Sync Facebook Event -> GCalendar OK -> Desire NOT OK - Desire General

Hello all.
I just found this website that allow me to synch all my facebook events to my Google calendar account: http://www.menuo.ch/. That's a really cool stuff and that work pretty well!
Click for full size - Uploaded with plasq's Skitch
and all my events are written in Google calendar.
I try now to synch my HTC desire but it doesn't display this calendar! All other are well synchronised but this one is missing.. Why this one?
Click for full size - Uploaded with plasq's Skitch
As you can see the first one is the local HTC ( I guess)
2nd in orange: "perso" on HTC and google cal: OK
3rd in blue grey: "XXXX" on HTC and google cal: OK
4th in blue: "Jours feriés bleges" on HTC and google cal: OK
5th in green: HTC Sync stuff.
But where the hell is my facebook calendar that appear in Google and not in HTC???
(maybe this picture is more understandable:
Click for full size - Uploaded with plasq's Skitch
Is that possible to import it manually with the adress?
Please help me...
Thank a lot.

Why are you using a third party to sync Facebook calender events to Google Calendar? You can do it direct.

Because my method is dynamic and will work for all the events I attend/maybe attending. I have nothing to do, it sync automatically!
I just add the application and then no more stuff to do.
With your method, I have to open facebook/export the event/save on hard disk/import ical file/delete ical file on computer.
And as I have a lot of events to manage ( student parties, sport club activities, friends birthdays, etc..) using this calendar is really useful!

This method used to work: http: //gr33ndata.blogspot.com/2007/10/facebook-events-to-google-calendar.html
Unfortunately, FB seem to have culled the events ical link, altough my ical feed is still working! Dont know how you would find out the address of your ical feed?

Erm...yeah, not sure what I linked to there...that's certainly not the method I used. I was given a feed that I imported directly into Google calendar and it automatically imports anything I RSVP to. Not sure how to find it now, I can't actually see it...but I'm sure I didn't employ a third party app for it.
[EDIT]
Ah, the guy above has confirmed...they've hidden the link to the feed (although, as with the above poster, my feed still works, so it's a feature that's still there)

Yes that's something I have seen on Facebook forum.. The feed exist but the link is hidden, so it's too late for me! I cannot access it until they unhide the link.
I don't understand what happened because this feature is quite cool!

Just tested
Hi I have justed tested using the method from http://www.menuo.ch/. and I can see the new calendar on my desire
After doing the changes did you "Synch All" on your desire ? as that seemed to do the trick for me

That's OK.
I had to go to the HTC calendar - menu - more - calendars
then again menu - add calendars and it was there
Waw... Thank a lot for all your answers!

That's OK.
I would like to add the "SOLVED" TAG in m first post, is that possible, can I edit the title of my topic?

How to import a calendar on WM6

Hi all,
I want to import a calendar from Outlook to my Trinity on WM6.
May I ask to explain me how to do ?
Just to clarify the reason of my demand, I know that if you synchronise you will have all the datas, but on my company, the USB ports are disabled by the administrator, so I want to export the calendar file and import it to my mobile (by email for example).
Thanks in advance for your help

copy your outlook.pst from the office to a portable device (CD-Rom) if your PC has a burner and than syncronize at home
sorry I think you're stuffed- if you copied a .pst file via CD ROM you'd be able to sync once. Change your calendar at work and you have to repeat- it's unworkable.
I don't think it's possible- I presume if your USB ports are diabled, there is no way you could install any other software, and the chances of having a CD writer are low two.
Can you ask your IT folks to install Active sync and a USB cradle for you?

I was using this http://remotecalendars.sourceforge.net/ as it was in italian too... But at that time it was almost the only app, now you can find tons of them... RC is an Outlook plugin, but you can find a standalone Calendar Application...
We have Zimbra now so I don't sync with Outlook any more and calendar editing is done via web by our secretary...

Hi,
I see you have an orange icon, so you call with orange? they have a agenda function on their website, you need to login.
maybe that's a solution.
Google calendar is a very good solution. I'm using it with "oggsync" whitch allows me to synchronise google agenda with my 3G connection and oif course with my mobile outlook.
I'm only still having one issue, Google calendar can send invitations but aparently, you can't receive an invitation from a non goolge calendar, you receive an email and then you have to import that iCal file into google calendar.
It would be better if I could receive my invitation directly into google calendar but it's not possible, I'll look further on that, maybe i'll find something.
Thank you very much for your help !

