Yesterday the background light from my BA stoped work, and now it only turn on when its on charger? its the screen? or the battery? someone get trough this? help please!
there are 2 things you need to check:
1. when the device is switched on and running on battery power, press and hold the power button. that should normally switch the backlight back on.
2. you should check your backlight settings at start->settings->system->power->backlight or something comparable depending on your rom

I jus remove the battery and change the Sim Card.
The backup battery keeps it all in place until i get the main in.
As for the screen, there is no official "Shut down" unlike other PDA's, it just goes into a deep form of Hibernation.
thnx. i was thinking there was like a shutdown like in most celphones. this is my frst xda. thnx man!
i think its same with all BA.
i think someone should find its solution.
Turn all the radios off: like phone, wifi, bluetooth and activesync ect. basically everything in the comm manager.
Then press the off button, yes the LED blinks still but you only lose ~0-1% of the battery with 8 hours in this state.
Its as near as we can get to "off" but it will do
yeah...BA can't be turned off. It can only be put in deep hibernation since it does not have a hard drive.
ooops I did it again..sorry double post
Shutdown possible
A shutdown is possible of the BA in a particular situation :
Unlock the battery in the back of the BA while holding the battery for not to fall
Then lock it again : it remains shutdown.
Please note that this won't work if you have your BA plugged to your PC with USB cable. In that case, you have to keep the battery unlocked without locking it again, since locking it will turn it on.

Hi.
HTC Blue Angel won't go to standby (sleep) mode when i press the power button.
Here's what i've tried alredy:
- soft reset
- hard reset
- reformat
- reflash
The power button electricaly is working since i can wake the device and toggle backlight with it. The sleep mode is operational since the device automaticaly timeouts to the sleep mode (power management).
Now the most intriguing part: this has happen to TWO of my Blue Angels at the SAME TIME. One with WM2003 and the other with WM6.
The WM6 was my primary unit while the WM2003 was just lying in the drawer.
When the WM6 unit gone mad i took out the MW2003 one just to find out it has the same problem. While i did instaled some software on the MW6 one i haven't installed anything on the MW2003.
Any help apriciated. Thanks in advance.

when you say sleep mode you mean the screen goes to blank and the backlight turns off...right?
try pushing the button longer

Yes, the mode where PDA is turned off (apps are hibernated) but GSM radio is still on standing by for incoming calls/messages.

That's pointless. This device has backligh turned on/off that way, not the OS. When everything was ok, a short push was enought to trigger the "standby" function. (once again i remind that the button is electricaly ok)
Thanks for reply, waiting for ideas,
Bushman
MINE TOO
that happens to me too andthe keyboard smtyms hangs until you press the windows button
I have pressed each and every key on the device multiple times, nothing helps
I had the same problem.
The reason was one of the keys beside the display.
In older PPCs these buttons tend to get short-circuited.
My solution was to reassemble the BA and clean the buttons.
Thank you for the tip, i will clean the buttons and check connections to the mainboard and post results.
Thumbs up!
Bushman
EDIT:
Thanks for the tip!!! One is fixed. The other one still doesn't work like it should but now i have a clue where to search for it.

Ihad to pimp my BA and it happends to mee
And the button record remains pusshed ll the time
it can let the power off works
I just
break the button
and voila! it works again...!
good luck.
Well... before realizing the problem was the power button/switch I read another posts about batteries, so i bought a brand new one and let the phone charge.
The thing is that the battery is at 100% and the only way to make the phone turn on is by taking off and puting on the battery and most of the times it works, not always. Then i get to the home screen and it turns off by itself. Only once i could keep the phone on without shutting down automatically. If I try to turn it off or on by the power button it does not respond. Any Suggestions?
Pls, not a single answer...

You can't do much if your power button is broken, sorry. There is no way you can power up your phone
Hi,
Like some other members here, i also have three button issue with my phone. I have tried so many ways and results were inconsistent, it would work some time and will not work other time. But here is a procedure that is working for me always. Give it a try and see if it works for some of you.
1. Turn off the phone
2. Plug in charger (It does not matter even the charger was plugged in when u tuned off the phone.)
3. Wait for battery signal to appear the one with partial green fill.
4. At this point press home volume up and power button in sequence.
5. you will see SGS screen. Keep all the button presses at that time.
6. After some time battery icon will appear. this time it will be gray one with no green fill.
7. keep all button pressed. gray battery icon will disappear and will appear second time.
8. Wait for 1-2 second and before second time grey battery icon disappear release power button and keep home and battery button pressed.
9. wait for some good luck.. you should see recovery screen.
And it could be just me. but it works for me all the time.
Thanks
that is because your phone is not defective
your phone did not have the 3 button mode disabled
No I have thee button issue. I would not work other wise.
I tried this, Volume Up + Home + Power got me to a "Forced Upload by Key pressing" screen, but no recovery. Vol Down + Home + Power just kept looping me back to the battery with no SGS screen
This is from a UK model i9000 with 3 button disabled.

Did U follow the exact sequence with charger plugged in ...
Then it may be just for I9000m Model... or just my phone..
It worked for me.. so i wanted to share it.. in case it helps other..
That's not gonna help you if you flash a ROM in way that your phone wont boot to even the battery screen. I've done it, luckily my SGS is not locked out.

So I release the power button and then... hold the power button? I'm confused.
Even if I wait the few seconds and release power, volume up, or any combination of buttons it just pops me back to the battery screen. No access to recovery.

I just tried again ..works for me all the time..
So u released the power button when second time battery icon appear ?? make sure you release power button before the battery icon disappear second time..
If no luck.. the only thing I can conclude is that Samsung has no consistency in hardware design...

If you can get into download mode, you don't have any kind of 3 button issue. Your phone is fine, you just need to work on your timing in order to get into recovery mode.
There is nothing wrong with your phone.
Hi everyone,
I'm posting this thread because I'm heaving a problem with the On/Off switch of my phone... Since yesterday it doesn't work anymore, so when I push it down, nothing happens...
Yesterday, the power-controll menu (the one who appears when you push the swith down for a couple of seconds) appeared now and then, and my phone randomly switched on and off, so I'm thinking this may be a hardware issue...
My problem here is that I bought the phone in a store that's far away from where I live, so I can't just go and bring the phone for repair... But in the meantime I can't turn my phone on... The only way I can turn on the screen is when I connect it to a power source or when someone calls me.
I've searched the interwebs for software that may help me (something like a button remapper, so that I could use the central button for example as on and off switch) but that's only for rooted devices, and mine isn't...
Any propositions ?

Well actually yes, the device was on but it turned off because of the battery... Luckily, I managed to restart the device by plugging it into the power source and remove/putting back the battery several times...
I noticed now that my battery is draining really fast, the phone can't hold a day of normal usage
