I use my headset when I'm driving, and I've noticed since the upgrade that the headset doesn't ring when I get a call. I looked in the Profiles, and there's no Headset Profile. Does anybody know of a way to either enable one or create one?
Thanks.
I notice this ALSO!!! Its driving me nuts!....no pun intended as i use it when i drive as well. Anyone know whats going on?

No offense, but that is the best thing (to me) about WM6... Okay, maybe not the best, but I prefer this method to the WM5. I understand it was nice to have your headset profile set the way you like it for using your headset. However, I use my headset 90% of the time, and the fact that I couldn't easily change the profile with a headset on with WM5 annoyed me.
I wish you could assign a "headset profile" so that the feature isn't gone, just disabled by default... but I like the new method.

No offense taken.
The primary concern that I have with the WM6 way is that I'm required to keep my phone on silent or vibrate while at work. Using it in the car like I do, I keep the phone in a holder on the dash, so I don't feel the vibration when someone calls. In WM5, I could leave it that way, and when I received a call while in headset mode, it rang in my ear. Under WM6, I don't hear a ring, and therefore, I miss calls.
FYI, I had an SDA prior to the Dash, and it had the headset mode as well. Maybe someone will see this and suggest a way to add a profile to this. I'm not educated enough in the WM registry (where I think it would need to be added) to make the attempt.

You know what, after using it some more today, i think it IS better like this. Makes more sense.
My bluetooth rings in my ear on vibrate--- I like it much better then the headset profile and with the voice command it tells me who is calling and from where!!!
Still missing calls while using headset w/ phone on vibrate. Help, please.
I wish they would allow us to create our own profiles. I remember in WM 2003 it allows us to do that.

Does anyone else have this problem...?
I've just got an HBH-662 for the Universal and it pairs fine and can make calls, but answering calls it doesn't work properly.
The headset recognises incoming calls and rings okay, but when you press the button to answer the call, it doesn't put the sound through the headset, only through the phone.
Maybe it's a setting I'm missing, but it's a tad annoying!
F.
I'm not sure I can help much, but I have no problems with my HBH-662 and my Jasjar.
Brett
I too have no problems with the HBH-662 and answering calls.
Will give it loads of testing later and see if i can get it to act the same as yours
I have been using HBH-662 with JJ for few weeks and in general I have no problem. I just wish that the Caller ID issue (the ability for the JJ to send contact name to the BT headset instead of number only) is resolved very soon.
I've not had any problem answering calls. The only problem I've experienced with this headset is an apparent clash with programs like GSPPocketMagic, MagicButton and HandyMenu. With either of the three apps running, my headset drops the connection after 20-30 seconds and I have to press the button on the headset to pick up the call again, which it drops 20-30 seconds later, etc. The moment I uninstall these apps it works fine again.
How strange. It seems to have sorted itself out!
I paired my old BT330 to compare it, it worked fine, so I removed the Akono and re-paired it and it seems to be working.
Thanks for the comments folks, it's useful even though you didn't get the same probs!
Now the next issue is how to reconcile the fact that SE say this thing provides "Caller ID", which I took to mean the NAME of the person, with the fact that it doesn't do anything of the sort... only the number.
And who really remembers the numbers of their friends these days?!

It does provide CallerID name... but only with certain phones WM phones being among those that don't provide name information. It's my understanding that the problem lies in the bluetooth stack on the phone and not with the headset. I did see a post a short while back that suggested the issue was being worked on and would be resolved in a ROM update, so I have hope... but I'm not holding my breath.
Brett
Hehehehehehehe.
Microsoft 'working on' the bluetooth stack...
hehehehehehehehe. Sorry. I just find that really funny. The idea that MS are actually working on anything to do with the BT stack on WM!
I don;t really understand why it takes so long to program a bit of BT to provide something like that (or, say A2DP!). I mean, how hard can it be?
Well I'm not a programmer so I won't moan.

Any more comments if Sony Erickson Akono BT headset HBH662 really clashes with magic button and handy menu?
Hi all.
Trying to get my headset to work with ms voice commander 1.6 under WM6
I followed the procedure here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Utils and it worked great on WM5.
i upgraded to WM VI Black v2.5 (which i think is excelent) and again followed the procedure, and again it worked but with a small flaw. i push my headset button and instruct the phone to make a call. It makes the call. and then after 30 seconds (or whatever i set the timeout to) it switches back to the phone speaker, even if i am now in a call. I need the timeout to be overriden as soon as im in a call.
it works for everything else but obviously if im in a call its not much use if its switching over to the phone.
This worked in WM5 OK. it seemed as soon as the call connected that the timeout was overridden. I need to figure out what it is in WM6 thats different.
Any ideas people???
Do this.

Go get this and you'll be much happer with Voice Command.
Keep in mind that the search function does work, as the link I posted does a search.
I've been running WM6 for a while and I know it works with that OS... Are you sure that you the correct Registry settings?
Sometimes it will switch over to the phone if it's a long delay on the other end...but if I hit the button on my headset it switches back to my headset.
Have you tried hitting the button on your headset when it switches to the phone?

