprint magnet? Can anyone share some photo after having it on?
No one using Exim screen protector???
I an using the exim screen protectors. Got them off ebay, shipped from HK. It took 2+ weeks to get them.
I would consider them a perfect fit. They are a tad undersized, but I prefer that; it makes for an easier install.
Exim quality, very scratch resistant, but average when it comes to finger prints. They wipe off easily.
I will take a picture later on and post it.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. How do you rate the installation process. Is it tough to install? How about the process of getting the bubble out? Is there any bubble after the installation? It would be great if you could post so picture. Well I feel that as long as fingerprint and oil stain is easily wipe of, this is consider good.
I found installation to be easy, as it's undersized a tad. If you have ever put screen protectors on, this one is no different. peel off a little of the top while folding down the protective layer and line up the top portion. once you have the top lined up and stuck on pull the rest of the films cover off and let it lay down.
If you didn't get the alignment right, get some clear magic tape, apply a little section to the bottom of the screen protector, lift up while holding the top of the protector in place with your thumb and pivot in place.
If you get any dust in between the protector and screen, apply some tape near the area, lift up and with your other hand stick a piece of fresh tape under the screen protector to grab the dust.
On another note, if you have ever applied a invisible skin like zagg, bodyguardz, or skinomi: you can use the same technique of spraying the protector aligning in place and pushing the fluid out with a squeegee.
I'll look for a good video to show what I'm talking about and post it below.

How is the quality?
It is pretty good and very clear. Fingerprints are easy to wipe off which is good as it does accumulate them easily. The only thing I don't like about it is the cut. It is as per the picture where the home key is cut to the button and the speaker/camera cut to the top.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Been using the EXiM SPUC protectors on all of my phones since my TouchPro and have found them to be very clear but they are prone to fingerprints. I'd personally prefer fingerprints rather than permanent scratches.
On this phone they fit fairly well. The cut outs are well placed and don't obstruct any of the sensors at the top, but they are a little small around the edges (good if you use one of those TPU style cases because the case will be less likely to push on the edges of the protector).
Not much else I can comment on. They fit, they are clear and they are cheap while remaining high quality.
Hi PeteRyde & zehro,
Thanks for the review on the screen protector. I do agree the cutting is not as great as the rest. But most importantly, it is hard enough to resist scratch and is clear. Further to that, the pricing is pretty competitive.

Experiment over. Costly, and I wish I never indulged in it.
Disclaimer: The Exim SPUC would likely be pretty good if the installation went more perfectly than Mary's inception of Jesus H Christ. It felt very smooth, did not scratch or oil at the slightest touch and was extremely clear picture quality wise.
One thing that's wrong with it is that some air bubbles dont' come out, they don't even move, they stay there and become a splodge.
What you really need is about 10 of these in a pack, because if they don't install more perfectly than the inception of Jesus H Christ on your first try, you need to bin them and move on.
Basically my 1st try ended up with lots of air bubbles and some dust/lint underneath beacuse i initially got the positioning wrong, so i lifted it up to realign it, getting more dust in the process.
So I move onto my 2nd try with the second protector in the pack. This time, I get alignment correctly first time. Unfortunately there were still air bubbles and there was a speck of dust where the screen was. The airbubbles wouldn't come out and ended up in sploges, trying to remove that speck of dust ended in more dust on the screen.
So now both protectors were boned. Then I decided to test Exim on it's word that it's protectors are washable, so I blast the silicon side under my tap to get rid of all dust. It did get rid of all dust/lint.
So I try reapplying it wet with just tap water, well it does apply, but the water won't come out properly and leaves skidmarks underneath, even with a squidgee (I have a spare Zagg Invisible shield one).
No good, so I wash it under tap again, then I first of all dry and clean my phone screen with microfibre cloth, then blast it with an air compressor to blast out and dry any escaped water in the bit where the screen joins the side, because I didn't want moisture into phone electronics.
This time I try an "proper" wet solution, I actually have a bottle of that Zagg Invisible shield spray, so I use that and try to reapply the Exim SPUC. It works better than water, but I was becoming increasingly frazzled and another bit of dust got underneath the screen, so I decided to blast screen with air compressor, big mistake, solution streak everywhere. So I take off the Exim protector to wipe excess liquid
I then found the Invisible Shield spray is utterly crap and the whole Zagg thing is just a rip off because the spray solution made a film on my screen, like it was obviously. The I madly scrub with microfibre cloth to get rid of it, thank **** it went.
In a moment of despair, I touch my SGS2 screen with my bare fingers, it was wrong, but felt so right. Like grabbing the fine ass of a lapdancer, something that you're suppposed to look, but not touch.
Then having totally wrecked my new Exim Screen Protectors which costed me $11 or £8. I go back to the 10 pack £1.99 protectors I got of eBay, they're cheap and slutty like the whore of Babylon, but at least they're readily disposable.
I tried and fail to apply 3 more cheap screen pretectors because of dust/link/air bubbles, bin them all and on 4th go, succeed. Experiment over.

