Anyone else having bluetooth problems or is this operator error?
I can switch bluetooth on, make my handset visible, pair with other devices and receive files from other handsets, however when I try to send anything, I can't connect to paired devices and bluetooth hangs meaning I have to switch my handset off and on.
I was using bluetooh last night and all was ok
but unlike my last phone c902 the bluetooth is on a timer then turns off visibility
Working fine for me. Paired up my bluetooth headset and will still be working hours later even if I haven't interacted between them.
It's strange, devices show as paired but not connected and I can't make them connect.
Have been able to use BT for file transfer between my Desire and laptop and HD2. Also connected to my Plantronics BT headset. I think you need to have an appropriate BT driver for some devices like BT keyboards.
I too am having minor issues.
The wife's hands free kit (Parrot CK3000 evo) in the car supports voice dialling by sending contacts to it and then recording a tag which is associated with the contact. This way the kit can do the voice dialling for handsets that don't support it.
For some reason the Desire refuses to send contacts to the hands free kit claiming it doesn't support the correct bluetooth profiles. This obviously isn't the case as all the other phones we have tried work perfectly with the CK3000.
Only a minor issue, as in my car which has the CK3300 everything works fine (including syncing the phonebook to the car kit). It's more of a problem for the wife though, as she wants to upgrade to the Desire on Saturday when her contract is up for renewal but at the minute won't be able to voice dial from the car.
Dae.
Strange. I'll try connceting to my laptop later.
I too am having difficulty sending files over bluetooth. I can accept files fine, from any source, yet cannot send from my HTC Desire. First the notification says complete, but 0 files sent. Then going inside it shows it has failed. And then clicking it and retrying shows Unknown file. What's going on??
Tried sending to two mobile phones, and a Windows 7 laptop. Easily works the other way around. Also, sometimes I can't turn my bluetooth off properly, it just crashes the chip while turning off and can't turn it on or off until I reboot. Thought it might be Advanced Task Killer, but tried the same thing immediately after a reboot and still can't send files. Any ideas?
still no closer to solving this, I think it may be going back tomorrow.
I'm also having problems...
I have the Parrot CK3200 LS-COLOR and it connects to the phone ok, or vice versa and then it always falls over when trying to sync the contacts... It shows my facebook profile pic and then it fails.
If I dial a contact through the phone, or receive a call, it comes out fine through the speakers.
So I'm wondering if it's something to do with the way the the desire handles contacts.
Sorry if there's been a resolution to this, I did search first
me to also having the same problems. spent 4 hours on google last night and still no closer.
Weird as it might sound, I had no issues connectiong to car stereo. But when I tried to pair it with friends mobile, SonyEricsson c902 - it crashed!
I was trying to send a picture file I have downloaded using bluetooth.
Also, can anyone tell me how to send a mp3 file I have downloaded off the internet to another mobile using bluetooth?
Thanks
Have you enabled FTP under Bluetooth advanced settings? I have no problem transfering files to and from PC or other mobile phone. Also make sure the device is dicroverable and paired.
I had a similar problem which I wrote to HTC about: I paired and connected the Desire with my bluetooth car head unit and it works fine for phone & audio, but it will not auto connect each time I get in the car and I have to go through the pairing process and enter a code each time. Voice dialling also doesn't work. My previous handset (Touch HD) connected automatically if the bluetooth was on so I don't think it's a problem with the head unit. Someone suggested it might be due to an old bluetooth protocol on the head unit (I'd like to avoid having to replace it if possible).
i managed to send a file to another htc desire today, last time i tried, i admit i didn't enable the ftp service, however I could not send via bluetooth to a nokia n96 but to be fair, my desire probably just didn't want anything to do with it . but on a serious note I cant seem to get it to send to my windows 7 x64 disto.

take that back .. apart from the N96 joke.. reason windows was not accepting was because avast anti virus was blocking it.

Has any one been successful in transferring their Phone book via bluetooth to the car's phone book? If so, can you please let me know how?
I have an Acura TL 2008 and it has this option but I cannot seem to transfer even one single contact via bluetooth to the car let alone a whole phone book. I can pair perfectly and make and receive phone calls.
I am using Vp3G's WM6 3.0 version and I have Tmobile USA with unlimited internet. For radio, I am using the latest 1.51.
Is it the limitation of the Hermes or limitation of the Bluetooth in the Hermes?
Thanks.

