Tmo TP 2 is slowing d..o..w..n...

Over the last week or so my tp2 has been slowing down. Operations that had been snappy when I first bought it are becoming lethargic. I had installed 3 new programs in that time, and have since uninstalled all of them(trying to resolve this). But the problem is still there.
Any thoughts?

Even though you uninstalled the programs, whatever changes they made may still be in effect. You might have to consider a hard reset, and then test by adding each program one at a time and checking if you notice any slowdown. If you don't, then you know that program is not the culprit. If you do, then you've found your cause. Good luck!

About a week ago I installed 3 new pieces of software. After a few days I noticed that my phone has been feeling laggy. So 1 by1 I unistalled the software... still the problem persists.
Reading your post made me think... hmm about a week ago I also installed a 4 gb memory card! The card works fine, I can access it, and store stuff on it.
Also, come to think of it. I was making panoramic photos last night and my phone kept freezing after the 2nd photos. And would crash- resetting itself. I had the phone set to save images to the card. Setting it to save them to the phone it stopped crashing... maybe my memory card is too slow. Perhaps, there is a setting in the phone which affects the through put from the phone to the card that can be tweaked. I seam to remember see settings for power saving features for the micro sd card.. Could this be the culprit?
So what does everyone think? I am taking out the card and soft resetting the phone to see what happens.
As for changes made to the system, one of the programs was the Advanced Configuration Tool. So yes, some changes were made. But I thought I returned everything to what I had. I only made a couple of tweaks with it...

70-80% of Incoming Calls Freeze Phone

I'm running stock ROM on VZW... Almost every call I get causes the phone to freeze, sending the call to voicemail. It is so frustrating that I can do everything with my phone, except receive calls! I have slide to unlock, and thought the slide to answer was causing the problem... so I disabled it. Still having problems. Any suggestions?

Back it up and hard reset, see if that fixes it.. If so, you have some bad software.

I had the same problem with my Tilt2. I have tried six different roms. The same problem. I download a program called Gaz TD2 Tools. I used that to disable the default dialer. Since then I don't have that problem. I have a ugly phone pad but I can answer a call. seventeen missed calls in one day was enough.

Storage Card Issue Perhaps
Assuming a Hard Reset doesn't fix this, I have another suggestion. Back everything up as previously suggested. If you have a Storage Card in the phone, pull it out and re-boot. If you've installe dprograms to the card you'll get some error messages - don't worry, they will disappear if the card is good and you decie to put it back in again.
I've had several cards become subtly corrupted over the years of using WinMo Phones. They can often cause this kind of maddening problems with no apparent solution.
If the card is bad, try to copy off all the files onto your computer. Then re-format it. Do this in the phone if it can (don't know about the Rhodium on this) or on your computer using an adapter. Then put back the data files and CAB files for the software you want to install again. Put it back in your phone and boot. If everythig's now ok, go ahead an dinstall the CABs.
If the Card is still wonky after re-formatiing, try going to the Manufacturer's website for help. I had a 16 Mb Sandisk microSD fail in my Fuze and after a couple of emails suggesting I thry to diagnose the card using varioous utilities, Sandisk concluded it was faulty, sent me a new one and a pre-paid return mailer. No problems after that. You can't beat that kind of service.

I had similar problem like yours. I've just taken sdcard out and now it seems phone is not freezing. Sdcard was previously used in Nokia phone for a while. Suppose it's not new type, that's why phone was freezing, i presume. Hope i will not have such problem again, because it ****ing irritating...

I have also had this problem when I swap cards from one phone to another. even contemporanious phones from the same manufacturer. It's o tempting to do it, but I've come to think it's better to copy everything off of the card, reformat it, then load things back up. might just be coincidence, but it does seem to produce less problems.

Now it resetted itself again when the battery level was %94. There is no sdcard inside. Let's see what's gonna happen... ****!

Installed this update yesterday from HTC. Phone seems to be working better, even with S2U2 options enabled... I'll report back with any lock-ups if they happen.

Which update?

Camera crashed. Lost everything.

I'm so mad right now.
My camera app crashed even after several reboots forcing a Hard reset.
I lost all my data and the camera app still crashes.
I can't describe how mad I am.
I press the camera button and it shows for a sec. It then immediately returns to the home screen.
I'm gonna contact Microsoft first thing in the morning.
I might lose a job because of this.
The hard reset didn't fix anything. It still crashes .
Can someone link me the he fastest way to get to Microsoft to help me fix this stuff.
I'm seriously going insane. All me stuff is gone and since its impossible to take a backup I'll never get it back.
Die, Microsoft. Die.
You just made me lose heaps of things because of a camera flaw.

BTW, you should back up all important information on any device. Laptop, Tablet PC, Desktop PC, Smartphone, Thumb Drive, etc. It's not Microsoft's fault if you lose you fault due to data loss. Important information should be backed up and IIRC Windows Phone 7 is capable of keeping the Camera Roll Sync'd up with SkyDrive.
I give you 3/10, though.

A side note, if you've got a job that depends on your ability to take pictures, you might not want to depend on a phone's camera and use a dedicated camera.

