A2SD cause reboot in loop. - Desire General

Hello all,
First, excuse me for my bad english (I m French) and Thanks for the proceed Paul, you're great.
I m rooted my DESIRE last night and no pb after that.
My pb is when I want apply "r1-a2sd-desire-signed.zip" for expanding the memory.
This operation work fine in recovery mode, but when I reboot (or halt and on), my desire reboot in loop at moment where it displays "quietly brillant".
When I re-appliqued the "Wipe data /factory reset" and "routed_update.zip", my desire will works fine.
I tried, other SDcard (16 an 8 Go), other file (eventually corrupted), several time (eventually unlucky) ... Without success!
Anyone have an idea?
Thanks in advance.

Also make sure you partition the sd card from the linux recovery menu on the phone.

Thank You, but unfortunately same result, have another ideas?
PS: in time, I m atempt of re-rooted with R3 method, whit little lucky...

You need to install the update found at the bottom of the first page there.
Should fix the looping.

Ext4 is not supported, if I remember correctly.
Only ext2 or ext3.

Helped me. Cheers mate!
I was getting the dreaded boot-loop using ext4. I read that the guy who built the Davlik version of a2sd (which I am using) uses ext4 so it never occured to me that the filesystem might be the problem

[Q] LeeDriod 2.5 Boot loop help on HTC Desire

Hi, I have full root and S-OFF enabled on my phone.
Im trying to load the 2.5 version of LeeDroid found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768703
Once installed, it shows the boot screen, then the "android boot screen" appears, sits there for 10-15 secs, and it automatically reboots, it will not get any further, any ideas?
Thanks!
Go to recovery, full wipe, reflash, reboot.
But post in the desire forum next time . There are more people that can help you.

Thanks, I tired that, did a full wipe & reflash, no luck.
Hi.
I just had a thought, do I need a have a partition on my SD card for ext2/3 before installing this rom? I currently have 2 primary partitions, the 2nd partition is used by link2SD app.
Appreciate any help!
Thanks
Yes, you need a ext3/4 partition (what ever the requirements are) and FAT32 on your SD card. Just use recovery to do it, so simple.
Thanks, Ive created a 700MB EXT3 partition, and the rom loaded fine.
Only issue is that using a disk usage app, the data storage only shows up as 237MB? I thought it would be 700MB, as thats the size of my partition?
Thanks
All sorted thanks!

[Q] nervous newbie with basic questions.

Hi all. Sorry for these basic questions. I only just now got round to rooting, s-off, partitioned my SD card and downloaded a new ROM (latest Leedroid)
I followed this excellent video tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
Now very nervous about the final steps;
Are EXT partitions backwards compatible, ie: EXT4 ok to use as EXT3 and so on?
(I formatted my SD card with a EXT4 but the ROM I want to use says EXT3)
Do I have to re-install all my apps again once the new ROM is loaded, and what about the ones I bought? How to re-license them?
Finally, is the Baseband the same as the Radio (or where do I find Radio info on phone)
Thank you for any help.
EXT4 is faster than ext3. I am pretty sure, as long as it's an rom which is not too old it will also support ext4. A search through the rom's corresponding thread might help.
Just backup and restore your apps with titanium backup. The license from bought apps should be backed up and restored. Never read about someone who has problems at this point. If you really have problems, contact the dev of the app.
Yes, baseband is just another name for radio. You find out your one in Settings > About Phone.
Before you flash your new ROM install titanium backup. Do a batch backup of all of your apps and app data. That way, once you've flshed your new ROM you can just install titanium backup again and reinstall all of your apps and data as they'll be stored on your sd card.
As for bought apps, they should still be available anyway as they're linked to your google account. So as long as you sign in to google on your new ROM with the same account the market should recognize that you've already bought them and make them available for you again.
If it helps...
Thanks for your reply.
Say that I want to be sure and create a EXT3 partition as instructed, do I still need to keep EXT4 I created on rooting procedure?
You dont need EXT4 for Rooting (you dont need any EXT partition for this at all)
Either keep it, or delete and make EXT3 its up to you, EXT4 is slightly faster though.

