Battery - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Android Development

Hey there!
Im using myns warm donut android dev and is it normal for the battery life to be a little less than just running wm6.1?
Thanks

Yes. The android battery meter is not yet fully accurate. You can try the battery fix from the KaiserDroid Eclair thread. If you are running in Haret then it would chew battery more.

[Q] G2 ROM on Desire Z = Lower Battery Life?

Guys,
I've been jumping between ROMs since rooting my phone last week and one thing I've noticed is that my battery life takes a big hit when I'm using the G2 ROM.
You'd think that since it's a lot closer to stock Froyo than the Bell Desire Z ROM it would have better battery life, but that not what I'm seeing.
With both ROMs it seems that they will stay at 100% for a two or three hours and then start coming down - however it's much more dramatic with the G2 ROM and it seems as though it's battery drain gets accelerated.
Has anyone else noticed this?

i have noticed this too,
try an interactive governor with your setcpu and bacon bits, it may help

Are you using the Modaco G2 or CM 6.1 RC1?

For my part, while using CM 6.1RC1 the battery drain was amazingly bad.
Under Modaco G2 ROM, it's more reasonable. For casual use for 7h since being unplugged, I'm at 76%.

My phone's been unplugged for almost 7hrs and I'm at 85% battery on my original Bell ROM.
If you have Spare Parts installed, check Battery History. From there click on the "Running" bar. This will tell you how much time the phone has spent "awake" (this excludes the time the display has been on or while on a call).
I'm at 2hrs 18mins (+20mins with the display on).
Give my stock g2 rom a chance and tell me how that compares. I get better bat life out of stock kernel myself. Bet we could use some uv.
I've noticed something new.
I had my SIM card out of my phone today and it's been unplugged for 5hrs with not cellular network (but everything else going via WiFi) and it's still at 99% battery life.
Uptime is 5hrs 53mins with Awake Time at 1hr 36mins.
Is the cellular connection using more battery than it should be?
it looks like a combination of issues.
1. the android system uses a lot of battery
2.cell standby uses a lot of battery but less than android system
i have a unlocked bell desire z.
installed CyanogenMod RC2 but had to roll back to a sense based rom because the battery drain was just too much.
I figured it out, Kik Messenger was the main culprit.
It's been great since I uninstalled that.
To figure it out o had to restore to a clean rom and install one app at a time. At that point id leave my phone alone for a couple hours and check "wake" time under battery history in Spare Parts. If it was more than 10% we had our app.

seems to me the mocado in my g2 gets better life than the stock g2.
id give up a lot of features for good bat life.
are there any roms created for bat life?

Best kernel for battery life?

Which .37 kernel gives the best battery life? I flashed Incredikernel last night and then charged the phone. This morning I used it for 10 minutes to check emails and the battery went from full to 79.
Oh, and I'm running CM7 RC2

I'm also very interested in this. I just recently rooted/flashed CM7 RC2, and the battery life has been quite disappointing so far. Even with the unnecessary services turned off, my battery drains quite quickly.
I am rolling with SkyRaider 3.5, Lou's #8, an 1800mah battery and this morning, I shocked myself!
I left my house w/88% charged. Took my son to the dentist - used the phone for probably 44 minutes during that, just goofing off, reading, tweaking and whatevering ...
When I left the dentist office, 77%. Drove to work (1 hour) ... sitting at 74%.
I am also running the evo radio - which some say helps or doesn't - but I'm as happy as can be.
I turned off all of the memory management stuff and the phone is lasting longer...
I should also add - that I use Juice Defender, however when USING your phone, it is "defenseless". I find it to help me a lot with my "in my pocket" battery life. You still get txt and calls, you just don't get internet traffic.
YMMV
Where did you turn off the memory management features?
I've been using ziggys latest on Incredibly Re-Engineered Z and having great battery life. 14 hrs today off charger and was still at 50%.

Troll around in the developer section for a bit, I think they even have a few stickies, you'll figger it out pretty quickly.

[Q] Battery draining at 1% per 30 seconds!?

Hello. I am having a problem with my Evo 4G. I recently replaced my Evo 4G, and I changed ROMs as well. My battery seems to be draining at 1% per 30 seconds. I can't make an hour on a 3500MAh battery. It doesn't seem to matter what ROM I try to run.
So my question is this: Is my battery the problem or is there a problem with the Radio, PRI, or some other nonsense that is running crazy and draining the battery?
Thanks!
have u tried a custom kernel? what rom are you on right now?
check battery usage, menu-settings-about phone-battery. Also download Spare Parts, go to battery history and see if any apps are hogging the battery.
The display is using 82% of the battery. This wasn't the case when I was running Android 2.2. Now that I am on 2.3.3 it seems like the display is hogging the battery. I would like to use a custom kernel that is best for battery life. Can anyone tell me which to use? I am using MikG's ROM v2.15, I think. My info is Android 2.3.3, HTC Sense 2.1, Software 4.24.651.1, PRI 1.77_003, PRL 01115 and Baseband 2.15.00.09.01. I have the display set to turn off after 15 seconds, so I have no idea why the display could be using so much battery life when it sits off in my holster most of the time. My job is being oncall 24/7, so battery life is a must. Can anyone help me solve this please? Thanks!

