Tmobile UK rom MMS issue in USA - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Just flashed a cingular sx66 with the 1.42 tmobile Uk rom, and got most of it set up.I got the web2go thingy working with internet2.voicestream.com, and tried to set up the mms to work, and it doesn't, and I don't know why.
I can receive the portion of a message that tells me I have an mms from whoever, and to "mark for download", but when it goes to download, it gives me some error about not being able to retrieve the attatchment, and to try again later. Also, if I attempt to send an mms, I get a similar error about not being able to send.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

well what carrier are you using?
and if you're using the same EXT rom as the ukrom, thats very likely why. i've never used MMS since superold plan, but i imagine something is funky with the MMS settings.

I use tmobile usa. And, so far as I know, everything else is in proper working order.
What do you do if you want to send/recieve picture messages?

..messages? i just pop out micrsod and upload them to my site lmfao or email them.
butyeah, if you're using UK settings that may be your problem.

I agree with you..... what settings we are talking about, is the question.

try flashing with a US rom, see if it helps.

The only us rom is cingular.... eh. that's what I just flashed off the device.

or a Himalaya extrom would work too methinks.

I may have just bricked the radio.... dunno. I tried to cover that pin like it says in the wiki (universal's battery problem) and put the battery back in... the device wouldn't power on, so i pulled the battery and tape, and now the unit boots and all, but won't find service. at all.
I'm going to look at flashing the newest radio, and see if that will fix it.

TMO MMS/DATA Setup Web2Go settings
I've had the settings for a while to get MMS and data working. Ialso have the 9.99 web2go (or whatever they are calling it now)

Mms & Aku 3.2

People
I really like the AKU 3.2 roms, but have been unable to enable MMS using the new IA Composer client that they are being released with.
I am using MMS Composer Version 3.5.1.5 by ArcSoft.
Does anybody have a Telstra Australia provider that they have have the MMS working with on AKU 3.2 roms.
Alternatively, does any body have access to the AKU 2.0 version of MMS that I can install and use, as it was definitely working with AKU 2.0 that is the official release from Imate.
MMS Composer V3.5.1.5
Greetings
I'm also having problems with MMS in ROM 1.90.96.
Although I have the ability to send messages, I'm unable to
receive messages - only notifications in a folder.
Please advise.
Bless.
i live in the uk and i also have the same problem i can send mms but can not get them but if i install the t-mobile os then it works fine please help
It seems to be some kind of incompatibility with T-Mobile. I can also send messages, but not receive them....
Please can someone help us? Maybe suggest something we can do to assist the more knowledgeable people in the forum fix this?
T-Mobile MMS Issues...
Guys,
I am one of the AKU 3.2 developers and can say that the MMS client is totally fine.
I live in the U.S. and have T-Mobile and mine works perfect.
However for some strange reason I could not receive any MMS until I sent myself one from the phone itself. So please confirm your settings and try sending a message to yourself first.
Also if you guys provide me with the correct GPRS,WAP and MMS settings I will create some cab files for you.
BTW:
The correct T-Mobile USA settings are:
GPRS:
-----------------------------------------
Name: T-Mobile USA
APN: wap.voicestream.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080 (WAP 2.0)
MMS:
-----------------------------------------
Name: T-Mobile USA MMS
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
Server: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect Via: The WAP Network
Sending Limit 250K
WAP Version: WAP 2.0
Nope, hasn't worked for me (T-Mobile UK). I have all of the settings correct, and am able to send MMS, just not receive.
I just attempted to send myself one. It sent successfully, then the 'Downloading Media Message' notification comes up....it goes from 0% to 99% then disappears, and there is no sign of any message.
mms
yes just like you said it gets to 99 % and flops out as soon as i put the t-mobile uk os back on then it all works fine gave up on aku 3.2 and gone back to t-mobile not very happy but till it gets sorted out then what can you do if you want to get a mms message
Can someone post all the correct settings for T-Mobile UK. I have the same problem and would like to check mine.
Thanks.