What an experience you have. I guess it is due to the area you are in when applying the screen protector. It seems to me dust is all around you which is causing all this agony. You can try the suggestion as listed here. Look at post 1, 2, this and this video for the soap method. You may want to contact Exim and check if you can get a replacement. Anyway how many Exim protector you get in the order?
I thought I'd just do a poll, this really could apply to any phone so I put this poll in a popular phone forum section. I remember for my SGS2, it took 7 tries (ie 7 protectors) to get one on perfectly, ie no dust no bubbles whatsoever. That equated to a total wastage of $30+ before finally nailing one.
Just got a new phone (Note 2), bought the Steinheil Ultra Crystal. 1st one in the pack, about 10 pieces of dust. 2nd one in the pack, 3 pieces of dust. Total wastage, $18. FML
I have found if it's not on perfect 1st time, lifting it up to dab away dust with scotch tape introduces more dust.

What I find helpful is place the phone on a newspaper. Do not use cloth because it would only create cloth particles and sticking them onto your phone as your breath when applying the screen. In addition, wipe off the screen with a clean cloth dampened with a little ethyl alcohol. Allow the screen to dry and then use another cloth (the ones that come with your screen protectors) to wipe off. Make sure you do this under as much lighting as possible. Once you don't see any specs of dust on the screen start lining up the screen protector from one end of the phone so you know exactly how the screen looks on the phone. The final steps involve peeling off the cover and laying it on the screen. Do this slowly. Press down on the screen as you peeling off the cover. I would not peel off the screen and then stick it onto the phone. This will most likely increase your chance of getting minute dust particles sticking on the screen. Always check for dust on the screen as you go. If you see any, stop right away and blow it off and reapply. This method does not completely prevent the dust particles from sticking onto the screen protector but it will minimize it.
One. I clean the phone with my shirt and water. Clean it with the microfiber cloth. Peel about 1/8 inch off the screen protector, apply to phone slowly while removing film and use the card provided in screen protector box to flatten it our with bubbles. Any bubbles and I lift slightly and re apply. Easy peezy

where I work, we have controlled rooms to avoid particulate in the materials, I tried in these rooms, and I can assure that it's better to do it in the shower (LOL)
Or you can buy one of these protectors that include an spray, it's completely safe to put on of these, even in the case you screw it up, you can remove it, and apply more spray and put the protector again.
(i will never buy a normal protector after use the ones with an spray included)
I use the hinge method, works first time most times even in a room with lots of dust.
is it really possible to do it perfectly?
that, I got to see.
I tried it so many times I even can't remember, and I never succeeded.
Anyhow I gave up

None. My gorilla glass is nearly unscratchable. Phone was dropped face down on cement and just a tiny micro scratch on the bezel.

Take it to the beach and see if you can say that again.

Wow you are so lucky your screen didnt break! hope not to come off as patronising but these things break so easy....get that thing some protection man. Mine broke on its first fall.
I've wasted so many with specs of dust ruining it I do them all after I've had a shower while still naked and hot water running and it works every time.