@Side Note: Still shouldn't matter. Anyone that takes (EDIT) photos for business use with their phone camera should have the SkyDrive Camera Roll Backup/Sync enabled and you can set your Photo Gallery to Private.
The OP's situation is completely avoidable.

damn my camera app crashed too yesterday after i was changing some settings.
i turned off light and changed the measurement adjustment.
it crashed when i tried to focus the object. black screen, crash.
so happy a restart fixxed it, i better dont mess with the settings for some time...

If you read the manual and understood what you were doing before you did it you would have known that a Hard Reset puts the phone back to its initial state.
You must have also disabled image syncing onto Zune which would have backed up your photos everytime you plugged it in or Wifi synched it. Could have also auto-uploaded the pics to Skydrive and had a lower resolution copy on there.
Can't blame Microsoft for this. Yes, the camera should not be broken, but most times a soft reset will fix any software issues.

1. What you were doing when it crashed.
Nothing. I tried to take a picture by holding the camera button whilit was still locked.
2. What type of phone you have.
HTC HD7
3. Whether or not you're using a 3rd party MicroSD card in the slot.
No, I did not modify my phone
4. What actually happens when it crashes (phone freezes, app just closes, middle finger graphic comes up on the screen, what does it do?)
It shows the zoom bar on the right, then immediately closes and shows the start screen.
5. Were you on WiFI, EDGE, 3G, GPRS?

All I did that evening was texting, calling and updating my status on Facebook because the power blacked out, three times.

Ok, so after the third hard reset the camera works again.
But now all the pictures I take are rotated 90 degrees
I think there's definately something wrong with the camera app.

Sounds more like a HW problem to me (wouldn't be the first for a HD7) as it doesn't happen to everyone else.

Yeah, sounds like a bad HD7 to me too. My first HD7 was an awesome phone, if by awesome, the standard you use is how often it simulated Windows XP by crashing on me.
Returned it and got a new one and it's been smooth sailing so far.
Send that POS back and replace, blame HTC not MS and don't do your business while drunk otherwise it won't be the phone's fault you lost your job.

i don't know which is worse, being unable to identify the cause or blaming something else other than the cause

Honestly, I'm actually surprised somebody hasn't posted Die, Badboy70. Die. because of this post, XDA is maturing. Anyway, your Zune auto syncs your photos by default, I'm assuming if you do this for a living, you'd know not to turn this off. So, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you're FOS for saying you're losing a job because of this. I'm betting more on you being a 14 year old who's phone is malfunctioning due to a hardware problem and had to come rant about it instead of asking for help.

Your excuse of being drunk just validates the first part of my phone. You won't know your device is defective without a professional looking at the camera hardware. Just becase nothing else is messing up doesn't mean the camera isn't defective. Considering it worked, and then didn't, especially on factory settings leads me to believe this is hardware related, if it even exists at all. I would try to replace the device.

It's more likely to be a defective HD7 ...

Doesn't a hard reset delete all the data off your phone? So instead syncing it to your PC and extracting the photos you decided to delete. It may be MS fault that your Camera app crashed, but its your fault the data is missing. Why didn't you back your photos up on your computer or even to skydrive? Couldn't had been to important if your didn't.

[Q] Line on all pics: broken lens?

I've noticed this week that I've got a line showing on all my new pictures. I've attached an example.
I remember my phone had fallen on thick carpet a few weeks ago and it may be linked to that fall.
So I'm wondering if the lens is broken.
What is weird is that when I do the focus for my picture the image is perfect, no line at all. And when the picture is taken this line appears. Are the image showed while you prepare the picture and the picture taken by 2 different lenses?
I've wiped the glass that's in front of the lens and checked whether I saw some kind of breakage but I don't see any (which doesn't mean it's not broken).
I've also tried taking a picture with another application and it also shows that line.
Do you think my lens is broken? And why does the line appear only once the picture has been taken?

It could be that a line of the CCD is not functioning correctly, you might not be able to see it when focusing your phone because the image is higher resolution than the screen itself. I'm by no means an expert though, so I could easily be wrong.

Does the line always appear in the same place? It could be a CCD issue like mentioned above. Also, look through your gallery and see what date the line started, and try to correlate it to a specific event (you mentioned the fall). Something else you can try, though I don't know if it will help much, but backup your SD card to your computer and reformat it. It could be an issue with saving. Does the line appear when you look at it through Gallery or only when you blow it up on the PC? Or do you see the line in Gallery when you zoom in on the pic?
Do you have a video recorder on your phone? If you do, record a clip and see if the line appears. Try to view it on the phone and the computer
Other than that, I don't know of anything else other than a warranty replacement. Looking at the line I'm leaning more towards hardware damage, but I can be incorrect.

Yes the line always appear at the same place. I had already checked the date the line first appeared. The problem is I don't take pictures very often so I just know it appeared between mid-January and last week and that in between my phone fell on the carpet
I can see the line both in the Gallery (with or without zooming) and on the PC.
Interesting: I have recorded a video as you suggested and I can see no line. What's the difference between the way the camera and the video recorder work?
I will try formatting the SD card in a few days if I don't find any solution but like you I have the feeling this is a problem with hardware.