These are the settings that work for me on AKU 2.0, but not with the latest MMS client. They are also taken directly from my Vario with an unmodified T0mobile ROM on it, which also works:
MMS
Server Name: T-Mobile PictureMessage
Gateway: 149.254.201.135
Port Number: 8080
Server Address: http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002/
Connect Via: T-Mobile Internet
WAP Version: WAP 2.0
Needless to say, I doubt it is your settings causing the problem!! EDIT: You may have a different gateway, I know there are two.
mine relates i think to the Australia Telstra .cab file used on both the imate site, and the one contained in the rom.
I went to the Telstra website, got the settings, and found a few were incorrect. changed them and can send and receive no problems. Had to use the K-Jam settings, but they appear to work just fine.
It was the IP addresses, and the website settings appeared as if they were the default, not the localised. also the internet connection flag was not ticked in the connection setting, so if ticked, it would then send also.
well... actually, while doing this, i created other problems, but am working on them now. to do with VPN, WAP, gprs, activesync, push email, wifi internet connect.... and combined with work/internet choice. Trying to get the optimum combination so that all settings work perfectly the first time is a unique challenge in itself.
Soooo.... normally i would close the thread, but it appears it is being used for the T Mobile issues not mine.
MMS now works!!!???!!!??!!
Whapm peeps,
As weird as it may seem, I can now receive and MMS.
7 hours ago I inserted my T-Mobile SIM into a new MDA Vario (Wizard)
and tried to send and receive my own MMS. After a successful attempt I then reinserted my SIM into the Exec. 3 hours later, while checking phone, I realised that the icon for a new notification message (in the MMS "New folder") looked different. When I clicked on the message it opened the image i sent earlier. When i closed it, it transferred it's self to the In Box.
I've successfully received 5 MMS’s now. Weird but at least now everything is normal.
Peace all over.
Wow! ... This is strange! ... I just sent a MMS to myself and I received it! ... This is the weirdest thing! What is the logic to that?! ... Anyways, glad it works!
Same here.
My guess is that TMobile UK have changed something at thier end. Perhaps gearing up for a Aku 3 release product ?
Zuber
Same here, lets hope it is T-Mobile gearing up for an AKU 3 product, or new ROM update

Help with Push Email On Cingular

I'm sure this has been answered before but I cannot find it.
I got just got hooked up with Cingy moving from T-Mobile. I have checked all internet settings carefully according to the instructions received from Cingy.
Everything works except I have to click send/receive to get email. It does not automatically download as it did when I was using T-Mobile.
I am not using Cingy's Xpress Mail. I'm using my mail2web.com account.
Any help would be much appreciated.
*HINT*
Maybe something like activesynch
I just went through this. However, I am using Exchange Server. You need to call Cingular, get yourself escalated to a higher level 'data' tech, and talk to them about provisioning your account for diect push.
*SIGH*
Umm no this has nothing to do with Cingular..
Launch ActiveSynch and click Menu/Schedule
Make sure its set to 'As items arrive'
You may want to check off 'Use above settings when roaming'
MrDsl is correct. I use the above setting for my work account eamail and schdeule the hours for business hrs. Btw you will want to have PDA connect plan for this because you phone will convieniently not turn gprs off at the end of your scheduled sync time.
Gentlemen:
Thanks for the info. I have the activesync settings right. I have the PDA plan for the 8525. I'll call Cingular. So far I'm impressed with the data speed, but the voice quality and number of dropped calls far suppass what I had with T-Mobile.
Maybe i'm retarded, but I cannot for the life of me find the Menu>Schedule as MrDSL described. I've checked on the phone, on the pc... I'm guessing that I am just overlooking it constantly, but where is it?!

