Get the Nexus One's opening animation on the Desire - Desire General

Hey, another question...
Is there a way to get the Nexus One's animation for opening programs on the Desire?
Installing the Launcher2.apk unfortunately didn't do it. Maybe there's another version of it with the animations?
Or is there any other way to do it?

Not before root access has been released

And when/if root access is possible, how will it be done, then?

well i don't know for sure but probably just changing a file in the root file system

Thanks. I hope somebody can figure it out.

You'd have to flash a new bootscreen, not hard, needs root.

No, I don't mean the bootscreen. I mean the animation when opening apps from the home screen.

I read somewhere that its currently exclusive to the nexus one 2.1 but it will be as standard in froyo. Maybe we'll have to wait til froyo is out (unless you want to root)

It's available on the Motorola Droid as well.

Wow, didn't know that! If the droid has it, we should have it too!

We definitely should have it. It's soo nice, I miss it since I exchanged the Nexus for a Desire.

You are NOT talking about the bootscreen are you? You mean that when you open an app, it 'fades in' and 'fades out'? (like on the iPhone?)
From what I know, but then again may be removed from the Desire, you must go to options, screen options and somewhere in these options there is a 'animation' option.
Please see this vid and around 3:30, he shows how to turn on that 'animation'.
Now I do not know if this is what you are talking about, but even if it is not, could somebody please tell me if this option is also present on the Desire?

Yes, that option is present, but only activates the screen transitions inside of apps, but not the launch animation. On the Nexus and Droid, it activates ALL animations.
It seems HTC have taken those animations out. I really don't understand why, and I want them back.

NOEZ!
I can't believe this... slowly there are more and more things that make me be unsure about the Desire. First the battery life, second the bad sound volume and now I hear that the awesome 'launch' fade-in and out a la iPhone animation is not present.
Could somebody tell me if this can be changed after rooting the Desire? Which btw, is something like 'jailbreaking' your iPhone right? Is it hard to root a device running Android like the Desire?

Battery life is quite good, about the same as the HD2 I had before. I also have no complaints about the sound volume, don't know what people are talking about.
Only complaints I have are the missing animations and the limited internal storage (since it still can't be rooted).
I'm really happy with the device apart from that. It's so much nicer with Android, than the HD2 was.

Jailbreaking = Technically Illegal
Rooting = Enabling the root account on a linux system (aka Administrator).
It should be available in "Spare Parts" after rooting.

No, it is NOT illegal. It's merely a breach of the EULA; which has bugger all to do with legalities. The worst that can happen is that you invalidate your warranty by "jailbreaking". (I hate that term as well, it's merely CID and SIM unlocking, something we've being doing on XDA for years, but nooooo.... Apple users just HAVE to have their own word for it, as if they invented the whole concept...)

I'm hoping HTC enable it in an update. Any chance of that happening?

Now that it's rooted, does anyone know how we could get it?

I noticed in the video posted that even after the nexus one enabled all animations it didn't have the "zoom" animation from within the settings (like going from main settings list to the wireless or sound and display menu)
Is it possible to have the zoom animation everywhere, i am sure i has this before with other roms. It may have been called moto blur or just blur animations?

PC36100 instead of Evo

After completing full root and nand unlock, my Evo no longer calls itself an Evo... If I go to menu > settings > about phone > phone identity, it is called PC36100. This is also true when going through the initial setup wizard(adding gmail accts, etc) it refers to itself as a PC36100. I realize this doesn't really affect the usage of the phone, but I find it very annoying... Is there a way to correct/prevent this? Or is it an unavoidable side effect of rooting with the current methods?
This is normal, and is the same for stock.

Does it even display as an Evo in a stock rom? As far as I'm concerned, it's a PC36100. I'd rather see the model name than the marketed name.

So I Then Immediately Format Everything So It Was Stock, And Now I Still Have No App Market, Youtube, Sprint Football... Yeeees, right. I shifted the end-letters for fun ...
I've been trying to work out how the SDK image would work on actual handsets, and the only answer I come to is "crashariffic". If you set up an AVD to run at 480x800, then it defaults to a regular Android skin, but Launcher crashes. However, it works if you set the LCD density to 100 or less - but then it would be unusable on all but the largest of handsets - the Desire HD or Dell Streak, for example.
If I had another handset.. er.. handy, I'd try flashing my SGS with it just to see.