Outlook invitation can cause strange issues, especially if your contacts are different between devices.
And you can use only Outlook or PIM Backup ver 2.5 to backup appointments with participants on your trinity (other programs or older version of pim backup gives errors during restore)

Sorry,
I don't know any software able to read a pst, except for some tool to repair a pst under xp/vista...

To import my calendar from Motorola A1000 I used to prepare a big cal file and import it with Remote Calander. Outlook 2007 (I don't use it) should be able to import cal file directly...

Looking for advice on HTC Sync, Outlook 2003 & Google Calendar

Hi all.
I'm looking for a little advice.
I currently use Outlook 2003 at work along side HTC Sync (HS) to sync my calendar entries to my Desire.
Is it possible to sync (only) the HS entries on my phone to a specific Google calendar? Ideally I'd like to sync the HS items into an online Google calendar just for work so I can see it online when I don't have my phone.
Happy to use an app if that's the only way...
By the way I can't use the Google Sync app for a couple of reasons; my company regards it as a security risk and it doesn't allow you to select the specific google calendar that you sync to - at least not as far as I know.
Thanks in advance.
Setting => Account & Sync => Add An Gmail Account => Sync Calendar
if u can't use this , there is a plugin for outlook that allows u to sync your outlook calendar & contacts , with Your Google Calendar & contacts ( if that's of any help ) , it's quite easy to find if u google it ...

Thanks Skywalker1726, but that's not quite what I meant.
My fault should have been clearer. I already have my phone set up for my google account but I have several calendars in that account.
As far as I can see I can't select a particular calendar to sync my Outlook items to. It looks like only Google calendar items can be changed.
I don't suppose you know the name of the outlook plugin? I tried googling for it and came across way too many dead beat apps.
Just to repeat I'm looking for a way (or a phone app) that allows my to select a specific google calendar for the items I have synced to my phone using HTC Sync.
Here is the link , Hope that helps !
Quite good but not quite right...

Thanks for the link and the suggestion.
unfortunately, it's "too similar" to the Google Sync tool and therefore my company think it's a security threat (I know there are worse things out there but go figure )
I suspect that I need something that works on my phone and allows me to select different calendars to sync back to.
Bump - any suggestions...?
Any suggestions?

If I'm understanding correctly you want your Outlook calendar to be synced "to the cloud" (in this case Google) which you can then access from your phone (or online when you don't have your phone).
I had a look and can't find any apps that will copy your phone calendar to a Google calendar. As you are using Outlook 2003 and can't use Google sync your options are a bit limited.
If your company uses Microsoft Exchange then you should already have remote access to your email / calendar on the web and you can also connect your Desire to this using the built in HTC calendar app. Your IT person should be able to get you set up fairly easily.
The only other solution I know of is to use a third party sync program - outlook 2003 doesn't support saving calendars in ical format (which you could have used as a manual workaround).
Sorry not to be more help...
Fair enough. Thanks for trying. Unfortunately my company are quite backward about their use if IT so pretty much any sync app or Exchange integration is out.

I am using gSyncIt. Not free, but it does the job between Google and Outlook. A lot of option to customize the sync, including several calendars.
Not sure what method it uses to sync, so maybe not working for you. But I know my company IT is as well in "stone age" and blocks nearly everything. But gSyncIt works.

HTC Sense LinkedIn and Picasa??