Open ActiveSync. On the left is Sync, on the right is Menu. Schedule.
And as everyone here has stated, this has absolutely nothing to do with Cingualr, period. If you DO decide to call them, you (and they) have more patience than I.
Also, one needs never use their PC to configure AS for push mail. My PC is used only to flash new ROM's and copy a cab.
ah, thats why i wasn't seeing it before, it's greyed out. now just to figure out why it's greyed out and everything will be kosher.
sorry for the retard question, thanks for the answer.
Does any of you manage your own exchange server?
I have pretty much trouble getting directpush / activesync to work .. OWA works, OMA works..i'm running out of options here ..
I know this is not the place to ask but just giving it a shot.
TIA, diem

Push Isn't Pushing
I've read this thread completely and I still cannot get the push email to push.
Facts:
1) I am using Dutty's WM6 Premium v. 2 on an 8525 on Cingular USA with the $44.95 PDA plan.
2) For internet settings, I have tried both the MediaNet Settings with all the proxy settings they suggest, and the more simple settings (My ISP) where one just uses wap.cingular and the User name of [email protected] and the CINGULAR1 password, but not proxy stuff.
3) On the Active Sync/Schedule settings, I have chosen "as items arrive" for both settings.
4) My Exchange Server is mail2web.com. Previous to buying a Cingular SIM card, I used the BA, a Wizard, and my 8525 to receive push email using a T-Mobile Sim (so I have a little experience).
5) I can get a 3G internet connection. It shows two 3Gs on the top of the today screen and then Two H's (for HSPDa) when downloading data. When the icon is tapped it shows how long the connection has been live.
6) I can get my email off the exchange server by clicking send/recieve, but I WANT PUSH.
7) I can put my T-Mobile Card in the 8525 and change the WAP settings to wap.voicestream.com and get email pushed instantly (The internet Icon at the top of the today screen shows two Es for edge network).
8) I can put my Cingular SIM in my Blue Angel and get push email (via GPRS).
9) This all makes not sense, I've got a live connection, I can download the email but it won't automatically show up.
Any clues would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tired isp.cingular and [email protected] (no proxies). These are for the PDA access plan (not MediaNet((=wap)) which runs through proxies)

1.) Delete your exchange server on the 8525.
2.) Start fresh as far as connection settings go so either uninstall all connections or start the os fresh(best option).
3.) Run attached .cab. It will be automatically set with the isp.cingular no proxys as default.
4.) Launch ActiveSynch and setup your exchange server again.
Any luck?
MrDSL
Thanks for the advice. I tried that. I finally reflashed the ROM and it all works perfectly.
Thanks Again

HELP t-mobile MMS

ok heres the deal...
i have a 8525 unlocked and super CID on the t-mobile network..
i am using the HTC offical Release of WM6
i have everything set properly on my phone. i have even gone to the extent of calling t-mobile for support but they said i have all my information correct( modem connection and proxy server) i was wondering if anyone else on the t-mobile network is having the same problem.. any feed back or help is appretiated
P.S. The phone DOSE connect to the GPRS network and shows a connection ticker.... seems to time out when downloading MMS/Web content
mee too
Hey there. I am in the same boat. I have the TyTn which i'm using on Tmobile (US). I walked through withe the Tmobile rep and validated all the settings but my MMS still does not work.
My internet and all does. very wierd. any help appreciated.
Thanks,

