I am a new man in Desire, how can I increase the volume of phone ? I found the voice not clear when I pick up phone call
Besides the volume control on the left side of the phone I dont think it can go any higher.
Also, perhaps you were talking with an iphone - I noticed it always seems like their microphone is very silent, if you know what I mean

Backup and then try and hard reset your phone back to default factory settings as this could eradicate any bugs or issues with your stock ROM.
You could also read up on how to root the desire and then try flashing to a different Radio version as this could improve the reception of incoming/outgoing calls, GPS signal strength, Wi-Fi, battery life (possibly) etc.
For more information, click the links in my sig.
Note: by rooting your Desire and flashing to a different ROM/Radio version will void your warranty.

I think there have to be an app to enhance. The sound. My old Polaris was sounding way better and louder...

Now that the kernel sources are online, does somebody have a hack for increasing jack volume ?
data point: UK T-Mobile ROMs have very low max volume level. Installing the vanilla HTC ROM fixed this for me.
The only problem is that I want to keep sense UI, there is obviously something to modify on a rooted phone in order to get higher jack volume, one file with the limit written inside ?
I've heard about a volume hack but can't find any detail on it except the app with the same name on the market which cost £2.

I brought the Desire and when I play music on the player the volume is very low!!! I installed couple of volume applications but made no difference...
Thank you,
The volume is set low, but it seems that it can be increased if you are prepared to flash your phone with the generic HTC firmware rather than one from T-Mobile (or whatever your provider might be).
There is a thread already on this subject, but as a new user I can't post links to it!

If thats the case then its probably the stupid EU law on volumes on MP3 / Mobiles
Hopefully... To stop little tits on the bus listening to their crap songs and annoying people.
JAmes.
the volume on the Desire through headphones is very low - if anyone knows of an easy way to change this, hopefully without any drastic measures like reflashing away from the stock rom please share your knowledge!
for me (a desire unlocked owner) I consider the mp3 volume through speaker louder, however when I try to speak with someone and put caller voice through speaker, it is too slow.. and I can't raise anymore
The recent ROM update (1.21.110.4 for branded users, 1.21.405.2 for generic) increases the volume according to a couple of people here on the foums, so I suggest you try that.
I myself have not experienced low media volume both pre and post rooting.
Custom ROMS have the audio mod but that's mainly to improve audio clarity. Media has always been high and clear for me.
I had the same problem, but I solved it by taking a pin and putting it through each of the little holes in the ear piece part. Now my calls are at a very good volume, I guess that these had clogged up with debris from general use.
volume is ok
Is there any sound fix for the low speaker volume that does not require me to root the phone? I have only found one option that was supposed to work, but it didn't for me.
It is a telus banded desire, so is it likely that the update that is supposed to be released soon will fix this sound issue?
TIA

