Hi all,
i did update the rom on my rhodium with the latest one from HTC.
Now,in Opera,in landscape mode, with the hardware keyboard slided out,the soft panel button appears each time in lower middle of the screen, when i type an url in the top bar.
This is very annoying,as it hides the opera middle button for tabs, whicj i need often.
In the previous rom, with hardware keyboard slided out,the sip was simply turned off,or invisible.
Does anybody know, how to get rid of the soft input panel, when the hardware keyboard is slided our,or may be in landsacpe mode?
Thanks
Y.

Looking into solutions but so far I have none. Any thoughts, anyone? Thanks in advance!
i use fakesip
although its an all-or-nothing solution, it completely replaces the soft keyboard, supposedly you can switch back by selecting a different soft keyboard, but that doesnt work for me and i have to uninstall to get the soft keyboard back (which is fine for me since i never use the soft keyboard)

anyone know whether hermes have the software which can make our hermes when sliding keyboard, it will direct unlock the keypad. something like when we press the power button from sleep mode.
any idea?
in kaiser, we have the software while sliding keyboard, it will have sound.
what i want to find is when sliding keyboard, the screen will on.
I'd like too for the Hermes if possible.
I believe it's could not be done.. or extremely difficult.
It is because the keyboard slide is using some magnet to detect and rotate the screen... not trigger by software.
The same goes for the slide and sound...

yes, but you see the screen rotate, i think it also done by the registry setting.
so what i think is maybe we can just add one more entry at registry there~to make it work~~
dont know can or not, just my imagine~
Not sure if this is what your looking for, but try this post right here
Ive tried editing the registry on my hermes to make the Keyboard SLIDING sounds, and it didn't work.. because our keyboards have magnet sensors as opposed to hardware/software sensors.. So I dont think it will be possible..
thats means the sliding sound keyboard also will not working on hermes?
damn i was hoping i could get keyboard sliding sounds working on the hermes.. it'd be good if there was a way found!
if you download S2U2 from on the forum somewhere it gives you the 'ipod' slide to unlock screen which has a setting to unlock the phone when you slide it open HTH
Can anyone point me to a registry key that tells the Phone Keyboard to expand/open when the HTC dialer opens. It was working fine and then it spontaneously stopped appearing. The icon at bottom center is still there and I can tap it to bring it up. But I would prefer the default arrangement where it opens with the Dialer. ROM is XBMod 2.03 but I have posted it here as it is quite possible a generic setting that would be of use to any ROM. To clarify - the Phone Keyboard SIP is selected - that is not the issue. The Problem is that the dialer comes up with is minimised at the bottom.
Rather not hard reset but will do that if the answer is not obvious.
My on-screen keyboard is only displaying numbers, with no option to switch to qwerty. The only qwerty characters available are "p" and "w", which appear to the top right of the keyboard.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get the normal qwerty keyboard back??

Did you disable eT9 and to get Auto suggest and auto complete back? If so that is probably what did it.
I had the same problem when I hacked my Tilt 2 to get get auto suggest and auto complete back. Apparently when you do this it works fine until the fallowing happens:
A. You get to a field that triggers you keyboard to switch number entry mode (Nummber pad with P and W)
b. You get to a field that trigger the keyboard to internet entry mode (Keyboard with ".com" and "/" but no spacebar).
Once you enter either mode you can't key you regular keyboard back.
If that is what happened to you, your not the only one.

I haven;t found a way to make it work without breaking the keyboard. I had to do a clear storage and learn to use T9. It better than a broken keyboard.
Yes that's what I did. If I have auto-suggest but NOT auto-complete on do you know if this will avoid the problem??

I'm not really sure. I tried several ways and nothing worked, my guess is your are likely to still have an issue. BTW going back an changeing the registry edits back did not fix the issues for me. I had to clear storage and start from scratch each time.
For now I'm learning to live with XT9. I don't like it as much as the original, but it is usable. The alternative is using MS tiny little SW keyboard, and to me, that is even worse.
Now if someone could figure out how to keep the alternate keyboards from popping up, in theory, that should remedy the issue. Unfortunately, I have no such skill.

Try this to fix it: start Opera, tap the url field, which will bring up the "search the web" field. Then tap the "search the web" field. This should fix your keyboard (at least it works for me), at least until the next time something triggers the keyboard problem.

Thanks for the input, good to know.
That may be a work around for the Internet input issue (maybe), but we still have the issue with the numeric input Keyboard. Thus far the best option, at least for me, is to live with XT9 until a terminate fix is found.
On the bright side, over all I love my TP2/Tilt2!

Actually, this works for the numeric input keyboard issue as well - I have experienced this first hand. addmittedly, it is a bit of a pain to switch from whatever you happen to be doing, to opera, just to fix your keyboard.
Is it possible to stop the soft keyboard to popup by default? If I read an SMS in portrait the soft keyboard will show and take up half the screen, but if I would reply I would flip out the hard keyboard and type on that.
Still it's good to have the option to type with the soft keyboard, so I dont want to remove it completely, only stop it from showing by default.

The advanced configuration tool has a setting for this. I can't say if it works, I've never tried to shut mine off.

I've been using an old Palm bluetooth keyboard with my android devices since switching from a Palm device several years ago. I just recently purchased a BT keyboard specifically designed for the Note 10.1 2014 and from first connection noticed this bar that pops up at the bottom of the screen whenever the keyboard is in use. The little button with the "^" in the corner doesn't seem to do anything. Not sure what it's for. Is this something that normally happens with BT keyboards and I haven't encountered it because I've been using an older Palm BT keyboard?
Looks like a placeholder for a nav bar, which the note don't need, or ads. Ad blockers which work with non-rooted devices produce such empty placeholders.
I'm not running any ad blocker (even though my device is rooted), but this only shows up when I first connect the BT keyboard??? Weird stuff.
Well, the black bar still persists except that I figure out a workaround to get rid of it. It's just a matter of connection order. I have to turn on the keyboard first, then turn on BT on the tablet, go to a text field and when the onscreen keyboard pops up just press the spacebar and on the external keyboard and I'm good to go -- no black bar and a completely functional external keyboard.

this didnt work, did you end up figuring oout whwat causes this? im usung a galaxy note pro 12.2
I did not figure out any other way to avoid it happening other than the work-around I mentioned. I believe it's the auto-spelling-correct or maybe the auto-complete, but don't know for sure.
I have the same problem on my note 12.2. Simple install "External Keyboard Helper" from Play Store and enable the on screen keyboard and choose "External Keyboard Helper" if you will be asked. Now your BT keyboard is a soft-Keyboard and no black bar was seen again.