It's definitely not a limitation of the Hermes... I can upload my contacts to car set via Bluetooth. I don't have an Acura though... sorry.

If you right click a contact, do you get the option to send via bluetooth? I do not and am wondering if something needs to be set or turned on.
Thanks.
Use the Jeyo bluetooth software. It will most likely transfer all your stuff to your car with no problems.
http://www.jetwaremobile.com/
It will do SMS messages too. You can even set it to use a different MAPI store such as email. Although there is a character limit that makes it kind of useless.
I have an Audi with MMI and it transfers fine, there is a short delay though after starting it up till the phonebook is available
Bluetooth & Infiniti
I wonder if anyone has had any experience with this utility and a 2007 Infiniti G35x that has the nav / tech package. I can pair my HTC TyTN just fine and use the basic bluetooth functions. I can even send one contact entry at a time but haven't figured out how to send my entire phonebook. I wonder if this app will help.
Anyone have any experience with this phone / car combo?
Thanks everyone for the jetware info. I will give it a shot and reply.

I bet it is a setting issue for the Acura. The Ford Sync system will ask, "Do you want to load phonebook?" right after it pairs...
It works - JETware Mobile Software
Upon suggestion from 'Diaftia' in this thread (THANK YOU!) I downloaded Hands-free Extension from JETware and installed it on my HTC TyTN. I then sat in my car and through the phonebook 'send' mode of the applet, I chose to send all 354 contact records to my car's phonebook via the bluetooth pairing. The car immediate showed 'downloading' at the appropriate time and viola! They were there.
I need to play with it some more to see if I can get more than the first phone number field to download. The Hands-free Extension app does allow you to pick only certain categorized phone records to be sent.
I've since purchased the utility and will explore more of its features! So far, so great! I've been looking for this solution for quite sometime!

David

David,
I installed the software but did not see a Send option. I was able to select the categories on contacts that I wanted for the phonebook.
Where was the Send option? In the Jetware software or your car?
Thanks.
shamim
In the Extension software from the menu, go to phonebook options. In phonebook options select the categories that you wish to send to the phone. Press the 'menu' soft key option again. You will see 5 options, of which 'send contacts' is one of them. You will then get another set of options and finally a confirmation before it sends the records. Make sure your car or receiving device is set to receive before you finalize the send process.

Well, I have experienced exactly the same problem with my Pioneer, I am able to send one by one contact to the car but I am not able to send the entire phonebook at once. When I try to do that then the bluetooth connection is getting disconnected and that is it. I wonder if that is a problem with the bluetooth driver,
I had a heck of a problem with importing to my new Audi A4 Pervertable, and worse it kept loosing connectivity then re-establisign it (mid song no less). Eventually fixed with BT Radio 1.50, (tried everything before it).
I don't know whether this is relevant or not. This is how I do it.
I have a Garmin Nuvi 610. When pairing the device with my Hermes all I have to do is make sure comm port service is enabled in the hermes bluetooth utility when asked for service type. If it's not enabled then there won't be any sharing of phonebook between them.

I currently use the JetWare Mobile extension ver 1.31 that I updated several days ago and now I can use Voice Command via bluetooth hear and give commands through the car stereo system.
I can also hear announcements of calls, emails via the stereo system. Sorry got off subject...
With this software I'm pretty sure that you will be able to upload your address book. I had no problem with 275+ contacts....
They have a free trial you could try to ensure that it works for you, but it's not free...
If memory serves me think it was about $15, well worth it if your a heavy BT user.

Jac,
Thanks for the info. I already gave jetware a shot but it did not work for me. I do not get the "Send" option on my contacts or phonebook through Jetware or Outlook contacts on the TyTN. I am using Radio 1.51 and Jetware extension 1.31. If I got the Send option, it would work. For Voice command 1.6, do you use the option 'use bluetooth when available" or the option "use bluetooth only".
Thanks for being helpful.

I know in my case, it took me a couple times to figure out how to upload the the contacts to the car stereo using Jetware...
First time was: I did not go into... Hand-free Setting\Menu\Advanced Options\ And check off Phonebooks.
Second time was: I did not leave the car stereo phonebook settings "waiting to accept data" before I sent all the contacts from my PDA.
Any way back to your last question "About VoiceCommand 1.6" I use the setting "Announce notifications using Bluetooth hands free only"....
Thanks,
Good luck on your quest...
Hey guys,
i was wondering if anyone was facing this problem... i have the Alpine 103BT in my car which has an inbuilt parrot bluetooth system. I have noticed that when someone calls me it shows up on the lcd on the headunit then immediately drops the call! it shows up as a missed call on my tp2... but when i call using this bluetooth system then it works like a charm!
Any idea what i can do to change this? Is there a setting i have inadvertently changed?
I would really appreciate this because this call dropping really defeats the point of hands free!

