I really love my htc desire, but one thing is very very annoying on my device : this stupid back cover is always making little crackling noise when i put my hand on it !
It feels like the back cover is not properly placed but no matter how i close the cover i still have this problem.
Anybody has the same issue or found how to fix this ?
nobody has this issue ?
I have this issue once in a while. Almost feels like part of the back case isn't quite snapped into place when it is. It really isn't that big a deal for me.
I hear that too.
It doesn't bother me.
Of course, would be better if didn't make the noise.
mine too. doesn't bother me though. If you just got it I guess you could swap it for a new one.
me too. bothers me a wee bit, but haven't tried to fix it yet

The title says it all. Is yours flush with the back of the case when it's folded in?
Mine protrudes ever so slightly. Its just barely noticeable enough to be a pain in the ass, but its less than a millimeter. I know my Evo had already been returned when I bought it, so it could just be my unit, but I don't know.
So anyways, weigh in in the poll!
What makes it a pain? Mine is barely too, but haven't really noticed until you made me look lol

Haha its not really an issue I guess, I'm just mega OCD, so when I run my hand over the back of the phone and feel that, it makes me wanna break things
All kidding aside, it doesn't effect anything I guess, but if it was just me I was gonna try and get a swap for another one. If it's on all of them, it doesn't matter, I just was wondering about it.
Mine also sticks out a bit, but I don't find it annoying. What I find annoying is the fact that it squeaks when I pop it out.
About a mm or so
I think they all do. Mine does.

My wife's and mine are flush.
mine is flush. although i do not use it often, and when i do, it is for short periods of time. it could just be the weight of the device putting strain on and stretching out the kickstand and its spring or whatever mechanism makes it retract and come out. i also use some form of case armor as a cover that is on it all the time, and there is a little bit of space cut out for the kickstand, so if it was to protrude in the future, it would still be flush with the case, if not still a little embedded inside it

Nah its not been pushed out it was like this since I bought it. Like I said its not a big issue, but the lack of consistency with these devices is kinda scaring me. I am a big HTC fan, but wow.
Damn. This looks like another difference between the build versions. I may have to do a swap
This is no where serious enough to do a swap unless you were already going to swap for another reason. If it still functions as it's supposed to and isn't wobbly, why send the whole thing back?
Mine protrudes probably a half a mm out (just barely noticeable until you said something) but it definitely doesn't detract from the device at all. Works perfectly. No where near as distracting as light leakage.

No it doesn't interfere with the use, and it really isn't that serious. But, if not all of the units have this issue, and I'm going to be stuck with it for two years, then I would prefer to do a swap for a device without it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not being a whiny ***** about it, it all of them were like that I wouldn't care. But since there are units without it, and I'm paying to own the phone, I would rather get one that won't bother me each time I pick it up.
P.S: on the light leakage. I KNOW RIGHT! My iPhone 3G got swapped 3 times for a light leak, it's a huge issue in darker areas. Can't believe that slipped through, but I can live with it if I have to, since it seems like every unit has it.
theres a kickstand?
kidding ... mine sits completely flush. if you get a case it would eliminate that problem.
Perhaps it is not suppose to be flush and those with flush kickstands have defective units.
Mine is flush...
.....damn double-post.

Really? Could've fooled me.
Which brings me to another point, does everyone's earpiece speaker grill have holes that are only halfway showing, or is it just me? It's really irritating, not that I'm complaining about it, but I may try to swap if mine's the only one.... <---Sarcasm if you missed it.

Dude chill. The point of this thread was to see if everyone had this issue or just me, since I knew my phone was a return when I bought it. Why even read through all the posts to find that if you were just gunna be a troll?

Nothing to chill about... get real. I posted a sarcastic comment, doesn't make me a troll.
Hi all,
I have had my DHD for about 2 weeks now and I have just noticed that if I set it down on a hard surface it does make a bit of a plastic-y rattling sound. If I shake the phone it also rattles, but hardly near as much, it is barely audible. Is this something to be concerned about? If it's not going to affect the phone in the long run I would rather just keep it with the rattle but I would like to be sure before doing so. So is this going to cause problems in the long run or is it just a benign niggle?
Thanks in advance
They all do this, and I know what you mean. Nothing to be worried about, I've heard most handheld devices do this, let alone just this phone. The shaking when you put the phone down on the table i most likely just the phone shaking very quickly as you put it down, just because the camera protrudes.

