Hey all,
I just posted a thread in the HD2 forum so I will bring it up here to see if anyone has noticed this, because I searched the forums all night last night and didnt find any posts about this:
If this has been covered please direct me to the thread, but it seems there is two camera settings, which is annoying the hell out of me. Let me explain, some may not notice this but I did two days ago when it annoyed me.
When you take a picture with the camera, with the setting 3m and quality of superfine, the pictures based on detail could be anywhere from 500K+ which is fine, but taking the same picture thru the HTC messaging app does not, even though after taking the picture it is barely making 50K, when I checked the settings thru the htc messaging app the camera settings are completely different then when using the camera as a standalone.
In the Standalone the setting is @3m with superfine quality, but thru the messaging app its set to 640x384 and the quality if set to fine or normal. And the resolution is greyed out so you cant change it.
Now you may ask why, the reason is on the fuze I was able to send pictures as attachements thru the app without having to go the camera and then take the picture then go to the msg app and send it, The primary reason I am looking for the resolution change is because on ATT your limit is 600K to send any pix or MMS, so why doesnt the app allow you to choose the compression level and no matter what make the pictures on avg 50-60k?
If anyone knows where this is located please let me know, or if you know how I can change this I'd be thrilled! And no I am not looking to change arcsoft since I fixed the HTC messaging app issue.
I think I found the location of the second camera setting, the only problem now is everytime I change the setting in the registry it doesnt make a difference what I change it to in the settings it doesnt change, and when I reset the phone, the values go back. here is the reg entry if anyone can help:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCPhotoPicker\HTCMessaging_Client\Setting\VirtualContent_1]
"ResolutionHeight"=dword:000001E0
"ResolutionWidth"=dword:00000280
"Type"=dword:00000001
"StillQuality"=dword:00000000
"Mode"=dword:00000000
So far I know that "StillQuality" can either be:
0=Auto Fine
1=Basic
2=Normal
3=Fine
It wont allow you to pick "Superfine" by adding 4 just doesnt work.
"Mode" Is for:
0=Camera & Video Mode
1=Video Mode Only
Havent figured out what "Type" is yet.
"ResolutionHeight"=dword:000001E0 = 480
"ResolutionWidth"=dword:00000280 = 640
These two entries I cant make stick to any other resolution then that, Tomorrow I am going to see if it will allow me to change the settings lower then what it defaults to.
Anyone know how???

Ok, after getting my MMS settings right for O2 on my Orange issues Touch Pro 2, i can now recieve picture messages. But.......
EVERY picture message coming in to the phone appears as a tiny image in the centre of the screen approximately 1/4 to 1/3 of the screeen in height. Quality is abysmal.
Every picture has been sent in different sizes, so i can only assume my settings are resizing hte incoming pictures.
Any ideas????? Or, as has been the case in the past with some things, am i just being or doing something stupid??
It's probably a network issue:

Actually, it's not a network issue. It's the wspheader. Basically, your network checks this to see what device you have. However, if it's something they don't recognize, everything in their system resets to default. So if someone sends you a 800k hi-res picture, t-mobile will convert it to a small-ass picture because it KNOWS that all phones can see it. It ensures that all messages are transmitted, even if it's not the right size.
There's a simple regedit to fix it. It's in the forums, i've found it already, but I've since lost it. I'll dig it up and post it here when I find it.

Ahh... I didn't know that! Cheers! A search on the forums did the trick.
The settings I found were the settings for a N95... seems to work ok.

Dear Friends,
I noticed that since manila 2.1.1919 (LEO) (probably), the contacts picture doesn't updated. Means if any of my friends change their profile picture in their facebook, their new picture wont show up in my contact. I've tried to update, but no luck. Only their status are updated.
Anyone has the same issue? any fix for this?

I'm using stock att rom and manila 2.1.1918 and had a similar issue when linking the profiles for the first time, and updating the pic the contacts pictures wouldnt load at all, i removed the link b/t the facebook and contact and instead of having it auto locate which contact i chose it from the list and that worked. i know its a dif version, but figured I'd share my experience
I thought I had the same issue but it turns out that it just takes a while. Once you set it to update move back to the home tab and then go back. pic should be updated
i've tried that, but still no picture update. The status did update.
I'm not sure if this will work, but I figure my 2 cents might help.
I had a similar problem as well.
Now that you have a connection with the facebook profile... Go into your contact list, select any contact that is asscociated with a profile (via Automatic Pairing or Manual). Select "Edit Contact" (shoulr be under the "Information" Bar). Touch the area where the "Photo" should be. Select "Facebook Profile."
I have had a few that I had to do this to, but once I did this, they change by themselves as people change them on their profiles... I believe it updates every 2 hours or something.
Worth a try, at least.
Hello,
I'm new to this forum but have done a google search for my problem. It seems like it's still an ongoing problem that doesn't have a solution as of yet.
My problem/issue is with MMS messages that contain more than one picture. I've got handcent and the original messaging app that came with my droid incredible.
The best way I know to describe the problem in detail is to give an example. Let's say I received an MMS message that contained 10 pictures. With handcent, I would download the message and it would/could come in in different ways. Sometimes it'll only show me the first picture(view thru some sort of picture manager), sometimes it would show me the first and last as some sort of a movie, and then sometimes it would show the entire set of pictures in a movie type format that would last for 1-2 minutes give or take with no way of scrolling from picture to picture. However, unless it shows all the pictures in a movie type format there is no way to view every picture unless I go into the messaging app that came on the phone.
When using the messaging app on the phone the MMS message comes in in 1 of 2 ways. The first is a slideshow that shows every picture with an option to scroll from picture to picture. I'm pleased with this and would like all of these types of messages to come in this way. The second is the pictures come in as attachments. With this I'm only able to view the picture one by one. I have to click on what picture I want to view then choose between "View or save to SD card" then choose how to complete the action by choosing between "View picture or ASTRO Image Viewer".
My question is why doesn't all MMS messages like this not automatically come in as a slideshow where I can manually flip between pictures, either with the messaging app that came with the phone or with handcent? Is this a droid issue, specific phone issue, etc.? Is there a system setting that needs to be changed or a phone update I need to do? I had an LG Dare before this phone and all messages like this came in in slideshow form and I could flip between each picture.
This is the only problem I'm having with this phone. It's rooted and I'm running RR rom. I just want to be able to view each and every picture by scrolling or thumbing through the message. It's just amazing to me that a phone with this capability would have an issue like this
Thanks for any help!

does anyone have an answer?
This has been something that has been consistantly bad over several roms since I got my EVO almost a year ago. There has to be a fix for this.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It's not an ideal fix by any means, but the best option I've found is to create a local version of the contact (Phone only, instead of from Google), put the picture on that, and link them. Of course the picture won't sync then.
The problem is that Google Contacts doesn't support high res pictures, and it downsamples them when you add them. It's inexcusable that they haven't fixed it after all this time, but they haven't.
there is a few apps out there that do have a full screen picture when called, full screen id should be the name
Anybody seen an issue where if you try to change a contact picture or create a new picture, it always reverts to one particular picture? My GF was just trying to change her contact picture of me and noticed it after she changed it, it went to a picture of her niece that was originally pulled from Facebook on an entirely different contact. I checked and sure enough every contact she tries to add with a pic gets assigned that same pic. I tried removing Facebook and changing it and still a no go. Any ideas?
Anybody with suggestions???? Anybody?????
