Hi Guys,
I'm hoping it's just me - but there were a number of issues I was of the impression should have been fixed with Froyo / 2.2 and after updating it would appear that they're not.
Could someone please confirm if I'm wrong - and the following do infact exist:
1) Bluetooth voice dialing. Doesn't appear to be active in Froyo 2.2. I was told that this version was supposed to support voice dialing over bluetooth. Is this just a Desire issue, or have I not activated something I should.
2) Contacts Notes cut off after 1k of information. (ie, if you sync from Outlook and you have very long notes for a client - it does not put all onto the Droid). This is a real disappointment.
3) Weather has not been fixed. (It will detect my location and show me weather, but I can not manually add my location if I'm somewhere else. Only shows a few main cities around the world).
4) Every application I've installed so far I haven't had the opportunity to save to SD.
Is anyone able to confirm please or am I missing some steps?
Cheers
Adza
#3: When you're in the weather app, click the "add" symbol in the lower right corner and add you location. I just type in the city name. At least that works for me.
#4: I think that the app has to support the ability to install to SD-card. Have you tried an app that specifically says that it can be installed on the Sd-card? Don't hold it against me if that isn't correct. Haven't tested it myself yet.
Hi Boll,
Thanks for your reply...
#4 - I think you may be right...
#3 - Nope. Only a few selected locations (capital cities / large cities) are available.
On the weather screen it will tell me the weather wherever I am (even in a 1 person 2 dog town!!!) but when I try to add new locations they only show main cities (I'm guessing populations greater than 1 million people) or capital cities.
Cheers

#1 This works fine for me in the latest froyo htc release and also in previous custom roms
#2 These are contact notes and if you have over 1k of notes you need to store them in another file or document.
4 - the app installs to the phone - settings applications / manage applications - select the app and use the move to SD Card/Phone option if available.
Hi Guys, and thanks for your replies...

Interesting. Most of the posts I've seen on here relating to the desire say the opposite. Are you able to access the functions / app / settings via the phone (ie, not by pressing the bluetooth button), and if so can you please tell me the path to get to these settings so I can see if they are on my phone too.

The problem being if you sync with outlook, outlook allows for much more than 1k. The phone syncs and truncates anything over 1k - but when it syncs the next time - it updates the computer and truncates what is on outlook.
If the phone will never support notes more than 1k then they need to change the way it syncs so it doesn't delete whatever is on the computer. This is a very serious problem for business users.

For 1) you mean as per Car Dock? It's in there. On home screen go to + add widgets, shortcuts, apps, etc. Select settings as a shortcut (not a widget) and among the options with is Car Dock and Dock Settings.
Hi Al89nut,
Do you have the official HTC Desire Froyo, or another one?
I've just done as you've mentioned and I have no Car Dock or Dock Settings in my list of shortcuts.
My phone shows the following:
Android Version:
2.2
Baseband version
32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20
Kernel Version
2.6.32.15-gf9c0527
Build Number
2.09.405.8
Software Number
2.09.405.8
Browser version
WebKit 3.1

Azda,
Standard HTC 2.2 d/l on Sunday.
I might have explained it badly.
Home Screen
Press + key
Select "Shortcut"
Scroll down to "Settings" and select it
and there they should be - among them are "Car Dock" and "Dock Settings"
I just checked and they are there.
hi al89nut,
Thanks for the clarification. Didn't realise it was under settings. Now I have Dock Settings and Car Dock, but still can't get voice dialing anywhere.
I take it this is for a car dock though (wired) and not bluetooth, or is there something else I need to do too?
Cheers
Adza
I don't think so. If you look at the Car Dock settings it says Auto connect to Bluetooth devices, presumably meaning that voice-dialling is possible via the dock (if only via something like the Edwin app)?

