Im new to Android, just upgraded from a Blackstone to a Desire this week.
Im trying to figure out how to disable the HTC `basic` lockscreen that appears, with the lower curved bar and notifications. I want to just have the gesture lock when i power on, and not have to thumb down the first lock bar to get to a second lockscreen.
how can i get rid of it ?
I'm just looking for this myself... no luck so far but if I do, I'll post my findings
You can use NoLock. Unfortunately it does what it says. It disables locking. This way, all key will wake the phone!
Bump.
I'm looking for a solution to this very same problem. NoLock won't help because it also disables the lock pattern. So how to disable lockscreen and just leave lock pattern?

OK...
The locks on my phone are very redundant to say the least.
In order to get to my home screen I have to do the following:
1. Press the button on top of the phone.
2. Slide the first lock down.
3. Draw in my security code to get past the lock out.
Step 3 can be shut on and off but I like this security so people can't mess with my phone. However considering I have to do step 1 before and step two also, it seems a tad over kill.
Can I disable step 2, the slide down lock screen?
Basically when I press the button on the top of the phone I want to be RIGHT at the screen where I draw in my lock pattern and or hit emergency call. I was unable to find anything in the settings. Did I miss it or is it really not there? If it's not there is there any other way to do it?
I'll fully rooted if that helps.
Try "No Lock" in the Market. It gets rid of the lock screen (and has a toggle widget). Not sure the effect on the security though.
No Lock gets rid of both the slide to unlock and the security passcode entry. Very handy if you don't care about security, but you get your mail from an Exchange server and they force you to have a security password.
Don't know how to just get rid of the slide to unlock.
i have a droid incredible with the same setup..sorta...i am running virtuous2.7
have u found a way to do this without No Lock?
You can do exactly what you're asking for with Switch Pro widget

To verify my understanding, the OP wants to, on his Evo, disable the Sense drag/slide-down screen lock, and only use the pattern lock.
The problem is that the Sense lock remains even when the pattern lock is enabled. (Unlike the Nexus 1, the AOSP screen lock is automatically disabled when pattern lock is enabled).
Are you indicating that Switch Pro Widget will DISABLE the Sense slide-down lock while maintaining the pattern lock?

Would like to know, as my buddy was asking me about this.

If you use cyanogen rom, add power control widget and add the lockscreen option. Any time that widget is off when you hit the power button to unlock the phone you will go straight to pattern lock or home screen if you don't have one.

I would pay for an app/widget that handled this...
delete the sense lockscreen from the phone, it's just a file you can remove. Once you do that the system reverts to the standard aosp lock screen (or the pattern if you have security set).

I'm aware of this mod. People should be aware that you will need root access to delete the file. At the same time, I read that even with the AOSP/standard/vanilla lock screen, it (the standard lock screen) does NOT go away when the pattern lock is ENABLED.
For the Nexus 1, the standard lock DOES go away when pattern is ON, but it does not seem so with the Evo.
Can someone verify/dispute?
Thanks.
I can verify that after deleting the HTClockscreen.apk from my phone Vanilla lock appeared after a reboot. I then enabled a pattern lock only to find the Vanilla lock still necesary before getting to the pattern lock screen.

Thanks. 1st post for CzarMat!!! Exactly my point--we need to find a way to make the Vanilla lock go away when pattern lock is enabled. But how??
This is all a bit redundant if the OP has Exchange security enabled on his device, which he has yet to clarify (unless I missed something).
I'd like an answer to this also...
Post 2.2, I was able to use No-Lock from the market to do exactly what the OP is asking. I have an Exchange account with a Security Policy (PIN) in place and have since upgraded to 2.2. It's a little redundant that I have to hit power, slide to unlock, then enter pin.
My workaround, for now, is setting the PIN lock screen to enable after 5 minutes, however I still have to slide regardless - UGHH, annoying.
I just want it to work the way I had it before with 2.1
is there any way to edit or app that enables a longer time period before the lock pattern screen comes up? LIke i think the max is like 15min
I want to be able to at least set the lock pattern screen to a 1hr interval, maybe 2hr
is this possible somehow?
Well, you can hit the "menu" capacitive button instead of sliding for a quicker unlock to the pattern security screen. That's what I normally do since it's a bit of finger acrobactics from the power button->aosp slide unlock->pattern screen.

I agree. Apparently this is possible, I'm working on a solution right now. Perhaps an app I can release to the market. It will essentially unlock the phone for you - you may see a bit of the lock the second you unlock the phone, but if things go according to plan it will automatically bypass the slide lock for you.
[edit:] Sorry for the zombie thread revival - Still trying to find a solution for this problem.

Excellent news! Still looking for a solution. I think simulating a "menu" press will unlock the screen. Looking foward to it. Thanks!!
anyone come up with a solution for this?
Does anyone know how to disable the vanilla slide to unlock screen but keep something like the pattern lock on??? I've tried no lock from the market, but my pattern lock wouldn't come on. It's kind of retarted to have to slide to unlock the screen and enter a pattern lock. Thanks for any help.
btw, I'm running Calkulin's v.1.1 ROM.
Thought I'd try one more time to get it to the top? Anyone? Thanks.