Hi,
today I got a notification from HTC Hub indicating that there were 2 new plugins for HTC Sense which are LinkedIn and Picasa.
I chose both to install, LinkedIn installed and I can see it and its nice. However, Picasa downloads but didn't install. Tried again as the notification still were there, but same thing happend again, downloads but never installs. Then the notification vanished!
I tried to find the Picasa Album plugin on HTC hub on both phone and HTCSense.com but never found it!!
Anybody experienced the same?
Does anybody know where HTC Hub downloads the files? I might find Picasa for HTC Sense file there and install it manually.
It would be nice to have the Picasa Album plugin so I do not need any third party app.
Noticed the exact same thing... got linked in but no picasa, and would have prefered to get picasa over linked in.
Yeah i had the same problem, i had two notifications one for the linkedIn and Picasa plug-ins and one for a new widget. I chose to install Picasa as the other two didn't interest me but it never installed and doesn't show up in the gallery as an option. I can't figure out how to get back to that plug-in choice section to try and download it again either
Although sometimes when i go to the HTC hub it shows up briefly saying 'failed to connect to server, try again later' but things still seem to load. Dunno if that's got anything to do with it. Hopefully they just pulled it and will have it available again soon
I downloaded the Linkedin app. Now it says "application not found" !!
had the same thing first i thought I downloaded both of them and then LinkedIn only show up in "Account & Sync" whereas Picasa is no where to be found.
also the update notification shows up randomly.
Same thing goes to the "Market" I was on the new Market UI at some point then it jumped back to the normal one
I downloaded the linked, I can see it in my manage apps, but it is not in my app drawer. I cannot open it. I wish HTC would provide some support here!
So I am not the only one facing this problem. Hope this will be fixed soon and pushed by HTC again

David:
I think you cannot find it in app drawer as it is a plugin for HTC Sense UI and not a standalone application for Android.
So you can find the application in Contacts -> Online -> and from here you choose LinkedIn
I don't have it in my HTC Hub. Where should it be?
its not there. I guess HTC pushed it to all and not included in HTC hub online yet.
re: picasa link
I tried to share/upload using picasa via galley but it's buggy, it want's you to log in to your google acct. even that you're logged already. Works fine if logged in.

Thats is something different.
Uploading to Picasa has always been there but the new plugin I think is to view your online albums and see pictures on your phone just like the new LinkedIn for HTC Sense plugin which enables you to see all of your friends and their profiles.

Thanks, it was there! Using it made me realize that the app is completely useless for my purposes. All it did was override my contacts with Linkedin contacts without email addresses, phone numbers, etc. I was hoping for that missing Android Linkedin app which this was not!

Are you sure it override your contacts with LinkedIn? For me what it does it actually good. I choose to see LinkedIn contacts when I open "Contacts" which you can switch off.
It links existing contacts you have in your phone with LinkedIn contacts but for me it didnt override anything!
If you mean it override your contacts, just unlink them and don't link any but still you can see all LinkedIn contacts.

I have actually deleted it as I could not figure out how to unlink. All I want is an app that accesses Linkedin, similar to twitter app, without having any effect on my phone contacts. Thanks again for your help!
Same to me, never been able to find downloaded apps.
I downloaded the LinkedIn app yesterday. When I connected to my LinkedIn account, syncing created new entries for my LinkedIn connections, which I manually had to link to the corresponding phone contacts (no automatic link suggestions). I can now view their LinkedIn profile from their contact card.
While I was in LinkedIn, I added some new people to my network. By the time they'd responded, I could no longer sync with my LinkedIn account. Force close!
I deleted my LinkedIn account, then recreated it. Syncing worked again, but I had to manually link the LinkedIn contacts to existing phone contacts once again.

Even I was befuddled by this. Linkedin didnt seem to install correctly. But it has - it is just an addon/plugin to the People/Contacts app and thats why the linkedin icon does not appear in the all apps page.
This Linkedin plugin allows you to sync your linkedin contacts to your address book - just go to the online directories section of the people app and click on the linkedin icon to login to your linkedin account. It also auto-suggests linking the contacts like Facebook for HTC sense plugin does, just need to give it some time.
Now to go and find out what the picasa update does!!
I did do that but linkedin isn't listed unfortuantely. Is there a URL that can trigger the download link?