Similar problem
I have a Tmobile Wing, and been having this problem for about 4 months now, it works sending mms to other Tmobile customers but not for other carriers. ANy info on this matter would be appreciated.
Thanx, Erros
Hoping I can help All Tmobile Users WIth a TyTn Device Cause I would Shoot Myself if My MMS didn't Work ! lol
I have 2 Working TyTn devices With Working MMS Sending & Recieving.
At this Point I'm Sure From the Fustration lol You have your MMS Settings Memorized lol But Here there are Just in Case....
Server Name : T-Mobile MMS
Gateway : 216.155.165.50 (Tip if you have 216.155.165.050 it Probably will Not Work)
Port Number : 8080
Server Address :http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
If you Have this So Far All is Good. After This point I will get into Details Cause this Next Step Can be Tricky......
Connect Via: This is Where it Gets Tricky. From My experience You can Send or Receieve MMS message Successfully through wap.voicestream.com SO ! if you have Internet2.voicestream.com or Internet3.voicestream.com YOU MOST LIKELY WILL NOT RECIEVE or BE ABLE TO SEND MMS.....So Since all of us on T-Mobile Don't have 3G yet(Shut up Cingular Users I Don't wanna Hear it ! ) And There Really isn't Much of a Speed decrease or Increase from Using the Different Internet Connections I would Leave the Internet connection aLways at Wap.Voicestream.com.
If you feel like the Internet Speed is "Faster" on The others or the Other Internet Connections give you More Connectivity Options, You Need to Setup 2 Different Connections for the Internet. One for MMS and One for Your Regular Internet Browsing. This Is Where The Option "Connect Via" Gets Tricky. If you set up The MMS Using Wap.voiceStream.com as a General Internet COnnection you can Set
Connection Via : The Internet
If you Setup 2 Connections , One for MMS And One for Internet you will Name The MMS Connection What ever you Choose for ex. "Tmobile MMS" And then When Setting up the MMS and "Connection Via" option , you WIll Select what ever you called the MMS connection in the Drop Down Menu.
Sending Size Limitations : Sound be Set at Max Depending on What Version of MMS you are Using it'll be anywhere from 300k up to 600k in the Drop Down Menu
Wap Version : Wap 2.0
Hope This has Helped. If anyone Needs More help, clarification or Pix For Help of Setup I'd be More than Happy to. Tmobile is so UNHELPFUL when they Find out you are Using a "Non-Tmobile" Phone. So I"ll Help out as Much as I can.
Here you go!
Here you kids go... this will fix server settings and enable tmobile customers running on custom cooked roms to receive the full size picture (without installing these files, you may be able to get it to work with the proper server settings, but pictures will be downscaled). Heres the ultimate fix
enjoy!

Kavana ROM proxy settings: new-inet / new-corp ?

I asked this n another thread, but no joy.
I installed the latest Kavana ROM, works GREAT. Thanks for that.
But, some questions.
I'd like to understand how all the networks and proxy things work.
I understand how proxy servers work for the PC world, but I don't understand all the various connections and proxies on the smartphone.
I'm on T-mobile, and I used the connection wizard. But then MMS and SMS weren't working quite right, so I applied some other settings from some other posts and right now, it all (IE, SMS, MMS) seems to work.
But, I am not at all confident I could reproduce this if I had to flatten the device again. Is there something I can read to understand the relative significance of all the various named networks: "work" "TMobile MMS" "Tmobile Data" "WAP Network" "Secure WAP Network" and "The Internet" and also the various proxies that route to these various networks?
Do I really need all the connections - I have like 7 of them.
The new-inet:1118 proxy - what is that for?
That hostname, is it really meaningful?
I also have a new-corp:1159 proxy,
with a name of HTTP:{3F31657F... (etc etc guid)}
What is THAT thing for?
I'd feel better if I understood all these settings, when and why I need a proxy. etc etc . thanks for pointers.
Anyone know?
Anyone know the answer to this? anyone have any clues to offer me?
I'm also having trouble w/ the MMS after installing Ricky's ROM. Are you able to pull the MMS settings from your phone and share? Otherwise, does anyone else know all of the settings?

