is there an app that would allow me to use the TP2 gps signal on my laptop, so i can use a google maps or some sort of map program...???

I know google maps on the TP2 works pretty nicely with the GPS .. but connecting it to a laptop and using 3rd party mapping software is something I will look into. I have some topo sw i will install on my laptop and see what I can figure out.
Google maps on the PC is a website, not an app, and does not know about GPS.
Google Earth does do GPS, but isn't suitable for navigating, really.
There is more than one solution, with some effort. GPS2Blue I could never get to work on Bluetooth, but have succeeded on a USB cable.

tips on how to get it working properly over usb connection or bt if someone has found a way?
EDIT.....Ok. I have it working over bluetooth. i set the GPS port to COM 0: as it is in GPS settings for program access. i have set the bluetooth port to COM 1: on my laptop i have selected COM 5: as viewing my settings for the device shows Serial port was COM 5: just be sure to check the services for your device on the computer under bluetooth settings to find the correct port. i havent tried it with any programs yet but data is showing 9 Sats found in Visual GPS. Good luck to you who are as broke/cheap as me

One problem I found running WM6, was that finding the right settings for each GPS application for an external GPS is a pain in the butt.
TeleNAV seems to auto detect the external GPS and have no problems, but Windows Live and Google MAPS both need to be manually set. Anyone know the manual settings for both Windows Live and Google MAPS? My external GPS runs on COM6. I've tried numerous settings, and only TeleNAV is able to connect.

I use windows live messenger all the time and use a G-sat bluetooth device that uses com9. I don't have any problems with windows live; however, never got it to work with google maps. I do use the locate me fuction on virtual earth mobile. I set it manual in windows live settings to com9 and in external gps settings i use com9 as well and under bluetooth settings create an outgoing port. hope it helps

No problems with Google Maps with GPS for me.
After numerous attempts at registry changes and finally a hard-reset to unbreak it, I got google maps to work in unmodified black 2.0
You do need to set the program port to something other than the hardware port of the gps.
Does seem to be a little brittle though.

Is there a way to use the GPS receiver that is built into the Artemis as a GPS Device for Windows (XP or Vista).
Maybe over Bluetooth or USB / ActiveSync connection.
I tried to set up Bluetooth COM Ports so Incoming BT connections connect directly to the GPS COM port, but without success... no gps data was coming through.
Also I search for a small tool to test the receiver... just a compass or something.

You cannot just "bridge" the GPS com port to your desktop OS via BT. The BT stack was never designed that way. All BT com ports you use must have a piece of software behind it to fill it with data, or otherwise they are just empty cans.
In your case, you need a GPS splitter to get gps signals from the GPS com port, and then repeat it to a BT com port so that the other end can receive such signal. That will provide a working bridge for your data.
Try software such as gpsgate that works as described above.

i got myself GPS2Blue and installed it.
My problem now is, that i cannot set up a BT COM port!
I have the (german) B&Bv3 ROM (WM6). In Bluetooth Settings in the "COM Ports"-Tab. It says "Tap on 'New outgoing port' ..." but theres no button or something. Just the describing text and an empty ListBox.
since I cannot set up my COM port, GPS2Blue won't swich on right?
So... is this a WM6 bug or a B&B Bug or my brain-bug
Setting up COM ports in my firmware WM5 OS worked just fine.

I have a solar/battery Bluetooth GPS receiver that used to connect fine with TomTom on WM5 but since upgrading to WM6 I can't seem to connect with TomTom. I notice that the menus are different now for connecting and am not sure if I've set it up properly. Is there some specific set up for GPS now or do not all receivers work with WM6?
Never mind. I worked it out. I actually have to create a port for the device to connect to after pairing it.

Have a go at downloading google maps too. If you have got Windows managing your GPS then clicking on "Track Location" will show your GPS position on a google maps You can get a sattelite image of the exact place you're standing in - magic
Start Tomtom up at the same time to test that windows is correctly providing GPS data to both apps at the same time.

I'm trying to configure DeLorme Street Atlas 2010HH to talk to the GPS on my new AT&T Tilt2 stock. SA only seems to understand COMn ports and the GPS port doesn't seem to be in the list.
Google Mobile Maps at least has a radio button to select using Windows Location information, and that worked.
There is an control panel for External GPS that seems to map hardware ports into shared COM ports, but I'm not sure if that will do the trick for SA2010HH.
I haven't gotten it to work yet.
Any ideas?
What is the port that HTC provides a driver for? How do I map that successfully?

Every reference I've ever seen has the GPS on the TP2 assigned to COM4. I'm not really sure how you can map to that for SA2010 (never used it before)

I had the same problem at first. What I did was take the phone outside where I could get sat lock, opened Google Maps Mobile, while GMM still opened I opened SA2010 went into GPS settings and it pretty much found it by itself. That was about a month ago so I'm not exactly sure about my sequence.
This is what I see in GPS settings for SA2010
Device NMEA 0183
Baud Rate 4800
Comport COM4:
State Pennsylvania
Coords 40 You get the idea. I can't think right now how to put the degree symbol in there.
If I remember correctly I set the state before trying the GMM so I don't know how much difference that will make.
Number 1- You should always search before starting a new thread. I am sure you would find the answer to you original question. It is Com4.
Number 2- I am pretty sure you don't use External GPS, you keep it configured to use the GPS as is. Delorme should see it, just like Goggle Maps does.
Number 3- Why not contact Delorme customer service?

I wouldnt bother. You can probably get a gps reciever for your comp for pretty cheap. Then you wouldnt have to use your phone at all. Using your phone as a gps reciever and sending the signal to your laptop might run your phones battery dead faster, so if you were gonna use your phone as gps reciever, youd probly want to use usb rather than bluetooth, then the phone is charging and you have your bluetooth freed up for phone calls. But I would still suggest a reciever for your laptop, you wouldnt have to bother hooking your phone up n setting everything up every time you want to use gps
But yes i believe it is possible, Im pretty sure I saw a program for windows phones somewhere, that did send the phones gps info thru bluetooth to comp
It is called GPS2Blue and I never had any luck with it on bluetooth, but have via USB.
i just tried gps2blue again after years , now with rhodium and could get to work both tcp -> com and bluetooth -> com
WORKS GREAT with garmin on my tablet pc. and garmin-pc is even kind of made the way to use it on touch screens.

on PC, install the Czech program called 'virtual serial port for tcp/ip'

on pda in gps2blue check TCP and choose com4 (or your gps SW EMULATED com port)
in gps program on pc choose to connect to the com port you just created with 'virtual serial port'
bluetooth:
choose com2 in gps2blue and click ON, rhodium's bluetooth manager should popup asking what to do, create a new port for your PC and go.
there is a little mess with this, it created two com2 ports on pda, till one was asking for a pairing code, the other just get connected. And is not showing them in list, or sometimes showing one, but then not showing activesync port. But nevermind. it's working.