I don't see how a screen protector saves a screen from smashing tho. Gorilla glass is good and I find the closer they are to the lcd the better smash protection.

You guys should try out the SGP Curved Crystal... its freking amazing feels as if theres nothing on your screen.
I got my screen protector on first try...
Currently using a cheapo screen protector I bought from eBay for like a dollar.
Honestly, there's nothing to it.
Clean screen>Placement>Credit card to lightly remove air bubbles>Peel>Microfiber to remove any smaller bubbles.
Bam!
I've been using BestSkinEver for all my devices. Perfect application on first try everytime. That's probably the nature of wet application ones though.

Hinge method. Then if there's particals trapped beneath, use tape to remove them.

I always use belkin ones, every time it goes on perfect.
Here's a tip if you are getting a lot of dust under it.
Take 2 sticky tapes and place one on the corner of the screen. Lift your protector up with one piece of tape and get that dusty ***** underneath it with the other one.
Also a very good tip! If you are experiencing a lot of dust in your environment whilst placing the protector. Place the protector in the bathroom after a long shower! No kidding!
It helps to clean the apartment first - seriously-
I've been playing around with films lately, most screen protectors are crap these days. I wanted something industrial grade. Long story short, pulled off some extra clear bra from a sheet I did my car with. The results are 10 fold better. I used xpel ultimate self healing film.
https://www.xpel.com/products/xpel_ultimate_paint_protection_film.asp - the film really is self healing
Tools
Screen roller
Xpel ultimate film - order a decent size you will need extra.
Exacto knife
Very clean work area
Patience & precision!
Installation
1. Clean surface, no dust!
2. Cut film about 3 inches over the size of the actual template, you will leave fingerprints. You need that slack so you can grip it and then cut off the access where you gripped it.
3. Lay it down from top to bottom, this is the most important step. You cannot stop once you start, if you stop you will leave a crease line. You must take the roller and push the film down slowly, consistent but never stop.
4. Repeat rolling until all air bubbles are gone, there should be almost none the first time around. You do not use water with this application.
5. Trim the slack off with an exacto knife. Make sure not to cut in too hard, you don't want to cut into the phones waterproof seal on the edges.
6. Admire your work and of course do a light water test to make sure your z1 seals are good.
Pros
10 mils thick
Self healing - scratches disappear.
Very glossy
Super smooth
Fills in scratches underneath on the stock protector.
Oem look
The most durable out
Grippy on flat surfaces
Cons
Pricey
You have to be good at installing films - you really need a roller or be very consistent. You only get one shot.
You have to trim everything your self
Sounds interesting (really wanna try on my....motorcycle!) But what about fingerprints?

They do show finger prints but wipe off very easily, I find the problem is you can't have both fingerprint resistance and scratch resistance. This film is very soft and grippy. It's very durable, that said I only have it on the back. On the from I spigen Glas Tr Slim. I love both but for scratch resistance the xpel wins hands down.. the problem is that it is slightly textured as you can see. That definitely can take away from the screen clarity. That said... I have the whole back covered including the camera and no distortion of photos or ghosting of the flash.
Now fingerprints on the adhesive side is a problem, thats why I said you absolutely need slack when doing this. Once it's on though it's worth it. I scratched it this morning and just like the video, ran the phone under warm water; Good as new! I actually like the subtle textured gloss of the back. It really adds a nice touch. You can order custom sizes from xpel, not sure where but it's on their site. I sized up my headlights that way.
Basically my setup is...
Spigen Glas TR slim in the front.
Xpel Ultimate Film in the back.
Oh, doing bikes with film is a nightmare... flat surfaces are 10x easier. I'm a professional detailers but when it comes to clear bra's I let the specialists do it. Tint's and Films are some of the most tricky applications in the automotive field. Anyone who says they do it all... usually isn't good
I hope this info helps.
Thanks for all the info. Yeah I guess it would be a pain to do my bike, my tank shape is a bit complex. I don't think any shop does that where I live (Hk)
If I can find a cheap way to get it oversea I'm gonna try it on my z1 back, right now I'm using a nice textured back film protector I found in Japan...
