hey guys
i'm having a few problems with my wifi in a way that it keeps turning itself on, is this happening to anyone else and how can i fix it?
thanks in advance
slaming
bumpity bumpy
happens to me all the time at the moment. did you find a fix ?
Yeah, my first post after reading here for years
Had the same problem, in my case it was an app that turned wifi on randomly - tunesync (the new version doesnt have this problem).
If you don't have installed tunesync take a look in your logs after wifi goes on, think it was osmonitor i used for this reason ...
U must have an app or something that interfer, unless u dont click it its either that or i dont know.
did you switched on Auto Sync? If you do, then it might turn it on itself. Never had any problem with my wifi turning on itself. On stock rom - Europe unlocked (A8181)

Hey guys!
I'm having a tricky problem right now... i hope it's no hardware fault
I am losing my connection to my network provider as soon as the screen goes off.
I noticed it when starting a call a couple of hours ago. I had full bars and as soon as i put the phone against my ear i lost my connection --> all bars down and grey.
The weird thing is, i can call somebody no problem as long as i dont let the proximity sensor let the screen turn off. This is the same case with mobile internet. As long as the screen is on ---> no problems. Screen Off --> Signal lost
I am on an ICS Rom (AOKP build 38) and had no problems with this rom for about a week. Just changed the Rom and noticed the problem and reverted back to my backup which was supposed to still be running fine.
I even reflashed the newest radio... still losing signal
Please tell me, i'm overlooking something and this is no hardware fault from me flashing...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: Wow... problem solved. Flashed back to the rom that brought the problem (Elitemod). And now everything works again. Weird...
Hi. I have same problem. I flashed CM7 7.2 and it looses signal and mobile internet always when turn screen off. And it comes back right when screen turns on. WTF.. @_o. So that means at nobody canĀ“t call me. ****.

Hi,
Just check in power saver settings if you've opted for disconnecting data when screen goes off.

Hello,
After updating from CM9 to CM10 I started facing wifi issue. My phone works normally for 1-3 days, and then wifi stops working. If I go to wifi settings, it says "Searching for Wi-Fi Networks". Also, wifi cannot be turned off. After reboot wifi operates normally for some time until this glitch happens again.
I thought it was CM-related issue, but some people say they have faced this issue even with stock JB.
Do you have this issue? How can it be fixed?
Toggle airplane mode.

Thanks, but I'd like to know if there is a way to fix it completely Does everyone just toggles airplane mode? Is there a firmware without this issue?

No idea on how to fix it, i have it too.
It's not happening too frequently to bother me.
Is there ; Support connect to wireless network by QSS (Quick Security Setup)??
for this build patch?
I have this exact same problem on CM10. I did a full wipe and the problem remains
I will keep searching for a solution, but I really hope someone can tell us more information as to what the cause might be.

Hi guys
I've been getting fairly decent battery life, however am now connecting my phone to the car daily via bluetooth.
I've noticed some battery drain and after checking the built in battery stats and also better battery stats app, my Bluetooth is not turning off when I'm selecting it.
IE, connected on the drive to work, get to work, disconnected then turned off, but showing as constantly on.
Any ideas what could cause this?

I have noticed the same thing when viewing battery stats although I never use bluetooth and it's always off.

Any updates or anyone else having the same problem?
I also noticed it just a minute ago. gsam monitor tells that bt was on for 6hrs+ which is the exact same time with phone radio.
Earlier this week connected to my boss' car radio for bt aux, this is the first and last time I used bt. Switched it on&off from settings, nothing changed.
SH26CW, running 4.0.4
Might be useful to give the serial no's since it is useful information about the production site and date.

Same issue here, and same Android version. GSam always reports the same Bluetooth on time as the time unplugged, ie. it's saying that BT has been on all the time, while it's clearly off. I've tried different ways to switch off BT (using widget, using settings, going into Airplane mode and back) but to no avail.
Part of me is suspecting that GSam might be reading the wrong value and falsely reporting it as Bluetooth. But perhaps someone with a different battery monitoring app could check on this and confirm?
It is a bug, to solve it you will need to restart your phone.
This is the only way I find to solve this on stock 2.17/Android 4.0.4.
This bug is caused by turning your Bluetooth on and off.
I faced the same problem? But does that use battery? Actually.the Bluetooth is off.

Hmm, user fault then hheheheueh
the strange thing is, it does not consume battery at all. ok it's not connected to any device but I would think it would consume more than just %1.
may be non-discoverable makes it use less. not broadcasting anything.