I've got the same problem.
Just look a few posts down the list and you'll notice my 'cry for help'.
So far though, nobody's come to the rescue.
I've been reading that our phones have a unique BT-implementation, so it could be down to a bug in that area. If more people show up having similar issue, we might know.
Until then: fingers crossed and hope for sombody to post a solution.
Great! its not just me then! I hope it gets sorted! it gets on your nerves after awhile!
That's putting it mildly.
This sucks big-time: when on a business-call you definitely don't want your headset to die in you. During any conversation, really, but blasting along the motorway it's the last thing you need.
I also have an alpine 103 bt and an htc touch(elf) with onyx rom on it.
my problem is that when i make a call either from the head unit or the phone on the head unit it stops the music, displays CALLING and then after 3 seconds it displays ------------- , resumes the music, but the phone doesnt hang up. It continues the call, shows that is stil connected but you cant hear anything.
this is really frastrating as it does this sort of thing randomly and not always.
any thoughts?
Your symptoms sound a bit different from ours so it could be a totally different problem.
We might need to be paitient until one of the experts has a simiral experience and dived into the software.
Until then, I'm baffled.

Come to think of it... i have a similar problem.. when i get an incoming call it stops the music and registers a call and just a few second later..i get the --------------, and then the music comes back...by the time i fish my phone out of the pocket ive got a missed call! havnt noticed any problems when im calling though.
i tried repairing the phone to the unit but same thing! not sure what else i could do
Similar problem (I think)
Cant get a working setup in my car kit. I have a Jaguar XF SC with bluetooth handsfree...The TP2 (TMO US) pairs and docks fine, but doesnt work well. Incoming calls dont seem to be recognized, and outbound calls will dial and communicate, but wont hangup. When I hang up from the TP2, the car kit still thinks its connected and mutes the radio until i forcebly disconnect from TP2...
arg...
I've got exactly the same problem as the original poster. Mine's a vodafone TP2 with the standard vodafone rom. I've got the Alpine 104BTi. I can make outgoing calls ok but as has been described any incoming call will show the caller ID for about 1 ring and then it hangs up the call.
I've got a Jabra BT500 which works perfectly. I am wondering whether it may be the actual firmware in the Alpine device. If you look at the phone compatibility list on the Alpine website the TP2 is not listed. It worked fine with my Kaiser and this is listed as compatible.
I emailed their tech support and they said they are waiting for their customized version of the firmware from Parrot to be updated, possibly around September. I've noticed that for the Parrot standalone devices these all list the TouchPro2 as compatible, so maybe this will be fixed.
They did mention that the firmware update may only be available through the dealers. I'll keep an eye on their website. My current firmware version is 320.
I've read some other threads somewhere that people with the vodafone rom describe having problems with bluetooth that are fixed after flashing with a different rom so may turn out to be that.
Infuriating though.
It seems to be the poor implementation of the new BT stack
I have had similar problems to those described above, my Peugeot van has inbuilt BT (uses Parrot in implementation) which just misbehaves unbelievably including hanging up the current call if a new one comes in on call waiting, phonebook access is rediculously slow and buggy.
My Jabra BT8010 disconnects at random
My Jawbone disconnects very occasionally
The stack is full of bugs and HTC must know it - I reported it on their support system and firstly fobbed off, then they said they would look into it, then the log was auto closed - very convenient way to show they are meeting targets in resolving issues.
It is poor, poor and more poor. The new WIDCOMM stack looks great but doesnt really work.
Very poor for a flagship handset and they should sort something out
I went to an Alpine delearship who suggested what ukdoc was trying to do.. basically firmware update! Are you using a different Alpine website? Because the one i go to says coming soon on the page where software updates are supposed to be. I culdnt find any connection with parrot and alpine on the parrot website!
Basically what im asking is how are you going to be getting the firmware update and could you direct me towards it!
Many thanks Mate

Hi
I just tried updating the BT in my Alpine 104bti. The laptop connects to the headunit but the update tool don't find the connection, I've tried disabling the antivirus etc. But it don't see the connection but the connection is displayed on the laptop.
Any Ideas whats wrong ?