Doesn't he have the zip file on the 1st page of his thread?
What thread are you talking about? I,m a search dummy, I can't find anything about this stupid lock. Are you referring to Calkulins thread?
Sent from my EVO using XDA App
I got the zip, flashed it and how I have the older slide left/right lock, still I have to do that before I get my pattern. Ugh this is a pita lol. I just want the single pattern lock when I turn my screen off.

on CM6
the PIN and PWD option presents the user with the SlideLock...then the SecurityLock then the desktop.
the ZigZag option presents the user with the PatternLock then desktop.
I'm not running CM6....are those settings found in that rom? Is there no other way to just get the patter lock and no vanilla lock???

I know you can use switchpro to disable the lock screen but I've never tried it in conjunction with the pattern lock so I don't know of it would do what you're looking for but it's worth a shot.
I use switchpro, I'll give it a go and post back.
*edit- Yep! It does exactly what you're looking for So use switchpro to disable the lock screen and when you hit the power button to wake the phone up it goes directly to the pattern lock

Is your lock screen the Sprint slide-down lock or the standard/vanilla lock? I ask because, with Switch Pro, it either unlocks both, or enables both (with the Sprint HTC slide-down lock).
Thanks.
didn't worked on Xperia x10 =(
Just wanted to add that disabling the lock screen with switch pro is awesome. I can't believe I never found that before.
Also, if you want to have ur volume buttons wake ur phone, try widget locker. Enable widget locker, then enable any hardware button wake, then use switch pro to disable screen lock then disable widget locker. Bam, volume key wake w/o lock screen, pure awesomeness.
Hey... I think this thing makes phone calls too!
I have two lock screens now. One with Sense UI lock (drag to unlock) and my pattern as the second lock screen.
I know this has been a problem with Sense before.
Is it possible to just have one lock screen, my pattern.
Phone: HTC Espresso: myTouch 3G Slide
Rom: CR_Mod_2.13.531.1 OTA Rooted
Radio: 7.15.35.16
I didn't think that was a problem, lol. I thought that was how Sense worked. Or atleast the MyTouch version.
Can't say I've see a way to have what you're asking for though :/
I actually have a similar, yet opposite question. Im currently running CM6.1.1 and would like to have the two lock screens instead of one. I use a pattern lock but would like to have the Slider locks creen come up before I'm asked to input my pattern since sometimes all I want to do is switch from Vibrate to Sound or check the time. (I know the pattern screen has the time but the slider screen looks better)
Any help would be appreciated
I know that when there is no secure lock screen (pattern, pin etc), the notification bar can be pulled down.
Is it possible to access the notification bar when the lock screen is secured with pattern on CM10?
I tried it the cna rom and you can't pull it down when you have a pattern lock screen, it'll probably be the same on cm10, otherwise you could pull it down and access the settings menu and that would be quite the security snafu.
It's this way on purpose. How would a lock screen be at all useful if you could bypass it by pulling down the notification bar?

Understandable but what about this: I've got an HTC One S with no hard camera or search button. My sms app allows quick create popups on the locscreen via:
-long press of camera button
-long press of search button
-icon on lockscreen
Since the first 2 are of no use to me, I can only use the 3rd option....but I can't since due to job email security, I must enable a passcode.
Is there a way to get around this? I know how much the iOS vs Android thing irritates ppl but I was able to do this with iRealSMS (iOS) and miss it dearly. If a pass code was enabled, you could still send SMS but if you actually tried to get into the app, you were presented with the pass code screen.
I have my Screen lock set to "Swipe" (the default) but I feel it's too easy to unlock the phone. As well as swiping where it says "Swipe up or down to unlock", you can also pull down the notifications menu and then go into Settings and press the Back button (which unlocks the phone rather than going back to the lock screen, which is the behaviour I would expect and want). Also, if I swipe across to the camera and press the Back button, this also unlocks the phone (again, I expect it to go back to the lock screen).
However, if I change the Screen lock to Pattern or PIN, the lock screen actually functions as expected and I cannot pull down the notifications menu or leave the lock screen via the camera.
Is there any way of replicating this behaviour with the Screen lock set to "Swipe"? In other words, I want to swipe to unlock, but I don't want to be able to pull down the notifications menu or leave the lockscreen unless I have actually swiped to unlock.
Well I think this is the standard and right behavior for all phones. It was the case with the GS2 too. There's no point in disabling accessing the notifications menu when there aren't any locks. It's only makes sense when you lock your device with pattern or pin.
Unfortunately I don't know any apps or modification that can help.

Hmm, OK - thanks for the information. The point is that it is too easy to accidentally unlock the phone - the lock screen should, well, lock the phone. I guess I could have a pattern or PIN unlock but it should be an option to have the same behaviour with swipe.

widget locker has pretty fine control over that sort of thing, including a disable notification bar toggle. i'm not sure if that actually works, though: i'm using delayed lock as well and that overrides some things.
