Noob: Can I disable my ringtone while using other apps? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Got a Verizon TP2 in March, still using the WinMo 6.1 stock rom. Had an XV6700 and then an SMT5800 (that was a mistake but I digress)
There was a way to use TCPMP and/or MediaPlayer with headphones on the XV6700 and not have the phone ringtone be "active". I can't find that on the TP2. Seems like phone ring is always active unless I have vibrate on, and when I have vibrate on, there's no sound at all.
I'm sure there must be a setting I've missed somewhere? Any help would be much appreciated.

umm im pretty sure this is not possible on the TP2...other windows mobile phones (non htc) without touchflo-sense can do this...on my Incite running wm6.1 it has an option to turn the ringer off/vibrate while i can still listen to music and etc..
ur guess is as good as mine...

WM6/Headset Profile is apparently missing

I use my headset when I'm driving, and I've noticed since the upgrade that the headset doesn't ring when I get a call. I looked in the Profiles, and there's no Headset Profile. Does anybody know of a way to either enable one or create one?
Thanks.
I notice this ALSO!!! Its driving me nuts!....no pun intended as i use it when i drive as well. Anyone know whats going on?

No offense, but that is the best thing (to me) about WM6... Okay, maybe not the best, but I prefer this method to the WM5. I understand it was nice to have your headset profile set the way you like it for using your headset. However, I use my headset 90% of the time, and the fact that I couldn't easily change the profile with a headset on with WM5 annoyed me.
I wish you could assign a "headset profile" so that the feature isn't gone, just disabled by default... but I like the new method.

No offense taken.
The primary concern that I have with the WM6 way is that I'm required to keep my phone on silent or vibrate while at work. Using it in the car like I do, I keep the phone in a holder on the dash, so I don't feel the vibration when someone calls. In WM5, I could leave it that way, and when I received a call while in headset mode, it rang in my ear. Under WM6, I don't hear a ring, and therefore, I miss calls.
FYI, I had an SDA prior to the Dash, and it had the headset mode as well. Maybe someone will see this and suggest a way to add a profile to this. I'm not educated enough in the WM registry (where I think it would need to be added) to make the attempt.

You know what, after using it some more today, i think it IS better like this. Makes more sense.
My bluetooth rings in my ear on vibrate--- I like it much better then the headset profile and with the voice command it tells me who is calling and from where!!!
Still missing calls while using headset w/ phone on vibrate. Help, please.
I wish they would allow us to create our own profiles. I remember in WM 2003 it allows us to do that.

Ring tone volume too soft - [SOLVED]

Hi,
first of all: I've searched the forum but didn't find anything useful. I must admit that I'm complete illiterate when it comes to roms etc.
Here are the facts: I've got an HTC P3300 (Artemis?). I've updated the software through the official HTC RUU to Windows Mobile 6. The version is CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2). I've installed nothing else myself, so the device is pretty clean.
Here's the question: is there a way to crank up the volume of the ring tones? All other tones, alerts, etc are loud enough but the ring tone volume seems to be softer. Even when I put it to the maximum it still isn't that loud. Is it a known feature or is there a workaround for this?
try different tone!
upgrade the radio? not very likely to do anything?
use the default tone
use the SRS utility of sound enhancement extracted from o2 flame i think i've seen this in the forum somewhere
Thanks for the reply! Here's what I did in the mean time:
- I reset the device (settings->"clear storage")
- I set the ringtone to the Windows Mobile default
The volume is fine now. I don't know what happened the first time...I can only assume that humble old me did something wrong.
Anyway, it seems fine - for now that is. Thanks again.

Txt sound and Ringer stop working in 6.1

Ok it only seems to happen after I get a few txt messages like one after another, mostly if in the txt message using it in its new "chat" style... Makes txting 100 times easier but it stops making a noise when a message is received... NOT a huge deal if it went back to making noise once I got out of the txting window or program, but it wont. It will also stop the ringer from working so I will miss other txt's and calls until I look at the phone. It takes a reset to get it back to normal. I was using the FARIA-R32-XDA2 rom, I'm going to try some other roms and see if I have the same issue.
Its on a AT&T branded 8525
Nothing??
this is rather annoying. If I receive a bunch of txt's my ringer and notifications stop working, the phone will still make sound if you go elsewhere and force it but it will NOT notify me of a TXT or a incoming call. Hell it wont even blink the like orange if I received a txt. This cant be just me with this problem. And I've only had this issue since going to WM6.1 I'm tempted to go back to VP3G 6.0 and leave it there and just deal with the non threaded txt's, thats really the only reason I upgraded.
Can't say I've noticed this problem.....ever, and I use WM6.1
Sorry mate
You also dont have the 8525, so I wonder if its something to do with the AT&T branded POS...
Could it be the fact that my notification sound I was using was a mp3 file??
If your MP3 file is stored on a memory card, and there is a break in communication that would definitely result in it not working.
The Hermes has a bug in (at least when it was released) where the card reader loses connectivity. There is a reg fix available on this site that should resolve that issue.
Just a thought.. might help you..
I have been running 6.1 for a few weeks now, and other than my alarm not working all of the sudden on morning, have not had any other issues.
Sound file was in the windows directory...
I just upgraded to 2.60 0lipro and put TNT back on and maybe using a WAV file it wont mess up again... because it affected just the txt and ringer and both of those were mp3 files.

Change WM6 outgoing ring tones...

Hi,
Good day to all!
Is there a way I can change the sound the phone makes when I give someone a call, or at least increase the volume?
I am using Dutty's 1.8 and I find that the volume of that 'ring' isn't quite loud enough...
BTW, just to be clear, I am referring to the sound teh device makes when you place a call (outgoin call) and are waiting for your teh other person to pick up.
I, of course know how to customize my rings and alerts and so on...
So, if anyone has an idea...?
are we allowed to 'Bump' here?
(sorry if I wasn't)
Surely this sound comes from the operator? Every country is different.
I doubt it, as on the HD, I have a different sound when I call a mobile than when I call a landline.
Also, I owned the HTC touch before, same operator, and the sound was quite different.
Also, my girlfriend is on the same operator, different mobile (nokia), and the sound she gets is also different (tune and volume are much better (to my ears anyway )
Given this, I am pretty sure there's a way to customize the 'outgoing calls' sound.
Anyone?

Notification Sounds / Vibrations

So I had a TP2 (from Telus) for approximately 2 months with the stock ROM. I put some custom ringtones on it, and set it up to play a sound and vibrate on incoming calls, incoming SMS, incoming e-mail.
When I first start the device, everything works fine for a while, however, after some period of time (varies) the audible alerts for SMS and e-mail stop working...still works for incoming calls (so it's not muted or anything).
Randomly, the vibrate feature will stop "working" as well, it won't completely stop working, but instead of a long vibrate, I get ONE vibrate (like you get when you push a key on the soft keyboard).
I upgraded to an EnergyROM WinMo6.5 ROM last night, and this afternoon this problem surfaced AGAIN.
Any solutions / thoughts?
Thanks
convert your sounds into another format.

What format?
All three (including the phone ringer, which always works) of the sounds-in-question are MP3s.
Try using WMA
though I must say my TP2 works fine with MP3 media as well.
same thing happens mine too. mostly ok but sometimes no sound from my tp2 or different ring tones. I have original rom
Nope. This is most likely a hardware issue, unless you are running a non-ATT device. The format has nothing to do with it; the device can actually play movie files (audio portion) without a single problem, even when on the storage card. It sounds like a hardware problem about the vibrate thing. But, that notification thing sounds pretty much software. Try with the stock sounds and see if it makes a difference then put the custom ones on main memory and try again.
