Hey there,
I'm planning to root my Desire.
It is Vodafone Germany Branded (vodafone scene included) and I
updated to 2.2 with the official Vodafone Update (OTA, some weeks ago)
Now I found a tutorial here with unrevoked to root every Desire with any HBOOT.
My HBOOT version is 0.93.0001 !
But i read something like "i need a goldcard to root when my desire is branded"
Is this goldcard needed to root with unrevoked because my desire is branded by vodafone?
When I'm in the Bootloader (Vol. Down + Power ) i get this information:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.09.05.30_2
HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
My Desire has got an AMOLED Display.
What do I Have to do? Do i have to root with Goldcard+unrevoked or just with unrevoked?
After rooting i want to flash the "AuraxTSense V.7.8.1" Rom.
This won't be a problem right?
Thanks
I have a Softbank branded desire and unrevoked worked fine for me.
Same here with Dutch Vodafone image. I just did the root with Unrevoked using a Linux live CD (SLAX). It reboots a couple of times and now is successfully rooted!!
Use unrevoked , i think it goes fine with 0.93 hboot.
Search the threat that explains how to use unrevoked.
Good luck.
Moved to Q&A. Please don't post question threads in Development.
You need a gold card to use the hboot downgrade utility that will flash an official HTC WWE ROM with the older hboot 0.80..
This can then be rooted by Unrevoked, if you were still on 2.1 Eclair then the gold card wouldn't have been needed

Using UnRevoked http://rootmydroid.co.uk/guides/gen...esire-wildfire-evo-incredible-with-unrevoked/
I just rooted succesfully WITHOUT a gold card. So you don't need it, even if you accepted an official update (OTA)
Thanks to all replies
I just bought desire 1 weeks ago, My desire hboot is 0.93.0001, scld
I rooted my phone by unrevoked with recovery-RA-desire-v1.7.0.1-R5.1-0.93, and have flash a new rom.
But still s-on, i saw many treads about how to get s-off for 0.93 from chiese htcplayer forum, general methods are to downgrade 0.93 to 0.8x,
here i want to know if there is a simple method just like root with unrevoked, to get s off.
ps. i wanna clear that if root completely must include s -off

Hi,
Just got my first ever htc phone the htc desire locked on 3 (UK)
I was looking around and I am preparing to root the phone using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
It says however that your device must be hboot 0.93 or lower. I checked and it says my phone is 0.93.0001 is it still okay to use this guide to root it?
Also will rooting my phone unlock it or must the phone be unlocked to root it?
Thanks in advanced and sorry if this is a noob question.
Unrevoked 3 will work.
I have the exact same Hboot version, and I got a custom rom on it.(rooted, s-off, alpharev Hboot)
Hey
How can I root a Wildfire using a Android application (.apk) installed on the phone? I tried Gingerbreak and it reboots the phone, it gets "stuck" on one of the bootscreens; I say "stuck" because it stay on there after 3 minutes or so, I hit the power button and suddenly it gets unstuck but Superuser is NOT installed.
Using unrevoked or similar types of programs is not possible in my scenario. If it was, I would have used that the first time around and be done with this
Thanks for the help
Sadly the only ways I know of are unrevoked (hboot 0.80) or alpharev x beta (hboot 1.01). Just remember you use these tools at your own risk
Just so that you know AlphaRevX=/= Root.
AlphaRevX enables you to root, you still need to root it.

Yes, you can use gingerbread.apk to root you phone, but provided only when your phone is S-OFF either by xtc clip or by alpharevx.
If your hboot is 0.80 with s-on, then use unrevoked to root. Alternatively you can update the hboot to 1.01 and use alpharevx to s-off and then root. The advantage in doing this is having s-off. But read a bit in these forums about that.
And if your hboot is 1.01 with s-on, then only way presently is to make s-off and then root.
[Definitely there should be a need of PC for using unrevoked or alpharevx for a S-ON wildfire. When there is nand security, I think it is not possible to run something (other than HTC updates) from phone itself when it is in hboot/fastboot mode. Correct me if I'm wrong.]

Its a shame I cant do it since I do not have access to the Wildfire and a PC at the same time.
Oh well thanks for the information.
I've been looking at updating my EVO through stock roms, and just recently noticed at some point i have updated to hboot 2.18, though still rooted. Is it possible to obtain s-off at this point? and if so, possible without downgrading and flashing everything to stock and rerooting? my obvious concern here is that, while my info on 2.18 is slight, I have heard it can't be tweaked.
Just curious... Currently am trying Derp3D out as many of the roms I wish to play with (CM9, for example) don't play well with PDroid (a must have for numerous reasons on my system)
How are you still rooted? as in s-off? 2.18 is a locked bootloader so you would have to unlock it to flash recovery. Just not sure what you mean?
As for ICS, its just not there yet for me so I am not any help...
dunno... on bootloader it says UNLOCKED at top, s-on, but have no problems with pdroid, superuser, cwm...
All root-req apps are still 100% functional, too.
basically, i'm looking to get s-off to update the radios, wimax, etc, and still use an older rom that functions with pdroid.
There's a guide by Captain Throwback that explains how to gain s-off with an unlocked, s-on 2.18 hboot. Do a search, you should be able to find it.