Mine used to, But after dropping it on concrete a few times it doesn't lol
It would be nice if that were it but I get the same noise from tapping on the back, I think it could be something inside the camera that's a bit loose when not being used, it seems to work fine though,so I guess its not a huge issue, just a slight annoywnce.
How are you tapping it? Basically, there is a tiny rattle there, but it isn't prominent. I'd say it's the camera too, but definitely a non-issue.

It's just a tap below the camera with the flat of my finger, it is quite noticeable but only in a very quiet room. I guess I've got two years on the warranty anyway I'll try not to worry
I was wondering if anyone else had some backcover flexing. Specifically, right between the camera and the google logo. This is with the standard cover with 1750mhA battery.
It just bothers me a bit because its not perfect. :S
I definitely have some flexing there and for me, if I press my finger to the right of the camera (looking at the back) it flexes and makes a slight clicking noise. Bothers me too and I end up doing it on purpose way too much >< My friend works at the place I bought it and she let me try another back to see if it made a difference but it did the same thing so I think it's normal!
It's good to know that it's not just my phone experiencing this. Thanks of the reply.
Mine doesn't flex at all!
mine does, and the one i replaced did as well, i expect the 3rd one does the same so i didnt go back to exchange it
same to 3 of my frd's
so, if u dont like it, put 2 layers of scrotch tape on the inside of the battery cover around the camera area
Hi guys,
So I noticed a creaking sound coming from my Note 2 when I flex it. I wasn't flexing it hard, just a gentle bend back and forth. So I took the back cover off to see if it was that, however the creaking sound was still there. I played around with it a bit and found that the sound was being made from the bottom left hand side of the phone (when screen is facing down). This is where the S-pen silo is, and it is the plastic around there that is making the noise. I'm wondering if anyone else has this 'issue' and would it be a problem? thanks
Samsung plastic at work. Normal.if it bothers you a lot get a back cover or stop squeezing
Lol. And the normal use of a phone includes flexing it like that. Oh my
Sent from my Samsung Note II.
Thanks guys, I was just wondering if was going to be an issue, because it didn't really sound good :good:
Hahah the reason I found out about this was from taking my case off the phone. I started flexing the device after I noticed the sound to investigate what it was.
A little back story: me and my friend bough One X-es not long ago, and while i generally LOVE the phone,
both mine device and my friends (we bought it on same carrier, same store, few days difference) it had this really
uncool creaking all around when you touch the phone on certain areas (ours were specialy creaky at the bottom)
This is what people call "bad builds", "manufacturing fault" etc. It was kinda sad for device of this quality, with unibody design.
Now, i was already dealing with the fact that i have creaky one, and as much as i dident like it, i couldent be sure that replacament
wont be the same, and both of us just choose to live with it. Until yesturday. So what happends was, I dropped my phone from my table.
Pretty bad. I was already pale-faced of fear that i broke the screen, but what actually happend is that screen just popped out a bit.. you know,
like bottom part was little raised up and as i know this is actually way to open OneX i just popped it back in place and nice "click" was heard.
and quess what? The creaking was gone, completely.device never felt more solid, and i cant even get it to creak now no mather how hard i press!
Seems like certain builds are just not properly assambled, and this fall obviously just put everything back in place!
So right away i call my friend and tell him what happend, and how happy i am. What he did was he tryed to reproduce the "problem" by trying
to open up the phone like in here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpBAupp8kKc . It was hard to do at the beggining but he menaged to
get it pop up a bit after some trying. he said while he was doing it phone creaked and screamed like crazy, but the moment he popped back
everything in place, ALL of the creaking instantly stopped, like in my case!
TL;DR So my conclusion. Seems like some series of builds are just like that out-of-the-box, and looks like something is not properly alligned in factory itself. Poping screen out a few milimeters and then back in place seems to fix this creaking problem.
Two important things to mention:
1. Do not pop the screen out all the way by any means i think it can void your warranty.
2. I read some phones are glued in place and you wont be able to open it anyway, so dont try to open it too hard.
if you try to pop it out just a little like we did, without actually completely opening up device there is no
way you will void your warranty, so this is safe! So, if you have creaky build-try it out, you got nothing to
lose, except your creaking problem.
I have a slight creaking sound.. but everywhere on the screen... Only if I press the screen at a certain angle the sound comes... I tried popping the casing again but the sounds still there
Not a big deal though....
Fixed my creaky upper left corner...THANKS!