Same problem
I also have an un-rooted Desire and the speaker volume is too low, especially on speakerphone calls. I use Cricket Wireless and I have checked to make sure I am current on updates. I have tried numerous apps but none worked. Is there a fix for this?
Right, here’s the situation, I replaced the screen on my HTC Desire HD a few days ago and literally the first boot since there was a Wifi notification of a ROM update also, so I did it... (Orange UK Software number 3.13.61.5) anyway, since replacing the screen / updating the ROM, the Microphone has gone ridiculously quiet when making or receiving a phone call and if I open the Voice recorder, I can barely hear my recorded voice back, and the only way people can hear me when I call them is if they put it on loudspeaker and still put the phone to their ear...
Ok so initially I thought that this might be a hardware issue as I have been in the phone, however, given the fact that I can hear some playback via voice recorder, this means that the Microphone is working..?
So after a bit more investigation, I found that if I remove the bottom panel that covers the SD Card and Sim Card slots, then Voice recorder works perfectly (but my signal drops off completely so I can't test a phone call... *Are the 2 little gold contacts to do with the antenna?*) So I have come to the conclusion that it must be software? As obviously when these 2 little gold contacts make connection with the phone again, ye it enables me to make a phone call, but wrecks the microphone...
On a side note, I have checked the little Microphone hole on that bottom panel and shoved a pin through it and it’s as clean as a whistle so it can't be a blockage of any sort...
So something is happening when the bottom panel is on the phone, those 2 gold contacts tell the phone to do something? Provide an antenna for it but in doing so almost muting the microphone at the same time..?
Any ideas on how I can fix this or where shall I start? Could this still be a hardware issue? Shall I strip the phone down again and pay special attention to a specific part? :S
Please Help!?
Thanks in advance!
Adam.
which rom are you using? if that's a stock rom, it is highly recommended that you try one of the custom ones from development section (sense 3.5 roms)
Yes, its a stock ROM that was pushed OTA... It's a friends phone, I have a HD2 so I'm very familiar with flashing roms etc... but I'm going through the custom roms section and I can't seem to be able to find a good guide as a starting point..? I see a lot about Downgrading? and S-Off..? (Does that mean Signature Off?)
Thanks very much for the reply though!
Ok... I've flashed a custom ROM now, and a different radio '[ROM] Android Revolution HD 7.0.3 | High Quality & Performance | O/C | Legendary' is the rom I used...
Exactly the same... It's as if the microphone level is right down when the phone has signal/network as if I shout the voice recorder picks stuff up then...
Is there an App I can use to tweak the gain or something on the Mic levels?
I've had the phone in bits again and cleaned out everywhere, theres no dust build up or anything of the sort so I'm sure its not hardware related... but then if the ROM is completely different then it can't be software either can it..? :S
Cheers, Adam.

I'm no expert on electricity and all that but can it be possible that the power input onto the mic is being too low so that it is not functioning properly due to a newer screen sucking up a higher power? but then you mentioned that by removing those plates, it works fine...
I couldn't come across a fix as it seems that not many people had this problem so it seems that it is more of a hardware problem but i'll post asap i find something
EDIT: maybe this
Thanks for the reply! I can't understand what it could be... I have figured out though that if I hold the phone horizontally in front of my mouth and talk then it works... so I'm completely stumped as to what it could be...
Is there no way I can edit some sensitivity figure somewhere? :S
Cheers, Adam.

Hi All
I have had the same issue with no mic imput when calling someone on a HTC Desire 500 phone.
My problem started when I paired a plantronics bluetooth hands free device to my phone and started to use it.
While using the PK100 device all was perfect and no issues, but when I turned off the hands free device I now have the same issue no one can her me through the phone mic, no sound at all. I believe this issue is both software and hardware the software needs to switch the hardware (mic) on and off
It is as if the mic has been switched off by the (PK100) bluetooth hands free but the software on the phone is not re-enabling the phone mic so now I am in a situation where i can only use my phone via a diferent mic headphones or PK100 hands free.
I can also add that while in a call I have the option to switch from the hands free on the phone, or to use the phone or to use the PK100 from an in call option all works ok but the mic on the phone will not reactivate. this seems to be an issue with the software not activating the mic.
If anyone has any idea I would like to here...
in call volume too low how to increase ??
+1
I find it's too low as well. Even on highest volume I've frequently got trouble hearing what ppl are saying... Especially in noisy environments such as on public transport! I'm on InsertCoin 6.1.
I have not yet found an app to boost the volume.
I must use a headset to talk if I want to hear anyone while in a public or noisy place.

i have to have my in call volume on 50% or its too loud, 100% is just a bit quieter than loud speaker.

Maybe that's because of your use of DSP Manager. My ear piece is very weak. It's like listening through a train engineer's wool sock soaked in kerosene and hog fat.

