I got my desire yesterday. Really love this phone. But I got a problem. The WiFi works as it should. But it stops working after I wake the phone from sleep mode. I have to toggle WiFi off then on again to get it work.
Is there a solution?

How long did you wait after awakening the phone?
It takes mine 2-4 mins to restart the connection after awakening, automatically. It's always worked.

Hmm.. I found out, Desire actually still connected to my WiFi router during sleep.
So there is no problem with reconnection at all.
I tried to wait 4-5 min. ord still connected but the ip wasent refreshing.

You can change this setting by doing the following:
Go to Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wi-Fi Settings. Click the Menu button again and select the Advanced option. Select Wi-Fi sleep policy and then set the relevant option.

That doesn't help I've had my desire on that option since I got it yet the wi-fi constantly goes idle and stops checking for updates etc, the only time I get email notifications on my phone is when I stay on mobile data.
Already on "never".
Somtimes the WiFi works, somtimes it dont.

Guys,
Since tmpbile and orange merged, I automatically roam between them.
Each time the phone switches, it plays the notification sound, even when ringer is off - its driving me nuts.
Appears to be no way to turn off in software either.
Anyone any ideas?

I don't know how you could miss it though, you'd have been there to check the option directly above it to enable Data roaming!
Oh, for fuu......! Thanks. You're utterly right. I could have sworn that wasn't there a minute ago!
Thanks

When I installed my ROM, and on first boot I was given an option for when to use data.
Wifi only, or WiFi and Mobile Networks.
Now, I am going on holiday in a week and wanted to switch it to WiFi only to avoid data roaming charges.
Can anyone help, I cannot find it in the settings.
Settings > wireless and networks > mobile network.

Obviously I looked there first. There doesn't seem to be a "WiFi Only" option.
If I just deselect Data Roaming, will that essentially do what I want?
Yes, just turn off mobile network and turn on WiFi.

In the widgets > settings widgets you can choose mobile network and wifi network (as well as gps and bluetooth) screen widgets so you can toggle them on and off.... when not wanting to use mobile data, its good to have those widgets on one of your screens (as the dashboard widgets are usually missing one or another of those 4 essentials)
saves time from going into the settings repeatedly just to turn something on or off.

If I turn of mobile network, wont I be unable to make calls or receive texts?

It is stated in the setting that it enable/disable data packet usage over mobile network. It has absolutely nothing to do with your phone call whatsoever. What makes you think that way?
Just kidding. In extreme cases, to prevent data on moblie network, one uses firewall to block access to any applications that try to access it.

All you need to do is deselect Mobile Network. Even the description says its used to connect to the internet.
a question really easy
My wi fi connection automatically goes off when I lock the screen, so I can't receive any kind of notifications that require data connection or using AirDroid, for example... Does someone has any solution?

Does anyone know how to disable 3g + call + untraceable so only Wifi works?
Turn on airplane mode? I believe wifi is the only thing that can be turned on in airplane mode.

Try turning off the mobile network. Settings>Wireless & Networks, uncheck Mobile Network. Than go to Mobile Network Settings and at the bottom uncheck Enable always-on mobile data. Only thing I can think of! Hope it works for you!

I was talking more of permanent solution, probably flashable mod.
No calls in or out, too.

Hmm. I haven't seen anything like that around. So basically you want to turn your phone into a mini tablet? http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

From terminal type:
su
radiooptions
This will display the list of options for the radio (if I remember correctly 1 disables)
Make your selection and exit terminal
The only thing is it doesn't stick on a reboot. You'll have to do this each time you boot. I do have a script that you can use that does it for you and you can set it to run on boot to turn the radio off on boot. I'll post a link soon if you want to look at it.
Edit: Here's a link to the original thread. Download link is still good. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16615634
Hi,
after the Update for my M9 to Android 6.0, i got a annoying Problem with Wifi.
I get my Push Notifications ours Later, and only if i unlock the Display. I tried Factory Reset. disabled the Wifi Optimizier, forgot the App Settings and lots of other Stuff.
Also i checked my Wifi Connections in the Router Menu, but i have a good Signal.
If i look at Google Play Services (*#*#426#*#*) i see a Error Message thats looks like "err:FIN network:1 time: 42341"
Befor the Update i had no Problems. I don't know what to do.
And sorry for my bad English.
Enable background wifi and test your signal is good and not dropping out.
Make sure your wifi isn't set to powersave mode where it switches off when the screen is off. There could also be an option for allowing apps to update over wifi while charging.. Set it to always.

Where I can find the Wi-Fi power safe mode?
You'll find it under "settings > WLAN > press the 3-dot Menu > choose advanced". There you can change WLAN to always on and disable Battery optimization while in WLAN. This should solve your problem.

I done this settings already. Didn't worked for me.
Any other ideas or solutions?
Check your network for ip conflicts, dns resolving and Network Address Translation.
