Most of the callers complain that my number is switched off but I never power off my handset. I tried with another number and observed the same while my HTC Desire was in front of me and powered on. this is continuing for over 24 hours now and is very disappointing. At times it do connects but most of the time not.
Do you have 3g on? Are you on T-Mobile?
3G is off and I'm currently not in England and using an un-locked device.
I had this problem, it was saying the number was not available. I called T mobile and they did something to see if there was a problem with the routing when they ported my number, not had this problem since...
Problems seems to be while mail is being fetched through a data connection. The problem was also reported with windows mobile (older versions) where data seesion was not suspended during an incoming call. I dont know how to do any tweaking for this on an android OS.
is there any tweaking possible on Android phones like registry editing on windows mobile phones
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Android is not based on a registry system (not like Windows, and Windows mobile) Android is based on Linux kernel, which uses files system.
regarding the off/on... is your reception low or fluctuating? maybe its just that the reception is very low, how many reception bars you get
i have full bars. I was using HTC Touch Pro2 earlier at the same location for at least 10 months now. Had no issues with network. Got my HTC desire 3 days ago and have this problem ever since.
Had similar on mine. Could make calls, but no one could call me without getting various error messages.
T-Mobile sent a reset / update to the sim card and it has been fine since.
try shocking the phone...
just remove the battery without shutting down.
if that doesn't help try doing this during a call.
failing that try it again but this time, after removing the battery, remove the sim, power up. kill it buy pulling battery and then power back on.

Is it normal to have 39% battery left with normal use after 8 hours 30 mins?
Running Opendesire 4.0 and newest radio
Just asking becasue i think it's running low fast..
OJ haven't died...
your lucky,
my battery is empty after 7 hours.
desire's battery is terrible. I couldn't manage to get 5h of using on it.
I am running the stock htc sense 2.2 rom, and my battery with moderate to heavy use would hold out for 24 hours. Something is badly wrong if you are getting less than 12. It was pretty much the same for me on 2.1 too. Getting 38+ hours now I'm using tasker.
Custom roms are supposed to be more efficient too. Have you looked to see what is using the power? A rouge app perhaps?

I wrote this post the other day and just to update it i ended up getting 60 hours on one full charge which is pretty amazing. Some of the other posters had a go at me about turning mobile internet off and wifi off but who cares i got 60 HOURS!!!!
Hi Everyone,
I thought id share the amazing battery life im having, ive had it going for 48 hours so far and still got 45% of my battery still left, ill tell you all my set up and i wish you can get the same.
Installed LeeDroids rom (1.9a) which is absolutely amazing i must say, i love it.
Got the new radio 32.44.00.32u_5.09.05.30_2.
SetCPU running and have the normal standby on the phone at 642mhz and 245mhz when the screen is off.
I also have a task killer on set to kill most apps when the screen turns off and i have read about androids memory management but it makes me feel better when i run it and i personally think it helps.
Finally, and possibly the most important is an app called AutoKiller that interacts with androids internal memory management system and i have that set to ultimate.
I think thats it, and i have been using the phone averagely, and have turned off wifi and mobile internet and only use it when i need it.
Good luck everyone, hope this is helpful in someway.
I used to get 6 to 12 hours after I recovered my phone from being usb bricked. I'd missed a vital part of the recovery procedure! Now I get over 24 hours with heavy usage. I'm also using Setcpu.

Sorry bad English. I have rooted Desire + DeFrost and battery life is about 10-12 hour.
Chances are that anyone who is getting really bad battery life has a rogue app installed.
FWIW, I installed the Sky News app yesterday, and found, via Spare Parts, that it was stopping the phone from sleeping and creaming my battery life. I installed it, and things went back to normal.
Regards,
Dave
how to find which software etc is gulping the most battery?
There are two ways of doing this. The quickest is to open your dialer, and dial the following; *#*#4636#*#*
This code will open up a hidden menu. Select 'battery history'.
From here you can see what aspects of your phone are using which resources from selecting from the drop-down menu. Try looking at 'partial wake usage'. This will show up any rogue apps that are doing the phone from going to sleep. In fact, check them all out.
The second way is to download an app called 'spare parts' which gives you access to this hidden menu without using the dialer.
Hope this reveals the culprit!

you are doing something very wrong if that is the case.
15h1m and i'm on 73%.
29 hours. 41%
I'm relatively new to android but my last two windows mobile based devices have had much longer battery life if I set the network mode to GSM only. Would this be the same for the desire or would it be better on WCDMA only?
GSM will only give you 2g bandwidth, but yes the battery will last longer. CDMA will give you 3g and HSDPA. I leave mine on this and get 36 hours typically.