A restart sometimes fix the problem but not always. Today I had bluetooth turned off then after restarting by four hours my device reports that bluetooth has been on for 4 hours even though I didn't turn it on and it shows that it's off.

Glad I'm not the only one
I do find a reboot fixes it, but I don't want to have to reboot my phone every time I get out the car.
I'll get my serial number when I'm home and see if its the same

I'm now having a chat with HTC live support about JB update and also asked the question about BT off issue.
He said, please follow the following steps.. Waiting for what he'll say..
So he suggested booting in safe mode, going to applications? >> manage, uncheck.. ? I'm not familiar with safe mode so I cannot surely say what he is talking about.
Has anyone tried this? Did it work?
So he sad that this will solve if an application is triggering the problem, but I haven't used any applications that use BT.
So, the next suggestion is factory reset, bullsh*t. sorry guys =)
useless post may be, but confirms that HTC official support has no fixing for this.

Hahaha, that's funny and more towards Apple ideology.
Bluetooth was designed to be efficient. But, if its running then it consuming energy ,and that's something I don't like.
I already checked logcat/kmsg ,but nothing about this Bluetooth issue.
I didn't see anyone on JB came to complain about this, let's see what the offical JB has to offer.

Try to disable "fastboot", and give it a try.
I am afraid nothings more can be done on stock, other option is to wait for JB and hope it already fixed.

Safe mode is a mode in Android, that will will disable all the 3rd party installed apps. Similar to safe mode in Windows. After your turned on your phone, just press on the volume key and it will get you there.
Beside that, I never trust customer support, and I never had a good experience with any of them.
The only good thing is about companies offering customer support, is they add job opportunities into the economy.
This problem just crept up on me. I noticed the battery was lower than normal, I checked BBS and it seems like BT never turned off. A reset would solve the problem until I turn BT back on again.
Does anyone know if this has been fixed with 4.1?

It seems so, at least on my One X G Sam is now reporting the correct BT on-time, whereas pre-JB it was continually on, clock ticking even after turning it off.

I updated to 4.4.2 yesterday. And since then the Wifi turns off automatically after a few minutes when phone goes to sleep
I checked the wifi settings>Keep wifi on during sleep with both "always" and "never"
the problem still persists
Is anyone else facing a similar issue or am i missing something in the settings
Your help would be appreciated
Thanks

Welcome to the club, mate! For me, wifi has almost never worked as it should.
Mostly, it works just fine until the phone goes to sleep for a few minutes. Then
the speed is reduced to around 1-2 Mbit/s, & the only way to restore the speed
is to turn wifi off & then turn it on again. After doing that, everything's Hunky Dory
until the phone goes to sleep again. Then the story repeats itself....
I've almost given up on Samsung by now, since they seem totally unable (unwilling?)
to fix this widely experienced issue. Also, their update scheme for this "flag ship" (?)
suck big time, at least for us wanting the "NEE" version of KK4.4.2....
And btw, this phone also seems unable to record both sides of a conversation
when using a BT headset. That's NOT ok in 2014, Sammy! You've got my
money once, but you've made sure that I won't do the same mistake twice.

Has anybody found a solution to this, I can't download anything in sleep mode, tried all wifi settings, is it just 4.4.2?
Hi , is not the best solution but you can try Juice defender to automatically turn wifi on when phone wakes.
I'm on dr Ketan V14 rom and wifi works fine.
I hope that can help you.
I realize that this is an old thread.... amazing how they just peter out with no real solution.
N7100, stock ROM, Rooted, and have Xposed Deep deep wifi sleep activated.
This happens about 90% of the time coming out of sleep, even the wifi quick setting is un-illuminated so have to turn it back on. When phone is shut down and then restarted, it happens 100% of the time, even after a full re-install of the ROM, 4.4.2.
I've stopped worrying about it.
In short I have the problem in said video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTylW2ElNzo
WIFI is sporadic and connects but after screen goes off it can mess up again, and restarting sometimes does not fix it. Is there a way to resolve it? I disabled Power Save, Wifi Direct & Scanning. But wifi wants to go on & off option-wise by itself still.
Do you have an custom kernel or something like that? I'm on the road since then I can't watch the youtube link right now.

I do. However it was happening stock (seller mentioned it sometimes had wifi issues but....never said this bad)
Do you have synapse or anything similar installed? Maybe there's an configuration option to fix it. I'm beginner by myself so im not totally sure but I think I had an custom kernel which came with synapse where I've been able to change wifi settings