Also could be an issue with the battery itself. Can you try a different battery? Is the extended battery one of the Hong Kong variety? Have you tried wiping battery stats?
Sorry dude so far there are no custom kernel for any sense 3.0 roms yet cuz htc hasnt released the source code for their kernels yet but when you flash a sense 3.0 rom it has bad battery life for a few days but later the rom gets very good battery life...

That is true, took my friend's phone 2 1/2 days for the battery to settle in.

It says Sense 2.1 though. I don't even know what this Sense nonsense (haha) is. My previous ROMs didn't use it. Maybe I should switch to a non-Sense (haha again) ROM? Or are there Sense 2.1 kernels available?

Actually I did change the battery. I used two different 1500MAh batteries and one 3500MAh battery. I heard it was the PRI and it needed to be switched to version 1.77? I have that, but it still seems to suck. I did wipe the battery stats, so maybe wiping the stats caused the issue? I was told it would make the battery work better. So confused...

Heavy battery drain on Gingerbread

Hey Guys,
I've been trying out many roms in the last time and I've noticed that on every Gingerbread rom, the battery drain is much higher than on Froyo roms. That's weird, because I constantly hear of people's battery life getting better after switching to Gingerbread.
On Froyo, the standby consumption is at 5 mA. On Gingerbread it's 75 mA. On Froyo, I can surf the internet for 10 minutes and nothing changes, on Gingerbread the battery would lose 5%. With regular use, when the phone is full in the morning, it's almost every day empty 8 hours later.
I just want to have a Gingerbread Wildfire with decent battery life. I tried many roms, and even on CM7, battery life is horrible. Even on a clean install without any apps. What is going on there? Is it maybe the radio? Or the kernel? Do you experience similar drain?
Maybe CPU?
I dont know if this will help but Gingerbread roms often have overclock settings, have you used the overclock feature because this would most definatly reduce your battery life but otherwise im not too sure but i must say i was using Oxygen (Gingerbread) on my wildfire and the battery life was very bad compared to stock ruu roms, sorry if i didnt help :S
Any idea? Im about to upgrade to the gingerbread.

I know about that, but I don't overclocked my Wildfire. Just because the battery drain is heavy enough on regular CPU speed.

Just upgrade and see yourself, I heard about many Wildfire users with Gingerbread who got better battery performance than on Froyo. Unfortunately, I ain't one of these
After a new flash it's usual to have battery drain. After a few charges it will buff out.

underclocking ur cpu is a propable way to go. actually using conservative governor in cpu settings, may help your battery efficiency. but before doing this, search for a thread concerning this matter. u can always give it a shot and see for yourself, decide later if you want to keep gingerbread or not.

Need best battery rom. NEED TO KNOW BY 9a.m.

Right. So a friend of my friend made me root his phone a while back and I threw mikg 2.52 on it and all was good. Now the guy contacted me today and said his battery life was in the crapper and wants me to change it to something more battery life favored since he isn't by a charger for a long time throughout the day. And since I have been using the new ics roms and jumping back and forth often I don't really know what to give him now.
So what's your opinions? I need something stable as a rock and best battery possible. I need this to last him a while since I almost never see this guy... Haha
P.s. I know people hate these kind of post. Just bear with me here because I'm meeting this guy tomorrow morning and have to know what I should flash for him. Also no aosp please.

You could have him try the one in your sig. It gave me great battery life when I used it, but as always, YMMV. You really have to try them out and see which gives the best battery life for you.
Also could try apps like Juice Defender or similar that aim to optimize battery life.
The only rom i can think of that ive used that doesnt drain your battery would be cm7 or decks gb. Ive used it myself & ive seen good battery life even with my cpu overclocked.
Does it work on viper rom? V2 redline? Thanks! Please let me know
I have the latest MIUI by Swiper, and since 2.2.6, my battery life has been phenomenal with Tiamat kernel 4.1.0, Car-O-Dope tweaks and Vipermod -50.
Phenomenal as in comes off the charger at 6AM and when I get home from work at 5, it's still over 80%

I can confirm this.. ALthough I use 2.3.2 b1 and 3.3.7 sbc kernel as I had some reboot issues with 4.1.0 but yeah.. I'm still at 100 percent at 11:00 am (work at 8).. come home and still at 90. go to bed and hit the charger right above 80. It's unreal.. I consider myself a heavy user too... email, sms, phone calls... etc.
I am currently using Swiper's 2.3.2 b1 with 3.3.7 sbc and have not run into any issues. Battery life is great with this combination for me. Also, keep in mind that I do not run many widgets except an calendar agenda widget.
Myn's Warm series rom's always gave me the best battery life.
i use energy sense 3.5 rom with anthrax kernel. iv had decent battery life w it. about 14 hours or so w moderate use and in and out of roam looking for signal. from what iv read CM7 and MIUI roms are much better with battery life than sense roms. they also seem to be more customizable.

80% at night with heavy use throughout the entire day? I can't believe that. Screenshot? If someone else can validate this, I might try the rom with LEE kernel.

He did mention no AOSP (although AOSP really does have the best battery life IMHO)
Koni's Elite Series III combined with netarchy-toastmod HAVS-less had decent battery life, only issue is that was a Froyo build.
kluster1999: I agree, pic would be awesome.
I don't mean to sound rude, but different ROM and kernel combinations can only make so much of a difference. I'm skeptical of claims of amazing battery life with heavy usage because in the end, the battery is still the same size and the large screen still draws a lot of power.
Been having great Battery life with "The Exress" using" Lionfish more" kernnal and smurfed out....