Oh silverfox, I love you. I didn't know there was a patch out for this.
Hi.
I have spent months trying replacement VC files and cabs in hope to get consistant Call notifications to various BT ear pieces with no resolution.
Has anyone been able to enable VCs call announcements to reach any BT ear piece.
THX.
Do you mean that your ear piece tells you when a call is coming in? If so I use the Voicecommand cab that's in the add ons for vp36's ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334946&highlight=vp3G.
I also use the little Jabra ear piece: http://www.jabra.com/Sites/Jabra/NA-US/products/Pages/JabraBT8040.aspx
I can initiate Voice Command with it and the ear piece tells me when calls are coming in.
If you are expecting VoiceCommand to tell you the name of who is calling in that you recorded, I don't think it actually does that.
Just read the specs for 1.6 and it looks like it does include what you want. We'll see if we can find a cab for it. If you find it post the link here and I will do the same.
The bottom line is this..You need a headset with the AD2P profile like the one linked above. You also need to install the .cab linked and enable it once installed.
I use the Jabra BT8010 myself..If you don't have a headset with AD2P its not gonna happen so no need to go further.
Now if you have all this like I do then yes notifications with come through the headset. If you want incoming calls announced then goto Start/Settings/Voice Command then highlight phone and click options...check off 'Announce incoming calls' then press ok.
So when I'm driving in my car I can tell if I got a email or txt msg just by the tone I have set for each. If I turn on announce calls then it will say what I have in my contacts.
Hi!
First of all, sorry for my english, I'm from germany.
I'm new here, waiting for my O2 Diamond to be released
Therefore I'm searching for a Bluetooth headset. I don't want to carry the Diamond everytime in my trouser pocket but (if I have it with me) in my bag. I hate ringin phones so I'm searching for a headset that could notify me with vibration on incomming calls. Best would be if the headset has a display that shows me who is calling. Can you suggest me some headsets?
It would be terrific if the headset could notify me on incomming SMS / mail. Is that possible?
Regards
Daniel
Jabra bt8010
is a pretty good head set has caller id, 30 number phonebook, silent, vibrate, ring and ringtone from handset, also stereo headset
hi!
Thanks for your reply, I found the bt8010 myself. But I normaly need no stereo headset. I would prefer the bt800 (if I can get it anywhere).
Do you have the bt8010? Which OS is installed on you phone?
Any experiences about the caller id function? Is it possible that the Headset shows the same IDs as in your phonebook of your mobile?
And can someone give me a hint about the SMS / mail notification?

I believe the BT800 has been discontinued and replaced with the BT8010.
The phonebook/caller ID function is great, but the catch is you have to download the software separately, and manually input the entries into the headset itself, and it can only hold 30 entries.
Anything not in the headset's address book will just display as the number, not the name of the person calling.
You can get the software and such here:
http://www.jabra.com/bt8010
The stereo speaker is detachable, so if you don't want stereo, just don't attach it.
I'm running Windows Mobile 6 on a Moto Q9c, and can't say enough good things about this headset. It has adequate sound quality and noise reduction mic; I've never had someone complain when talking on it.
As for email notification...I doubt it; the headset doesn't alert you when a new text message comes through (though the phone still reacts as normal).
Thanks for your answer Oh SoS

Yes, I think so. But maybe I can get the BT800 somewhere (eBay or so). Probably that woul be cheaper.

Are you sure about that? Is it impossible that the display shows the caller ID that is in the mobiles phonebook? or would that maybe work with some phones?

I heard only good stuff about Jabra so I think it will be one of them.

hihi, me too. But it would really be ingenious if that would work. I plan to have the headset the only thing in my pocket, so I would need the vibration of the headset to notice new text messages. I hate ringing phones.
yeah I have the 800, but its uncomfortable to wear for long periods and the display is not that bright. The 8010 can be worn as a mono headset. The 80l0 was a good start but the 8010 is much better, also can connect to 2 phones, not at the same time.
Hi Harry,
as you have the BT800, can you tell me if it notifies you for incoming SMS/mail?
Whit what mobile-phone do you use the BT800?
I have been wondering for a few days now whether the "Straight Talk" loudspeaker and mic activated by flipping the Rhodium is not the same as the loudspeaker activated by tapping "loudspeaker" when making a call and perhaps someone can enlighted me?
The reason I'm asking is because I have read such raving reviews of the Straight Talk function, with its crystal clear noice cancelled sound and everything, yet when I'm in the car making a call and tap "loudspeaker" I have to talk really loud for the people on the other end to hear me. Also they sometime complain about the sound recieved from me being metallic or having a background hum to it.
So, is the two functions different? And if they are, is there another way to activate Straight Talk than flipping the phone?
Or is my Rhodium faulty?
Any input is very much appreciated!
Noone can help here?
Yes those functions are different. When you use straight talk it uses the microphone on the back of the rhodium. I don't know if there is another way to activate this function and I don't know why you would do that
Witch rom are you using? In my experience the custom roms have a better sound quality then stock roms. I don't know if it's true but it's just a feeling
I guess I'm just too used to tapping the loudspeaker button just after dialing... or when recieving calls. Sometimes it doesn't work putting it face down whilst driving, on the passenger seat, and I can't put it face down while it is in a cradle either...
I'm using the latest stock ROM, european version.
