.80 & Above = No root access. - Desire General

So those of us who got phones with the .80 or newer boot loaders are out of luck for now?

yes, Paul said the 0.80 bootloader could not be rooted this time. And he also said he was working on it, but he did not give ETA.

i wanna it too. I hoping for a fast solution.

How to know what bootloader i have?

Turn the phone off, then hold the back + power keys and read it from that screen (near the top).

Are only O2 germany Devices 0.80?

Softbank Japan too.

Mine 's HBoot says 0.75.
So does that mean I can root my Desire?
Thanks

yes a 0.75 can be rooted

The Asia 1.19 version is 0.80 bootloader too.

Are any UK models .80 & above?

The newer Models ALL will have it ;-)

So, none of these HTC Desire phones with the 0.80 bootloader can have the generic ROM installed either (not referring to root)? I heard that you get a version mismatch error when attempting to run the RUU (Rom Update Utility) on a phone that already has the new 0.80 bootloader installed.

Yes ive tested it u get an error all new devices will have this bootloader so there will be root soon =)

I can't update to 1.21.405.2

Hi,
My device is 1.15 and rooted. When I click "system software update" I'm always seeing checkingin, nothing more.
I want to update my device to 1.21.405.2 but I can't.
What is your suggestions?
Unroot it.
Code:
How to Unroot your HTC Desire to stock
If you Have A 0.75 Bootloader:
Generic RUU Download / Mirror #1
T-Mobile UK RUU Download
o2 UK RUU Download
3 UK RUU Download
If You Have A 0.80 Bootloader: Download
Other RUUs Avalible Here
You will need:
1. HTC Sync (For Drivers)
2. The Download Above
3. A Windows PC
4. A Goldcard (Not required for generic HTC Desires)
The Guide:
1. Make sure your goldcard is in your phone (If Required-if your phone is branded)
2. Turn your Desire on
3. Connect it to a Windows PC
4. Run the HTC RUU
5. Let it run
6. & YOUR DONE!
Okey, I understood. But which file I must the download for 0.75 or 0.80. My boot version is 0.75.
Apparently the 1st version for 0.75 bootloader, you didnt tell if your Desire is unbranded or not, so if it is, the 1st link.

I don't know what is unbranded. I bought this phone from Germany. Before I rooted I was see T-Mobile logo. After root I see HTC logo. My friend ordered for me and I think he will pay 24 month to T-Mobile Germany. Is that mean branded?
In this case which version is good for me?. I rooted this device one week ago and I tried make 1.21 OTA update but I couldn't. Phone was say: "There is no any update". I dont want to see this meassage again after unroot.
Thanks for reply.
Im not sure, maybe someone else can confim that, but it seems that yours is T-mobile branded. Im not aware though, what and if there is a difference in UK vs German version (if in the UK version the german language is missing for instance).
I don't know what t-mobile is doing, but vodafone users only got a 1.19 update OTA! So no 1.21 in germany I think. Is it not possible to unbrand the phone and install one of these RUU updates from htc? Check this in dev forum

I will do unroot, after that I will try to take OTA 1.21 update, if can't I will try manuelly do RUU 1.21 update. I hope I don'tl corrupt the phone.
Just to be in the safe side, it's best practise to perform a Nandroid backup in Recovery Mode beforehand, which you can later restore if anything does go wrong with the flash.

Ok, nondroid is okey. I did unroot, and I saw a popup about system update
Now, I'm downloading BL 0.80 files to make again unroot but I confuse, should I do again goldcard process? I did already one time before..
Yes, you will need to use the same Gold Card to flash RUU files with a different CID to your own device.