Not a good idea.
But maybe some parts could be useful for optimization or theming.
I wanted to try out the new clock font for the lockscreen.
No luck so far. On Froyo, or Gingerbread it's Clockopia.ttf.
On Honeycomb it's split across two files named AndroidClock.ttf and AndroidClock_Highlight.ttf.
One for vertical and one for horizontal bars. I can only get one to display.
Any ideas on this?
gallery doesn't work too

Nothing will work
The apps were built for a higher API Level, so it wont install without modifications.
You modify the APKs and hope that they dont use any new APIs.

[Q] How can I make the Bluetooth discoverable all the time?

Hi,
Yeah I'm aware its "danageraus" to put the BT discoverable and on all the time, but still,
Is there a way to make it on discoverable with no time limit (120 seconds)?
Thank you.
Yarden.
MMM you tried with bluetooth on/off widget by Curve Fish?
also the HTC stock bluetooth widget does it,,,
What do you mean by HTC stock bluetooth widget?
Can you explain that please? I don't understand where you see it.
BTW, the curve fish doesn't have that option.
Only, on and off, nothing about the "Discoverable" marking.

the htc stock widget its in the widgets section in(long press on desktop..etc..)
and then browse the settings widgets and select the bluetooth widget...

if u enables this widget your device is visible all the time,,
Thank you for helping but unfortunately you are wrong.
I'm not visible to any one, I must go to settings to enable this 120 seconds Discoverable option.
Maybe you tested it with Known-Partner and he already got you on list, but with new people it can't be visible, I just tested trice.

this method didn't work.
The time do get changed from 120 to 0 and successfully store but the permission after reboot return to read and write
If permissions won't stay, use root explorer and on properties press "sticky", and they stay there.
However, I'd simply go for JB or ICS, who have the visibility option in settings...
rather than giving the "sticky" to anything, since it's a special permission, for which, I admit, I don't know the full impact on system.

I have transferred the file to another device and changed everything with root explorer. This time all sticked well but these changes does not produce any effect in the stock Rom.
Regarding ICS and JB roms I haven't found one for this device yet. The ones that claim to be are just roms dressed with apps and mods to look like one. Not real ports.

Motorola touchless control APK

Here's a link to check it out. Not sure if it works. If anybody wants to test out the APK, please report back with your results.
Thanks but the app is only installable on the ULTRA, MAXX, Mini, and Moto X.
it installs without problems, but doesn't appear in appdrawer, and playstore says it's incompatible with the One
I have installed the .apk, but can't start it, as it isn't present as an actual app. I think, we also need the settings app directly from the Moto X/Droid Series, in order to be able to set up the actual touchless cotrols app.
Application installed just fine on my Telus Galaxy S3 with CM10.2. Added the activities shortcut through Nova Launcher. Tried to launch each activity but it just crashed.
Rebooted and continuous errors.
There's something unique in Motorola's framework similar to TouchWiz/Sense etc. I know this is the HTC One forums, but I felt like trying it out

Touchless controls is going to require a Motorola Phone. It requires a specific low-core processor that allows the phone to be constantly listening, if we kept the mic in our phones on 24/7 without Motorola's specific hardware, our battery would die in 1 hour.

I was at work and couldn't download it and play with it. I have since tried it (it failed for me too), and have done some more digging. Apparently, the Moto X has a core in it's processor made to do just this. We do not have that core. Looks like this is a lost cause...
Stop saying core! It's a DSP, noting 'core' about that. .
But yes, this is useless without that chip. There is a app on play store that does the same thing and you can even set the wake phrase ('Jarvis!'). Haven't tried it so I cannot comment on battery, but I'm sure it uses quite a bit.

Double press power button to launch camera

Okay, call me crazy, but I am positive that that shortcut was not present before. I have the latest security patch, no root, no bootloader unlocked, no custom rom. I double pressed it and the camera launched. I don't know if it has to do with hiding the stock Sense Home screen via adb. I don't know what I did. I don't find a setting or anything in the entire system.

Yeah, I read it somewhere, it's one of the effects of disabling the HTC Lockscreen. Having the stock Android Lockscreen enables that double press shortcut.
I have a question too though, does the fingerprint scanner work on the Stock Android Lockscreen?
