Voice to Text funny results - Desire General

I`ve added voice to text to my desire and also the language translate app as i`m learning spanish.
One of the first things I tried was to say "can I have a beer please". The voice to text thinks i`m saying "can I have big titties please". LOL
It results in this every time apart from one time when it replaced titties with penis!!
Apart from being funny to show people do you think someone is having an internal joke with this. can someone else try and see what they get?

lol on mine it came up "do i have a beer freeze"

I gave 2 tries (in my Pak/Indian accent), this is what came up...
1- Can I have your keys...
(2nd one made me laugh)
2- Can I have your KNEES.....LOL

I'm using the voice recognition that started working after I installed Better Keyboard and it gets my words right every time. It's amazing!!

this is great! apparently I want herpes and on the second try I apparently asked for deer penis!
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk

hmm Penis seems to be a running theme... maybe the Google server likes them lol.
my neice said, HELLO MY NAME IS MARY... and got Penis... nothing else just that.. lucky shes 15 so not the worse she heard lol...

Can i have a beer please -> genital herpes
LOL

This is the worse (or better, depends on who you ask) case of "Blind idiot" I guess.
Thanks for the laugh!
And I so gonna test this when I get my claws upon my own desire

Want app that speaks alerts

Hi, I wondered if anyone has come across an app which will speak alerts to me?
Perhaps something like "Text message from Jemima Puddleduck" and "Email from John Doe".
And preferably in a human sounding voice, not that abomination that is the standard Android text-to-speech!
Any ideas?
check out "Vlingo" or "edwin"
Just tried both, but neither does what I want :-(

you won't find any. An app would be alot more than the usuall 0.5 to 2mb. My reason for saying that you won't find any is because the app would have to know every name (and surname!) in the world, also any nickname etc! You'd proboly find that would tell who it is just by spelling the name out letter by letter, and even that wouldn't be very smooth (tone between letters and speed).
hope this helps! good luck!

I don't know if you're right. I don't think it would take that much space. Sure it wouldn't fit in 2megs, but I reckon fifty megs would be sufficient for all known English names. That's just a figure pulled out of my arse btw!
How about a custom message tone for a person that is a recording you have made. You would have to record a message for each person you want this for, Not the most user friendly way but will do what you want.

woow, no need for that kind of sh!t anyways.. what if you have someone saved in as a nickname (Ginger, Gypsy, my 2 favorite contacts ;D) then it would not tell you who was calling you cos the app would not know how to pernounce it..
hope this helps! good luck!

sorry, I'm not exacly English anyway, so I don't understand the meaning of some lines
One of the best apps out there is called Tasker. It can do everything! One of it's tricks is you can set it up to read your text messages out.
Is quite tricky to get used to at first, but once you 'click' with it, its fantastic.
It costs £4 (which is a bargain IMO) but there is also a free 1 week trial.

Agree with Tasker, I am using it
BUT .... BUT ...
It does NOT have this say NAME feature.
Tasker can only say the phone number.
The developer plan to add this feature in the next release ... Which we don't know when ... or NEVER

Useful app... offline voicecommands

Hi,
I think there is a very useful app needed in all smartphone...and specially in the fantastic galaxy s2: the offline voicecommands.
People, like me, that have not the possibility to get always connected to the net, need the offline voicecommands like the mororola smartphones. We just need a porting of that app as the vivaldi 4season team did, but working for all the roms and in particular that app have to work...
Who is the dev that can do this for the "disconnected" community? He will help the people that need to call someone whilst is driving a car... No accidents trying to do a call whilst driving car, no money spent in a special contract to be always connected.
We need a hero!

Dont we have that already with the Built in Samsung Voice actions powered by Vlingo which also has a drive/car mode
Vlimgo requires Internet and to be honest is not greatest when dialing contacts especially if they are not typical English names.
Just do what I do as soon as I install rom, delete vlingo and put original android voicedialer.apk in system (note: not voice search) app from nexus s gingerbread or cyanogen rom. Works offline and much better for contacts recognition. Responds fine to bluetooth dial as well.