There is no app available that can boost the in-call volume.
I believe the only way that an in-call volume modification can be achieved is by making the necessary changes in the source and building your own kernel. I seem to remember this was done on the Nexus One a while back.
I have my in call volume set at 25% while not in crowded places. While clubbing i use cca 50%, anything more hurts me xD
BTW, thats on stock, 1.29, not rooted, no DSP
My HOX is loud enaugh.
But I faced the same issue when I had the Sensation. Two solutions existed:
1) Non-Rooted, use Volume+, Volume Boost, Louder Volume Hack or Equalizer
2) Rooted, use this guide.

Unfortunately, the apps you listed do not work for increasing the in call volume, apart from Louder Volume Hack but it's very outdated and won't work on the One X (I made it for the original T-Mobile G1 and Google removed the files that it changed when they released the Nexus One).
As it stands, there's no app available that can boost the in call volume, not to my knowledge anyway.

is there any solution for this?
having the same problem too
I have the exact same problem, and it appeared after I rooted and started flashing ROMs, wasn't the case with the stock ROM.
Currently using LeeDroid
Me too...
Thank god i've found more people with this "feature". I've noticed that after flashing LeeDroid 6.4.0. Never noticed that before rooting.
Yeah call volume does suck

Having the exact same issue and me too using leedroid 6.4.0
I can't remember weather it was like this before I flashed this rom.
WTF? My in call volume is way too loud. I have to keep the one X 2-3 cm away from my ear sometimes

I think this is more popular issue than we think. I got that problem too on ARHD 7.1.0, hope its only software problem not hardware.
Sometimes sound incall is very good, clear, loud, but mostly its sux, especially when there is more sounds around (streets etc).
Nope..its too loud for me..so I have kept it on half..I am on ARHD 7.1 ..

Hello all.I asked on this forum about this but mayby this thread can solve my problem.
I have HTC One V,very nice phone, already I rooted and flashed with latest Paranoid Android rom and its now the best phone I ever had
But only one thing need to be fixed for me.The in call volume is to quite for me,I have set on maximum but for me is not enough,I tried also with mysense rom,and on orginal rom was the same.
I have also in my home HTC Desire C and old Samsung Wave and there in call volume is about triple times louder then on HTC One V.
I tried many apps from google store for increasing the volume but all of them only working with media-ringtone speaker,no with headset call speaker
I really need the tip how to increase this in call volume on other way, couse now all on maximum but I still have a strugling when talking on the street or in the canteen in my work.Only this one think I need to make my HOV a perfect phone.
Please give a tip,mayby other rom,or somethnig.Best regards.

Tried this and nothing change.I bought a app volume+ but its not working on jelly bean.
This is a big bug on Htc One V-I readed few tests on internet and many times testers said the call volume is to low.
On ebay we can buy call speaker for htc one v for few GBP but if I replace this speaker is this will fix problem?
I also tried clean the holes by toothbrush-found this tip on this forum when people had the same problem with HOX,but its nothing change,I have this phone about 2 months and this issue is from new.
Is it really necessary ??

I tried to found the service code for HTC One ...and found few,but tried onyl 2 of them.
This one *#*#3424#*#* and is for HTC function test Program and working fine,I can test some things and audio as well also for call speaker and working but I only can test these things.
This code *#*#197328640#*#* = service mode is not working but I can believe if we will know the correst mode we will be able to set some things like audio as well.I remember when I had few years ago sonyericsson phone I was able to change some things which was not posiible on normal mobile settings, and I think on samsung android phone is this possible as well(readed on his forum).
Did anybody know service mode code for HTC Ones phones?
im on the same tree... this HTC One V is a HUGE disappointment so far. It is my dedicated phone and i can hardly hear ppl in my ear piece...im forced to use the crappy speaker....this will be the last HTC i buy

I Used that app. Results are satisfactory regarding In-Call volume. NO ROOT ACCESS required for this app. It has an added feature of AUTOMATIC LOUD SPEAKER. Just take the phone away from your ears a bit & it will automatically switch to the loudspeaker. That feature reminds me of my HTC TP2 WM6.5