Hi all,
Anyone can confirm that Desire has a rSAP (remote Sim access)?
Some people are saying it doesn't work with their Nav, some say it is working.
Any one got it hooked up to their Vw/Audi/Skoda RNS Nav?
Looking to change from my TouchHD.
Cheers,
Android does not support the SAP/rSAP protocol. It may be that some people have it working on cars that use the HFP or HSP profiles.
Thanks mate, not good at all!!!

Does it support rsap? is there any way to push contacts etc...?

I also have the Audi built in BT system, and it works fine except that from what I've read about rSAP, I don't think it's working in that mode with the Audi.
The only difference (problem) I've been facing with my HTC phones vs. Nokia e71 is that the phone ring tone is not pushed to the car speakers when receiving a call. I was hoping it would work with the Desire as the default Audi BT ringtone is stupidly annoying.
Sorry off topic again, but I was wondering, are Bluetooth profiles generally defined by hardware or software? Or some by this, some by that?
Maybe you could check if it has another setting to retrieve data from the phone.
From what i know the new modules used in audi/vw/skoda are Novero modules (part of the nokia business) which only supports rsap.
The older modules are from harman/Becker and do support al the possible connectiontypes.
You can check which type you have under the passengers frontseat, the modules are build in under the seat, not in the radio.
If you have a Novero, tough luck. But you can always check on the local car junkyard if you can find an old car which does have a harman/becker, and build that one in

Just wanted to add to eliminate any confusion. I can dial contacts saved on the phone and directly search for them on the car screen. But what I understood is that rSAP profile connects to the SIM card and fully replaces the phone, where it goes into some kind of sleep mode!

Just a little extra info, Desire now works with the Ford Convers+ system but ONLY on Android 2.1 Update1 (the stock Android 2.1 didn't work).
Just thought that may be why there's mixed reports of working/not working?

Hmm - well I'm trying to use my HTC Desire with a 2010 Audi A3 with BT and not having any luck so far. Although it paired and transferred the phonebook (took quite a few minutes with a couple of hundred contacts), it's now being really flaky and sometimes just refusing to connect at all. I tried un-pairing/re-pairing but to no avail. It just seems to work sometimes for a bit then stop again. By comparison pairing my Desire with a Jabra BT headset worked fine.
Anyone else having these problems? Anyone know of any updates for the Audi software? (if not I suppose I'll just need to wait for Froyo and hope that it fixes things )
my desire works well with my VW golf.
phone book, calls (dialing and receiving) and status dispay working. not working is SMS
Hey Folks,
there is room for some BT "education", because most people don't know the difference between rSAP and Handsfree.
Handsfree is working like a BT headset - most disadvantage - you are using the phoneunit of your mobile.
rSAP is using BT protocoll to get only the SIM card of your mobile and work together with the phoneunit of your car.
For Audi you can see on which mode your are conntected at the MMI-Display => "SIM card icon" stands for rSAP while "Mobilephone icon" represents handsfree mode.
no rSAP
I could be wrong, but I was of the impression that Nokia had patented the RSAP protocol, so you're not going to see it on non-Nokia phones. Irritating, really. Some car users have retrofitted their handsfree kits with a module that uses handsfree profile with some success but it's not going to use the car antennae etc in this case.
rSAP is a "STANDARD" for bluetooth protocoll in general.
Nokia was one of the first, thatswhy the Nokia unit has some "problems" in early releases....
Well I picked up my Skoda Superb last week, dealer told me they were fitting the new GSM 3 units that had just recently changed, not that it meant much to me.
Anyways it did work fine first couple days then started playing up with not connecting, I went into the options because I found it was connecting to media, but not phone, so I disabled the media option on the phone for the bluetooth connections and its been fine ever since.
Desire running Modaco R4, R5 & R6 now also ok.
Also saw a file posted on there that is meant to fix the iffy bluetooth connection problems, its been confirmed as working but I've not tried it as I've not had any more problems with it.
Will take a look though see if its connecting with a phone or sim card, I had noticed the signal always seemed really good even if the phone was berried in the car somewhere so maybe the rSAP explains it.