When I go into Dock Settings I have only two options:
Audio and Dock Insertion Sound.
When I click on Audio it says "The phone must be docked to configure dock audio'. Underneat the "Audio' button it says 'Phone Not Docked', but yet I am connected to my bluetooth device. (I hear my calls through my bluetooth).
I'm thinking maybe the docking is different / separate to voice dial?
I don't have a voice Dial Application in my list of applications. Do you?
Cheers

You could use Edwin - but you'd have to have the app running all the time I think. Sorry, can't get further as don't have a bluetooth thingy in my car.
Would this help

EDIT
The HTC Car Panel apk (dl in the thread) works fine with official Sense Froyo
Hi al95nut,
Thanks again for your reply. I have installed this on my phone but this appears to be some sort of splash screen for in car navigation and use. Unfortunately it doesn't add any voice dial over bluetooth features.
I guess if I want voice dialing I'm not going to be able to use Android phones without using a 3rd party ROM (which I can't do with mine as I've updated now) and I probably can't do if I buy a new one because they'll already have the latest OS on them stopping me from rooting too.
At least I know now to tell others so they can learn from my mistakes... don't buy an android if you want voice dialing over bluetooth.
One last - you're that it doesn't work if you pair the phone now that it has 2.2?
See final few comments in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=658929&page=5 = some people have got it working.
My bluetooth devices pair no problems at all, and almost all functions work. (I can talk, hear, reject calls, and do a redial by using the function button(s). The only function that does not work is initiating a voice dial.
I have HTC's Froyo 2.2. I read just this morning another post about a user who contacted HTC about this issue. The official response was:
Dear Simon, Thank your email. In regards to the voice dialing on the 2.2, it is only available in North America due to the limitations of the voice recognition software database that our phone uses. We are researching the possibility of expanding the coverage of the Voice-To-Text feature but we are still analyzing the feasibility and currently have no schedule to relay to you now. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Kind Regards,

Btw, windows mobile, windows phone 7, sync correctly ...
Thank you
Hi again..
Anyone has an idea how to fix this?
Thank you
Your phone has the option to display either way. I assume your car audio must also have this option. What does the manual for the car audio say about it?

I check that already, it does not have an option, it's an Audi MMI.
Yes the phone has the option but it does not respect the option when it sync with the car.
No problem with Nokia and winmo
I think this is a problem with android..
Thank you for your help

Hi guys,
if been wondering if there is a way to send/recieve sms or whatsapp messages through a PC Software while the DHD is connected to the computer.
Does HTC Sync support such operations?
Even better would be a Program that could control the whole Phone while it is connected just like a Emulator but for real
Is there something like that out there?
You can send/recieve real time messages with Airdroid apk
Try EasySMS it works well and gives you a webpage you can send sms from your computer or android tablet
only AirDroid from market <3
Try myphoneexplorer it's the best you sync all data. Send sms make calls ....
Download it for your phone and your pc it's free

I'm using AirDroid, and it works really good. You can do everything with it
Just an update to how I got this working in my 2013 Ford Focus with MyFord Touch.
First, CM10 Nightlies has the needed update to Bluetooth Message Access Protocol (MAP) for the MyTouch to properly read text messages as they come in. (whomever did that, thank you!)
Second, it was bugging me that the Nexus wouldn't push the full contact card, to include the contact photo, so I set out to find a way to do this. Getwiththeprogram over on the Sync Owner to Owner forum found this neat little program called Bluetooth File Transfer which has the ability to push contacts, INCLUDING pictures, to the MyFord Touch system. Below is the link. Simply remove your current phone book from the MyFord Touch, disconnect the phone from the system. Then, manually add the phone in the bluetooth settings instead of having it open for other devices to connect, where you put a code in both the phone and then on the MyFord Touch. Once connected, both the Bluetooth File Transfer software and the MyFord Touch software will see each other. Last step, on the bluetooth file software, goto options, more, then send contacts, and select which ones you want to send (all, some, whatever). On the myford touch, select ADD CONTACTS (manually again) and then have the phone push the contacts. You should see the car updating contacts, one by one. The screen will go away, but it's not done, wait for it to come back and say it's complete.
That's it... and to be honest, that took a lot of digging to find, it's not documented very well anywhere.
If you get stuck, just let me know, I might be able to help.
Bluetooth File Transfer
A quick update. I have to correct my previous post. It looks like it's either or... contact pics or mytouch (with updated bluetooth MAP). Because the Bluetooth File Transfer requires a connection to send the contact info (pics) it needs to connect to the mytouch stereo. This is a separate connection from the regular updated MAP bluetooth connection. So, when you try to revert back to the regular connection, you have it's associated contact list (minus the pictures).
I am going to try to write to the folks at CM and see if I can find someone with the knowledge to get this a step closer.
Le sigh...
Thanks for that. I'm picking up my new car in a few weeks. I'm using minco rom. Will report back if it works.
Which nightly are you using? I have a 2013 fusion and I'm on the latest nightly but I can't get the MAP profile to work.
Thanks
So when I look at the info for my phone on the MFT system. I under profiles I see SMS. Is there something I'm missing?
Thanks