When you followed the Desire rooting guide you mentioned did you follow step five? If you did then you will have partitioned your sd card with ext4. Basically you only need two partitions on your sd card at any time. So now you have ext4 & fat32 (the main part of your sd card will always be fat32, with a recommended 1gb of ext3 or ext4).
If you check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16808961#post16808961on you'll see that you can use ext3 or ext4 with Leedroid HD 3.3.3.
If you do want to get ext3 then just run GParted again (step 5 in the guide) and this time select ext3 instead of ext4.
Hope it helps.

I did follow step 5 and have a 1GB of EXT4 already created. I shall leave it as it is.
Is Leedroid HD 3.3.3 safe to use as a first time custom ROM?
Thanks for your help and ALL the replies.

I haven't tried Leedroid myself, but from browsing the thread it has some good reviews. Closest one I've tried is InsertCoin, but it's all about trying a few and seeing what you like.
Glad I could help.
LeeDroid is safe for a first custom rom. Rather fast and have minimal lag.
Just to say thanks to all that helped / replied.
I went ahead and installed LeedRoid 3.3.3 successfully.
Took a little gamble on the radio update as the instructions did not seem to match my set-up but all is working well.
Might need to look for a ROM with bigger text size as my eyes are struggling
Cheers all

Get roms based on Saga or Bravo? The text should be bigger.

Thanks for help.
BTW: I am from slovakia so I dont know if is my english good.
There is a Q and A section right over HERE!!!!
Please post questions in the general section,,,,,,,,,,
Next....How did you partition your SDcard? Was it via recovery or any other software??? Have you tried powering it on when the SDcard is not inserted??
I partition it with MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition with some tutorial. When I start phone without SDCard it boots and it tell me:
System UIDs Inconsistent
UIDs on the system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable.
I am feeling lucky.
I saw the logcat too....... Although I'm no dev I can tell that there is a problem because of link2sd....... Try creating an ext partition via CWM recovery and choose EXT3 in link2sd

Hi everyone. At the start i want to say i'm a complete noob. I'vo got root and everything needed. So i partitioned my card(4gb) in Minitool wizard. Everything is fine but still i've got only 14mb free. I installed link2sd and still the same. Then i tried to partition it in cwm and still is the same! i tried to install Data2sdV2withA2sdremover_by_jikantaru.zip for cm9 but it stopped at htc logo. Thank God i had a backup. I don't know how to do it that the partition size will appear in the internal memory. I tried everything but s**i. PLEASE HELP ME :crying: One more time i am a COMPLETE N00B.

OK try this get SDFormatter v3.1 and format the card to FAT32(quick format is fine) with format size adjustment ON.
Replace card in fone and then use cwm recovery to create any ext partition you require.
Hope it works.

No, you will need to create an ext partition with cwm and then install some data2sd script.
Don't know what rom you are using but best to go the rom thread and see which one is best for you.
If you are on ICS it's worth reading the wiki page on data2sd.
I have always used amarultz's script without issues. There is a zip version which can be installed via cwm.

[Q] INT2EXT4+ - Same amount of internal memory

Hi all!
I just created an sd-ext partition (ext4) on my sd-card and flashed the INT2EXT4+ script, but it doesn't seem to work.
What I did:
- Go into recovery
- Mount /system
- Installed the INT2EXT4+ script from my sd-card
- Formatted the sd-ext partition
- Rebooted my phone
I've done this a couple of times, but I still have the same amount of internal memory as before I flashed the script. (Before using this script, I tried using Link2SD but that had the same problem..)
And yes, I have init.d enabled and busybox installed and the script is located in the init.d folder.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Btw, I'm using Maclaw's AOSP ICS Final 2.

Try partitioning in CWM. I got S2E to work on CM7 in this way.

I tried the script/app without repartitioning my SD-card via CWM (I did it via Minitool Partition Wizard, so I didn't have to format my sd-card first) and it still doesn't work.. Should repartitioning via CWM fix the problem?
And btw, in the app description it says "Works on Cyanogenmod........". Since I'm not using Cyanogenmod, this app shouldn't even work, right?
Sorry if I'm being dumb now... :/
Sorry but I don't know if it works on CM rom. Others may know the answer.
I also tried Minitool Partition Wizard but the phone didn't relaize the partition. Then, I tried CWM and it worked.