Do not mix up android 2.1 and 2.2.
AFAIK the modaco roms are froyo which should have a better bluetooth stack than eclair.
Well some good news! The FroYo/2.2 update on the Desire seemed to do the trick for me and I now seem to be able to get a stable BT connection with my A3. Phonebook transfer working fine too and it's reacquiring the connection when getting back into the car.
Any hope for Android 2.1?
Alanjrobertson: did you say you got your HTC Desire Android v2.1 phone working with your Audi, albeit a bit flaky? I cant get my HTC Desire Android v2.1 phone working with my VW EOS working at all.
What was the process you followed? The process I went through was to turn on phone’s bluetooth and make my phone discoverable. I then initiated a search from the car. It found my phone and displayed the correct name. However, when I chose the “connect” option on the car, it gave the error message: "mobile telephone phone is not compatible" on the car’s MFD.
Is this what you did? Is there a better way of connecting?
The car’s entertainment system is RNS510. I’m not sure if this is associated with Bluetooth or not.
My previous phone (Nokia 5800) worked OK, but my Desire doesn’t.
I am hoping that the Android v2.2 upgrade will fix my problems, but I’m still waiting for the update from Orange. It could take a while by the sounds of things.
I contacted HTC and they told me “The HTC Desire does not have the remote sim access profile. we currently have no plans to update the Bluetooth profiles on the device.” This makes me worried that when I eventually do get the Android v2.2 upgrade it will not work.
Any ideas other than waiting for the Android v2.2 upgrade?
My Desire's very strange.
I've got it linked up to a bluetooth headset and car kit with no problems. It runs really well. However when I try and send or receive files, no dice. Using HTC Share I just get 'Failed 0 files sent' in the status bar and with Bluetooth File Transfer it tells me the other device hasn't got object push etc. Tried in EStrongs too to no avail.
Any ideas?
Thanks guys.
Bluetooth seems to be seriously broken with the HTC Desire's.
Today I tried to transfer a file to another HRC Desire and both of our phones rebooted at the same time !
The 2nd time we tried, the phone completely locked up !
There are going to be some remote phone hanging exploits in time.
But for me, i am disappointed that HTC Desire did'nt test the BlueTooth functionality, this is a major inconvenience !!
I can transfer pics and mp3`s both to and from my Desire to my pc,my laptop,,an iphone(a jailbroken 2g at that)a Nokia 5800,a Samsung Jet and a Samsung Tocco Ultra.I dont think i`m doing anything different from other phones, select the file, pair and send .
Once i turn on bluetooth via Settings and make my device discoverable(in Bluetooth Settings option) then every device i have paired with becomes available which only lasts for 120 seconds.I havent found an option to make it permanent.
Edit -the phone is unrooted, running 1.15.405.4,firmware 2.1-update1 and only added voice to text mod, totally new to android so dont know if any of the kernel build or baseband info is relevant
I had the same problem with my Desire...When I buyed it, I had no problem pairing, sending and receving any kind of files from my pc and other phones. Yesterday I reset the phone and now I can't pair, send and receive anything from/by the phone. At the moment I've noticed that Android System has the highest percent (95/96%) in the battery usage... I think that it will not last long time before I re-reset the Desire
ps. sorry for my not perfect english
Hello everyone, have desire from few days,in my one is the same problem with bluetooth but i can pair device and receive but cannot connect and send files.
Is this software problem or hardware?
I am wondering if Android 2.2 will fix/resolve these problems and if they are known by the Android developers or not...
I try to use Bluetooth File Transfer for sending files (I can only receive) but I have some problem with the Obex Service...
Tried send/receive file with another Desire, everything went nice and smooth.
I solved my problems, it's a very stupid problem... Infact if I activate the box "Discroverable" in the Bluetooth menu so when I try to send files I have no problem sending files to my pc
Now i can see Bluetooth it's fine but only if u trying transfer small size files up to 3-4mb,when its bigger size phone is tethering.
Well I'm having the same issues with the HTC desire. I can't send anything via Bluetooth as it just says that all the other phones haunt got obex when that have. What is wrong with the desire and Bluetooth. I've his left from my hd2 which I have to say that the Bluetooth is superb to the desire that can't do the basic. Please please some help. Ive tried what people have said but it doesn't work. I don't know what else to do.
Thanks daz
I too am having bluetooth problems. I can transfer files, pictures etc but can't send mp3's. I have tried through estrong and the standard HTC way but no movement of MP3 files. I was trying to send an MP3 to my daughters Nokia N97. The devices are paired and she can send files (inc MP3's) fine and I can receive them but not the other way around.
Hmm, I can recieve files on my desire with no problems at all (every phone works)
but if i try to send, it connects but never actually sends the file :\
try using 'Root Explorer' or 'Explorer' from the market.....they can send every file over bluetooth.
Remember to:
-Have the ftp server service DISABLED
-Have your phone DISCOVERABLE
Problem solved with desires file transfer over bluetooth
Hey guys, I had been experimenting with a few dozen phones and apparently there are some limitations you have with the file you are transferring, luckily they don't require much geek knowledge! First make sure your bluetooth is on discoverable, and then you'll have to make sure the file name is in english, After renaming the file make sure you have no space in between the name, for example if you wanted to send no air.mp3, you will need to rename it to noair.mp3 and make sure there isn't any space between the name and full stop before the mp3 as well, otherwise it can't be sent to another phone via bluetooth! So just to briefly summarize, english name, no space and discoverable then send and receive ! Hope it works for you ! Desire eclaire 2.1
All,
I have this small issue with my HTC Desire and the Parrot CK3000 Evolution. Until now, everything works perfectly (calling, sending contacts, voice dialing, ending calls,...)
However I have one small issue. When I enter my car, and my phone is locked, the Desire will not pair with the Parrot. From the moment I activate the screen, pairing is done within a few seconds. I already tried to leave it there for half an hour, no pairing, touched the screen, pairing within a few seconds.
It looks to me like the bluetooth is not active / alive when the phone is locked (or in sleep). From the moment the pairing is done, everything works fine, also when the phone is back in lock / sleep.
Anybody has anything similar or has a solution for this? I searched the market for some kind of Bluetooth-keep-alive application, but could not really find it...
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Speedygerre
Small bump, nobody any idea for a solution or somekind of workaround / app?

