HTC Desire accepts 32 Gb ? - Desire General

I´m new on this forum and need a information.
HTC Desire accepts 32 Gb ? I´ve read on some sites that it only accepts 16 Gb.
Thanks !

Yes the Desire supports 32GB Micro SDHC cards - though haven't got one myself.
A quick search on the HTC Website would have told you that!

a quick search would tell you that, however for my case I have an HTC incredible which the website says it supports 32gb. Verizon's website says only 16. I have a 32gb mini sd card and the HTC Incredible DOESNT support it even though its website says it does.

There are different types of MicroSDHC cards, i'm not sure which class or category is appropriate for the HTC Desire.
Hope that saves you from purchasing the wrong one when it comes out.
I think that the 32GB MicroSD from SANDisk will be ok, but it'd be nice to get a confirmation on that or a link...

Search and ye shall find.

4GB MicroSDHC with HTC Touch ?

Can the HTC Touch take 4GB MicroSDHC cards?
i heard that the newer ppc's should support it. I hope im right
anyone else know anything about this?
The specifications for the HTC Touch says it supports the standard "SD 2.0". This standard includes SDHC (Cards from 4-32gb), and have seen a few users say they are using a 4gb card in their touch (search will reveal who).
Here (DK) the only 4gb MicroSDHC card available is Class 2, so I wont be going for the 4gb (or 8gb for that matter) card until I can get atleast Class 4, preferably Class 6.
You can read more about SDHC in general on wikipedia.
Hi,i'm actually using 4gb microsd HC from SanDisk.
Everything work perfect without any problem.
Mine Touch have Italian software but i don't think different language firmware could have limitations about memory size....i hope
Bye.

you said that you have a 4Gb Card.
were did you buy it?
Tanks
Hi,from ebay the object number is :160135130187 but maybe now you'll find more than this model cause the demand is growning......and maybe the price will be lower.
8 gb sdhc actually used in a touch, anybody ?
has anybody actually used an 8 gb micro sdhc card in a touch yet?
i know there was some discussion about the availability of this size card, and that it was available for quite a few pounds(dollars for me), and i believe someone had purchased it, but never really heard of the results.
if someone has please post, and please let us know where it was purchased and for how much. also, if outside us whether you know if it can be delivered to the usa.
thanks in advance

Did you test the card? E.g. fill it up to over 2gb, like 2.5gb and then see if the phone writes on it etc. 'Cause the picture on Ebay appears different from the one that Verizon carries which should be the real one.
It is good that it works on the Touch, since I just ordered a Touch. I've tested my card, it works flawlessly on the TyTN and I filled it up to test.
Test done
Just end the fill up test on SDHC 4 gb,no problem it works
I've made some copy of 98mb files and also 2 copy of tomtom map file (about 518mb) now memory info report just 84.03 mb free and 3794.47 used of 3878.50 total space on microSd card.
Thank to Doni for suggest me the test.
Pls guys forgive my poor english.

how significant is class 2 and class 6 micro sdhc cards? compared to the standard 50x micro sd cards.
the class 6 micro sd sdhc doesnt come cheap but the class 2 and class 4 seems reasonable..
I got the 4GB Sandisk card today and it works well.

That's a SD not a SDHC card. It will still work though.
You can get the 4Gb SDHC card on eBay for £32 and you also get a Micro SD to SD Card Adapter and a SDHC USB Card reader in with the price

The fact that its 4GB means it has to be SDHC... The HC stands for High Capacity
maybe not.
there is a 4gb sd and 4gb sdhc.
have just got a 4GB SDHC Micro Sd card from Amazon including an sd to micro adapter and a sandisk micromate (adapter type thing not used yet) for £24.95 + p+p in total came to less than £30.
Works fine for me so far despite HTC telling me they only support 2 GB cards, mine is an MDA touch from Tmonile but I dont think that will make much difference.

No he's right. On research I find SD only goes up to 2Gb. The SDHC uses FAT32 file system to be able allow higher capacities. 8Gb card coming out next year.
Anyway, for me extra 2 squids I got a couple of adaptors.

