Any keyboard mod for japanese characters? - Desire General

Hi!!
I got gifted a sim free HTC desire from UK and got it working with softbank. The problem is that I can't use the japanese websites like norikae because I need to input the japanese charaters. Is there any keyboard for japanese available for HTC desire?

Yes, try Simeji or OpenWnn plus. Both are free and available in the market.

Currently on vacation in Japan, I tried a Japanese Desire at Bic Camera and it comes with a keyboard similar to OpenWnn for Japanese input.

If you are rooted:
I got the Softbank IME from the latest Android 2.2 update. You can find it on my website.
Not much difference to the old version.

@BeeGee_Tokyo, thanks for sharing!
Is it possible to just install the .apk file from the archive though?

Unfortunately the apk alone is not enough. There are several lib files that are needed on addition.
But you can try OpenWnn plus from the market. Almost the same.
Sent from my Desire boosted by Oxygen ROM and ZEAM launcher.

English version sales in HK

The English version sales in Hong Kong this time has multiple language input method. All UI is in English but on the keyboard there is a key for user to switch between Chinese & English input method. The English fonts is standard Tahoma but the Chinese fonts is AR HeiU20 Medium (grey) which is very ugly. I suggest any user change the Chinese Fonts and I found that SC_Song is the best.
Moved Post To General Forum.
Especially with the title i can't directly see if it needs to be in Rom Development?

I think the default Chinese font is fine.
But if you want some Chinese fonts, contace me, I can send you some since I'm using Chinese Vista plus English MUI.
To change the font, just put the font in "\Windows" and make some changes in "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink"

Hey, I like how HTC applied new chinese input methods for english systems. But they didn't provide any transcribe method. Any good software suggestions? Will CE-Star conflict with the new input methods? Thanks for any help!

Did you mean Chinese hand-writing IME ?
Though I rarely use, but I‘ve got some, like 漢王手寫(HangWang Hand-writing), 三星手寫(SAMSUNG), 蒙恬手写(PenPower), etc..
of course when you search for these IMEs, you'd better Google them with Chinese keywords or it will return less results.
BTW: In fact, I'm now using the Chinese font in official Diamond ROM on my Pro2. It's better than the default Chinese font.

Hey, thanks! Nice to talk to members with the same backgrounds. He he he... Your information is very useful.
What's the difference in the fonts? Is the Diamond one better? any screen dumps?
Did you guys get a CE-Star install CD with your English version TP2?
hi, Singaporean Chinese here. We have the A4 chinese input method installed by default on the Rhodium. Noticed that I cannot input 'PinYin' using the hardware Qwerty keyboard and have to use the touchscreen kb.
How about HKG? Do you have the same software? If yes, is this a software limitation?

Nope, didn't get the CS-Star CD. Because you are able to use the keyboard to input chinese words.
You have 4 options:
1. ZhuYin
2. PinYin
3. CangJie
4.Stroke
I don't know why they didn't provide a transcribe version, so I can just write on the screen. I am no good with the keyboard.
I want to install CE-Star but don't know if it will conflict with current Chinese inputting methods.

Try installing CE-Star v2.8 R3c.
From what I read previously, Diamond2 was bundled with CE-Star despite having Chinese support, but I don't know anyone with one in person to confirm this.

Help me! Japanese language native IME

I need the IME for Japanese language on my HTC desire. I have used various apps, like simeji, but have found them insufficient for my needs.
AFAIK there is a good IME in the Samsung Galaxy S 2. Is it possible to somehow rip it from that and use it on the Desire HD? Please help me, it is the only thing I don't like about my DHD!
Have you tried iwnn?

Cant change to UK locale on 2.3 HTC Rom.

I have run the HTC development ruu on my unbranded desire and I can't change the locale to UK. It shows on date and time that I am in the correct time zone but under languages and keyboard its still set to English US. Is there any way of changing this?
Now that you mention it I remember that before installing the Scandinavian keyboard and the Swedish dictionary from the market, the default keyboard AND dictionary was US English.
I didn´t pay too much attention because there are no Scandinavian keyboards in the earlier versions and so I always install this from market. The difference is that in Froyo there was at least a Swedish dictionary, even if it was a bit rudimentary.
Perhaps this is one of the things cut down to save space. There must be some keyboards and dictionaries you can install from the market I suppose.
The problem that i have is weird, i am set to UK time and location but for some reason as the language is set too US English i cant access the UK Android Market or the UK Amazon MP3 market. I would have thought that as my location was set to UK i would get UK based stores/apps?
Does anyone know how i would go about changing it to UK?
Any help is much appreciated.

Hi - hope you're still getting notifications of this, but can you confirm that sorted out your issues with the UK Android Market? I've just done pretty much the same thing with the Gingerbread update and noticed it didn't have English (United Kingdom) so Play Store is saying some apps can't be installed in my country, when they were installed fine before flashing.
Thanks
John

Hebrew HTC Sense Keyboard

Hello all
This is my first post here.
I bought a new HTC One X from amazon.co.uk and installed Revolution HD 9.2.0
I was happy to see that it has so many languages, but it lacks Hebrew.
I don't mind that, I hate Hebrew OS anyway.
But, even after the Revolution HD installation, I couldn't find the HTC Sense keyboard with Hebrew layout in it.
I had to download Swype keyboard, which is pretty nice, but I would prefer the real deal.
Is there any stock/kernel/something that will give the HTC Sense keyboard a Hebrew layout, or should I buy the phone in Israel itself?
Thanks to all the readers and helpers,
Liron
Sorry, does not exist.
Even in original "Touch-Group" ROMS (or custom ARHD) with a full Hebrew interface the Sense keyboard doesn't have Hebrew.
It is a huge bummer for Israeli users, but given how there's so few of us, I doubt HTC give an eff.
It doesn't have to do with numbers, otherwise there would an Arabic layout, which there isn't...

Maybe it's geographical. There are some obscure as hell languages there.

Genuine Sogou keyboard international

Hello,
on the china rom there's a Sogou keybaord wich i really like, but i thing though:
Its in chinese, with chinese symbols everywhere....
Is there someone who can help me get this keyboard in international settings, perhaps with dutch language also ?
I'm not sure if that can help you, but I've found this thread:
http://en.miui.com/thread-316098-1-1.html
I rather liked the Sony Xperia keyboard on my old Sony, which is sadly not available in the google play for non Sony phones.
But there is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-sony-xperia-keyboard-phones-t3346736
Tested it on my 5s and it works
Also there is the official Google Keyboard which you can install (if you have Play installed), in which you find most if not all languages.
solved
I just discovered the even better keyboard Swiftkey, it's also free and not limited to Sony phones: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey&hl=en

Thanks for the input, I'm trying sony's kb now and tried swiftkey in the past. But first choice will be sogou
Sent from my MI 5s using XDA Premium HD app
I'm using this keyboard:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-aosp-android-keyboard-5-rows-row-t3142784
(Download flashable v2)
Install on recovery. Delete /system/app/latinimegoogle folder first, you can do it on the TWRP's file manager.
Its a lot faster than Gboard/Google keyboard, and much simpler than swiftkey.
