How to change Keyboard Skin? Advice Please

May be I am asking this question again, but I have tried to search in the forum and unable to find any help.
Recently got XDA-Orbit, I must score it a decent device. I am stuck to change the soft keyboard, I have tried 2 from BuzzDev but no joy, it is also mentioned under the instructions that "You must be running "nocert" ROM (1.60c and above)". Any advice would be greatfull.

I'm probably not going to be much use, but there will be a dll in the windows folder on it that has the keyboard pics. The problem is that the file will be signed and if you edit it and expect to replace it you'll need to be able to re-sign it. The windows ppc sdk can help you with this; i haven't changed any myself, so i can't sorry!

Yea, i did try a keyboard skin which was signed and it worked on my wm5 prophet. So i guess, buzz's or the crossbow KB skin have to be signed in order for them to work

I used the "certification off" program which I found on the website below (near bottom of page), this allowed me to install unsigned keyboard skins to the wifes Prophet.
Maybe it'll work for you, let us know.

Thanks, i tried the Nocert cab earlier, it didnt work for me. Found a skinned KB from www.miousers.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1812 (thx to MCCUNE) which installed and worked. Wonder why the MUN's WM6 Kb is not working.
Hope we find a solution.. thanks again

It's a mortscript named homecust I beleive - but yes you copy the extracted folder to your memory card and run from there.

Could you explain this "mortscript" i have never heard or seen one of these before!!

Si, non a problema.
Motscript is a programming language, expanation from the developers page:
MortScript interprets a (quite) simple batch language. If you know .bat files in DOS or shell scripts: it's something like that. Its focus is to remote control or launch other applications, not to write real applications. I.e., you can't do complex dialogs or graphics with it.
It's more an hacker tool without a nifty interface, you have to write your scripts with any text editor.
For beginners, this might be a bit too complicated. However, it's still far more easy to use than e.g. C++.

It is kind of like a batch file, but allot more powerful, used for controling apps etc, it is editable throught a simple text editor like notepad (not that you should with out permission if ur going to release something based on this)
dont worry about the lack of explanation, i have fast reading/learning abilities lol , i think what i have written about will do for you, unless you would like to know more.
You see what you will find is that alot of people will tell you they know the answers and tell you where to look, then they usually say that they have to leave, i think this is so you read it yourself. personally i jus giv the answer straight away
EDIT: @ teknics sorry i didnt realise you had posted an explanation!!! (also i wanted to explain y sometimes people dont give answers straight away!! )

Input method auto change (choose keybord using stylus)

Hi,
I would like to share with You my little app, that I wrote to make using HTC easier and more comfortable. With this app You can assign finger friendly keybord when stylu is In, and small keyboard for stylus when it is out. Unfortunately it works only on devices with stylus sensor like HD, Diamond, Touch Pro, SE X1 (I hope it works, I've tested with BlackStone only). If you have some suggestions, ideas or if You run this app on other devices please let me know.

I've updated apllication to version 1.1.2
New features:
- support landscape mode
- up to four screen keyboard support
I hope it'll be usefull.

nice app...i'm sure it will help me, as it seams that my touch hd keep changing input keybord completely randomly and with no logic whatsoever so will give a try...hope it will bring an law and order to that mess

I've attached some screens. During system start, application is checking screen oreintation and stylus state and then deciding which keyboard should be used.

I tried the Cab file above, it really works, meaning it will change the Imput method according to stilus in or out.
But if I closed the phone or make a soft reset, the first time I want to write a message the imput method is still the standard one

You must setup program to start service with Windows.

Do you mean select the option "Run at Start up" ?
Yes I did select it but as I mentionned, after a reset or turning the mobile off, the first message I will write will open with the standard keyboard... I then move stilus in and out and it starts to work correctly until the next reset or turn off

So strange, because program is started. Maybe You are using keyboard which is loaded leter. Uncheck 'run at start' and add shortcut to autostart. After this program should start after all proceses and services.

Hi Nitro, is it possible to launch an application when you take out the stylus? I would love to have Phatpad opened when I do so, to take a quick note.
I won't mind closing it the one time I pull out the stylus in another app.

The Opera browser does it automatically. For everything else, practically every TP2 owner has installed 'Gyrator 2' or 'screenChanger' (my favourite), which are free apps utilising the G-Sensor. They run pretty much silently and allow you to configure which programs you want to rotate etc.

Yes. But only by sliding out the keyboard. You can use the G sensor, but then you have to adjust the registry.

Theres a reg hack to enable the change orientation function to be shown in the screen to change button assignments. So you can set when you hold down the send button it changes to landscape mode. And you don't have to pull out the keyboard!
I can't remember what it was mind.. but it's on these forums somewhere.

there is a reg hack on here to allow it to tilt auto in things like calender etc etc

I did the reg that doesnt need any program running and it works great. With a bit of modding I got it to do TomTom, too.
TomTom on PDA is OK, but it still doesnt have text to speach for spoken street names.

changeScreen does a better job of hiding itself than Gyrator. One day I'll use the reg hack, but I'm still in the tinkering stage where I can't make up my mind about what programs I want to rotate, so it's easier for me to use the program option right now.

That is correct. However, mine starts itself at startup and you can tell it to minimise when it starts, so you don't need to worry about starting it up all the time. It also doesn't use much memory, so you don't need to worry about that either.

Radio toggle tool

Hi everybody,
I was searching for a tool which toggles the radio, i.e. each time it starts it puts the radio on or off, the tool from VJVolubilis (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=255911) would be fine, but it also turns off the data connection, and doesn’t turn it on again, at least it behaves this way on my Acer F900.
The other tool I found has the same problem.
And now my question:
Can some give me a code sample how to switch on/ off the radio, maybe I can make the tool myself.
Please post me truly simple sample, otherwise I won’t understand it

I am by no means an expert but I think you might be able to achieve your objective with a Mortscript. There is a Mortscript examples thread so it's worth checking through that. Alternatively, look at the script options and see what you can put together.

Hi, thx for the next tool,
Well from what I see it will work (my cyrillic is really bad *haha*)
But when make a link with the phone parameter, it still shows the form, and no action is done
I modified the link to make it look like this:
38#"\Program Files\Zeugs\XroM_Switch.exe" phone
Any ideas what might be the problem?