So, I have a rooted Desire with stock 1.15 fw. If I want to upgrade to stock 1.21 fw I must unroot, then install the upgrade and re-root, isn't it? But if I'll follow this sequence will I lost every application that is on the phone now? Maybe it's better waiting for Froyo or installing a modded fw?
Well i downloaded offical updated and did the updated manualy because i also did not get updated via phone
Something goes wrong.
1. I have unrooted and did OTA 1.21 update.
2. I checked bootloader version. It's 0.80
3. I have unrooted again with 0.80 and 1.21 version.
4. After that I checked sw version it was 1.15 again
5. Again I did 1.21 updated and after reebot I checked again 1.15
I can download and install OTA 1.21 update many times, but still same. What is wrong?

[Q] Debrand a T-Mobile Wildfire?

DO I just use a goldcard and download this:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buz...45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_130814_signed.exe
I'm slightly concerned that it says "HTC Buzz" rather than "HTC Wildfire". Is this normal? am I changing he phone in any way that may prevent it getting updates in the future?
I just need reassurance that HTC Buzz is the same phone as the Wildfire. Was it originally called the Buzz or something, before the marketing men got involved and rebranded it.
The reason I want to debrand is the Froyo update will arrive long before the T-Mobile one arives.
Thanks.
HTC-Buzz and HTC Wildfire are the same. Buzz is the Working-Title and Wildfire the one for sale.
Its typical for HTC-Devices.

What he said. I'm on T-Mobile too and debranded my phone in the same way, although I must say the phone doesn't boot any faster!
i shouldent update the rom to 2.2 when it comes.
wait for the rooted ver, HTC will proberly install a later harder hboot to crack on 2.2 roms.
Can I debrand my H3G UK Wildfire? Do I just have to prepare a goldcard (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572683), place it into the phone and then I will be able to downgrade a rom? Thanks in advance for reply.
Hello, it's me again. I've just tried to debrand my phone (H3G UK). I've made a gold card and downloaded that rom: RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_130814_signed.exe. I run the exe, everything was ok, and suddenly I got an error. It was error 140, something about bootloader version.
I checked bootloader version - HBOOT-0.80.0003
Is there any way to debrand my phone?
Guys, please help me.
Its the Same 140 at 1&1 wildfire. I dont can downgrade. Can any One help Me?

The Problem is the Bootloader Ver.1.19 is newer than RU-Version 1.14, so can NOT downgrade this phone!! You can still wait for Froyo 2.2!

[Q] Desire HD back to latest stock Vodafone UK rom?

Hello people.
An android newbie here. I have beem doing quite a bit of reading on this forum, but this is my first time posting. I have looked around all over the place and I have reached a point where I am confused of how to go about the task I am wanting to accomplish. Here goes:
I bought a desire HD on vodafone last week, it had 1.75.161.2 firmware on it. I stumbled across these forums and decided to flash a custom ROM (Leedroid). I was successful a this task, but now i have a charging problem with my phone. If i understand correctly, my warranty is void with a custom ROM, so I would like to know how i could get back to my stock Vodafone ROM (1.75.161.2), also with the branded vodafone logo that used to appear before i flashed to custom ROM.
Again, sorry if there is stuff about this posted elsewhere, I have been reading, but i am really confused.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
You have to run a RUU if you want to return to stock.
I don't have any links to official RUUs atm, but check the threads in the android developement section. There should be one with vodafone branding

I have installed a Vodafone branded RUU, I have also found a Vodafone backup which I have tried. I get the branding back, but I cannot get any updates OTA. I'm now on 1.39.161.1. There clearly is a 1.75 update on Vodafone, I used to be on it and my friends are on it.
Any help for me to receive these OTA updates?
Regards
I think 1.75 was pulled by HTC at the same time as the 1.72 update, due to some major bugs.

Vodafone website states 1.75 is the latest. Last week I had 1.75 I don't think 1.75 was pulled. 1.72 was definitely pulled.