These cryptic settings come from active sync. I see them if I allow my DASH to sync with my office Windows XP machine with networking enabled. and my office trys to use the network my Dash is on. Once these entries are created, I can not use my t-mo net connection (cheap version). But it is all fine, once I delete these unknown entries.
My MMS Settings
Here's what I did to get MMS to work, in and out.
I am using Kavana 1.33 ROM.
1. set up 2 connections:
Start...Settings....Connections....GPRS
Now, either add a New item, or edit an existing one.
Description: T-Mo Web or T-Mo Data or something else similarly descriptive
Connects to: The Internet
Access point: internet2.voicestream.com
Username: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Authentication Type: None
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP Address: <blank>
Done
[the above gets you a connection to the Internet ]
Again, either add a New item, or edit an existing one.
Name: T-Mo WAP or T-Mo MMS or something descriptive
Connects To: WAP Network
Access Point: wap.voicestream.net
[everything else as above]
Done
[the above gets you a connection to the T-mobile WAP network]
Done
[you are in Settings...Connections, now.]
2. set up one proxy
Scroll to "Proxy"
[this is also reachable directly from home screen via: Start...Settings....Connections....Proxy]
New.... or Edit an existing (your preference)
Name: Tmo WAP->Internet
Connects from: Wap Network
Connects To: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Username: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Done
[the above sets up a proxy connection for your SMS/MMS]
Done
[you are in Settings...Connections, now.]
3. Set up SMS preferences
Scroll to "SMS Service"
[this is also reachable directly from home screen via: Start...Settings....Connections....SMS Service]
SMS over: GPRS Preferred
Done
[your are now back in Settings...Connections]
Pess the red "call end" button.
[you are now back on the home screen]
4. Set up MMS on the device:
Start...Messaging
scroll to MMS
Menu...Settings...
Menu (again)
MMSC Settings
Menu...New or Menu....Edit (your pleasure).
[the settings for this MMSC thing should be:]
Name: whatever you like, I used "Picture Messaging"
MMSC URL: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
WAP Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
Connect Via: WAP Network
Max. Sending Size: 300k (or whatever you prefer)
WAP version: WAP 2.0
Done
Done
Done
HOME
5. set up IE
Start...Internet Explorer
Menu...Tools...Options...Connections
Automatically Detect Settings - This works either way for me, checked or unchecked
Select network: The Internet.
Done
Done
----
All of the above allows me to send out SMS and MMS messages, and receive in such messages, as welll as surf the internet from IE.
I have the $19.99/month T-Mobile internet plan in the USA.
If you have the $5.99 T-zones plan, then I think your settings may be different.
Search elsewhere for that.

Are you sure? Are you sure those things come from ActiveSync and are not just in the Kavana ROM? I use Windows Vista, and the Windows Mobile Device Center, which is the replacement for Activesync. I have never used WinXP and ActiveSync (on the PC) with this device, but I did have those weird entries. I don't see those odd proxy entries get recreated when I sync with Vista+WMDC.
I assuming that the odd proxy entries that reference "new-corp" and "new-inet", were just "in" the ROM by default. Or maybe they were set up when I ran the Internet Connection Wizard which is in the ROM. I don't know for sure. This is why I am asking you, ARE YOU SURE that those entries come from ActiveSync?
Do they return *every time* you sync?
In any case, lacking any real response from the board, I removed the proxy entries from my device, and for me at least, everything still works - SMS, MMS, Internet, etc.
I hate the fact that this still feels so mysterious.
-Cheeso
Damn. I put in all of these settings exactly as shown and still get an "Error Synchronizing" message when I try and send/receive MMS messages. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm on T-Mobile, $20 plan w/ Ricky's 6.1.

From the Energy ROM FAQ. Does this answer your question? It should say Sending MMS with AT&T, I'm not sure why he put SMS.

Sending SMS with AT&T: Run the Carrier Provisioning at Start > Tools, select ATT 2. The download and install this CAB http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...4&d=1271445465 to adjust the maximum size to 600k.
Click to collapse
PS: I have never had to install the cab that he mentions and it changes to 600kb automatically. That may be for an older version and they forgot to update the FAQ, not quite sure but I do not believe that part is necessary, just run the carrier provisioning.
mms fix at&t
Please post to links for users to try thanks.
For those who can't receive at&t mms:
I used the PR MMS MediaNet settings tool available on XDA
Go to Settings>Connections>Connections
Delete all data connections before running the tool
Use the device Network Setup Tool to make your primary connection.
Run the PR MediaNet MMS tool to set the size limites
After setting up the connection create a new connection in com manager
Use Work Connection
Use these settings
Connection Cellular GRPS 3G
Name I used MediaNet No Proxy
APN wap.cingular
Username [email protected]
Passwork CINGULAR1
Do not use the proxy settings for this
Have all internet applications go to this connection do that in your com manager
Go into your mms options in messaging click servers click at&t mms make sure MediaNet is still the connection for send/receive mms
now it will send receive mms using the at&t proxy and the internet for other apps without the proxy
how about sending bigger then 600?
