Hallo,
I am looking for "magic" keyword for APN type setting which will allow to have different APN for exchange.
I have to manually switch two APNs with APN type "default".
I have seen that vodafone rom has for exchange email APN type = misp but it doesn't work on TMO ROM. It is possible transfer this behavior (app) from vodafone ROM? Is some list of APN types available?
thank you
Just wondering, did you find a solution ?
Ive got the same problem, corporate email on private apn.
need to be able to tell exchange sync to use other apn.
Steve
not yet it seems there is no slolution except of change of device/system

Just flashed a cingular sx66 with the 1.42 tmobile Uk rom, and got most of it set up.I got the web2go thingy working with internet2.voicestream.com, and tried to set up the mms to work, and it doesn't, and I don't know why.
I can receive the portion of a message that tells me I have an mms from whoever, and to "mark for download", but when it goes to download, it gives me some error about not being able to retrieve the attatchment, and to try again later. Also, if I attempt to send an mms, I get a similar error about not being able to send.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening?
well what carrier are you using?
and if you're using the same EXT rom as the ukrom, thats very likely why. i've never used MMS since superold plan, but i imagine something is funky with the MMS settings.
I use tmobile usa. And, so far as I know, everything else is in proper working order.
What do you do if you want to send/recieve picture messages?
..messages? i just pop out micrsod and upload them to my site lmfao or email them.
butyeah, if you're using UK settings that may be your problem.
I agree with you..... what settings we are talking about, is the question.
try flashing with a US rom, see if it helps.
The only us rom is cingular.... eh. that's what I just flashed off the device.
or a Himalaya extrom would work too methinks.
I may have just bricked the radio.... dunno. I tried to cover that pin like it says in the wiki (universal's battery problem) and put the battery back in... the device wouldn't power on, so i pulled the battery and tape, and now the unit boots and all, but won't find service. at all.
I'm going to look at flashing the newest radio, and see if that will fix it.

i managed to buy a desire the day they came out,but unfortunatly it was locked to tmobile.i managed to get it unlocked via htcode, but have not managed to either go on the internet or send mms messages with o2.i have looked through various answers to the question of settings for the desire and some people have said that they have managed to use it successfully.i have tried adding a new apn with the various settings found among these pages but now wonder if tmobile hide a default apn within their software that i cannot see to delete. any help please!
What do you see when you go to:
Menu - Settings - Wireless & Networks - Mobile Networks - Access Point Names
There should be a list of APNs - if so, list them here.
One of them should have a green dot to the right of it - which one?
Zippyioa
originally there were none.now there are 2 both of which i have created o2 uk mms and o2 mobile web (the green dot)
Ok that's a great start....
If you go back to: menu - settings - wireless networks check that Mobile Network is ticked. If it is what does it say below it?
turning on it constantly says that, sometimes connection failed
Can you untick mobile network? If so, try it, wait, then tick it again and see if it connects....
If not your APN settings may be wrong, so go into Mobile Networks - Access Point Names and click on the one for the internet settings.
List them here so I can check they are right.
Also, has this O2 SIM worked on the internet before? If not you may need to call O2 for them to enable it
the sim worked fine on an n95.unticking and reticking makes no difference.the settings i have are as follows
name o2 mobile web
apn mobile.o2.co.uk
proxy not set
port not set
username o2 web
password password
server not set
mmsc not set
mms proxy not set
mms protocol wap 2.0
mcc 234
mnc 10
authentication type none
apn type not set
name o2 uk mms
apn wap.o2.co.uk
proxy not set
port 9201

password password

mmsc htt://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
mms proxy 193.113.200.195
mms port 8080
mms protocol wap 2.0

Ok, they all look ok except one thing. Try editing the username - change it from o2 web to mobileweb and make sure you save changes!
See if that works.
Zippyioa
changed, saved, rebooted nothing, still says turning on under mobile networks
That's no good....
OK, just to make sure we have this right, delete ALL the current settings in the APN menu, then reboot the phone with the O2 SIM in it - this might pick up the settings you need.
If it doesn't, go here: http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html and use the GPRS settings for O2 to add the APN. Once done, save, then reboot and see if that works.
I assume this is a contract SIM, not pay as you go? From memory o2 PAYG wasnt setup for internet in the same way....
yes yes yes i was begining to think i would never see the internet on this phone.i can only say thank you.i went to the site you suggested and entered the settings provided and as if by magic!!!!
thanks again
Persistence always pays off in the end.
Glad its sorted now, enjoy mobile intetnet!

The limit in my EnergyROM is currently 300kb but the att limit is 600kb. I know there is a fix, but I can't find it, no matter how much I search.
Could some one link me to it please?
Thanks!
Smith
From the Energy ROM FAQ. Does this answer your question? It should say Sending MMS with AT&T, I'm not sure why he put SMS.

Sending SMS with AT&T: Run the Carrier Provisioning at Start > Tools, select ATT 2. The download and install this CAB http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...4&d=1271445465 to adjust the maximum size to 600k.

PS: I have never had to install the cab that he mentions and it changes to 600kb automatically. That may be for an older version and they forgot to update the FAQ, not quite sure but I do not believe that part is necessary, just run the carrier provisioning.
mms fix at&t
Please post to links for users to try thanks.
For those who can't receive at&t mms:
I used the PR MMS MediaNet settings tool available on XDA
Go to Settings>Connections>Connections
Delete all data connections before running the tool
Use the device Network Setup Tool to make your primary connection.
Run the PR MediaNet MMS tool to set the size limites
After setting up the connection create a new connection in com manager
Use Work Connection
Use these settings
Connection Cellular GRPS 3G
Name I used MediaNet No Proxy
APN wap.cingular
Username [email protected]
Passwork CINGULAR1
Do not use the proxy settings for this
Have all internet applications go to this connection do that in your com manager
Go into your mms options in messaging click servers click at&t mms make sure MediaNet is still the connection for send/receive mms
now it will send receive mms using the at&t proxy and the internet for other apps without the proxy
how about sending bigger then 600?
Hello,
Does anyone know, heard about application that enables synchronization with the Exchange using a different APN ?
Now I have to manually switch between APN`s before I connect to internet or synchronize my phone.
The closest solution to your problem is APNSwitcher. It is a widget that lets to quickly switch between 2 APNs.
Hello, I'm new to the XDA forum so sorry in advance if I'm violating any unspoken rules. I have read through quite many threads here, but I couldn't find a solution for my issues.
I'm trying to change my APN Protocol from ipv6 to ipv4 in order to get the PS4 Remote Play app to work over LTE/4G as well as wifi.
I found the instructions here , but I can't seem to find the "APN protocol" setting with the rest of the APN settings.
All I see in the list are: "Name, APN, Proxy, Port, Username, Password, Server, MMSC, MMS proxy, MMS port, MMS protocol, MCC, MNC, Authentication type, APN type, APN enable/disable and Rearer". But "APN protocol" is nowhere to be found.
I'm running the stock 5.0.1 and I have no interest in rooting at this time. My carrier is DNA (Finland).
Any solutions for this?