I have a similar situation with my Audi A5 (factory BT kit).
It will connect when the phone is locked (screen off etc) but it can take anything from 1 to 10 minutes before it does connect.
Like yourself, my Desire connects immediately if the phone is not locked.
Strangely, it appears to work OK in my Mazda MX-5 which has a Kenwood DNX8220BT system (Bluetooth, SatNav, Ipod, coffee maker etc) - and the Bluetooth is a Parrot system. Having said that, I haven't used the MX-5 much since I got my Desire so it might not be a representative sample.
There is definitely something amiss though.
I have a Parrot CK 3100, and whilst I am happy to report that I do not have the same problem as you, I did have a problem syncing my contacts.
Check out this site, and download the software to udate to the latest firmware. You will need a laptop with either built in bluetooth, or a seperate bluetooth dongle.

I updated the firmware on mine, and now my contacts sync properly.
There is a good chance that updating could fix your connection problem as well.
Sorry forgot to add, that updating the kit really is a doddle, but their software is Windows 32bit ONLY and definitely no MAC!
Thans pergolesi, I hope your suggestion workshop, I will try it when I have some time one of the next days.
However I still think it has something to do with the Desire, since syncing workshop perfectly when Desire is not locked...

I don't know about the Bluetooth but I know my wifi deactivates after about 5 minutes when it's locked even though I have it set to never turn off. Maybe the Bluetooth is doing the same.
Perhaps not much help, but I sometimes play music from my Desire on my car headunit using Bluetooth streaming, and that continues to work fine when the screen goes off and the phone is locked. It also still responds to commands from the headunit (skip, pause, etc).
Once it's connected, everything works OK for me as well, it just is the connecting moment which apparently does not always work

Can I ask what year your A5 is? I've got a 2010 A3 and BT doesn't work properly with my Desire I can get it to pair, but then it will disconnect a few minutes later and the only way to reconnect seems to be to unpair/repair or switch the car off/on. When it IS working it can make calls, etc. fine - but I just can't get it to stay connected I tried my Audi dealer but they just said it's not on the Audi list and there's no update to support it, so interested to hear you got it working on your A5.

My A5 is a 2008 model with SatNav and therefore MMI High. The Desire paired straight away with no problems and both the car and the phone remember each other - it just takes awhile sometimes for one or the other to realise it and connect.
I'm pretty certain that it is the phone that has the problem as I had no such problems with several Sony Ericsson phones previously.

Thanks - interesting. I wonder how many different BT stacks Audi run - I was hoping they'd share some common code and therefore be updated quickly but it sounds like this isn't the case given that it's working fine on your A5. Thanks for the info though!