Could you post that apk please?
Here you go!
Remember put this in system/app folder with root explorer (do not install as regular apk) and remember to delete vlingo voice to go apk from there cause it will clash on bluetooth dial.
Istituto tris app multilanguage?
Is this only for dialing or sms too?
Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk
It's name is voice dialer! Ask me again if this is for dictating sms!
Or are you asking if you can start text message with this?
There's voice actions for that or vlingo or whatever but they all need to be connected to the net.
With this you can basically start any app installed on the phone with command open * (open MESSAGING or open OPERA MOBILE) or dial contacts on the PHONE or command redial.
You can not say 'send text to "contact name"'. If you want deeper than that then use online ones I mentioned.
Iono if it's multilanguage? I why don't you try it then tell us? What I do know is that I have plenty non English contacts and it dials them correctly even though it repeats them weird with English phonetics. It is able to learn as well so if it's confused between 2 contacts, manually selecting correct one, will not prompt again with same pronunciation. I have had few names that I had to gradually train like that going from English phonetics to native tongue pronunciation and now it's perfect.
I save data with titanium so don't have to train it again between flashing.

Calm down. If you insist, so i ask you again: is it for dictating sms?
A forum need people able to talk gently with others and if they can and want, to answer to the question, and not to be arrogant.
If you are nervous go to sleep.
So Dumb
So Dumb to not understand plain English.
Lol! Yeah all we need in forum are lazy people that post request in wrong section and won't do **** for themselves even when the help and explanation is being offered several times, but are easy to offend!
This was a waste of fingers. I'm off to sleep as you suggested and you wait for another soft spoken fellow or a gall.
But I'll throw you another bone. None of the solutions to date offer offline dictation on any smartphone platform and you ponder...

Stupid as usual. Nothing better to expect from you and useless people thinking like you. Enjoy you and your friends with the bones by yourself.
Poor you...find a girl and be less nervous, and maybe a mother so serious you will be polite.

Point being: instead of finding ways of being offended maybe you should have read more carefully and see I and others had tried to help you throughout this topic. You have 4 posts and look what they are.
Anyways ill stop now and leave your thread alone.

[Q] Change google now "google" to something else

This may seem like something of a longshot, but I figured it was worth asking. I don't know about anyone else but I would personally love to be able to change the voice prompt word on google now to something other than well....google. I would like to name it like, Kelly, or Sheila, or just about anything other than saying google every time. If anyone thinks this can be done I would love to hear some ideas as I will be working on figuring it out as well!!
This is the one instance where I think "computer" would be perfect.

or even droid, or nexus, or android, or anything lol....just not google. I just think to myself, if iPhone users were like ....Apple, whats the weather like? Just seems very bland.
I've also been waiting for someone to hack this (or s-voice or any of the others) to respond to "computer". I figure it's only a matter of time.
Bonus points if confirmation prompts can be responded to with "make it so".
seeing as this is just the first version of their Siri-type functionality, I am sure there will be advancements, features and funny responses added in due time. They always seem to make things easier to use as time goes on.
speaking of funny response.... after saying google, say : do a barrel roll
HAh, it does a barrel roll! I love easter eggs.
Jarvis
Every time I watch Iron Man or Avengers, I want my phone/tab to respond to Jarvis.
Hopefully when this hack is implemented, someone will post it here.

can s-voice speak text for confirmation instead of visual preview?

Hi.
S-voice seems to work more accurately for my "accent" than google's program so I've had a decent success rate with it for daily use this last week.
That said, I cannot tell whether this feature is available: when I ask it to send a text or email and give it the content, it asks me for a visual confirmation that it got the words right. is there a way to get it to speak back what I asked it to type up? I've spent last three days searching without luck, which suggests this doesn't exist yet so I'm just paying to obtain confirmation and closure.
Thank you for your time.
I found it strange it did not do this. Its almost all hands free up until this point if your using Bluetooth you have to look at your phone. Almost makes it pointless. I have not found away around it yet but I do agree it should read the text back to you.

Thanks for confirming. The one time I got google now to write a text message for me, it, too, did not repeat it outloud. Well, I just won't use that feature then, it's already gotten me in trouble with incorrect word.
I found a an application called "assistant" which sort of does it well, but it's just so.. rough. Always a compromise, isn't it?
Bummer.

Teaching Google to Spell

Hey All:
There's some threads about contact recognition, but my issue isn't with Google misspelling a contact.
My one month old daughter's name is Raegan, as distinct from the former president's spelling of the name. Any idea how to make Google interpret texts to my wife, e.g. "How's Raegan doing?" to refer to my daughter and not to Mr. Reagan?
Even if it meant manually correcting the spelling on the watch a few times, I don't mind, but I can't figure out how to correct it on my watch.
Thanks!

I know it's not what you're looking for, but I have been able to successfully (most of the time) spell out words Android won't recognize. You could try it, Ok Google - Send text to [contact] - "how's R-A-E-G-A-N doing, question mark."
In fact I just tried it and it worked. Unfortunately since you're spelling it out for Wear, it won't automatically capitalize the name, and I had no success in dictating "capitol R."
