Not groups.
You can only assign ringtones to individuals.
There is a third party app

I just want to make sure If we can assign ring tones to gmail groups that we have synced on our device?
I would also love to know. Or can you do the same with user defined groups...?
Is there anyway to create group profiles (within contacts) example my previous phone i could add contacts into a group and select a different ringtone for them so i know who to expect?
The reason why I am asking this as I'm assuming WP7 does not have any feature which can block a call, so rather than relying on an application i was hoping to add all contacts into a group that I want to ignore and just set the ringtone as silent as i previously had done with my old phone....

They add custom ringtones and groups, but they dont let you add ringtones to groups, is there any way to add it for groups besides going to each contact individually and assigning it?
Is there any way to natively set custom text tones for specific contacts? I see an option for customized ringtones but having specific text tones would be vastly more useful for someone like me who mainly texts.