Memory card shipping with Desire

Hi folks,
Does anyone have any idea of the memory card shipping with the Desire?
I've pre-ordered a Desire from Clove but it occurred to me the other day that there seems to be no information anywhere about what, if any, MicroSD card will be shipped with the phone. My current Touch HD shipped with an 8GB card and my wife's Hero came with a 2GB card, but what about the Desire?
I fired off emails to HTC and Clove a couple of days ago. To date Clove have not responded and HTC said that that decision would be left to the importer and retailer.
So right now I've no info and don't know whether I need to order a card separately in readiness for the arrival of my new beasty.
Hi Folks
I've heard from Clove now - should have known they wouldn't let me down ...they were waiting to hear from their suppliers. Their Desires will ship with a 4GB card.
Legend comes with 2GB, my guesses for the Desire will be 4GB.
Wish they would start chucking 8gig cards in. I have a 8gig spare but would be nice if they came with one. Don't cost much nowadays. Like you said though you can always rely on Clove.. I wont go anywhere else even if other places are 20-30 quid cheaper.
It's not the most trustworthy source but Wikipedia has it listed as having a 8gb card.
Hi HTC's website shows it comes with a 8gb micro sd
It shows a picture of a 8GB micro-sd card. It doesn't say it is supplied with one
The following feature list is from Clove
Features of HTC Desire
* Google Android 2.1 with HTC Sense interface
* 1GHz Processor
* 3.7 inch AMOLED display for better quality image resolution whilst using less power
* HSDPA wireless connectivity
* Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR
* WiFi 802.11b/g
* Internal GPS antenna
* Optical, clickable trackball
* Less than 12mm thick
* 135g in weight
* 1400mAh battery
* MicroUSB connectivity
* 3.5mm audio jack
* MicroSDHC memory card slot (with 4GB MicroSDHC card included)
* HTC Friend Stream

That wasn't there a couple of days ago so I guess they added it as a result of my (and others?) question.
T-Mobile got the Desire also with 4GB listed.

So I think 4GB it is!
Alot of ppl have gotten their handsets now, so what is the answer to this topic?
I got my handset Saturday morning and it ships with a 4gb card.
Yup, I second chris.semple.
My Desire from T-Mobile came with a 4GB card pre-installed.
Standard T-Mo ships with a 4GB Sandisk Class *2* card - not the fastest thing in a memory slot so would suggest spending a few bob on an 8GB Class 6 (~£15) - makes a lot of difference when copying vids etc from PC to Desire.
From Slashgear review:
The Desire has 512MB of ROM and 576MB of RAM, and takes up to 32GB microSDs; there’ll be an 8GB card in the retail box.

Hoping 8GB is right, and that's what I've read the HTC people telling review-sites around the time it was launched too.
Size of the SD card is down to the retailer/network, this has been said multiple times.
What is the maximum memory these phones can take?
32 Gb if you can find one

I believe it's 32GB
Ahh pipped to the post by the chap above! Sandisk have recently just announced a 32GB card a few days ago with a retail price of approx $200
So that means they'll be quite expensive here as well!!
Mine has also arrived with a 4Gb card installed.

Desire GSM (Bravo) and SDXC (SD 3.0) and UHS-I support

Does the Desire GSM (Bravo) support SDXC? The guess it won't be in the official specifications but is it possible to use a microSDXC card with CM7.1 or MIUI and so on? Same question on UHS-I!
Thank you!
No, it won't at least I read some posts, that it won't recognize the whole SD card only up to 32GB.
Same goes for the UHS-I, but I only know that Senasation supports it, not sure about the Desire.
Are you telling me, if I buy some UHS-I 64gb SDXD micoSD the Desire will recognize it as a 32gb microSD? It will pobably be fast as hell (like a class10) but not as fast like a real UHS-I supported phone.