Definitely a dead row of pixels in the CCD. This ought to be a warranty issue, if your phone is still new enough.
It may not show up in videos, or in downscaled photos (i.e. if you set your camera to smaller resolutions) because of the way the image is processed, combining information from multiple rows of pixels essentially 'blurring out' the bad information. I presume you will only notice this when recording the highest camera resolution.
Sorry for the bad news. I think there is no cure except replacement.

Negative. The CCD would only be used for the digital imaging, not for the display of the actual phone. Which is why it only affects captured images. A way to test it, download "ShootMe" from the market and take a screen shot. No lines.

The line is probably still there, but because of the recording quality it may not be rendering in the captured video. I'm sure if you recorded 720p you may be able to see a faint detection of the line, since it doesn't look too major in the still shots.

I'm leaning with this guy. Just forget to mention the whole "oops I dropped it" mess. And make sure that you keep it stock (I know your signature says that you're running stock, but how often do we update signatures anymore). Other than that it should be covered under warranty replacement, seeing how it hasn't been out for over a year yet (wasn't the DZ released like 1 Nov 2010?).

I'm not rooted yet as I'm with 1.72 version and I would have to downgrade etc. so it won't be any problem to bring my phone back But this means I can't install Shootme and make the test either.
I am going to contact HTC to see how I can have my phone repaired or replaced. Hope there's a way to fix the problem easily and rapidly as I can't imagine having to go back to my HD2 for several weeks

Did you try a hard reset?

No, I haven't tried. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't fix the issue and as I wouldn't have the time for restoring everything (I can't use Titanium Backup) I prefer not doing a factory reset.
I've asked HTC how I can have my phone repaired: I would have to send my phone to a repair center which isn't a solution that fits me.
They also suggested to try starting in safe mode. I've followed their instructions (Check that the phone is turned off. Then turn it on. When you see the HTC logo press Volume Down button until phone vibrates.). But all I have is the bootloader and it doesn't propose safe mode
I've googled and searched on the forum to find a way to launch that safe mode but haven't found the solution for the moment ...

Just about had it with the camera on the LG G4

Hello all I will make this short.
I am so frustrated with the LG G4 camera but today something really pushed me over the top.
The problem I have is a lot of times you will go to take the picture, it will make the flash, screen stabilize etc, and it wont save the picture. It makes it seem like it is, but it doesn't. It seems like you have the hold the damn camera still a few seconds after the picture is "taken" to make sure it pops up in the little corner in that bubble.
it is getting REALLY annoying to do this, I was on my way to work today, stopped and pulled over to take a picture of a house that is for sale. Anyway I get to work and go to find the picture of the house , and it WAS NOT there. This happens CONSTANTLY and its really starting to piss me off. Is there a third party camera app that works better than this trash LG put out. The actual camera, hardware wise, is quite good it takes great pictures. But the software is one of the worst ive ever used. And I know its not just my phone because I had to do a warranty exchange recently, and I had the problem on the previous phone

Very weird. My camera takes pictures instantly and within a fraction of a second, the pic can be seen in the "bubble". I never had to hold the camera for any amount of time to make sure it was recorded.
Were the light conditions particularly difficult when you took a picture of the house (I.E. very dark)?
Do you have a case that could be partly blocking the lens or the focusing laser?

Do you have an SD card installed? Are your photos stored there? I had this problem a while ago with a crappy sd-card.
Try using the internal memory and see if that works.

Is HDR set to auto or not? I find with it on or on auto it takes a bit longer

As long as you don't need long exposure time, try proshot.
I can't say I've had this problem with the camera software.

Nope HDR is off. I will however, set it to save on the phones internal memory. it doesn't happen EVERY time either, just often enough where I lose an important picture, even though the flash obviously goes off and it indicates it took the picture

I got this problem too. I have it save to SDCARD and I don't know if my sdcard is crappy though. Class 10 UHS-1 is enough isn't it|?

Aside from the class, also consider the manufacturer. I had veeeerry slow viewing/saving pics when I was using a Kingston SD card. Bought a Sandisk class 10 and all my problems went away

I never had an issue with pictures not saving. I only use internal storage though. Let us know if you're still missing pics after saving them as internal storage.

This has happened to me twice.
I believe it's related to having an sd card installed and the camera app not saving it's settings. There's a bug in the camera app where it periodically resets it's settings. Default storage location is SD card (if installed).
I normally store photos to internal memory. The first time this happened to me I noticed the storage location had changed to sd card. I figured it did it's reset the settings thing mid-save or something.
I know when mine resets cause I normally turn off location tagging. When it resets, it prompts you to turn it on so I use that as my queue to set the storage location back to internal.
Not sure if this is the problem or not. Just a theory.

Which SD card do you have ? manufacturer, class and size.
Stock or not.

Happens on mine in testing conditions such as low light when focusing and only during testing conditions. Just hold the camera for a second or two (which isn't a long time to wait to be fair), and that's all it takes really.
I always save to SD card and only ever have the problems in certain conditions such as taking a pic of a sign in a car park under low light.

To solve the problem, deativate the shortcut to open the camera with the volume down button. Settings will remain saved.