Anothe DHD noob question here. I bought a DHD off eBay and I know it is locked to Vodafone, but I'm not sure if it's branded. If I don't get the Vodafone logo when I switch it on does that mean it's not branded?
Check the firmwareversion. If it's like 1.32.405.3 it's unbranded. The important part is .405. That means that it's unbranded.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
It's 1.72.405.3
So it's unbranded but I need to downgrade in order to root and S-OFF etc?
Yes, you need to downgrade it to 1.32. But you don't need to create a gold card

Hi, I've the same problem, I need to get back to voda 1.75
First of all, did you used hboot S-OFF or radio S-OFF ?? Because if you used hboot you won't be able to recover the original boot to S-ON and your phone will be out of warranty regardless of the ROM it has installed.
As I understand it, if you've flashed the 1.39 branded RUU back to the phone that should've give you the stock vodafone recovery wich is what is needed in order to get Voda Branded OTA updates, am I right?
So I don't get why aren't you receiving the 1.75 OTA, do you have superCID?
Anyone knows if there is a 1.75 Voda RUU available somewhere to flash manually?

Hi.
Looks like we're stuck in the same boat! I have reflashed the original radio and the original hboot. Also put my cid to stock (VODAP001), and turned radio s-on. Reflashed clockworkmod recovery to original stock recovery, got the phone back to 100% the way it was when I took it out of the box, yet still I cannot get the OTA update to 1.75.161.2
I'm on 1.39.161.1, stock Vodafone UK firmware. I followed a guide off another forum (german forum) nd thanks to Google translator I managed to follow the steps. But still stuck at the OTA issue.
yep, so it seems.
Could you post the link to that thread on the german forum?
Thanks

There you go. Its the second set of instructions which i followed Have a gander.
Hi guys,
Sorry to dig this one up but I've hit a bit of a snag with my phone and could do with some assistance.
I got the phone originally with a Vodafone ROM and decided to debrand it to a plain HTC ROM - 1.72 using a de-brand pack I got from Fonefunshop. It appears that based on the fact the phone still has a Vodafone serial number but a HTC ROM I cannot receive OTA updates (I want Gingerbread ) then I need to revert back to stock. Ironically Vodafone released 2.3 earlier than HTC which was annoying to say the least.
I've been hunting round for the stock Vodafone RUU for 1.36 but I don't know if I can downgrade for starters, nor can I find any Vodafone RUU files anywhere including on here nor on Stock-ROM's.
Can anyone give me some help with this?
When I bought my phone from Vodafone on contract in November it came unbranded and unlocked. Nothing to do with Vodafone at all, apart from the CID. So if you just flash back to the stock 1.32 ROM and change the CID to the Vodafone one which I think is VODA_0001 (Dont quote me on that, its off the top of my head but there is a thread here somewhere that has it in), then make your phone S-on to get the updates.
That way you will be completely stock.
I'm in the same boat too
Flashed the non-branded software when I got the phone last year. Now I can't get the OTA update to 2.3.
Does anyone have a link the the stock 1.32 ROM and also a guide on how to change the CID and to make the phone S-on to get the updates?
Thanks
Lee

HOX unlock issue after update sense 5

Hi all,
I own a HOX Wich works extremely good, installed RUU, rooted and installed recovery much easily, since then i got a second HOX (white one) locked to orange Romania hboot 1.93 S-ON. the phone got officially updated to sense 5, when i tried to sim unlock it via unlock code based on imei, the company redeemed me the 10$ ,saying that the phone is refusing the unlock code.in addition, i unlocked my older Htc device from this same guys.
Is there a way to unlock the phone with other methods, from rooting or de-branding the phone ? is the update a source for my problem ? do i have to downgrade the base-band and kernel ?
Any Help Would be Appreciated
PS : The same unlocking company told me that there is another unlocking method at 35$, is it possible ?
I think Hboot 1.93 doesn't exist for HOX, latest Hboot for international HOX 4.2.2 with Sense 5 is 1.72.
Have you tried to get unlock code at Orange, saying you are going abroad for a while?
Think he ment 1.39

You don't require to debrand to unlock IMHO...............go word by word on the instructions on HTCdev.com, Just proceed to the steps since you have an unlockable bootloader