The biggest issue with doing this is that you won't get simultaneous voice and data over the cellular network. If some tries to call you whilst your phone is syncing (and thus actively using data), the call will go straight to voicemail.
Regards,
Dave
2d 18h and on 16% with mobile internet on, sync on etc. But my usage is fairly low, about 20 mins voice, 10 texts approx, 20 mins 3G web browsing and about 10 mins of gaming.
On heavy use, it will last at least 24hrs - not bad, though I use setcpu to adjust max clock speed to about 700mhz and I have not notice any difference in terms of slow down.
Also I am not using any task killers apps.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I use Timeriffic to automatically turn on airplane mode at night every night and off in the morning.

That not happen on my phone, FORTUNALLY!!! If my phone is on 2g and have the internet connection active and some tries to call me, the internet connection will stopped and i can get the call..Maybe depends on the operator? (anyway my desire is unbranded with stock froyo 2.2)

Yes - I probably should've mentioned that this is carrier dependent, but most carriers don't seem to be implement it.

Hi,
I have been using the HTC One V for a month now and it has been good so far. Except one nagging issue -
Intermittently my data connection gets disconnected and the mobile data connection setting shows "disconnected because service is unavailable"
This happens often but not at any set interval. At this point to restart network data I need to either restart the phone or move the phone to airplane mode for a few minutes.
Anybody else having this issue? Seems software related.
oh yes ! i thought i was the only one who suffers this issue. in the first time, i thought this happens bcs of my carrier.
i need to restart my phone whenever i get this.
theres plenty of bugs from sense 4.0 on htc one v that i've had

Yes....it is a problem with your service provider....

That is honestly unlikely. It never happened with my earlier Xperia X10 and I use the same SIM card. More over, the problem gets sorted if I restart the phone.
^
so did my htc wildfire and dell streak. i had those 2 devices before one v and never had this kind of issue
From some googling I find that a lot of people are having this issue on HTC One devices.
No ones seems to know a fix.
I had the same issue. This app solved it for me.
When connection gets disconnected, it reconnects it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.connectionstabilizerbooster
So I had a HTC One X which was mostly OK, it had the screen flex issue but I decided to live with that, occasionally wouldn't connect to wifi, but did 95% of the time, lived with that also. That got stolen last week ... got a replacement from the insurance company today.
This one, when using DHCP either just loops with 'Obtaining IP Address' or, if using static, it connects to WiFi quickly but then WiFi doesn't actually work. If you open up a browser it starts the connection then just hangs there forever.
On the odd time it does connect via DHCP it does the same, so I'm inclined to think that it's not my Static network settings, but a problem with the device.
Obviously I've read about the hardware issue, but the WiFi connection shows full strength so it doesn't seem exactly like the WiFi power issues that some are experiencing.
I'm running the latest 1.29.x update. I've rebooted my router several times. Restarted the phone several times. Tried a different broadband connection and WiFi router (wouldn't connect at all to that).
Am I missing something or should I sent this thing back to HTC?
Seems like what I had some tine ago. I suggest you get a replacement, as I did

Send it for replacement mate ... You don't have to live with that ... It should work out of the box without any modification.
Thanks, I'll return it.
HTC have really dropped the ball with this phone and it's a shame. I've used HTC phones for 7 years (back when they ran Windows Mobile 6 and were branded by HP and others). The quality was always great. They must have rushed the One X to market.
I have the same issue but only at my gf home? Tried every thing but still no luck! I think its related to my router and it could be fixed by buying a different one. But I wont let the damn thing win =p keep trying when I'm at her place, no pass, wep, wpa, wpa2 or b/g/n haha I'm afraid I'm out of options!
If plenty of other devices can connect to a router fine and the HTC One X is the only device that can't, I think it's a fair assumption to blame the phone, not the router.
Called HTC .. "you need to sent it back to the supplier". Almost certain the supplier will tell me to call HTC .. and so it starts.
Slowly it starts to suck more and more. Last night I was in a bar with friends. The bar has wifi. Earlier phones worked fine. I was sitting next to the router. And it didn't work really well. Ended up rebooting phone, just to use a few more minutes wifi before the problem started again. It shouldn't be hardware related, but if this doesn't change with the next updates I really think I'm gonna get another phone. I love this phone though but I don't wanna have trouble with wifi...

I had two phones belonging to the same batch (40 or so numbers inbetween). They were both runnning the same software version. The first behaived like yours does. I spent four nights trying to get it fixed or find an answer. In the end I had it replaced and couldn't be happier. I beliewe it's hardware. Go have it replaced. Good luck!