I just loaded cm-10-20121029 and the MAP functionality broke, again. So I made a decision to just stick with what I know works for sure, regardless of nightly... and went back to the Bluetooth File Transfer app. I'll wait to see if I hear back from the CM10 devs regarding the update to the bluetooth stack. Until then, at least I can show off peoples pics when they call. (LOL, shallow, I know, but I love it!)
The nightly that did get MAP to work for me was cm-10-20121027.

In my Focus, I was unable to find a profiles setting.
If you are trying to get it to read texts, the nightly I listed above does it once you load it, don't have to do a thing. (at least I didn't) Still, tonights nightly broke it again. Le sigh... Still, I am glad I got one of the last two things up and running.
Btw, little tip, when (if) you are trying to load a picture for your background, the pic must be exactly 800x384. Any other size and it won't load. Pretty neat once it's in there tho! Now if I can find where to change the loading and closing Ford logo files, lol!
I don't suppose this blue tooth file transfer app would help make Google maps navigation work using the car speakers? The Bluetooth system in my car is called blue and me (fait punto). I'd love this, gets hard to hear the phone speaker over 50mph
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
So I went back to the nightly you said but I still don't get any text message alert. If I switch to AOKP I can send texts from the car but still doesn't read them to me. Any help would be great.
Thanks
I just moved to a new Galaxy Note 2, and everything works... out of the box. Both texts able to be read and pictures showing up with contacts.
I am using CM10 M2 and can confirm that it bluetooth MAP works with my BMW connecteddrive. Of course, only SMS works, no emails.
sorry
Additionally, CM10 M2 also seems to have AVRCP 1.3 and can stream music track NAMES. Stock JB was not able to do that. This tested on BMW .
I figured out how to do.it.
You use the same program as mentioned in first post.
Set up your phone NORMALLY with bluetooth.
THen delete your phonebook in mytouch.
Then go to your phone screen.. then settings...then manage phonebook
Then go to add a contact
Next, GO TO THE ANDROID PHONE.... then open the program, then click the 3 dots and select send contact. Select as many as you want. Then click send as single... then select SYNC...
Watch the contacts upload. Then click on on mytouch...all done!!!!
Hi,
I tried to sync contacts to my car computer (Skoda Octavia III + Amudsen head), but didnt syncronize a contact picturs (My Lumi a950 did it)...
Do you have an any idea how can i syncronize the contact pics?
Thanks your help!
You can try Bluetooth Phonebook app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android_rsap.irmctest
Actually I have VW Golf 7 and at least in favorites I have pictures of contacts.
Hi
I have the same issue..it used to work on my Note 7..now that I had to return it and started to use the Oneplus 3, it doesnt show them any more. I understand its not a big deal, but I loved to see contact pictures on the car screen. I am using a BMW 7 series and have enabled the option to display contact pictures.
Were you able to solve it?