Exchange Email Client

Thinking about getting the phone - but just have one question as this has been holding me back for a while now from getting an Android phone.
Could anyone confirm if folders and sub folders for TouchWiz email Exchange client are all on one level or have a tiered structure as per Outlook ie:
Folder 1
¦
------ Sub Folder 1
Thanks.
That woul be a very important information for me too!
Looking forward to detailed answers!
TIA
+1
Thanks!
I can't confirm the folder structure but can confirm that Activesync works.
Thanks!
Could you confirm some other things, too?
- bi-directional contacts sync
- bi-directional calendar sync
- bi-directional sync of recurring appointments
- html mails
- confirming appointments
Hmmm. Folder structure depends on the view you look at it in. It shows all my Exchange folders in a list in the main view (there's a quick dropdown to change folder) but in folder view, it shows in hierarchy.
Bi-directional contacts and calendar have been working since the original SGS and all synced to my phone fine. Not sure about recurring appointments but it syncs all of mine from Exchange to the phone fine. HTML mail works fine too (would be a bit ****ed up if it didn't!). Never tried confirming appointments so I can't say anything about that.

Thanks for the information. That's interesting because the default Android email client on 2.3.3 does not seem to include an option for folder viewing hierarchical folders...
I'm on my first full day so can report on this a bit now.
I'm trying out the stock client with an ES 2010 server. Some nice surprises:
- Full folder structure accessible
- Server search
- Task sync (!)
- Decent interface (don't love the dark background for the email list...)
- Syncs faster than my Atrix running Froyo
- Nice little widget icon showing unread emails
- it's got a crazy 2-pane inbox view w/preview when in landscape mode (think tablet view or desktop Outlook) - this is really cool!
- Out of office setting
On the downside, the email list widget sucks - it doesn't scroll and only shows 3 most recent (not even unread) emails so that's a bit of a disappointment. Also the calendar widgets are nice but they're too large and not resizable. Thankfully Calwidget works fine.
I'm going to try to live with it. I have a paid TD license and I had gotten used to their widgets on my Atrix, but I suspect stock is more battery friendly.
Thanks for the info. Would you mind posting some screenshots of the email client. I used Froyo, and I can't even do a search on my emails. I ended up using TD as well. Do we have search now? Is there pinch to zoom on emails? If not, can we resize font size? and How? sorry too many questions.
Thanks in advance.

11. It will go through it's motions and then the next time your phone syncs w/ Windows Live your FB's birthdays will be in your calendar

It wasn't for me The way I did it only involved me doing something w/ FB's driect site and the Windows Live Calendar. I think MAngo made it poss., but the way to get it is not done throigh Mango directly.
Why not add the tutorial in the first place instead of just asking if people want a tutorial? Then, even if people decide it's not necessary, those who have your same experience will have something to reference.

Didn't want to waste time if it was already published somewhere else.
Can you somehow remove the automatic creation of alarms for the birthdays?
Thought Mango synced Facebook events which will show birthdays in your calendar.

I think it might be that our Windows Live / Facebook integration always synched birthday calendars, its just that pre-Mango there was only support for primary calendars.
Thank you for this I was looking for a way to do this! I noticed that I had never logged into my calendar on live.com once I did and set my timezone and did a sync it found all of my birthday's from facebook!
To add your facebook birthdays without this export import thing above (only Mango):
1. Login at live.com -> Calendar
2. Click "New" and "Birthday Calendar" (or something like that in english)
3. Click "Save"
4. Resync your live account on WP7
Now all facebook birthdays are there. Be sure to add your facebook account to your live account before.
To remove just delete (at live.com) or disable (at WP7) the birthday calendar.
is not working
BTW, is it the only sync is the default calendar? and you can't put the calendar to default? CMIIW.

Can you be more specific? What's not the working exactly?
OT:
Doe's WP7 (NoDo/Mango) reminds me on Birthday's when I set them in LIVE Contacts?

It still can't be sync on my phone, Using the steps on first post. And I notice that it must be the default calendar set on the live calendar? how I can do that? because the subcribed calendar can't set to default calendar.

When you first setup Your Windows Phone You have to login or subscribe to a LIVE/MSN/HoTMaiL account, this is Your main/default account.

Hmmm, I didn't have to set it as my default. You know what, I'm using Mango and now that I think about it, I should have put that in the title.
If you're using Mango, then all you have to do it subscribe to the FB calendar link that you copied from the FB site. In your phone calendar, makes sure it's selected to sync w/ the FB calendar and you should be good.

Thanks! I don't really start any posts, but I thought once I figured it put that I should share it. I know I tried quite a few things since I bought the phone last year.
Yeah, I bought that a couple of months ago. I was using that up until this too.