Any news on this issue? My Wifi worked fine for several weeks after I received my One X, but since end of last week I'm having the same problem as described in the previous posts:
Good or even full signal, but seemingly no data transmission. This happens with all kinds of apps (browser, Play Store, Facebook app, HTC wheather app, ...) and independent from the WLAN I'm connected to (at work, at home, at my parents',...). Previously it worked in the same WLANs without any problem and there haven't been any configuration changes in the phone or on the routers.
The problem doesn't persist. Sometimes it takes several reconnects to make it work, sometimes it works from the beginning. Sometimes I don't even do anything after the problem occured and some minutes later I receive mail via Wifi. Don't know if the phone reconnected automatically in the meantime for some reason, though.
I sent the phone back. New one is coming tomorrow, we'll see if it has the same problem.
Buying Samsung next time. :|
I can hardly believe it is a hardware problem. I mean, it worked fine for more than a month in my case.
Received the new handset .. does exactly the same thing.
I'd be included to think it's my router if I didn't tried so many different devices.
<sigh> Back on the phone to HTC support I guess. One day I'll own a phone that works.
my device has the same problem like this.
did the htc official say it is something wrong about the tegra3 cpu?
I am facing a very peculiar issue that makes my mobile internet dysfunctional. Whenever I switch from 2G/3G to WiFi and then switch back to 2G/3G from WiFi, the internet refuses to work unless I restart my phone. Once, the phone is restarted, it works like a charm again till the time I switch to WiFi again. Sometimes though, 2G/3G would not work even if I do not switch to WiFi. Also, rarely, it still may work even as I switch back from WiFi to 2G/3G. This issue has plagued me since a long time and is sometimes accompanied by call drops.
I took my phone to a Samsung Service centre but it wasn't of any use. They do nothing except reflashing the stock rom. It did fix the problem for a while but in an hour or in a day(or in some random time duration) the problem resurfaced. I took my phone to the service centre, just to get this problem fixed. I have tried switching between different modes in settings: GSM/WCDMA/auto etc
I also tried contacting my mobile carrier and got my sim card changed. Therefore, the mobile carrier is not at fault (Internet works flawlessly after I restart, remember?). How do I fix this? It is really irritating to restart the phone every time I need to use the internet. Please help! :-/
Maybe try flashing a different modem. I had various data and call issues on my i9300. After flashing 10 or so different modems I found one from aveuropean carrier worked best. Im in the uk btw

But I've never flashed a modem before and have no clue which one to choose. Is it same as flashing a custom rom? Also, can I brick my device while flashing modems?
Yes its similar to flashing custom ROM. What ROM are you on and what modem are you on?
McLaren__F1, I am on stock 4.1.2. Also, I just tried flashing DDALJ1 modem (As I'm from India) and Perseus kernel. None of these steps helped me in any way. Still the same issues. :-/

Not a fix, but toggling airplane mode on and off does the job for me.
Interestingly this happens to me only when leaving one particular WiFi access point.

i got exatly same proplem, 3g not working after leaving wifi of my workplace, but when im home i have no proplems if i decide leave my home network.
could it be related to radio type wifi has?? my workplace still using old hardware with radiotype of .g and leaving that network "kills" mobile network and i need to reboot phone, but my home network is .n and im not having proplems after leaving it. if its related to wifis radiotype it should be easy for someone to write script which reboot mobile network after leaving those wifi networks.

No one has a solution for this problem on XDA?
Did you use the NFC to scan anything by any chance? I don't know if it could be related but my phone started to have issues around the same time I bought some NFC tags and started programming and scanning them.
I still haven't got my replacement phone back yet. But I'll let you know if it still has issues in my problem spots. Than we'll know if the problem was with the phone or just this model.

Ohh, okay..Eagerly waiting for your response! *Fingers crossed*
Tested replacement phone today and the problem seems to be gone. The signal was actually stronger than all my previous phones.
This issue could be a hardware problem as from what I have searched on the net it seams to affect only a few people. I just hope if I root the phone the problems don't come back.
Maybe you could try send it away for repair if they won't replace it.

Hi,
I am not sure if this thread already exists but I am a bit caught up with this issue with my HTC One X(Arabic Version)
For the past One month I have been facing the issue initially I thought it was due to my old SIM card so I replaced it & still the issue exists.
What happens is that even when the signal bars are full and seems to be connected to the network I am not able to make phone calls, send Text messages or use the Mobile Data in short no network usage.
This usually happens when I am using the Mobile Data when suddenly it stops functioning but I dont get notified as the Network bars are still good enough.
The only way to get the network back is by restarting the Device.
I am using a Custom ROM.
Will going back to Stock help or this is a Hardware Issue???
A prompt reply will be really appreciated as the loss of network is causing delays in my daily works..
Thanks in Advance!!!

It's not for the One X but the process is the same.

I doubt it'll work but maybe it will for one or two people.