I don't think that will work. Is it SDHC? I have a 32 GB class 10 and I had to do a full format on my PC to get it to work with Android.
Didn't know there are 64gb microSD cards already...Still looking for 32gb with 17mb/sec write...$50 at NewEgg, but it lasts like couple of days before sold out..
The AT&T store told me 64G cards won't work. That's too bad. I'd like to get at least a 32G eventually.
Can one buy any 32G microSD card? I don't need anything fancy, it just needs to work.

I remember 4-5 years ago when 16gb just came out, many phones didn't support them, yet they worked together ok, it's just manufactures didn't test it, that's all...maybe it's same case here, unless it's not SDHC anymore.

Yes you can, but you might want to check compatibility for 32 GB cards. I know there is an issue with 32 GB class 10 cards. You have to do a full format on them in order for Android to see them.

I am pretty sure the 64 GB micro SD cards are not SDHC. Atleast I haven't see one that was.
64gb micro sd cards are SDXC. They've been proven to work on SGS2, Sensation, Droid Razr, Asus Transformer tab, even on a Nook and SGS1.
64gb cards are supported, just not officially.
As I understand it, there's no difference mechanically between SDHC and SDXC. The main difference is the file system they use, so the OS just needs to be compatible with the new file system and it should work. As the post above notes, android is already proven compatible but until someone tries one in a Nitro it's tough to say that it'll work for sure.
The other difference between SDHC and SDXC is support for speeds higher than class 10, which an SDHC host wouldn't be able to take advantage of.
I've seen a thread on here where someone used a 64gb card in the Nitro with success. It may have been the thread titled "Crappy SD card..."?

LOL! Great title ain't it? Sticks in the head for a while Here you go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417920
unfortunately, no one has yet to try the 64gb SDXC card just yet, most likely due to the astronomical price range. Below is one from amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobil...WIA2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327458819&sr=8-1
Just posting to confirm that the 64gb SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDXC Class 6 (that I ordered from Amazon here for $55.00) works perfectly in the Nitro! Just pop it into the phone to format it. The phone will initially say it's damaged, let the phone format it, and then you're good to go! (I'd read that for other android phones, trying to format this card on the pc and then using it on the phone doesn't work that well, so I went straight for the phone formatting method). It shows 59.46 GB of space usable. I've filled it all up to test it, and it seems to work just fine! It's only class 6, so I only get about 6 to 8 MB/s write speeds, but I think that's plenty fast for the phone. There is also a class 10 version of this card for 25 bucks more on Amazon, but, for me, it didn't warrant the extra cost. Just letting you guys know in case you're digital hoarders like me! =)
I just got SanDisk Ultra 64GB class 10 micro SDXC .. it worked like charm.
first it says memory card error and need to format... just format and mount it ... it shows 60GB available space ... :laugh:
HIT thanks if that helps !!

64 gig micro SD cards and cell phone compatability

I'm a droid x user and I'm starting to run out of room on my 32 gig micro SD card bc I have a ton of music, I take lots if pics, and I take tons of videos. I have an upgrade soon and I was interested in the HTC Rezound, but I noticed it still only supports a 32 gig micro SD. Are there any phones out there that currently support 64 gig micro SD cards that I could upgrade to instead?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA
there are some devices that support 64gb sdxc. if you check the atrix section you will find. in theory all android should support it if one of them supports it.
seen confirmation on another site wont post the link as i am not sure as too the rules on this but they said this last september
"They might not be cheap coming in around $219 for now, the SanDisk Micro SDXC cards offer a huge storage limit of 64GB all in the size of a fingernail. After we ran the news of the new cards we quickly learned that many smartphones including the Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC Sensation 4G, ASUS Transformer tablet and more all work with 64GB MicroSDXC cards. There are also reports that they are working on many older devices for those wondering. Some include the EVO 4G, original Galaxy S, and even the HTC Desire Z (aka T-Mobile G2). With both old and new, smartphones and tablets being able to take advantage of the 64GB SD cards this is a good sign many more will have the same fate. We can only assume manufacturers didn’t state SDXC support because none were out on the market at time of launch, or maybe there are other reasons yet unknown."
quite a while ago, they also posted a screenshot
a 64gb sdxc costs around $100, last time i checked.
its arround $100 to $150
